I stayed here for a weekend getaway in October and had a lovely time. I actually booked through Hotels.com, which saved me a few hundred dollars but was still very pricey. I love staying in SoHo, though, and you pay for that. This hotel is definitely starting to show its age and the room is due for a renovation. That said, it was a very thoughtfully designed space, with multiple outdoor levels at the bottom and a great rooftop bar. We stayed in a slightly upgraded room that had a skyline view of FiDi, which I really enjoyed. I also like the layout of the bathroom, which had a very large rain shower. The staff was friendly and they were quick to bring ice to the room. Housekeeping freshened up during the day and provided new towels. However, the internet said it was five stars when this was really four star service. You can’t beat the location and the proximity to the Canal St subway stop. I would return!

Service was essentially non existent. The shower tiles were dirty. I️ could barely handle standing on my tippy toes while showering. They claimed parking with in and out privileges but it was just $10 off/day at a parking garage 2 blocks away with no in and out (and they climbed through the passenger seat when it was time to get our car back bc they squeeze the cars in so tight). I️ will not be staying here again.

Great location, friendly helpful staff and good facilities. Room and bathroom size large for New York. Only issue was noise from street (even on 11th floor), from other rooms and from partygoers on roof terrace (located on 17th floor)!

Rooftop bar (JIMMY) has one of the best views in the city. You're paying for it, but not a gouge any worse than other rooftops in Manhattan. Generally very good service, although breakfast was a little slow and casual. My King room was just what I wanted - compact but not cramped. A/C is very quiet, no loud blower or switching to keep you up. Wish there was a minibar but appreciated Nespresso machine. If you're looking to save money, don't stay in SoHo. But if you're going to stay in SoHo, you should do as well as ModernHaus offers.

It looked better in the pictures. The room could have used some slippers, and the cleaning crew seemed to do the bare minimum. I often found crumbs on the floor from the night before, even after it was supposedly cleaned.

The staff were amazing! The bed was very comfortable and showers water pressure was spot on. The only problem would have been the heavy condensation around the window and the far left corner where the lamp stand was heavily dripping water from the ceiling. Could have been the room above us who might had there AC running but overall enjoyed our stay.

My first stay at this property (about a year ago) was great. This second stay was so-so. Check-in: The process was quick and the gentleman at the front desk was courteous, although he was sick, so it was somewhat off putting considering he didn’t wash his hands/sanitize each time he coughed/ blew his nose before touching the room keys, etc. Room: The room wasn’t properly cleaned when we arrived. There were dirty hand print smudges on the mirror in the bathroom, a huge clump of hair left in the shower, hair on the bathroom floor and even hairs on the towels. The cups in the bathrooms were visibly dirty and I had to call to get them replaced. Not a good start to our stay. The FF&E was considerably beat up, with the finish of the closets peeling off and scratched up. Pros: The bed and pillows were very comfy. Room Size: They advertise the Modern King rooms as 300-315sq ft but our room felt considerably smaller than that. It felt very tight with not much room to unpack and store our bags. Location: The location is awesome, especially if you want to be in SoHo. Easy walking distance to all of the luxury stores, galleries and restaurants. One of the reasons why I booked this property. Service: was just okay. No one was particularly pleasant or enthusiastic to be working. But I guess that’s kind of the climate today. Also, many of the workers were visibly sick and blowing their noses constantly. Definitely grossed me out.

I stayed here about a month ago and I write this review as I sit in a different, nearby hotel reminiscing on my stay and wishing I was there & not here lol. From the moment I walked in the staff was super kind and helpful. Shout out to the woman with golden wavy hair, you are so welcoming & knowledgeable. Everything about this hotel is beautiful— the rooms, rooftop, bar, view. It is super clean! The rooms are big, beautifully decorated, and come with blackout curtains. The bed and bedding was super comfy and the shower was lovely. The toiletries provided are high quality and the robes are luxurious. The cleaners were always kind and did a great job (be sure to tip them for their hard work). The neighborhood was bustling & cute, but not too overwhelming. The only thing I would note is that the pool is pretty small, but I don’t think that’s very important with how amazing everything else was. Stay here! You won’t regret it.

