Do not come here during a game weekend and expect to check in on time. The hotels.com app said 3pm check in. The hotel told me 4 . We got checked in at 6. The excuse was it’s game day. The pool was green.

We were disappointed to arrive after 3p on the day of our reservation to find that our room wasn't ready yet. And because the LSU football team was staying in that hotel and they blocked off the entire second floor, we weren't able to access the gym at the hotel. The pool was also under renovation, so was also unavailable to us. These are things that would be nice to know at the time of booking, when possible. We also waited almost 30 minutes on Saturday morning to get some coffee in the lobby. I know the hotel was busy this past weekend, but that all felt like things the hotel could have anticipated and been better prepared for. Since this hotel has the reputation of being one of the largest hotels in Baton Rouge, I would expect a higher level of staffing and preparation. Now I'm more inclined to take my chances with smaller downtown hotels, since they may offer an equal or better service experience for the same price.

We enjoyed the complimentary shuttle service to nearby Perkins Rowe. Quincy, our driver, was very friendly and courteous. There's also plenty of convenient free hotel parking.

Room was outdated and gross. Shower was locker room filthy and stained. Check out on night 1 of a 2 night stay and they want to fight Hotels.com on issuing a refund. Make sure you are booking the right one and not by the janky Mall of Louisiana!

The property was in a great location and easy access to the highway. Also plenty of parking. The room and the bed was comfortable but my bedsheets had makeup stains on them and the desk didn't appear to have been whipped down.

All in all the stay was good. The front desk to the onsite restaurant was awesome. I only have one complaint and that is about the cleanliness of the room. There was hair in the shower and on the floors throughout the room. The room could use some deeper cleaning but other than that the site was beautiful!

The room was adequate in size. Most everything was clean but grout around the shower. The showerhead had poor water pressure. The bed was comfortable. I enjoyed the down pillows but my husband did not (we have different preferences). The elevators were fast. There is a huge plant blocking half the space to get to the elevators especially when others are congregating there while chatting. I saw many people move the plants leaves out of the way to avoid getting hit in the face. The staff were friendly. It would be a huge perk if you didn’t charge for internet. Even while being a bonvoy member, my room wanted to prompt me to pay and I feel we are paying more than enough in room charges to cover Internet usage.

Great location, check in and check out were easy, liked that the check out time is still 12p, and housekeeping service every day Disliked shabby condition of furniture, TV remote wasn't working properly, stains on chair, not enough and no towel rack for hand towels, shower head water weak, hand-held shower needed, didn't feel the water came out strong enough

Very clean and upscale vibe. Room was very nice. Only complaint would be the pillows aren't very comfortable and relatively flat. Would def stay again but would bring our own pillows. Otherwise, great location. Close to shopping and dining. Does not offer free Wi-Fi, but Wi-Fi is available for a fee. We didn't spend much time in the room though, so wasn't an issue for us. Would definitely stay here again

Arrived at 330 for 3pm check it. Waited til 5 pm but in room at very end of hallway. There is 1 elevator a 1 end of building. I was traveling with 79 year old mother an requested handicap accessible. This was far from handicap accessible. Told the hotel staff she was pleasant an was trying her gardest to accommodate. The back up of ppl trying to check in eaiting for rooms to become available was crazy. Why have a 3 pm check in when you can't get near a room until 5pm. We had not eaten yet because we planned on checking in gettung cleaned up an goi g to nice dinner. They let us stay in far room until they found us another closer to elevator. When finally checked into right room an settled in, it was after 6 an we were exhausted an just grabbed waffle house an sleep as my mom is 79 waiting 3 hours to check into a hotel was ridiculousness. After first day rest of stay was nice m. Again hotels.com should tell you the hotel will be putting 100$ on card when you book for incidentals.

