Great location for the Cathedral at the other end of the high street and we stayed in the wonderful Llandaff Cathedral Family Room. wonderful shower and very comfortable bed. Excellent classic cooked breakfast (meat & vegan). But best of all was the service from Chris, Ben and the rest of the team (sorry forgotten the young ladies names) we had two great evening meals and our fellow choristers also enjoyed the food and drink (they were staying at the uni) Excellent pints of Rev James (perhaps had too many!!) Great to have secure free parking too. Thank you!

Good service from all the staff and easy parking. Strong pub ambience and good breakfast food. Very helpful and proactive to alert me to a couple of items left behind which were posted immediately. Thank you! Would orefer a room not on the staircase in future stays and thought the price was pretty heavy for the actual offering.

Stayed here while dropping my son at Uni. Was really convenient (25 min walk) to his digs in Tally South. Free parking was the initial reason I booked and was great, easy to access and felt secure. Check out time being 11am also meant I could run Cardiff Parkrun and grab a shower before leaving. The accommodation is above a pub but you wouldn’t know as it was quiet and easy to access via a side door so no need to go through the pub. Food at the pub was great and reasonably price. Staff really welcoming. Five stars, would stay again.

I stayed at the Maltsters Arms earlier in the year and enjoyed my stay. I was greeted by a charming lady (with bright red hair) who showed me to my room and exclaimed that it was her favourite. Unfortunately, whilst an excellent size and plenty of facilities, the room was a little disappointing. The bathroom needed some refurbishment: a rusty grab handle, noisy fan and protruding screws. No bottles of bodywash or shampoo for the bath. No soap. The room also suffers from noise from the room above. Next time I will make sure to book a room on the first floor. Apart from the niggles, I advise that you book a table if you wish to eat as the restaurant gets busy. The lower area of the restaurant is used for a quiz night on Tuesdays which restricts the dining area even more. Excellent breakfast and, once again, served by pleasant staff. I would definitely return.

Really pleasant stay of a few days in this pub. The staff were all great - helpful and personable. Room was suprisingly large and fairly well appointed. Bed comfortable, water hot and plentiful and food very good indeed. I had been concerned about noise but those concerns were unfounded. A few things that could have been better: The shower dripped - A LOT! I managed to put a sponge under it which stopped the noise otherwise it would have driven me mad. Apparently it\'s going to be fixed soon. The heating in the room was a bit odd - the A/C indicated it would heat and most of the time it did, although rather intermittently. There is a back up option of a plug in radiator. The thing that really bugged me was having the cleaners in every day. I\'d said not to bother but they "tidied" nontheless. Having towels changed daily just isn\'t necessary or desirable. If you\'r there on business then the desk wasn\'t really big enough to work on. TBH, that wasn\'t a problem as I found a quiet table in the bar and worked from there. The food in the pub is far better than your average "pub-grub". Being Xmas, there wasn\'t much in the way of other options so I ate here most nights and didn\'t have a disappointing meal. Good food and good beer - perfect! I\'d certainly stay again.

A lovely comfortable stay, slept well in a comfortable bed. The bathroom was nice very spacious and clean. We had a nice meal and a very tasty breakfast, bonus point for Gluten free sausages. All staff were very friendly. Will definitely stay again.

The Maltster's Arms is clean and comfortable. The area it is located in is really beautiful, with lots of historic buildings, nice little gift shops and excellent restaurants and cafes. I can highly recommend staying here.

Lovely break in the heart of the village of Llandaff. We had a room at the front which we liked as it had a view of the High Street and the Cathedral Spire. With windows open it was very noisy, which didn’t worry us at all. Rooms at the back are much quieter but no view at all. Greg, the manager, was very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay All staff very friendly. We ate in the restaurant on one night, which was very good. Several good restaurants within 5 minutes walk which we also sampled and would recommend as well. Will definitely return

Checked in online so quick and easy and show to our room straight away. Room was spacious well decorated and warm. Plenty of tea, coffee etc. Bathroom spacious and toiletries. Breakfast freshly cooked and friendly service.

The room we were given had a king bed. The Millennium room" The mattress was well and truely past it's useby date, I'd say by 10 years. Appearance the bed had a huge dip in the middle. Sat on the side of the bed. There was no way we were sleeping on this bed that night. We felt all the way down to the wooden bed base! Telling the young girl that checked us in about the lack of mattress she appeared dumb, I don't normally work in accommodation side. She rang the manager and we were given another room " The Bute" the bed was fine. A review going back December 2023 had the same view about the mattress. I don't for the life of me understand why a mattress like this would still be in use. The only reason is that no care has gone into the accommodation side. The pub meal was so so, and the staff were not enthusiastic. They asked if we had a booking and when we said we were staying here they sat us. Said they were running out of stock.

