Stairs were unexpected. We arrived late and were given a room on the top floor. As older people, we had to go up 3 flights of stairs with suitcases. Then every day up and down the stairs was difficult. The room was comfortable, the beds were jammed in and not much space to move around the room — not really a 4-star.

Great location & good breakfast at wonderful restaurant! Quebecoi atmosphere is so relaxing! Be aware no elevator so could be an issue for some unless you request first floor!👍🌞

This hotel has a great location, right in Old Quebec. You can walk anywhere in Old Quebec. The hitel itself is older with no elevator, so if unable to do stairs, this is not the hotel for you. The picture of our room did not reflect our space, as it was mich smaller in person.

For the price it was exactly what we had imagined. It is conveniently located; which is crucial when visiting Quebec City and underground parking for $20 per day was a 10 min walk away.

Like many properties in the Old City, parking does not come included -- and that's fine; you just have to know that going in. Apart from that, the location is fantastic with tons of sights, restaurants, and shopping steps away. Very walkable. Great Wi-Fi, too. I enjoyed my stay!

Close to most of the historical attractions and restaurants, all in walking distance. Room is very tiny, but if you only need a place to stay for the nights, thats good enough. There's no elevator and there are three floors. You need to carry your luggage upstairs. Checkin time is limited. Dont come before 2pm. It starts at 4 per email i received. I checked in at 4 :30. During my two nights stay, the second day, I saw a lady around 2 pm at the reception, but i am not sure if it is always a person at 2 pm. It is a good place to stay if you dont have too many demands. I parked at 7 Rue Pierre-Olivier-Chauveau for $20 per day. It is 24 hours parking. About 7 mins walk from the hotel. When you go in, insert your credit card and insert the same card before you leave and confirm the payment and you will get a receipt. It is clean and spacious. I am satisfied with this hotel.

Hotel was in a great location to walk around old Town. Beware there are No elevators, you have to carry your luggage up spiral stairs. The room could have been cleaned better, bathroom toilet had a black ring in it, cabinet was dirty inside, floor was dirty. There is No service if you need anything, there’s a sign posted at the front desk about it. Staff is gone at night. It’s an old and scary Hotel, is it haunted?? Go in with an opened mind. But would not recommend, . Too much money for what your getting, and we stay in descent hotels , this was closest we could find for under $300 a night with a good location

Unit three was just horrible. The floors were all coming loose. the flooring was all peeling The bed was horrible just like it was ready to fall apart the shower was never clean. There was black mould everywhere in it. The entry door wasn’t shutting properly. When you open it, wake everybody up,And emergency door would hardly open right

The hotel is in a great location in old town and very easily walkable. Our room was clean and although staff do not clean rooms daily, we easily exchanged towels at the front desk. Most of the staff were friendly, but we did experience some who were not all that helpful. Our only warning to other travelers would be that there is no elevator and the stairs are narrow and steep. It is a real challenge if you have heavy luggage and/or mobility issues.

Nice room. 1 member of staff on reception and nobody available to help carry cases too the 3rd floor. Photo of the exterior of the hotel is totally misleading. The outer door of the hotel was just a frame as the glass was missing and looked like it had been for some time. Room was cleaned but stair carpets hadn't been vacuum for a long time.

Don't be fooled. Don't stay at this hotel. Save your money. The photos provided here do not accurately depict what they really look like. The place is a complete mess. Our room (1st floor near the front desk) was in a severely unhygienic state, particularly the bathroom, which had black mold and was so unsanitary that it made it impossible for us to remain in the hotel. In addition to the overall lack of cleanliness, the towels provided were unacceptable, they were dirty or with holes in it! Due to the urgent need to find alternative accommodation, we were forced to book a last-minute room in a different hotel at a significantly higher cost. Now, neither Expedia nor the hotel wants to issue a refund even though we couldn't use the room.

Good location but room is outdated. The shower curtain needs to be replaced as it has a moldy smell. Sink faucet is loose and the bed is too soft. There’s no house keeping. We stayed for 3 days and the trash was piling up.

