Liked a lot: Spacious, clean rooms, walk to the beach and restaurants, friendly staff, sufficient parking. Liked less: dogs of some guests barking non-stop. Property is a somewhat outdated.

Classic motel. Extra sink outside the bathroom was great when staying with 3 people. Big Mini fridge, microwave, a broom for the sand which was great, a large trash can, small pool but clean and secure parking. We had a full size coffee maker, wish I had brought my own coffee for a whole pot! Most importantly, it was clean and safe. We have stayed at other motels in the area, this isn’t my favorite but I would recommend staying here.

Booked 3 nights in October so we could take our 2 dogs to the beach and boardwalk. Opted for the efficiency and are glad we did. Full size fridge and 2 burner stove top were very handy. Cookware, silverware and china were all provided. Plenty of towels. Pool was still open but the weather was a tad too cool to us. AC was ice cold. Staff was friendly and super helpful. Free poo bags. Highly recommended.

The property was great. Parking was awesome with lots of options. The room was clean and quite large. The balcony was nice to sit on and the pool was very clean. Highly recommend staying here!

The room was a bit dated (old), more importantly it appeared clean, including the bathroom, and more spacious than expected. Being a pet-friendly hotel, the bare floors are smart; the room was equipped with a broom and dustpan to clean any messes, including sand from the beach, up quickly. The areas for pets to do their thing are also nice and large, to mingle with other guest’s pets. Access to the beach is super close and convenient; however, the City doesn’t allow dogs on the beach from May 1 to September 30; it would be nice if this information was included on the booking website.

It was okay for price. Elevator smelled like smoke.

We had a wonderful family getaway at The Barefoot Mailman last weekend.The staff, especially Kay, were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making us feel truly welcomed. They even gave our Samoyed plenty of attention at every opportunity. The room was well-priced, with comfortable beds and a generous selection of pillows for a great night’s sleep. The location is perfect—just a block from the beach with a sidewalk leading straight to the sand, no roads to cross! Situated in midtown, the hotel is surrounded by plenty of dining options, and the boardwalk is just a short drive south. As a pet-friendly motel, it offers designated pet areas, though they’re a bit small, and you may need to wait for other pets to clear out—a minor drawback for one of the few pet-friendly spots in Ocean City. The pool was open and never felt overcrowded, adding to the relaxing vibe. The room included dishes and a broom for pet owners, which was thoughtful, but adding a sponge and a roll of paper towels would make it even more convenient. Free parking is included in your stay and if you don't get a spot underneath the motel, there is overflow parking directly in front. Very convenient. We fell in love with Ocean City and The Barefoot Mailman’s warm hospitality. We’ll definitely book here again for our next trip!

Great little motel half a block from the beach. Yet can also see the bay. Clean pool. Safe. Very pet friendly. Downside. No breakfast or coffee. Or view of the beach from the rooms. But overall a great stay.

We were pleased with our stay. Room was clean and had nice amenities. Checkin and out was fast and they were really friendly and polite. Only thing I would say is that they need to make sure guest know where the ice machine is when checking in as we never did find it but we seen another guest with their ice bucket filled in the elevator. Also it would be nice to have a soda/drink machine on site. And I know it is pet friendly which I love that but there was one day that the elevator had dog urine on the floor for several hours before it was cleaned up, which made the smell awful. I know the dog owner should have cleaned it up but something that should be checked on more often and cleaned up if pet owners aren’t responsible enough to do so.

Overall, we had a great experience. Location is prime. You are about 2 minutes from the beach and do not have to cross any major roads. The pool is a decent size and right on property. Ample parking. Dog friendly. As for the room, it was overall ok. It could use some updates in the bathroom and vanity. The beds were clean. The bathroom had some hair, and it looked like the mirrors weren't cleaned. There were some flies, but I suspect it was just from leaving the door open. Every morning, house keeping stopped by to see if we needed anything which was great. The mini fridge was a good size. Overall, it could use some updating, but given the price and location, we would definitely stay here again.

Room was very clean and comfortable. It was great being able to bring my Rottweiler who spent most of the time napping on the beds. The area is great for walking around and easy beach access.

I would just like to recommend better cleaning.

We had stayed here in 2018 and the property was newly renovated and clean. We revisited this property in 2024 and the room smelled like a dog salon. The room didn't feel clean, there was mold on the ceiling, and dust was covered in many areas - such as the headboard. To add insult to injury, our bathroom ceiling began to leak on our second day, so we decided to check out early and leave for another hotel.

There were a few things that I wasn't exactly happy with, but they weren't deal breakers for a possibility of another stay. The beds could be better. They seem old. They make noise when you turn over and they aren't the best for side sleepers. The door to the room was open upon checking in, which meant there were some flies in the room that we had to chase down. The floors weren't swept the best, but they do have a broom left in the room. The first night there, the hot water was out for a few hours. The staff was really friendly and helpful, but I didn't appreciate several knocks on the door to see if we were gone yet that started about 15 minutes before checkout time. The front desk did say this should not have happened and that they would talk to the individuals.

Good location, gentleman upon checkin was great, room was clean…overall. The bathroom condition was a bit much, as the tub had hair, holes on the walls and ceiling water damage. Although a motel, they should maintain conditions as they have the liberty of charging prime rates during the season.

Definitely would stay again. Comfortable and kitchenette was an added bonus. Stove, fridge, microwave with convection oven type selections.

Our room was spacious and clean. Staff was incredibly kind and helpful, especially Debbie. The beach is about a five minute walk. The rooms could stand to get some more comfortable mattresses, but I highly recommend staying here!