Modernhaus is a beautiful hotel for a great Soho experience. The rooms are very spacious with great views. They're also quiet and the temperature control is very good. The bathroom is really well lit and while it has only minimal surface space to put toiletries, at least it has some. The closet is divided for his and hers which is a nice touch. There are bedside tables with a small drawer, another unusual feature in hotels these days! But there are no dressers or drawers for clothing storage. And unfortunate oversight. However, the location is perfect and so many other features of the hotel are great.

Great location. Nice hotel. The front desk staff were inattentive, quite literally stood there and watched my wife struggle with her luggage down the odd stairs to get to the elevator and did a poor job at telling us about any amenities or the hotel. Will not stay again.

We had a great stay at ModernHaus SoHo. The front desk was incredibly nice and helpful - we communicated with them via text during our stay to ask questions about the property and get recommendations in the surrounding area. They also gave us complimentary champagne and put us in a corner unit, which we very much appreciated. SoHo was the perfect place for a first-time New York visit - lots of excellent pizza, shopping, and bagels nearby!

You can text the front desk at any time and speak with a real human. Loved it! Used it multiple times. My travel companion left a family heirloom ring in the room by accident when we checked out. I texted when we realized while at the airport. The staff quickly went to the room and found the ring, then mailed it to his address. Above and beyond service!

For almost $700 you can find a much better hotel. Service was not the best. Staff was not very helpful and acted annoyed. Concierge Made a reservation at 23 grand for us, when we arrived the res was never made. The manager at the restaurant was very accommodating and although we had to wait, was very apologetic. Room was very basic and sub par. If you are staying in Soho, stay at the Nomo. Same price, beautiful rooms, excellent service.

Got to the hotel late and was dog tired. Was greeted with the warmest, nicest front desk staff ever - Kristy and Allen. Kristy truly went out of her way to be extremely helpful and accommodating. Hotel was great, room was great but Kristy and Allen were the REAL STARS. This morning front desk staff was also very nice but I was busy catching an uber to the airport so there was not as much contact. Would stay there again in a heart beat.

Amazing experience with this hotel. They treated us first class and even welcome us with a bottle of champagne to celebrate our engagement. Kristy at the front desk was world class in terms of customer service and we are definitely going to stay there again.

This hotel is unique, loved the decoration, the bars and the restaurant is amazing. The bed is super comfy.You can walk around soho, lots of shops, coffees, trendy restaurants, little italy and chinatown is near. Not so far from brooklyn and time square. The hotel is nice and very welcoming.

I’ve stayed at this hotel before when it was the James. Love everything about this property. The breakfast is wonderful, Jimmys on the rooftop was so much fun. The rooms are clean. The staff was exceptional, especially want to give a shoutout to Kristy and Adam who made our stay so special. The only negative was the vape detector in the room somewhere. When I checked out, they charged me a $500 smoking fee which I quickly disputed, as I am not a smoker or a vaper. It was really not a great way to leave such a phenomenal stay. Thankfully, the charge was removed today. The management should tell the customer that they have that system in place in their room, and then the client can choose whether to smoke or vape in their room and incur a fine. Otherwise, it’s kind of like hiding a hidden camera in peoples’ rooms without their knowledge. Just an FYI if you stay here and are a smoker. Otherwise, my experience and stay at Moderhaus SoHo was exceptional.

My one night stay at ModernHaus Soho was good. Room was clean/updated and very adequate for a short stay. I had breakfast in their cafe. Food was good; service was lacking. Was never offered refill on coffee. Server did not come back to table to check on us. Only got their attention to pay check when I put my coat on and stood up to leave.

I enjoyed the breakfast everyday! The views from my room were spectacular! The bed was very comfortable. The only thing that I didn’t like was no microwave in the room. The restaurant in the hotel did not have a way to warm up food.

Being a VIP member, I was upgraded to a lovely studio queen room with beautiful city views (we had a great view of the Freedim tower and sun rises and sun sets). The rain shower was lovely as were the automated shades/black out curtains. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable too and the breakfast at Jumpin Jacks top notch. The rooftop bar was also elegant and cozy. would stay here again

This is a beautiful, well maintained hotel. The rooms are spacious (by New York standards) and elegant. The staff was great. There are good bar and dining options in the hotel and all around. It's close to the subway and the Holland Tunnel. I highly recommend it.
