La Posada del Sol Boutique Hotel Tulum

This property was absolutely beautiful! Check in was seamless and the staff was so friendly! There's a super cute boutique in the hotel. We also had complimentary breakfast that was light, but great! The hotel is on the ocean side of Tulum, about a 15 min bike ride to the city center. There are lots of cute shops, beach clubs, and restaurants walking and biking distance from the hotel. They also have private beach access with chairs to lay out. The room has AC and it is gorgeous! It's about a 15-20 minute bike ride from the Mayan ruins and Cenote Encantando. Renting bikes was easy the hotel set us up with Bikes for 300 pesos for the whole day. There's also scooter and ATV rentals near the hotel. There is no parking for any rental cars, but honestly there's no need for a rental car unless you're traveling all over Mexico. Overall wonderful experience and would definitely go back!

I love the area where La Posada is located because you have direct access to the beach and launches with umbrellas to enjoy the view and spend a whole day by the beach. The reservation included breakfast. The portions were good and tasted delicious. I am very picky with my coffee but the coffee they gave me was on point. I would recommend this place for couples or a solo traveler or small group ( I have stayed here with my 2 sisters before). Next time I am in Tulum, will keep the tradition of staying here. This hotel has a very cool aesthetic and is very private. Room was very clean and the staff was super helpful. WIFI is fairly abundant in the area. The included breakfast is small but prepared individually. No TV, so if you need to watch shows, bring a tablet. We didn't encounter many other guests so it felt exclusive. Plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. Pay attention to the Sargassum/algae season if you want to use the beaches

Conveniently located between the uber-high end resorts to the south, Tulum town, Muyil, cenotes, and Mayan Ruins. A/C included from night until morning. You'll pay $10 a day (cash) to have it run during the day. Well worth it. Breakfast included in the morning. Very nice and accommodating staff. No elevator so get some help and expect to lug up stairs depending where your room is. Ours was a top floor, corner unit with big slider windows overlooking the cliffs, the neighboring beach club, with sweeping ocean views.

I enjoyed my stay here. I was able to park in designated spots directly across the street from the hotel. The room was right on the beach with our own patio at the door with an outdoor lounging BED! I stayed in the coral room and would definitely stay there again. We ate at the restaurants situated on both sides of the hotel and there is a pizza place across the street, all within a minute of the hotel. The other reviews about the breakfast being light were accurate but it was included and fine for me-everything was prepared fresh and delicious. I was out adventuring through Tulum during the day but upon returning to the hotel each night we turned on the ac and got the room to a cool (not cold) temp that was comfortable for sleeping. We always felt safe. Unfortunately, the beach and water was covered in seaweed, so we did not get in the water (although some people did) but I laid in the sun on the beach and our patio. Staff was attentive and helpful. The first night, I found the bed a little firm for my taste and requested extra pillows that were waiting for me when I got back. I am grateful for the wonderful experience, —off the beaten path in a space with such unique architecture and design that felt exotic, private and truly special.

Perfect stay for a night on our honeymoon! The rooms were clean and lovely, and we had a nice private pool on the balcony. The air conditioning worked super well and there was a nice private-ish beach on the property. The staff were friendly and accommodating, helping us make dinner reservations and recommending the best nightlife in Tulum! We would definitely stay here again!

There was no electricity and water present at this hotel and it was extremely hot. We were the only ones there and it was dark and no staff except the security gaurd who didnt understand us was on site. We asked to be accommodated to another hotel that has power.

