A wonderful hotel, and a great location. My room was spacious and had a Jacuzzi overlooking the Pacific. The Eden private pool area was a wonderful refuge. The gym was small, but nice. The shows at the rooftop bar with lively and fun. Overall great experience.

Amenities are great. Mantamar Pool Parties, Mantamar Beach Access/Lounge Chairs, Eden Pool, Top Bar breakfast are all great. Only complaint is the construction every day at the Mantamar Tower. Loud, noisy, drilling early in the morning and throughout the day.... Impossible to sleeep in, nap or rest after long days and long nights.

The facilities are nice. The pools close at 7pm and 8 pm. The staff seems to tolerate more than welcome gay people. They attempt to close the facilities earlier than the posted closing time for things you have paid to use. Better to stay somewhere more welcoming

Property really nice, had a great room with a nice sea view, infinity pool really nice with fantastic sunsets. Pool staff really good. Reception welcome not so good, so many rules to go through then after that your passed onto the concierge welcome who try to schedule you to buy timeshare. Not great after travelling a day and half. Reception team on checkout quite rude. But overall hotel nice, food good.

The property is ok , but it is over priced for regular access to reclining chairs at pool and beach . We had to pay for any extras , no free food except 2 bottles of water a day we spend over 1000$ in food and drinks in 7 days and half of meals we had somewhere else .

Location, pool, and beach access via the Mantamar club are phenomenal. Food is ok, would say go into town to one of the many great restaurants instead but convenient if you want to stay on resort. Spa treatments were ok, but again, cheaper better options in town but convenient on resort. There is not really a resort bar to hang out at, they seat you at a table at the top sky bar which is a little odd to me but maybe you like that sort of thing. The staff there felt a little bit rude to me as a solo traveler who doesn’t drink alcohol but maybe were just joking and I didn’t get it :) I didn’t have any issues with timeshare presentations or check in/out problems, shady staff, AC, or any of the other issues in some of the reviews I have read. Room was very nice/clean/updated and the typical nice hotel chilly air conditioning. I’m not a big partier any more and the vibe here is definitely gay party/boozin’ so probably wouldn’t stay again, but the resort was beautiful and they do a wonderful job. Solid 4/5

BEAUTIFUL resort. It has everything you could ask for, definitely caters more towards gay men and has an option for whichever is your way to enjoy.. There’s Mantamar Beach Club, which is a great pool party atmosphere with beach access and wait staff to bring you a good selection of food and drinks. The roof top bar was great for breakfast and every night they had drag shows and other entertainment that wasn’t bad. Eden is more chill and super relaxing, and that 50m infinity pool is really something. Very nice aesthetic in Eden The only thing I didn’t like, if I’m being honest, is the timeshare pitch. They sort of code the language and call it a “membership” and are really pushy and assumptive the way they get you to agree to the whole thing. Beware.. a free breakfast or massage is really not worth hours out of your day, unless you really want to pay them in the tens of thousands of dollars to essentially have same vacation for the next ten years, don’t do it. And “no commitment” quickly changes to them interrogating you, fishing for information. They also make it sound like they’re almost entirely members only, but i asked around, and I could not find a single person that was a “member”. Not a single person. The vibe sort of changed after the timeshare experience, because you really get the sense that is what it’s all about. The concierge and all the different employees they pass you off to are all under pressure to get you to buy this timeshare it’s obvious.

I loved the staff. Very helpful and went out of their way to help. What I DID NOT like was them immediately trying to sell us a time share. We were not there 10 minutes. She went as far as asking me what i did for a living, which to me is none of her business. All we wanted to do was to check in and start having a good time. The entire time we were there on the third floor, it smelled like mold in the hallways. Our floor got extremely wet after using the hot tub so we only used it the one time. and we were there 5 days. However the front desk did send someone to mop and they told us not to turn up the air conditioning over 22 c. Which was really cold, I do want to be very clear how very helpful ALL the staff was and honestly the most pleasant and helpful than any where i have ever stayed.

It was our first time in Puerto Vallarta. The Resort is beautiful, the staff is very friendly and the place is very clean. The room was quite large and in excellent condition. We highly recommend the Almar!

