Executive lounge was excellent

The hot tub wasn’t filled up or running, that was the main reason why we picked this particular hotel, it was so disappointing ☹️

I always do my own scrubdown when I get into a hotel room, anyway. Bed/main area seemed clean enough -- it was the bathroom that was a little shocking. Lots of handprints on the glass shower wall and pubic hairs (I counted about 10 total) in the separate tub. I started to run bathwater for my kids when I noticed this. We opted for the shower instead. A simple rinse during room turnover would have taken care of that. No soft-close toilet seats, either, so you have to hold onto the seat to avoid banging. Small annoyances, maybe, but not what I would expect from a 4-star hotel. The kids were also disappointed to learn that the pool was inoperable during our stay. It can't be helped, but it might have been nice to know that upon check-in (they were in their swimsuits under their summer clothes), so I could manage expectations for our staycation. Also got charged for internet connection, even with my Bonvoy membership login (had to reconcile at checkout). Would not stay at this location again.

The property was very clean, and the staff was friendly. However, there were two aspects I didn't like. First, the parking fees were excessive. They charged $88 per day for valet parking and $66 per day for public parking, which isn't even located right at the hotel; you have to walk three blocks to access it. This seems too expensive, especially for hotel guests. Second, they charged $14 per day for Wi-Fi in the room. I was surprised by this, as I've never stayed at a hotel that charges for Wi-Fi.

No hassle check in/out. Amazing gym and pool.

The only thing that I can say bad is the hot tub was closed during our stay. That was one of the main reasons we chose this location. But the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Would stay there again, but would just call the property directly next time to confirm everything is in working condition.

Location is convenient for our party. Hotel has nice pool with hot hub which is what we needed. Kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Nice work out space. Love the fact that in the work out room, there is eucalyptus infused cold towels available for guests to use. This is a nice touch that makes this stay experience special. Good variety of breakfast options. When we checked in, the reception did not share any info about the executive level lounge access to us. So we missed out on hors d'oeuvres hours, evening dessert time. We reserved executive level room and didn't know about any of the benefits or timing of different hours until the day of our check out It would have been nice to know what's available to us. We booked 2 queen beds with executive level, but I think we got 2 double beds instead. Room looks different from the picture. Since it was a short trip we didn't bother changing room. The overall experience is fine, but check-in can be better had the reception take the time welcoming guests and explaining what's available, etc.

Very nice hotel. The bar and lounge are right in the lobby, so be ready to walk past everyone with your travel luggage. The Valet was very quick, but the area does get congested. The staff was very helpful and there was always water in the lobby. The rooms, bathroom, and closet are large. The bathroom has no shower curtain, so that does leave it hard to have a 4-person room only using 1 bathroom together. The gym was very nice and the pool was little chilly. It said no children under 16, but it was overrun with kids in the evening so that you really couldn't use it. The spa was excellent and the services were some of the best we've had. The location was nice for walking to many areas.

Will definently be back. Nice pool whirlpool area. Room service of good quality. Excellent spa customer service. I did not experience breakfast but hear it's very good. Will be back to stay longer.

The room was nice and the amenities were awesome. Our shower was not well cleaned and there was other people’s hair in it. Otherwise, everything was good.

There was feces wiped on our bathroom wall that was not cleaned up after 4x of asking.

I noticed that my room was not cleaned properly. There were food crumbs on the table and the ground from the previous occupants. There was also urination spots on the toilet upon arrival.

Amazing experience from the first step in the door. Beautiful and clean. Hotel smelled lovely. Plenty of elevators and spacious rooms with nice amenitys. Location was great!

Great property that’s close to shopping and restaurants. The rooms are large and very quiet. I’d say the only drawback is the beds were small. This is definitely a 5 star property

We enjoyed our stay. There were a few maintenance issues that could be addressed for the price of the room. The grout in the tile around the tub and in the shower was falling out and had gaps, the shower leaked water out of the shower every time we would shower to the point water would go over the whole bathroom floor and then become very slippery. My wife almost fell. A variety of coffee creamers would be nice instead of just half and half. The bed was very comfy and clean and we did enjoy our stay.

