The hotel was very close to all the places we wanted to go to. We went for a concert at Madison Square Gardens and it was a 5 minute walk. Very central. Down side was the breakfast. It was very good but not much selection. Beers on draught at the bar, none were working. Overall, staff friendly and room was cleaned daily. Massive beds with thick pillows too

I loved that there was a parking garage right across the street. There is a cute little bar when you walk in and snacks availble for purchasing.

Ok stay, but did not live up to the reviews or hotel online description. Pros: Excellent shower pressure. Comfortable bed and pillows. Hot options for breakfast were decent. Very easy walk to the train station and subway. Easy walk to Javits. No wait for elevators. This was awesome Compared to near by competitors. Cons: the website states the rooms are some of the largest in Manhattan. BS! I have stayed all over manhattan and the room was microscopic. With the exception of the New Yorker, it was the smallest room I have ever stayed in, in midtown. Bed sheets had several holes in them. And were stained. Lack of security: Anyone could use the elevators to get on your floor. The luggage hold was not secure. Anyone could go in and out of the stored luggage room. As a solo female travel, I was very disappointed. Noise. Rooms are not sound resistant. Someone on the floor was playing video games until 4am. You could hear it all night. If anyone near my room was talking, you could hear it. If people were talking in the hallway it was very loud. Lastly, I requested a room with grab bars in the bathroom. This room did not have adequate bars. And was not ADA compliant. Overall my experience was underwhelming. Despite the proximity to javits and the train station (which was amazing), I would not recommend this hotel for solo travelers or people who require a grab bars or space. I would call ahead to make sure you are getting the room you requested.

The location was great. About 8 short blocks down to Broadway, easily walkable. A block from MSG and Penn Station. 2 longer blocks to Herald Square and the fabric district. Easy access to subway. Good food options in the area. The room was a bit beat up. The door handle to the bathroom was broken, the bookshelf had parts broken off. The floor wasn’t very clean. Our washcloths were never replaced in the bathroom. The room was billed on Hotels.com as two queens, but it was 2 doubles. NyPD has a station next door. That was a little noisy. There is scaffolding all over the front of the building right now. We had someone outside our window early one morning. Service was non existent. There was someone at the front desk some of the time. There was a wierd communal luggage room that was a nightmare. No tickets, just leave your stuff and hope it's there when you get back. . Use at your own risk. We probably won't stay here again. There are two Marriott properties nearby that are cleaner. This hotel wasn't terrible for a last minute booking, but the price is similar to others in the area and like i said, the Marriott properties are cleaner.

Property advertises free airport shuttle, this is not true and they have no care to explain. Front desk hung up on me when I questioned it. The outside dining does not exist anymore so the only dining you’re getting is bar food. DO NOT GET BREAKFAST it was disgusting!! Make sure to ask for a room not near a maintenance or cleaning facility because they do not care who is sleeping or what time it is. Site says they have travel guides not true, thank god I planned ahead and asked questioned before arriving. Tub was clogged so bring swimming trunks 😂. I WILL NOT BE BOOKING AGAIN. On top of all this front desk was a hot mess minus 1 woman dark hair believe to be Hispanic, she was amazing, however only got to speak to her once

The property itself is nice. The only downside was the Experia had had photos of a terrace which is not accessible to guests. However, the staff is exceptional. I would like to recognize John at the front desk and especially Mina in housekeeping who did all they could to help me recover an item I had left behind. You're in good hands with them.

The front desk from the morning staff was good however the staff over looking the food took a long time to get the food prepared. It was supposed to start at 7:00am and all of the food was not out, very disappointing. Pancakes were nasty and undercooked. Location of this hotel is great!

The parking lot is just across the street for about $60 a day but no in and out The towels were very thin and old Ice machine only in lobby But it is right in the middle between Times Square and Madison Square Garden If you stay here don’t bring a car Subway is very close and efficient

This is a decent budget hotel but we paid a fortune for our room ($370 all-in). The room was clean and ok sized, decent shower. The biggest two knocks were the A/C was directly across from your head and had a baffle that made it blow right across your face. The other was luggage storage when you arrive & depart… it’s unprotected “self storage”! You roll your bags into an easily accessible room in the lobby and simply leave it there, literally hoping no one takes it. No bellman, no security, just fingers-crossed. I have never seen this before, other than maybe a hostel!