There was no one at the hotel in the morning so we needed to search for a place to store our luggage until we could check in. Our Room (No. 6) on the 3rd floor was very warm and the AC unit did NOT work, which we immediately reported. It was never repaired so we needed to sleep with the window access to the fire escape fully opened.

Close to everything in old Quebec. Restaurant for breakfast right next door. No elevator but we knew that in advance. Unfortunately the air conditioning in our room was not working and it was very hot and humid, and the tv didn’t work. After one night we were relocated to Hotel Louisbourg, their sister hotel just a couple of doors down as the Maison General did not have any other rooms. So glad our a/c wasn't working at General! Our new room was much nicer although more stairs than the other. Great a/c, beds, and washroom. Looked out over Rue Saint Louis. We would recommend Hotel Louisbourgh over Hotel Maison Du General. Thanks to Edwich, at the General, for trying to fix our air and tv.

Fantastic location in old town. Quaint room, but room had 2 beds which essentially filled the room. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom sink didn’t drain- we told the front desk and they said they’d have someone look at it, but never fixed. Parking was challenging

Les 3 étoiles sont seulement pour l'emplacement de l'hôtel qui est à distance de marche de tous les attraits du coin. Sinon, la qualité de l'hôtel laisse à désirer ouff.. Les murs semblent en carton côté insonorisation. Nous avions la chambre collée sur la porte d'entrée de l'immeuble, horrible!!!! Le froid rentrait sous la porte, j'ai dû mettre des serviettes pour bloquer l'air. Extrêmement bruyant avec le va-et-vient de l'entrée. Le lit de très mauvaise qualité et craque sans cesse. Beaucoup de poussière sur le plancher, la balayeuse semble ne pas avoir été faite depuis des mois. Bref, à éviter si vous voulez ne serait-ce qu'un peu de qualité.

Great option due to street location it's near everything, especially chateau frontenac. This place just needs to care a little bit more and they could be golden. The location has a faded sign that could be updated and not cause confusion when locating. Check In was confusing when front desk was empty for 10 minutes and then employee arrived. Our room was the classic room and it was on the first floor, I thought noise would be bad due to proximity to front door and desk but it was minimal. The room was cozy, cleanliness missed some details and that explains this place, they miss details. Check out was bizarre, no one was there so we just left our keys at the front desk. The vouchers for the breakfast next door was excellent and enjoyable with good options and portions. Have not seen good reviews with economy room so would suggest classic room and up. Also there is no elevators only stairs up so be aware of that. We would stay here again and would just hope they care more about details and the stay would be perfect 5 stars.

The email confirmation received from Expedia indicated: Check-in for this property is based at a different location, 3, Sainte-Ursule St. (located next door). we walked to the address identified, which there was no # 3 on that street only to then try to just go to the hotel where there was someone at the desk. the address provided was NO WHERE close to being next door, and we wasted about an hour trying to locate the check in location.

The worst thing was the original pre check in email from Travelocity we received told us to check in next door with the given address of 3 Sainte-Ursule St. When my wife inquired next door they had no clue what she was talking about. So we went to the address given by Travelocity, As it turns out this address is not next door but about a quarter mile from the property down a huge hill and then there is no 3 Sainte-Ursule St. when you get to where it should be. A huge waste of time carrying all our luggage! Only to find out the check-in desk is located inside the hotel. Unfortunately, the staff often posted a sign saying back in 10 minutes which must mean 1 hour in French. After we finally figured out the check in debacle all went well.

So we went to the address given by Travelocity, As it turns out this address is not next door but about a quarter mile from the property down a huge hill and then there is no 3 Sainte-Ursule St. when you get to where it should be. A huge waste of time carrying all our luggage! Only to find out the check-in desk is located inside the hotel. Unfortunately, the staff often posted a sign saying back in 10 minutes which must mean 1 hour in French. After we finally figured out the check in debacle all went well.