It's starting to show its age, but overall a comfortable stay. We liked the large fridge and the size of the room, but street traffic was an issue.

We have been doing family trips to Ocean City for 33 years. We would often talk about the Barefoot Mailman and how much we liked the name. This year we were on a very tight budget, and all the usual places we stay was out of our price range. Then we saw the Barefoot Mailman with a unbelievable price. We reserved it and when we arrived the night manager Brad was so helpful. We explained that we had a bad experience once, and we wanted to see the room before we signed the paperwork. He went up ahead of us and checked that everything was in perfect order. Each night he came on duty he would see us and make sure we were happy with our stay so far. It was the beginning of Senior week and a pet friendly hotel, but we never experienced any noise or problems in the hotel. The road noise was loud sometimes from the loud cars racing up and down. Housekeeping checked in everyday to see if we needed anything. The room was spacious, clean, and had a king and double bed that was very comfortable. I would gladly stay there again and they have a sister hotel just two blocks away where you could enjoy the amenities there also.

Well kept motel. All staff were friendly and helpful. We were very pleased and would definitely stay there again.

Staff were nice and helpful would had like it if there were more days available to book

Front desk staff the whole weekend were fabulous. Everyone was nice and helpful. Locked ourselves out of the room, but they got us back in super quick. 2nd time I've been and would return.

The staff here, are next level kind. Not only did every employee we came into contact with also greet our dog (and I do mean everytime we saw someone they said hi to us and our dog) staff talked to us about different events ocean city has and what we should come back down for. The kind woman who checked us in late Thursday night has to be the sweetest person I have ever met in ocean city. She pulled a double shift and still talked with my fiancé at i at 1030 at night with a bright smile on her face about all the different things we could do in the morning, and asked us about our travels. Only complaint I have is the floor in our room was sticky and left our feet brown when walking on it barefoot, most likely a bunch of layers of sunscreen from people staying in the room before us. The employee Debbie and her son, I forgot his name but he also works here, are the reason we will 100 percent be staying at this hotel again. Debbie and her son went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, and gave our dog extra love every chance they could. Great people.

The hotel had just what we needed for a weekend away with our dog. The room was clean and had free coffee in the room. There is also a medium fridge and microwave and a toaster was provided thanks to Derek at the front desk who found it for us late Friday evening. There is plenty of parking and many things to walk to around the hotel. There is a pool but we never checked it out. The ice machine is near the lobby. The only downside I could see was no one at the front desk after hours, which luckily we didn’t need anything, but it says to contact the hotel 1-2 blocks away if anything is needed after hours. I wasn’t sure what to do for check out since no one was there yet but we left our keys in the drop box outside the lobby.

We arrived right after their opening for the season. Check in was easy, staff was great, awesome location and easy beach access in minutes.

We came down for the Boardwalk Rock 2 day concert, and it was awesome to stay at your hotel. The staff was very polite and the hotel was located far from the action, but extremely close to the beach. Transportion to the boardwalk was easy on the public bus. The whole facility was clean and it’s fantastic. That pets were allowed. We will remember that next time.

Our stay at this hotel was one of the best experiences we’ve had with our dogs. It truly stands out as a dog-friendly spot. The daily fee for our pups was lower than at any other location we've visited, making it a budget-friendly choice for pet owners. The location of the hotel was ideal. Just a short walk to a beautiful, uncrowded beach and close to Barn 34, which served delicious breakfast and brunch options. The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, contributing to a warm atmosphere throughout our stay. The hotel was super clean, though we did notice that the decor was a bit outdated and could benefit from some updating. One of the great perks was the late-night pizza place conveniently located across the street, perfect for satisfying cravings after a day of adventures. Additionally, the area felt safe, giving us peace of mind while enjoying our time. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and will definitely be returning to this lovely hotel. Highly recommend it to anyone traveling with dogs!

I loved finding out that the entire facility is pet friendly meaning I didn’t have to make any special calls or advanced reservations to get a pet friendly room like at other places! The pet fee is reasonable compared to some other places and prices that I was finding in my searches. Everything about our stay here was awesome. This was the first year I’ve ever taken the dogs on vacation and thanks to the Barefoot Mailman we will be coming back every year now! I love the fact that the dogs could be left alone, but weren’t required to be in a crate because that causes some serious anxiety for them. I felt comfortable enough, leaving the dogs out of their crates because the room was safe and there was nothing that they were going to get into. They loved having the green space for potty breaks and also having the alleyway to walk up and down to stretch our legs which kept us away from the main road. The staff was friendly and occasionally asked if it was okay to pet or acknowledge the dogs- which the dogs of course loved! They also learned very quickly that the office had Milk-bones LOL! I like the fact that the rooms were clean and also did not smell. The rooms are also spacious so they can accommodate both human belongings and dog belongings. The kitchenette was an added bonus. It came stocked with utensils and dishes. The beach is a short walk away, as well as plenty of restaurants, and shops. The front office also has a cool list of pet friendly restaurants around.

Honestly, I booked this as a last-minute decision to take a trip to the beach. I found that the price was very reasonable and the locations if GREAT! It's not luxury, but it is very clean, and the room was updated with a farmhouse sort of vibe. The bed was comfy and the bedding was very cozy. I liked that I had the option to bring my dog even though I opted not to. The hotel is a sister hotel to Castle-In-The-Sand just 1.5 blocks over. We frequented that hotel during the day because they have live music and a great bar called Coconuts, smack on the beach front. They even serve at the beach to your chairs. If you don't plan on spending a lot of time in your room and you don't want to pay an exuberate price, I recommend this lovely hotel.