Initially my room was occupied when I opened the door. The room was double booked. This could have been a fatal situation. There’s absolutely no reason this should ever happen. Training definitely needs improvement

My husband & I went for a long weekend for our 33 wedding anniversary. Our reservation was for a King room. When we got to our room it was a Queen, handicap room. Handicap shower & no tub. I talked to the front desk who talked to the manager and said there was nothing they could do that night but check first thing in the morning. When I called down the next morning the manager was absolutely rude and said my reservation was not for a King room and there was nothing she could do. I called Expedia and they verified my reservation was for a King. Two expedia representatives called the hotel and talked to the manager and said “That Manager is Rude and that is absolutely unacceptable”! Expedia found us another hotel and took care of the cost of our stay at the other hotel! This is why I always book with Expedia!! Although Renaissance Hotel was horrible, Expedia turned a bad situation into a Great Weekend!

The check in process was pathetic. I had reserved 3 rooms under 2 reservations and the clerk argued that I only had 2 rooms. I had to go on-line, from my phone to show her the reservation. Only then did she do a deep search to find the other room. As a result our room registrations were all wrong on none of us were in the room with the correct name. This is totally unacceptable.

We reserved a room to attend the LSU/Florida game. Check in according to my booking was 3pm. When we arrived, we were informed check in was moved back to 4pm. After waiting over an hour an a half, we attempted to check in prior to the game, at 4:30pm. However, our room still was not ready, my wife and I were forced to change in our vehicle and public bathrooms, in order to attend the game. We were not able to check into our room until 11:30pm, with zero effort on the part of hotel staff to accommodate us in any way. The service was terrible, all staff was too busy attending to the LSU team, who stayed at the hotel the night before. If you were a fan attending the game, too bad, you were completely ignored until the team left at approximately 4pm. Even after their departure, the hotel staff was less than interested in helping anyone. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a hotel, felt as if we were second class citizens, the hotel staff made us feel like a burden and again, made no effort to accommodate anyone not associated with the LSU Football Team. If you want to be treated like second rate citizens, this is your place. It was truly disgusting to see so many LSU and Florida fans simply trying to gain access to their rooms yet being completely ignored by hotel staff. Additionally, the hotel gouged the prices to a staggering $800+ for a single room, then denied access, hours after posted check in time, to accommodate the football team. Customers were ignored.

The stay was great. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and check in was less than 5 mins. The Suite was gorgeous and clean. The restaurant/bar was great and breakfast the next day was delicious, ordered an omelette from the omelette station! Checkout was about 10 seconds because I requested a print out of my receipt. Everything was great. Also a great location, Mall & several restaurants less than 5 mins. if you want to do some shopping or eating off site

We were delayed by weather and other events arriving at about 2 AM. The desk attendant asked for our name then went away for about 10 minutes. Came back to say they had overbooked and there was no room for us. Sent us to the downtown Marriott “free”. We loaded up the car and arrived there 10 min later. We were charged $40 to park in an outdoor parking lot with 100 yard walk. The complimentary room was a nice measure but I would have rather had the room I booked with other family members and not had to pack up for another hotel. The parking fee for this particular location was ridiculous especially given our inconvenience. I have valeted at resorts for less.

This hotel is off the highway, which made it much quieter than most. Check-in was seamless. Room was clean and comfortable. The on-site restaurant was very convenient. Would definitely stay again when passing through Baton Rouge.

Great location and convenient for move in weekend at LSU. They were so helpful and I was able to ship directly the the hotel for dorm items and there were many shopping areas around the hotel as well. Great restaurant/bar in the hotel

I feel this hotel is one of the best in Baton Rouge. The area was fairly quiet, felt safe, and in a good location close to shopping and dining options. The King standard room was very spacious and comfortable. There are hotels closer to the LSU campus, but staying at The Renaissance Marriott was worth an extra 7-10 minutes in the car.

Absolutely terrible management in the restaurant. No effort, no leadership by example, slow everything. No excuse for a “manager” to just stand near the bar shooting the breeze with the staff while drinks can be run, tables busses, guests acknowledged, food run, etc. Quite literally, she did nothing for the entirety of our experience. And it’s not ok for a beer to take 15 minutes in that small of a place when not busy. She didn’t care a lick about working, and that trickles down to the team. Nice hotel, great front desk, comfortable and clean room. Will stay again, just not going near that brutal excuse for a bar/restaurant.