Clean rooms, parking across the street for $55 day. so close MSG. The only thing I didn't like was I could not get ahold of anyone on the phone when called the day before. 2 different times holding over 30 minutes and gave up.

The location was amazing. You are near Penn Station so it is easy to get to the airport also you have the metro station nearby. Within walking distance from the empire state building. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. They clean the hotel room daily and you get fresh towels etc. however, the bathroom is a little old so the shower wasn't the best experience. The showerhead was broken, lots of hair in the drain...

One of the dirtiest hotels i stayed at. The room keurig spewed out dirty water, showing it was cleaned for a while. (didn’t drink it, but needed hot water for something). Mattress cover was practically yellow. Shower felt grimy, and other smaller things that is not becoming of a “4 star” hotel

Overall the hotel was average, bedding wasn’t all to clean, some stain was noticeable. The bunk bed wasn’t as sturdy as we would hope it to be. The pull out couch also had noticeable stain as well. The staff was nice and helpful, location was under construction, did not look as nice as the site portrayed.

This was a horrible stay! It started at check in. They asked for my id and the credit card which is standard but they made a copy. I asked why and said it was hotel policy but I didn’t let them keep that copy. That’s crazy! The room while big was not in great shape. The bathroom was the worst. Dirty, lights didn’t work and the switch was broken. We left the lights on bc we couldn’t turn it off until it just stopped working. The shower rod and bars were horribly rusted! The drain stopped working so we were messing with it only to discover a ton of hair in the drain which was so disgusting! The lamp in the room flickered and the coffee machine was filled with rust and a horrible stench. To get ice you have to go to the lobby and find the gym to get it which would be ok but there is no way to know that until you find someone that is “working the front desk”. No directions in the stairwell to get out, we got out on the wrong floor and instead of helping us the people in the office just sat there with the door open and ignored us. So weird! The first day it was like only 1 elevator was working but by the 2nd night there were more working. The cleaning staff was very unfriendly in the halls. On the final night the tv stopped working. The water pressure pretty much cut down to 1/3 of what it was the nights before too. Finally it’s time to check out and they have a storage room for you to put your bags at your own risk or take them to another site and pay. That’s ridiculous too!

Overall, the property is quite good and has everything needed for a pleasant stay. However, we noticed that the floor was dirty and some of the towels had hair on them, which affected our first impression a bit. With better cleaning, the experience would be much more enjoyable.

Room was not clean, hair balls from previous guest found on my bathroom floor, bed linens did smell clean. Only tea was provided in our room, you have to purchase coffee downstairs-the price of coffee changed by the day, and you have to pay additionally for a refill. I feel like we were catfished with the pictures and what our room really looked like.

Great location, just a few minutes walk from the ACE lines. There was scaffolding outside the building, but no construction noise could be heard inside. Room service operated daily, and the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Only a ten minute walk to Times Square. we loved our stay!

This hotel was a very short walk from 8th Ave/Time Square/Madison Square Garden/Penn Station and more. Our standard room (with 2 queen beds) was small but it was still comfortable enough for 4 guests because of the large armoire provided for storage. Larger family rooms are also available on the property. Housekeeping came through on a daily basis to provide fresh towels and all of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The wifi connection was inconsistent for us, but it was not a significant problem. We did not eat at the hotel during our stay, but it was nice that there was that option. We would stay here again.

First, the negatives: Unfortunately the pull-out couch was extremely, extremely uncomfortable (I didn’t expect much, but even compared to others we have had to use, it was bad). The room wasn’t ready at check-in time (we had to wait a little over 30 minutes), and there was one dirty-looking towel hanging in the bathroom when we arrived. Now for the positives: it was an affordable place for a family of five, the room was clean aside from that one towel, the regular beds were comfortable, the staff were pleasant, the AC worked well (it was a little loud but that was fine since it blocked out any noise from the building or outside), and it’s very close to Penn Station, which was great since we took the train in. There’s a restaurant on site which we only visited for breakfast one morning. It was not quite worth the $20 a person, but a good option if you don’t feel like going out one day. All in all, we had a very nice stay and I would definitely recommend this hotel. Just don’t count on anyone sleeping in their pull-out sofa!