Nice enough Hotel but definitely not what it used to be. Room had paint and spackle spots on the floor. Technically wery modern but all the furniture has chippod paint or other damages. Mirror was not cleaned completley and there where nail clippings in the bathroom. Also for being an LGBT hotelit has a weird policy that guests have to sign in and leave their ID at the desk so hookups can be very awkward. While checking in people where nice enough but they try to sell you some kind of timeshare or VIP experience before you can go to your room. Also the Glas on the Infinity pool has not been cleaned in a while so it looks very milky. Same goes for the Mantamaer beach club (i think they are connected somehow. Upkeep has been neglected and the colores are faded and generally in bad shape for 4 star “luxury”

Been staying here for years but might start looking elsewhere. Paid for an oven view but got a partial view. Hotels.com made it right. The hotel is starting to seem a bit worn. There were wood pieces holding up our nightstands, the lower lobby smelled really musty, elevator buttons were malfunctioning, there was a big dead bug on the ceiling in our shower the whole time, our room was right over the entry way and was super noisy (and we paid for a higher price room) and the prices have gone way up. Likely won’t stay again. As always it was a lot of fun and the crowd there is a blast.

What I liked about this place was the roof top restaurant for breakfast Oscar was amazing ! Also room service staff were super great ! Most of the front desk staff were super nice too! Supervisor wasn’t helpful!!! At all Security department were super awesome ! I didn’t like the fact that , I couldn’t check in early waited 30 mins , with the excuse that the room wasn’t ready! Cause it was being clean , finally walked in , into my room and my room was dirty , dusty , wasn’t swept nor mopped , and was full of dust ! I was appalled that I brought it to their attention and they didn’t make an effort to moved me to a different room, i went to the front desk next day cause the toilet was detached,, maintenance came in to fix it and next day in the morning, was still the same.

Almar gave us such an amazing first time impression of Puerto Vallarta for me and my two friends who got a room together. Stunning. It was what we expected overall, amazing and caring friendly staff as well as the aesthetic and cleanliness! The room is cleaned everyday spotless and sometimes twice a day! Amenities were great and view from our balcony overlooking the ocean was perfect and calming. Me and my friends wanted the LGBT experience and we got it! From the hall art to the over decor of the Resort, absolutely stunning. MANTAMAR - wow what a great pool experience everyday we could make it. But I gotta say the SKY BAR and the EDEN POOL (chefs kiss) , we had an absolute amazing time. The only one thing I gotta say was the drinks were not great and well overpriced tbh, other than the FOOD was incredible on the entire resort, absolutely delicious. I will definitely be returning! ☺️🏳️‍🌈🥵🌊🫶✨

Unfortunately, this is my second time at this property and I was not impressed. The wait staff were good but they overcharge as if they have to make a quota on drinks. I had to have my bill readjusted twice. The room was cleaned but floors were not cleaned properly by the housekeeping staff nor was the bed.

Stayed in the newest part of the mantamar tower. The room itself is very nice, however the design For adjacent neighbors is awful. We constantly could hear everything that was going on next to us … music , tv, conversations. The rooms are only divided by sliding wood doors. This allows for lots of sound to travel. Not good. We had to ask for music to be turned down several times. It made for a very unpleasant experience when we were in our room

The hotel did not have hot water during my entire 6 day stay. When I called the day prior to my visit, I was assured that they would have power and hot water. I had a read a review they had lost power and did not have power or not water due to the hurricane. Hotel never addressed it or offered anything for the inconvenience. When I brought it up with the front desk every day, I was told it should be back on that day, which never happened. Very disappointed with the communication during my visit and will never return. It was also very difficult to relax due to the high volume of workers there trying to sell me a time share, massages or drinks. It was beyond excessive.

What a treat! Our Romance Suite was huge, with a big hot tub. The view was spectacular! The staff was attentive and friendly. Was it expensive for the nicer Ocean View Rooms? Yes! But totally worth it. The rooms in the lower tower probably had to deal with noise from the beach club, but the upper tower was just right. We can’t wait to come back.

I booked a room with 2 queen beds but was given a room with one king sized bed but that was quickly resolved. The other issue was the air conditioning didn’t work well at night in addition I was in the Mantamar building in what seemed like the basement with a view of the construction site.

