Stayed 3 nights

We have stayed in this hotel many times in the last 4 to 5 years whilst visiting relatives. The staff are excellent and welcoming. However, since the recent takeover and refurbishment of the rooms, the experience at this hotel is extremely poor. It has been changed into an "airport hotel" designed for a brief overnight stay and is now totally unsuitable for a stay of several days. There are a number of issues which the on-site staff seem totally incapable of resolving due to Hotel policy. 1. The lighting is far too dim and it it difficult to see things adequately. 2. There is Insufficient storage space for clothes & other personal belongings if staying more than 1 night - no drawers or reasonable height shelves. 3. The hanger spaces are far too narrow and the top to bottom space is not deep enough for long garments. 4. There is also insufficient shelf/storage space in bathroom for toiletries. 5. There is only 1 chair in a room provided for 2 people so someone has to sit on the bed. 6. There is also only 1 table so it is virtually impossible for 2 people to eat a room service meal. 7. The bedside light switch is awkwardly placed and hard to reach without getting out of bed. 8. There is no drinks/wine menu available in the restaurant. 9. A £10 per night parking fee is unacceptable for blue badge holders. In short, this redesign seems to have be done by an amateur without any thought given to the practicalities of guests staying with any degree of comfort or satisfaction.

The hotel was nice overall. Really disappointed room wasn't ready till 4.30 when it should have been ready at 3pm. Caused us to be late for our plans.

Parking was a struggle, took £100 damage deposit (told me £50) and I’ve still not had it back 5 days later. Also had to pay for parking. Breakfast was good though and only £10 if your a member

Stayed 1 night

Booked a room with a sofa bed, but no sofa bed was found in the room. Apparently sone of the rooms have not been finished yet. During the second stay, there was no cold water pressure so was unable to have a shower. The shower was either scolding hot, but as soon as the cold water was switched on there was not enough pressure so the shower stopped working. Breakfast staff were friendly. You could tell the staff were aware and shared frustrations of things not working or being where they should have been. Definitely would not recommend in its current state.