Checking in was quick and easy, all the front desk employees we spoke to were helpful and friendly. We stayed in one of the family suites with our group (4 adults, 4 kids aged 7-14) and they loved it. There is a sliding door that separates the two beds from the couch bed and bunk beds for privacy if needed and there are two bathrooms, which was amazing for so many young girls in our party needing to get ready every day. The hotel is located near a NYPD precinct, so we felt very safe, and yet it was convenient to walk to the Empire State Building and Times Square. We will be back.

As a family of five we needed something comfortable and accessible. The room was clean and comfortable. Despite being grateful for the air conditioning unit, the noise generated by it was overwhelming. The lack of an extractor fan in the bathroom meant it was very hot and especially if all five room occupants used the bathroom one after the other. The room was advertised as a Samsung experience but only one of the televisions actually turned on. We reported this to reception on our second morning, but nothing changed. Overall, the hotel was accessible, clean and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. (Thank goodness for earplugs!)

Beware if you get a room with an adjourning door, they are NOT soundproof at all. We were on a quiet side of the building from the honking of the horns, but then had a group of ladies - what sounded like a dozen of them, that talked and laughed right by the door.

The room and bathroom were updated and very clean. The bed was comfortable. Appreciated the pretzels, bottled water and spare tooth brush. The only negative was that the walls were very thin and we could clearly hear what people in the neighboring room were saying.

If you like to keep your room cold it wont happen here. The ac would not go lower than 75°. We put ours at 72° but not go below 75°.

The Tryp is in a great location. 3 minute walk to Madison Square Garden or Penn Station. Great food in the area. I was disappointed by the very poor check-in experience. Only 1 team member at the desk. And he was on the phone for a solid 20 minutes ignoring the people waiting in line. We could hear every word, it was not hotel business. In fairness the other staff we met over the next few days were very attentive and friendly. We had a room problem; the a/c did not work. It just recirculated the air without chilling it. The room was never under 76f. Sometimes as high as 78. Too warm. The front lobby sent someone to fix it twice. Neither fix worked. Loved the location, but the a/c issue is a deal-breaker, we won’t return.

This is a mixed bag review. Thank you for trying. However. . . I Arrived at the property at 8:00 pm only to be told that my room was not available due to some water leakage but that I was booked at hotel 2 blocks down. Mind you, I was told this after my ID and credit card was run through the system. I reluctantly went to the other hotel with the person at the desk to what was a lower category hotel. The alternate hotel was $100 cheaper than the one I booked by Wyndam still charged me the full price. Alternate hotel elevator wasn't working - carry your bags up 5 floors. No communication during the day on this matter - this is the kind of thing that could have been dealt with early in the day. While I appreciate the alternate booking, this was the most unprofessional way to deal with a hotel matter in the 31 years I have been traveling. Front desk did their best, this is a management issue. If you can't honor the room then book your guest at something better, not something worse. Picture is of the alternate hotel bathroom.

Upon entering our room the temperature was 80 degrees. Some came and fixed the air but once we came back after being out the AC was off again. We then asked someone to come fix it but were told there was an issue and we should talk to the front desk. We were then met with some of the worst customer service including saying there was no way to contact a manager, told that we were lying about what the engineering team told us, and told that their AC only works if it’s above 70 degrees outside and there was nothing they would do. We shared that someone in our party had a medical condition and that we couldn’t sleep in an 80 degree room but they refused to do anything.

I've stayed at Tryp before and had a good stay so decided to try it again with my family. I booked two rooms and requested adjoining, but did not get adjoining. Not a huge deal, but would have been convenient. The air conditioner in both of our rooms "needed to be reset", but no one came to do so. My husband is handy and got it going for a bit, but it conked out again. The rooms were nearly 80 degrees, which is way too hot for a menopausal woman with hot flashes! Also, there was no hot water by 8:30am in the morning.