Très déçu du service et de l interaction avec le personnel. Personnes sur place , note indiquant un retour en 10 minutes est totalement faux! Le numéro de telephone pour les urgence vous retourne au comptoir de service qui est abandonné. I thought the staff lacked service. We were not told the was no service to clean or replenish. We had to bring dirty towels down to the desk to get new ones. Which was fine when there was someone at the desk

While clean in the room, we were over all disappointed. Steep stairs, no elevator. We were on the 3rd floor. We only took our essentials to the room for our overnight stay. We went to a lovely breakfast with the voucher included (great food and service). Upon returning at 8:40 a.m. there was no one to open up the storage room where our luggage was. Several couples stood there in the same predicament. We had a plane to catch and our UBER driver was already waiting! When we stored the luggage we were not informed that there’d be nobody at the desk. The desk sign gives a number to call in emergencies and guess where it rings! At the desk with no attendant! We can not recommend this hotel.

Maison Du General has a great location; walking distance to all the popular tourist spots like Frontenac Hotel, Governor's Promenade, Place de Royal, Parliament Building, and Petit Champlain. My family and I enjoyed the free good breakfast as well.

Great option due to street location it's near everything, especially chateau frontenac. This place just needs to care a little bit more and they could be golden. The location has a faded sign that could be updated and not cause confusion when locating. Check In was confusing when front desk was empty for 10 minutes and then employee arrived. Our room was the classic room and it was on the first floor, I thought noise would be bad due to proximity to front door and desk but it was minimal. The room was cozy, cleanliness missed some details and that explains this place, they miss details. Check out was bizarre, no one was there so we just left our keys at the front desk. The vouchers for the breakfast next door was excellent and enjoyable with good options and portions. Have not seen good reviews with economy room so would suggest classic room and up. Also there is no elevators only stairs up so be aware of that. We would stay here again and would just hope they care more about details and the stay would be perfect 5 stars.

La chambre était bien, la situation géographique dans le vieux Québec est bien, tout proche du Chateau Frontenac. La réception est aléatoire, hormis une personne qui essayé de nous aider, les autres n'ont rien fait. La TV n'a jamais fonctionné, la neige n'a pas été enlevée devant la porte. Pour ouvrir la porte extérieure nous avions eu une clé qui fonctionnait très mal, alors qu'il avait un code qu’on ne nous a pas donné à l'arrivé. Mais le pire c'est les petits déjeuners que nous avions réservés, ils étaient servi dans un restaurant à côté, et c'était très bon, mais nous en avions 5, et le restaurant a été fermé 3 jours, donc pas de petits déjeuners. l'accueil est difficile à contacter, j'ai réussi au bout de 4 jours à avoir quelqu'un, qui a effectué un remboursement que je n'ai pas encore reçu.

The location was great. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The shower (while small) had good pressure and temperature. Shampoo and soap provided. Windows and fresh air were great on the top floor facing the street. Clean. But basic. Access to service hours was difficult. The TV did not work. The fridge has not been cleaned. Unfortunately the free breakfast provided at restaurant next door was not good. One person working the entire floor and one cook. Took well over 1.5 hours to get food. The server was doing his best but overwhelmed. Otherwise a nice visit.

Very old house with a lot but a lot of stairs!! The ac is quite loud and directly on you when you sleep. You can hear everything around you: everything from above, side and under! But for a cheap stay this is your go. Bring your pillows, neck masssge will be needed after your stay otherwise.

Everything in the room was compact, except the queen bed. Perfect location, close to everything. Bathroom sink is in front of toilet. You can sit and brush teeth at the same time. I’ve never seen toilet paper that thin in my life. I’d fold it four times and realized I should have folded it 16 times before attempting to wipe. One tiny bar of soap and a tiny shampoo bottle were supplied. No bathtub, only shower. Bed was comfortable but I had to do the crab walk to get out. Only about 12” from bed to wall. Breakfast was a few doors down at a restaurant. They gave about 6 free options with coupon. Breakfast was from 8-11am. They weren’t quick, so don’t expect to quickly eat and run. You won’t be out before 9am.

The room was too small for two people. There was only one roll of toilet paper, and it was already half used. No extra toilet paper was provided in the bathroom. The quilt was dirty in one of its edges. Housekeeping was disappointing. No one came to clean the room for two days, and we had to request it ourselves. The reception staff were decent but not proactive. The breakfast was okay. The best thing about this hotel is its location. It’s in downtown, within walking distance of most major attractions. If you prefer not to walk, an Uber ride to most attractions takes only about 7–10 minutes.
