A really good guest house in Balham with secure parking. The house has plenty of victorian charm & despite being near a main road was very quiet. The room was very clean, I suspect newly decorated, simpley styled with matching furnishings. The shower room was quite small but perfectly adequate for our 2 night stay all in all a really good find.

Excellent place to stay. Clean, recently painted and well cared for. Everything in good working order. Fan by each side of the bed. Every staff member I met was lovely and polite. Was pleasantly surprised for the cost. Highly recommend.

Great location for staying in South London - great value for what you get. One suggestion for people request the room before you check in. It was sold out and we did not request and we had top floor (no elevator) and street facing. Rooms 7/8 might have been better if we had asked in advance

The Hotel / guest house is a well maintained lovely old Victorian building in a great location. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I was staying for work and would definitely stay here again for work or leisure. The only improvement (even though I've scored them 10/10 would be to offer breakfast :-)

Concierge were friendly and polite, useful local information. Not the cleanest yet the room was serviced every day. They were generous with the tea and coffee provision. Shower has gel dispenser and sink has soap dispenser.

The lady on reception in the day was lovely and a credit to Balham Lodge. The room and public areas were clean and tidy. Location was great, about a 10-minute walk from Balham station with the northern line and national rail. There is also a bus stop near the front of the Lodge. I would stay again at Balham Lodge in a flash!

An excellent find! This was an outstanding hotel despite only booking for a one night stay. The room was clean, warm, comfortable with everything we needed. The building is stunning and the member of staff on duty was friendly and helpful. The hotel was very quiet despite being on a busy main road. There is a bus stop just nearby but it is only a 10 minute walk to Balham station/centre. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area. Many thanks

This was my 4th stay at this Lodge and have never been disappointed, Staff on reception are always courteous. Rooms are very warm in the Summer but fans are provided. will definitely be back.

Everything was great apart from the Wi-Fi which is not good enough to stream anything and signal doesn’t reach all rooms. I’d recommend investment in this so that all rooms have good signal and the speed is sufficient for streaming.

Good location, we enjoyed a comfortable single night stay at Balham Lodge. We were on the top floor, where there is compromised headroom on one side of the bed. But the bed and good quality bedding allowed for a good night's sleep.

Good location, decent price and the room was nice. But the bed was uncomfortable - I could feel the springs in my side - and we only had one small thin pillow each. It was pretty hot in there, despite the fan being on (which was very loud), and it was only about 22 degrees that day. All in all not a great night’s sleep!

Very friendly and very helpful staff. A little bit noisy as I had a road facing room on the ground floor and the residents above me were heavy footed on the wooden flooring! Not enough to put me off staying again though.

I had a confirmed, prepaid booking at Balham Lodge for my family. After a long drive with our two-year-old, we arrived shortly before ten in the evening. We were told the room had been given away minutes earlier to someone who booked later that night. This was not a mix-up. They knowingly handed our room to another guest and left us with nothing. The receptionist was the same person who, the day before, insisted the booking could not be cancelled. Twenty-four hours later he was checking in a later booking and informing me our room was gone. That tells you everything you need to know about how this place operates. We were left outside at night with a restless child, searching for somewhere else to stay. We didn’t secure another hotel until close to midnight and had to pay far more for it. The disruption derailed the start of our weekend and forced us to spend the next morning recovering instead of doing what we came to London for. This establishment cannot be trusted to honour a confirmed reservation. Anyone expecting basic professionalism should avoid it.

Delightful spot at the edge of Tooting Common green, and short walk to Balham proper, with the train and local pubs, restaurants and shopping. Rooms are charming and well kept, modest and attractive. The building is charming Victorian brickwork, and you have all the mod cons inside. Great to stay if you're going to be in Streatham, Wandsworth, Tooting, Balham, etc. Very walkable and pleasant.

All three staff that I interacted with were really friendly and helpful. Room was large, clean, comfortable and nicely arranged. I had a kettle, coffee, tea, milk and a private shower room. Next to the common and an easy walk (or 315 bus) from Balham High Street, the tube and trains. Great for a walk on the common and for cafes and shops. Bring your own water and breakfast as required. All good, would stay again.

A charming, old-school place, just right for an overnight stay when you need it. One disappointment: at time of writing, this hotel does not offer breakfast, although I believe this is still on the listing. Overall, a pleasant, comfortable and quiet experience, in a convenient south London location.