Staff was great with helping accommodate my reservations. Biggest thanks to Crystal for helping with a last minute reservation. The property is right in the mix of everything. Walking distance from Madison Square garden and Time Square. Tons a food and shopping options close by as well. Great experience.

I didn’t like the staff member that helped me. He kept saying to me “oh it’s not ready come back” A manager had to come and find me a room. He could use some customer service training. I paid for two queen beds and a queen pull out couch. I got a twin roll bed. I could have went somewhere else if that’s the case.

Hotel is just a short walk from Moynihan train staion and Madison Square Garden. It was very convenient for a concert at the Garden. I like this hotel because check-in is at 3pm rather than traditional 4pm like other hotels in the area. Room was clean and had everything we needed.. including a mini fridge. I noticed a large self-service luggage drop off room available, near the check-in desk, however I didnt need to use it. Ice machine is in the gym-lobby only, FYI. Great stay and will return for future Garden events.

Tryp is very convenient to the train station and Herald Square. Subway was right near it as well. Anything you need was very walkable. Hotel rooms are nice size and very clean.

Great location, just a few minutes walk from the ACE lines. There was scaffolding outside the building, but no construction noise could be heard inside. Room service operated daily, and the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Only a ten minute walk to Times Square. we loved our stay!

Went down to see a Mets game, hotel near the train station, subway and our restaurant. Loved the interior design of the lobby, nice bar w great cocktails. Staf very courteous, helpful and friendly. Would stay again!

The hotel was very close to all the places we wanted to go to. We went for a concert at Madison Square Gardens and it was a 5 minute walk. Very central. Down side was the breakfast. It was very good but not much selection. Beers on draught at the bar, none were working. Overall, staff friendly and room was cleaned daily. Massive beds with thick pillows too

Coffee crummy and $5.00. Breakfast buffet only had 4 offerings and was $20.00. Housekeeping staff great. No bottled water in room, $3.75 from machine in lobby. Soft drinks $4.00.

Very central hotel. Accessible to public transportation. Nice, clean, and organized rooms. The housekeeping staff on our 9th floor were incredibly helpful. She was the star of our stay. The food at the hotel's restaurant and bar was very good, and room service was convenient. The lowlight of our stay was the bar service, where they advertised draft beer for happy hour, and when you sat down and asked for it, they told you they didn't have it. It was like a hook to draw you in. A woman at the front desk also provided poor service to my father, who doesn't speak English. She simply told him, "I don't speak Spanish," and did nothing to find an employee who could translate for him or use all the technology that we have on our smartphones.

The front desk from the morning staff was good however the staff over looking the food took a long time to get the food prepared. It was supposed to start at 7:00am and all of the food was not out, very disappointing. Pancakes were nasty and undercooked. Location of this hotel is great!

Great spot for the price. Clean rooms. Good space. Easy to access and close to subways. The water pressure in our shower was not good at all. And the coffee options on site weren’t great. Other than that, we would stay here again.

The best part about this property was the location as it was easily accessible and close to everywhere we wanted to go. Also the subway was super close which was great. Staff were also very nice and helpful. The negatives, the property was sort of run down in the main areas, hall way areas were dirty, and half of the elevators were broken. Family of 5 travelling with kids, so upon arrival and all the lugging up and down was crazy, especially with being in the city on the weekend the hotel was sold out, so the amount of people and waiting to get to your room was long. Obviously we made it work and your getting what you pay for. The only other thing was the Parking Fee, Hotels.com has it listed at $55 nightly, however when you get to the hotel, if you have an SUV its $65 nightly, just an FYI! Overall we would return based on location and the nice staff! Just be aware of some of the circumstances you may encounter staying here.

Family of 5 travelling with kids, so upon arrival and all the lugging up and down was crazy, especially with being in the city on the weekend the hotel was sold out, so the amount of people and waiting to get to your room was long. Obviously we made it work and your getting what you pay for. The only other thing was the Parking Fee, Hotels.com has it listed at $55 nightly, however when you get to the hotel, if you have an SUV its $65 nightly, just an FYI! Overall we would return based on location and the nice staff! Just be aware of some of the circumstances you may encounter staying here.