Un poco más rústico de lo que pensé no hay televisión las camas tienen mosquitero no está agradable, el aire acondicionado comentaron que lo prendían de 9 pm a 9 am lo cual no me parece pero amablemente la chava de recepción se ofreció en encenderlo a las 5 pm que llegué eso estuvo bien porque el calor es muy fuerte, no recomendaría quedarse más de 1 noche, en general estuvo bien porque íbamos de paso, la playa no es la más bonita de la zona. El estacionamiento es un tema ya que casi no hay, el desayuno es un plus, estuvo ok lo que incluía

Everything was clean and pristine when we arrived and the staff were so helpful throughout the stay (they even gave us a cooler to keep ice in our room to keep the drinks cold!). The included breakfast is simple but delicious and we enjoyed it every morning out in the courtyard with the morning breeze. The private plunge pool was absolutely essential and made the stay even more relaxing. We went in the off season, so the beach had a lot of seaweed, but we had done our research so we expected this and we still enjoyed the beach area, the deck and beach chairs. We had a lovely experience overall and would definitely recommend this hotel for couples or eco-friendly travelers.

Great location with amazing oceanfront views, excellent service from hotel staff, very attentive. Good healthy breakfast to start the day . Easy beach access with private relaxing beach.

The water smelled weird , there was bugs everywhere and ants /mosquitoes. We was told to use the water in the glass container to brush our teeth. The ac was only on from 9 pm till 8 am. I asked Can it be put on earlier they said you had pay an additional 10$ per day. The breakfast was supposed to be included the only option was a small bowl of fruits or 2 eggs and toast we didn’t eat breakfast at all and the other options you had to pay for it all. The beach was filled with seaweed all over , there was no way to actually bathe in the ocean. The stairs to get to the room were very unsafe and not built properly anyone could fall going up and down because they shake. I asked the room to be decorated for my anniversary and they charged me 80$ for paper hearts hanging and 10 deflated balloons on the bed and some flowers . Around the area the restaurants kept inventing different currencies everytime we Bought food . There wasn’t a tv , no microwave or fridge . They provided a small container of soap for one wash only. Overall it was a waste of money and not worth our time at all. I definitely will read reviews and won’t be visiting Tulum again. They extorted us in every activity we did as well.

We had the most incredible time at this boutique hotel! Extremely clean, excellent service with everyone. Our check in staff was Arnold and he was extremely helpful and kind with everything. Our hotel was on the beach front so it was just magical waking up to the ocean everyday. Before coming in, David reached out via WhatsApp to help us with reserving restaurants and providing recommendations. We would definitely stay here again!

This is a great safe quiet hotel right on the beach. It is a boutique hotel so it's very small. The room we had was amazing BUT there was no way to close the bathroom door (we had to keep putting the trash can to try to close it which didn't really work). The bathroom was very large and the shower worked well. We had a balcony with an outdoor tub. Just note, the tub outside cannot be filled with hot water only cold water (we asked). We only dealt with David and he was terrific! He helped us set up our daily tours (we would pay a deposit to him and he would register us for whatever tour we wanted and we would pay the rest to the tour company). He was helpful in choosing places to visit, means of transportation, and getting a taxi. He made the trip enjoyable and easy! He was great I highly recommend you contacting him and asking for his help with tours/transportation/recommendations! The hotel was VERY clean and our room was cleaned daily.

Die Posada del Sol liegt direkt an einem wunderschönen, kleinen öffentlichen Strand und 8st etwas für Romantiker. Wir hatten ein superior Zimmer mit Meerblick gebucht. Das Meer konnte man zwar wegen der Palmen nur erahnen, aber es war schön im Pueblo Stil eingerichtet. den heftigen Regengüssen waren die alten und morschen Fenster leider nicht mehr gewachsen. Das Personal sehr hilfsbereit, freundlich und auch für nette Gespräche offen. Es gab ein kleines nettes Frühstück. Rund um das Hotel gab es einige wenige Geschäfte und Lokale. Danach versperren große Hotels hinter Stacheldraht den Zugang zum Wasser.

