Maplewood Hotel

Beautiful historic building. We stayed mid-week, so it was incredibly quiet. Breakfast was fantastic. Pool is lovely. Will stay again!

Excellent location walkable to so many stores and restaurants. Parking not the best but other then that wonderful.

This B&B is very well located and walkable to commercial area of saugatuck. Hotel parking is limited butcstreet parking usually available. Coffee is limited and not available in The evening, which would be nice.

Parking was an issue. Price was a bit high. Otherwise everything was great!

Parking situation was not good. No refrigerators in room, no hook on bathroom door to hang garments, no counter in bathroom :-( A/C worked VERY well :-) Breakfast was wonderful and our server was very friendly and personable. The hotel was beautiful. Honestly, the parking was the biggest issue.

Maplewood must learn that it should change out its bed pillows periodically. Ours had a strong, unpleasant head-oil odor. Better hotels schedule periodic pillow replacements so pillows always smell fresh and clean.

I was highly disappointed. I've stayed at several historical/old hotels and this stay was the most disappointing for the expensive price I payed. The bath mat in my room was torn/dirty. No conditioner was provided, only body wash/shampoo/lotion, the bathroom grout and vents were really dirty, the coffee was a generic brand, these are very little things that shouldn't happen for the price I was charged. I will say the STAFF carries this place = the night lady and breakfast crew were amazing and accommodating.

Overall a nice property. We were a little disappointed in our room...cramped, softer than we like bed, marginal bathroom, room was very warm but ceiling fan felt like a wind tunnel, tiny TV. Hairdryer broken. Host was very accommodating but this room really needs a refresh.

Maplewood is a wonderful B&B. The place is beautifully located. Only a block from shops and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. In addition, the property is very clean and well maintained. We are already planning on going back there next year.

Fantastic location, courteous staff, large room and bathroom.

Our daughter dropped by and the owner (I think) accused us of having too many in our room. I witnessed the same person castigating an employee for putting dirty laundry on the floor. The room and particularly the bathroom were very small - no place to put toiletries. We traveled there for a show that was cancelled because of a Covid outbreak and the owner was saying negative things about the theater. But she still was happy to take our $530 for 2 nights even though we came only for the theater. I won’t stay there again!

The location is great, easily walkable to the downtown and water. Our room was comfortable with the exception of the mouse from the post office next door. The mail trucks started loading/unloading at 4:00 am. We came in late (10 pm) and left the next morning around 10 am. We never saw any of the staff. We didn’t need anything but I felt a little uncomfortable leaving our room key at the unoccupied desk.

The staff at Maplewood does an excellent job welcoming guests and making sure needs are met. Both breakfasts were delicious. The entire hotel is a work of ART. I would have liked to stay longer.

Disappointed. This was probably our 5th stay at the Maplewood and we have recommended the hotel to countless people over the years. This experience was a huge disappointment in comparison to all others. I accidentally booked Thursday and Friday instead of Friday and Saturday, which is what I planned to book as a much-needed birthday celebration for myself. The past 6 weeks have been emotionally exhausting due to dealing with an unexpected terminal illness of a family member. I fully understand that I made the booking error because I have been distracted. And I understand that there wasn’t availability on Saturday night, which meant the 2 night get-away I paid for was cut down to 1 night. But the lack of empathy for our situation was pretty sad. It would have been so gracious of them to offer to throw in a bottle of wine or to give us a minimal credit toward our next stay since we ended up paying $375 for a night in a hotel we didn’t use. Again, I know it was my fault. But as long time repeat customers I would have expected at least some kindness and grace. Instead the manager informed me that there was nothing she could do when I spoke to her the night before we arrived and the owner actually hung up on me when I called back to make sure we could pick up our key as soon as we arrived. We found a much friendlier, more comfortable bed and breakfast to stay in for Saturday night so unfortunately we won’t be back to the Maplewood. Our 5 year run is over.