Lovely place, definitely will stay again, had food and recommend the Ceasar salad. Room was spacious with a very smart en-suite, a little road noise with the window open but the double glazing works very well

The hotel is in a great location with shops and restaurants just across the road and a short walk to the river, plus with the bus stop right outside getting to the city centre was easy too. The bed was comfy and an excellent breakfast made it a refreshing stay. We would definitely stay here again.

The staff went out of their way to make our stay perfect. We needed a place to store our luggage while we toured the city waiting for our train. They allowed us to leave the bags in the room and if they needed the room Ben offered to store them in his personal room. When we needed a cab, they made the calls for us. It was a really nice stay and I'd recommend it for anyone.

Really friendly welcome on arrival. Staff were really helpful throughout our stay, nothing was too much trouble. Would like to give a big thanks to Chris who greeted us on arrival. Room was was really comfortable and we had everything we needed. Really enjoyed our meals, we had dinner in the evening and cooked breakfast in the morning. Couldn’t fault either. Good selection for breakfast - cooked, continental, omelettes, pancakes. Would definitely recommend Maltsters Arms, and would stay here again.

Great location for the Cathedral at the other end of the high street and we stayed in the wonderful Llandaff Cathedral Family Room. wonderful shower and very comfortable bed. Excellent classic cooked breakfast (meat & vegan). But best of all was the service from Chris, Ben and the rest of the team (sorry forgotten the young ladies names) we had two great evening meals and our fellow choristers also enjoyed the food and drink (they were staying at the uni) Excellent pints of Rev James (perhaps had too many!!) Great to have secure free parking too. Thank you!

Stayed here while dropping my son at Uni. Was really convenient (25 min walk) to his digs in Tally South. Free parking was the initial reason I booked and was great, easy to access and felt secure. Check out time being 11am also meant I could run Cardiff Parkrun and grab a shower before leaving. The accommodation is above a pub but you wouldn’t know as it was quiet and easy to access via a side door so no need to go through the pub. Food at the pub was great and reasonably price. Staff really welcoming. Five stars, would stay again.

Lovely place. Only problem, and only a minor issue, was a little noisy outside occasionally during the night. Sraff were really friendly and professional. Room was superb. Would definitely stay here again. Excellent location.

The hotel is in a great location with shops and restaurants just across the road and a short walk to the river, plus with the bus stop right outside getting to the city centre was easy too. The bed was comfy and an excellent breakfast made it a refreshing stay. We would definitely stay here again.

The Maltster's Arms is clean and comfortable. The area it is located in is really beautiful, with lots of historic buildings, nice little gift shops and excellent restaurants and cafes. I can highly recommend staying here.

Fantastic set of rooms attached to a pub, but 4* rating. My room had air conditioning and an amazing power shower. I had two loverly evening meals. Staff were very friendly, couldn’t fault the place. I will be back 👏👍

The hotel is in a great location, and our room was spacious and comfortable (Millenium Stadium) which was right next to the exit and made it very easy to come and go. We had lunch there and the food was delicious, although the service got very slow after our first course, so we didn't order dessert, although we did want one. We were a little disappointed that the bar closed at 10pm, as by the time we got back from the event in the Cathedral, it was too late to have a nightcap. Breakfast was delicious, and we would highly recommend. All in all, a very nice stay and we would go back.

Really friendly welcome on arrival. Staff were really helpful throughout our stay, nothing was too much trouble. Would like to give a big thanks to Chris who greeted us on arrival. Room was was really comfortable and we had everything we needed. Really enjoyed our meals, we had dinner in the evening and cooked breakfast in the morning. Couldn’t fault either. Good selection for breakfast - cooked, continental, omelettes, pancakes. Would definitely recommend Maltsters Arms, and would stay here again.

The parking was good, always available . The room was pleasant. The food was good. The problems were - the position on a hectic main road, I didn’t see it mentioned on there review. The heat, though the weather was not hot you could barely open the windows and then had to shut them because of the noise of the traffic and then there was black mold on the bottom of the shower. The staff were pleasant though breakfast was not explained very well!

Very comfortable nights sleep, staff were great and very helpful. Breakfast was delicious. Liked that we could chose a later breakfast time, and that checkout wasn't until 11. Lovely area.