I would highly avoid staying at this property. Several of the "amenities" they have on their listing are untrue. For starters, the AC they have listed is conditional and they only turn the power on from 9pm-8am. By the afternoon the room is nearly unusable as the concrete room retains large amounts of heat. Since the room is poorly sealed when the AC was available it takes a long time to actually cool off. The room itself is a mess. Many of the doors and windows barely close and lock making it feel quite insecure. Bugs are welcome to come in. Even the staircase to my room was shaky as it was rusted in several key spots. The sheets I had replaced on my second day had yellowish stains on them. It was very unkept. I would have been better staying if a treehouse. The staff is completely unhelpful. They say one thing and do the complete opposite. I was told I could us the fridge in the common area to store leftovers only to find all my left ones in the trash by the next day. When you bring the problems to their attention they just ignore them and say tough luck. The private beach is not private as it is just a private entrance to the public beach. Besides the large amounts of seaweed on the beach the parts under the water were relatively rock free after the first few feet. Save your money and go to any of the other number of properties around. This place is a joke of hospitality and will scam you right out of your money.

Staff was really nice, good location in front the beach. Just a lack of privacy with the bathroom / toilets (no wall ahaha). Plus the breakfast in included :)

We stayed here 7 years ago and had a great experience in a standard room, this time we upgraded to a room with a balcony and a private little pool overlooking the ocean, and we paid good money for the upgrade. The pool had no movement, still water that was dirty, so we did not use it. It lacked little things like hooks in the bathroom to hang your towels, a full length mirror to see how you look like before leaving, a table to put whatever on, computer, food, etc…we were so excited for the upgrade as a treat as we never do that because of money, but it was our anniversary, so we decided to splurge, we wish we stayed in a standard room instead.

Overall I had a good stay in the property. I stayed at the coral room which was on the bottom floor and the doors opened right to the 10 steps from the beach which was great. The view from the room is the ocean! The only thing is the curtains were slightly transparent and being on the ground floor I had to be careful. Because of this, the lights would also come through the room very easily so you will wake up when the sun is out. The hot water for shower was a hit a miss. But the bathroom was clean. The room has an AC which was helpful as it was hot and humid when I was there. The breakfast was a good addition. It was made to order and fresh. The portions were a little small but I asked for more bread when I was not enough. All the staff were excellent. They were very helpful and available for questions whenever I had them. I liked to location of the hotel. They have multiple restaurants in walking distance. Overall it was a good stay. Sleeping to the sound of the waves, waking up the views was completely worth it!

The particular room we had at the Posada del Sol, with its own plunge pool, clear view of the sea, and a strong breeze day and night, was perfect. Every member of the staff was friendly and competent. The Posada’s location was great: it’s in the first cluster of restaurants, boutique hotels, specialty shops, and convenient stores in Tulum’s beach hotel zone. And, by the way, at least in February, 2023, a taxi into Tulum town was only about $17, not the $25 we had been led to expect. As we had been warned, the seaweed made the ocean unattractive for swimming for us (but not to others), but it did not interfere with beach sunbathing. In short, La Posada del Sol is wonderful.

HORRIBLE experience!! Please read before you consider staying here. We booked a three-night stay in May 2024 through Expedia and we quickly left after staying one night. We couldn’t get out of there fast enough!! There were ants in the bed all night, they only provide air conditioning between 9 pm-9 am, the water coming out of the sink faucet/shower is not safe for drinking nor brushing your teeth, and it was overall a very uncomfortable experience dealing with this hotel's management team. First, the hotel room was an overall uncomfortable place to stay. The hotel room had none of the typical comforts that can be expected in Mexico for the same price: No phone, no TV, no fridge, and basically no furniture. The straw that broke the camel’s back for me was that the mattress was also hard as a rock and both of us were very uncomfortable. Bugs could easily enter the room as the air conditioning machine, windows, and door had small gaps and were not properly sealed. I woke up around 6:30 am and took pictures of the ants crawling around the bed and my partner and I were horrified. We also had several mosquitoes in our bedroom that night. When I booked our stay on Expedia this hotel's page on Expedia says they have AC, a shower, and a sink. All very misleading. They only provide air conditioning between 9 pm-9 am which was not clearly stated prior to booking. It took over an hour for the small wall AC to cool the room down. So whatever temperature it is outside that’s the tempe