Miserably uncomfortable beds, flat pillows and uncomfortably hot. The “air conditioner” barely functioned in either of our rooms and regularly shut itself off without ever reaching the temps we set it at. The pillows have no substance and we had to stack 2 or 3 to sleep - even then, our arms kept falling asleep. There was dirt and hair in the shower behind the door as if the housekeeping never enters the shower to clean it fully and just cleans from the open door. The pillow cases were stained (or at least I hope they were just stains) with hair dye or ink. Apart from that, pretty clean. Staff was friendly. The worst thing was the “view” we paid for. It was non-exists t. You get either a view of an interior courtyard or what they call a “city” view which is just of the larger buildings all around the hotel since the hotel is only 4 stories high. It was 100% not worth the extra price we paid for it.

The JW Marriott had everything I wanted in a 4 star hotel. Soft comfy beds, I literally fell asleep moments after my head hit the pillows, welcoming staff and quiet rooms. The location was walkable to restaurants and the trains. The rooms were clean and the bathroom also had a light up magnifying mirror which made putting on make-up and mascara so much easier. I'll definitely stay here again for my next trip to Chicago.

Very nice property, well kept, great staff. Top of the line hotel fitness facility. The downsides were: A charge for seemingly everything, felt nickeled and dimed. Charge for reserving on a non-Marriott site. Charge for Wifi. Was supposed to get free wifi, but didn't always connect and had to spend 40 minutes with Marriott IT. A nightly occurrence. Only one elevator bank for guests on one of the four hotel sides. If your room is on the opposite side, plan for a LONG walk and extra time to get there. Ridiculous that there are multiple staff elevators and one guest elevator bank. No grab and go breakfast options like The Autograph around the corner.

There was no view and had many hidden charges after we prepaid Hotel.com

Birthday weekend getaway/Mamas weekend away! My girl friend and I enjoyed our stay here. The customer service was amazing from the concierge to the bell hop and front desk staff. Loved having a drink at the hotel bar in the evening. Everything was top notch! I loved that our bartender knew so much about the area and different popular destinations from dining to attractions. Stayed on the fourth floor, and was impressed by the amount of privacy we had in our "hallway." Once exiting the elevator, I used my key card to open a door to another "hallway" that only had two rooms in it. So quaint, so quiet. Loved it! The beds are so comfortable! Would definitely stay here again.

We arrived a little early, and the staff was wonderful and helpful. Hotel was clean. Only bad thing I can say is that I paid for a room with a street view, but got a courtyard view. However, we weren’t there much during the daylight anyway, but would’ve been nice.

The location is great. The hotel is old and needs updating. I could hear my neighbors and anyone in the hall. The bed was old and really uncomfortable. Not worth the money spent

2 queen beds for 3 of us was perfect! Room was very big and bathroom was huge. Usually don’t stay in the loop but will definitely stay here again based on the quality/size of the rooms.

Beautiful property and perfect location. Customer service was great at check in upon arrival. When I went the concierge desk totally different. She was on her personal phone. I said excuse me more than once. Right when I told my husband let’s just go she picked up her head. I never been to Chicago and just wanted information as far as taxi service in the area. She was RUDE. I never experienced any issues like that at Marriot. After that any question I had the front desk and the bell hops were amazing. I just refused to go back to the concierge desk after that experience.

Martin, the server in the lounge and the concierge woman were the kindest, most hospitable staff we encountered. Everyone else was snobbish, I was treated as a bother. I had a staff person just walk into our room unannounced. Really scared us. I plan to follow up with the hotel directly on this and other matters. How people are treated matters. Do better, Marriott.

This hotel was superlative in every way. Each member of the staff was extremely respectful, courteous, and efficient. It is well maintained and quite luxurious. Wonderful location! Walking along the busy, noisy streets of Chicago is fun, but it is nice to walk in the lobby and find an oasis of calm and quiet. I will definitely stay here again!

Niki was amazing! She gave us suggestions on where to dine and go out. Anything we needed she assisted us with. The staff overall were all welcoming and had some of the best customer service I’ve ever experienced.