I cannot get wifi in my room and i have told them 5 times that i need to be relocated to the main building. No one will listen to me. I have to get online to work. My room is in another building and the connecting door to the room next door is basically non existent. I can hear every word the people in the room say. It’s really a bummer and a really bad experience. Stay away from room 214

Terrible hard push to sell Timeshare. Felt like a hostage situation , multiple calls. Ended up steering clear of the concierge and avoiding the welcome breakfast losing $40 because we didn’t show. Not too bothered about the $40 loss in place of avoided hearse sale tactics. Terrible to be bombarded and forced in to listening to timeshare pitch before even getting to our room or been given the keys . Only escorted to the room once we had listened to the initial Sales pitch. I do not recommend this hotel. Plenty of other spots in the area

Nice place staff is really nice as well. My AC broke so they had to move me to a different unit. The new units door lock stopped working so I had to wait for someone to try to fix it. Yes these things were very annoying, but the staff was nice in the process. They did compensate a little bit on my dining bill and was able to get an extra later check out. The Eden pool staff were really nice and made the visit more enjoyable.

This hotel is pretty awesome! It was our first trip to Mexico, so unsure what to expect. The resort fee was a surprise. NO NEED to book the "VIP" service for transport to and from the hotel - this is FAR overpriced, and it's literally the hotel booking you an UBER in a beaten down car (VIP??). Order your own UBER when you get there - it was easy! DO NOT STOP on your way out of the airport - you'll be caught into more sales pitches that seem authentic until you catch on! The beach club, pool and hotel restaurants were perfection. Staff were amazing, friendly, helpful and seemed authentic in wishing you a good time. House keeping was prompt and very good. We fell into the trap of the timeshare speech - BIG MISTAKE! Out of the whole experience, the guy trying to hard sell us a time share we didn't want really caused a damper on the beginning of the trip - he was kind as can be until we said no, then he got pretty nasty - really hurt the good feel of what all the other staff had created and caused some ill feelings towards the hotel. AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS, unless you want to purchase. The area is walkable to clubs and restaurants. Lots of shops. Be ready to be accosted on the beach by the sales peddlers selling bracelets etc - its relentless! Drinks were tasty and strong. Overall, we had a beautiful romantic trip, made some new friends, and created some lifetime memories! Would have been a 5 star rating if not for the nastiness of the timeshare sales guy!

The check-in and check-out process was too long, too much paper, and time consuming. This resort needs to automate everything: create an online check-in system with passport uploads, credit card pre-authorizations, and electronic signatures for all the paperwork; install electronic chips in the bracelets to open room doors and to be able to immediately pay for food/drink purchases via a mobile card device without having to wait ten minutes for a receipt to be printed at an adjacent location; and our expense charges should be available to be viewed in real time via a mobile app or on our hotel room TVs. Also, stop treating our 2am tricks like criminals. This is a gay hotel. Boys are going to bring back boys. Simplify the process.

It’s a bit overpriced for what it is in my opinion although I have stayed here twice. They nickle and dime you on the most random things. The pool and the Mantamar access make it ideal. The whole “I’m your concierge” thing at check-in is really just a time share attempt- that’s the biggest turn off. Don’t tell me you are a concierge, just tell me you are a time share salesperson. They almost force you to go through the speech unless you stand firm. There is no real concierge here.

Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. From the moment of our arrival until it came time to depart we were treated like family. Beautiful and clean rooms; exactly how it was pictured. Although, going to various floors can be tricky since we used multiple elevators, but after the first night we mastered it. Quick and easy access to their Top Sky Bar and Beach Club which both have incredible ocean views. Also, a quick Uber ride and you’ll be in Zona Romantica. Really enjoyed our stay. We’ll definitely be coming back!

We had a wonderful stay at The Almar, and the Mantamar Beach Club too! Staff was very friendly...they helped make our first trip to PV awesome. Taxis outside the main entrance helped to eliminate Uber waits, when we did need a ride, but we were right in the heart of Zona Romantica, and walked most places. I would definitely stay here again!