My recent stay at La Posada del Sol in Tulum was extremely disappointing. It was a disastrous experience compared to my previous visits to other boutiques in Tulum. The service was nearly non-existent, and the staff's rudeness was astonishing. To make matters worse, we were left without water for showers or basic hygiene, which is unacceptable for any accommodation. What made the situation even more frustrating was the staff's apparent awareness of our hardships but their refusal to acknowledge or address them. This last visit was a far cry from the amazing experiences I had at other places in Tulum. I would strongly advise against staying here until they make significant improvements in their service and infrastructure."

The service was exceptional, Arnold took care of all our reservations and even had me desserts prepared at our dinners because it was my birthday 🎂. The posada is really cute just as you see it in the pictures. For those using a car it is super convenient that they have parking spaces. Great place.

From the moment I booked this hotel, I was in touch with the property using WhatsApp. It was a great experience. Gabriel and David, both of whom work in the front desk, are super friendly. Gabriel helped upgrade my room to one with a plunge pool. When we arrived at the hotel, went straight out to see the beach. Great location. My boys absolutely loved it. The hotel is beautiful and unique. The room was simple, modern looking in a unique way and just perfect. Our room was on the top floor and completely private patio. In the morning, looking at the sunrise, from my patio was just a unique experience. The room was very clean. The breakfast was great and hit the spot daily. The 3 ladies who work there were so nice and friendly. We got the eggs, pancake and yogurt granola bowl daily. Super fresh and tasty. Gabriel arranged all daily activities / tours I wanted. We went to Chichen Itza as well as Sian Kaan. The fact that it’s a boutique hotel is that they help you make all the arrangements. He also arranged for the taxi to take us to the meeting location and back. Gabriel also arranged for the bicycle rental and got a smaller bike for my younger son. I wished I could have stayed there forever… it’s that nice and beautiful. If I ever get the chance, I will definitely go back there. It was a wonderful experience.

The property is right on the beach so you can just step outside and leave your valuables inside your room. Lots of chairs and areas to lay on. Quiet and secluded for you to relax and enjoy. The staff was also super friendly and helpful.

boutique hotel that 20 years old we were ocean front and it was very windy so we could sleep with the winds open and hear the waves which great no ac during the day which was fine for us because of the wind ac only ran during the night there was a hot water issue but that was resolved price was reasonable you get 2 “half” cups of coffee with the included breakfast a 3rd half cup will cost you $3.50 after 2 days of this I insisted on a full cup! Food preparation ladies were rude. Taxi service in Tulum is ridiculous for example $25 us to go 4 miles will probably be our 1 and only trip to Tulum we travel Mexico a lot FYI new Tulum airport is very nice

Super lækkert hotel, det lækker bare forkert hvis man kigger på billederne og tænker at det er et roligt sted hvor man kan slappe af, da der er musik og larm fra andre hoteller døgnet rundt. Venligt personale. Meget kedelig og lille mængde morgenmad man får medmindre man vil betale ekstra ekstra, selv om man har har betalt for morgenmad en gang.

Sehr schönes Hotel mit Strand, wie auf den Fotos, leider sehr viele Algen am Strand, wird an anderen Stränden besser gelöst. Frühstück war sehr teuer. Zimmer war toll!

Great location with great beach access

We were very happy with the location and beautiful environment of La Posada del Sol. It was definitely the Tulum vibe—rustic, but had some very nice touches that made our trip feel special.