We came to Chicago to celebrate my son’s birthday. The staff at this JW Marriott went above and beyond to make our stay special. I was able to arrange a special celebration cake to be sent to the room, plus they sent chocolate-covered strawberries (his favorite)! We booked a room with Executive Lounge access and it did not disappoint. My son was very satisfied with the breakfast - I wish I had stopped in to get myself a bagel. The desserts later in the evening were a nice touch, as well. We did not go during the hors d'oeuvre hours. All of the staff that we interacted with were lovely - engineering came in the first evening due to the phone not working, which was easily fixed. Housekeeping / turndown service was a nice touch and would always inquire whether we needed anything. The room service menu is a tad limited, but we were able to find items that we enjoyed with some recommendations from in room dining. Note - if you are in a 2 bed room, I recommend requesting a rolling table vs. a tray for the food, as the small table or nightstand are not big enough to eat off of, especially for 2 people. There are benches at the end of each bed that work perfect when eating off the room service table. The hotel is located close to public transportation, plus it is easy to order a ride share. Would definitely stay at this property again. Next time, I would love to book a spa treatment, as the other guests we met had nothing but praise for the spa.

They moved me to another hotel because they overbooked. The seminar I was attending was in there hotel. The absolute worst.

Great location with easy access along the Loop. Plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. Hotel was clean and well appointed for everything we needed.

It was perfect for walking to most dining and also to marathon start and finish which is why we were in town. The room was spacious and beds comfy. I would definitely stay again if coming back to area mostly because of the ease of walking to most locations including millennium park and the art institute.

The hotel is very good, Good located, but after 9:00 pm it is very dangerous to walk on the streets around the hotel, the hotel does not have its own parking but has vale park service.

Overall an average stay in a nice hotel . Seems like too far from most of the activities

The service and amenities at the hotel are exceptional. It is in the business district so quiet on the weekends, but centrally located and easily walkable to many major sights in the City. There are very good dining options nearby too.

Hotel room was very clean and a good size for 2 people. Happy there were dining options and room service but the prices were astronomical! $8 for a soda! Come on…just ridiculous including the service charges!

Very pricey but we felt very pampered! Even though it was a lot of money the food lounge on the 12th floor was incredible!! We felt like we had our own chef!! Sooo delicious!! The beds were like sleeping on pillows! We didn’t want to leave!!

The hotel was conveniently located and easily walkable to everything we wanted to do in and around Chicago. Went to the lobby bar a couple nights. Prompt service with a smile!

The professionalism of the manager inside Florentine was very unprofessional. We were looked over literally 5 times as I sat there and counted. Only to be “accidentally” heavily over charged at the end of the night. Definitely rushed and menu was not explained. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant if it was the last option. I'm definitely exposing this place to my 2.5 mil followers on social media so most would know. If you are of color you are not treated equal here. To watch the manager decline helping the server deliver plates because of our skin color was sad to see as he helped plently of tables besides ours. Hotel king room/suite had no microwaves. Hotel is too pricey to not have full amenities.

Wonderful stay!! Hotel was super clean and nice, all the amenities are amazing!! Close to all the downtown Chicago attractions. Everything was within walking distance. Loved the fact there was room service until midnight and two restaurants and a bar on site. Will stay again.

The staff did a fine job. We had booked a room with access to the Executive Lounge and were informed upon checkin that the lounge closed at 12pm on Fridays and Saturdays (week days it's open until 10pm). This was a huge disappointment. Moreover the second restaurant in the building is closed. The room itself is average to slightly above average. The JW Marriott is a fine hotel but it is not a luxury hotel.

I loved the room, comfortable temperature with no noisy AC. Very peaceful. There were a lot of renovations going on outside and therefore dining was limited to the lounge area cafe. Food and staff were good. I never found it difficult to find a taxi. It was a nice hotel.

Great location. Walk a few blocks one way and can use the water taxi services, walk a few blocks the other way and can use the subway. Or you can walk to the riverwalk or millennium park in 15-20ish minutes. Lots to do nearby. The iconic Berghoff and Italian Village restaurants are very close by. This was our first time going and we did everything! The hotel is beautiful, the room was immaculate, used the soaking tub every night, the Florentine restaurant is on the 2nd floor of this hotel and had amazing italian food. But the room service was, by far, the best experience! 5 star service! I could not have picked a better hotel to stay in for the area.