This is a 3-star hotel at a 5-star price. We booked it because it looked fantastic but in real life it’s just an average hotel. Pros - it’s right on the beach - if you don’t plan on leaving the hotel you’re good - the staff were all very nice - it was clean Cons - biggest in the price. Just way too expensive - second is the location. It doesn’t look like it on the map but this is a good solid walk to the main gay bars and restaurants. Basically every time we left the hotel we had to hoof it and in the heat you’re going to be drenched in sweat by the time you get to your destination action. So basically you’re gonna need a taxi. - if you plan on having any ‘fun’ in your room, this is a definite no. All guests must check in and you have to sign a waiver…for every guest. - the drinks were SO expensive. My partner sat by the pool on our first full day and he wasn’t chugging down a ton of drinks and when they brought the bill it was over $300. It was just him - so about $25 per drink. So if we were to come back to PV we would not stay here. There are better, less expensive options.

I had a wonderful solo stay! Ate breakfast everyday at Sky. The staff was excellent, food came beautifully crafted, was very tasty, and the was amazing. Pride in the preparation oozed from the plates. Every hotel staff member was gracious and truly seemed to care about my stay.

this hotel is well appointed and a great location. the beds were very comfortable and loved the Eden Pool hang. One the down side the food was not the greatest and had a bad experience with padding our tab with drinks and food we did not order in the Sky Bar.

Overall Almar is fine. However, I find it extremely overpriced for what you actually get. The location on the beach is nice, but it's far from the core of Zona Romantica. The food and drinks are very overpriced. $330 pesos for a margarita compared to $180 at most other restaurants and resorts. I stayed in the Eden (new) section of the resort, and there was construction on my floor every day. This construction was supposed to be finished a while ago. When I checked in at 3pm my room was not ready yet, and I had to wait 1 hour by the pool before I could go to my room. I also found the front desk staff kind of rude and dismissive. The nicest staff I cam across were the cleaning staff. I will not be visiting Almar again in the future.

This was the second time we stayed at this property. We enjoyed it and had positive experience. minor issues is price of drinks at pool and beach and service was sometimes slow on the beach. We received massages from the hotel and they were GREAT!. Only issue that I don't think you can control is the beach merchandise sales.

I gave the property a "good" rating though a few things could have made it excellent. Pluses include the Eden pool, walkability to restaurants/bars, the gym, the size of our room, the amenities in our room, balcony, friendliness of staff, availability of room cleaning. The one thing that bothered me the most was there was construction above and below our room on certain days and I was not aware prior to my stay that we would experience the noise and the debris that fell onto our balcony. I would not recommend eating dinner at the "Top" restaurant. The price of food and drinks is high compared to much higher quality restaurants a short walk away. The food was mediocre. The spa services are great but the price is high even by American standards. I had an amazing massage but it seems not many people do. There are a lot of great spas in town that offer lower prices for similar quality. This was my second stay at Almar and I would go back for another in the future.

Location, pool, and beach access via the Mantamar club are phenomenal. Food is ok, would say go into town to one of the many great restaurants instead but convenient if you want to stay on resort. Spa treatments were ok, but again, cheaper better options in town but convenient on resort. There is not really a resort bar to hang out at, they seat you at a table at the top sky bar which is a little odd to me but maybe you like that sort of thing. The staff there felt a little bit rude to me as a solo traveler who doesn’t drink alcohol but maybe were just joking and I didn’t get it :) I didn’t have any issues with timeshare presentations or check in/out problems, shady staff, AC, or any of the other issues in some of the reviews I have read. Room was very nice/clean/updated and the typical nice hotel chilly air conditioning. I’m not a big partier any more and the vibe here is definitely gay party/boozin’ so probably wouldn’t stay again, but the resort was beautiful and they do a wonderful job. Solid 4/5

If you want to take a nap or sleep on the earlier side don’t stay here. Music is thumping till midnight. Pool side dining was good but food at the top was not. Staff very friendly and pretty resort.

Unfortunately, this is my second time at this property and I was not impressed. The wait staff were good but they overcharge as if they have to make a quota on drinks. I had to have my bill readjusted twice. The room was cleaned but floors were not cleaned properly by the housekeeping staff nor was the bed.