This property was absolutely beautiful! Check in was seamless and the staff was so friendly! There's a super cute boutique in the hotel. We also had complimentary breakfast that was light, but great! The hotel is on the ocean side of Tulum, about a 15 min bike ride to the city center. There are lots of cute shops, beach clubs, and restaurants walking and biking distance from the hotel. They also have private beach access with chairs to lay out. The room has AC and it is gorgeous! It's about a 15-20 minute bike ride from the Mayan ruins and Cenote Encantando. Renting bikes was easy the hotel set us up with Bikes for 300 pesos for the whole day. There's also scooter and ATV rentals near the hotel. There is no parking for any rental cars, but honestly there's no need for a rental car unless you're traveling all over Mexico. Overall wonderful experience and would definitely go back!

Venligt personale. Meget kedelig og lille mængde morgenmad man får medmindre man vil betale ekstra ekstra, selv om man har har betalt for morgenmad en gang.

This hotel has a very cool aesthetic and is very private. Room was very clean and the staff was super helpful. WIFI is fairly abundant in the area. The included breakfast is small but prepared individually. No TV, so if you need to watch shows, bring a tablet. We didn't encounter many other guests so it felt exclusive. Plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. Pay attention to the Sargassum/algae season if you want to use the beaches

Sehr schönes Hotel mit Strand, wie auf den Fotos, leider sehr viele Algen am Strand, wird an anderen Stränden besser gelöst. Frühstück war sehr teuer. Zimmer war toll!

I enjoyed my stay here. I was able to park in designated spots directly across the street from the hotel. The room was right on the beach with our own patio at the door with an outdoor lounging BED! I stayed in the coral room and would definitely stay there again. We ate at the restaurants situated on both sides of the hotel and there is a pizza place across the street, all within a minute of the hotel. The other reviews about the breakfast being light were accurate but it was included and fine for me-everything was prepared fresh and delicious. I was out adventuring through Tulum during the day but upon returning to the hotel each night we turned on the ac and got the room to a cool (not cold) temp that was comfortable for sleeping. We always felt safe. Unfortunately, the beach and water was covered in seaweed, so we did not get in the water (although some people did) but I laid in the sun on the beach and our patio. Staff was attentive and helpful. The first night, I found the bed a little firm for my taste and requested extra pillows that were waiting for me when I got back. I am grateful for the wonderful experience, —off the beaten path in a space with such unique architecture and design that felt exotic, private and truly special.

The view was STUNNING. The room was beautifully decorated and felt luxurious. Everything was clean and pristine when we arrived and the staff were so helpful throughout the stay (they even gave us a cooler to keep ice in our room to keep the drinks cold!). The included breakfast is simple but delicious and we enjoyed it every morning out in the courtyard with the morning breeze. The private plunge pool was absolutely essential and made the stay even more relaxing. We went in the off season, so the beach had a lot of seaweed, but we had done our research so we expected this and we still enjoyed the beach area, the deck and beach chairs. We had a lovely experience overall and would definitely recommend this hotel for couples or eco-friendly travelers.

I read the reviews on this property after I booked it. I didn't have any of the problems most people posted about. I was able to use the air conditioner all day at no extra cost. I booked this hotel because I wanted something more rustic. There was no TV, microwave, or refrigerator. But I expected that since I looked at the pictures. I had the “garden view” there wasn’t a garden but there was lots of vegetation. Still beautiful though. The free breakfast wasn’t Continental just eggs, beans and bread.

boutique hotel that 20 years old we were ocean front and it was very windy so we could sleep with the winds open and hear the waves which great no ac during the day which was fine for us because of the wind ac only ran during the night there was a hot water issue but that was resolved price was reasonable you get 2 “half” cups of coffee with the included breakfast a 3rd half cup will cost you $3.50 after 2 days of this I insisted on a full cup! Food preparation ladies were rude. Taxi service in Tulum is ridiculous for example $25 us to go 4 miles will probably be our 1 and only trip to Tulum we travel Mexico a lot FYI new Tulum airport is very nice

Beautiful property right on the ocean! Breakfast every morning was made just for us and was delicious- I would definitely stay here again!
