This place couldn’t have done enough for us, highly recommend I am a wheel chair user, lift to first floor and basement for breakfast Staff were amazing thank you so much As a wheelchair user the front door step had a little lip which I struggled a little getting over but rest of building very good access

Brilliant if you are watching football at St Andrews,. Great bar, parking available but ltd, plenty on the streets. Great staff, everyone makes you so welcome, the breakfast is well worth the £6.50 i paid.

Car parking is only for 4 cars and its also used as a beer garden people standing all around your car putting their pints of beer on the roof of your car not very good, avoid this place on a Saturday if there is a football match on as it’s next door.

The pub/hotel was very dated and in need of new carpets and furniture throughout apart from the cellar room where breakfast was served. This room and the breakfast itself were very good and redeemed the overall impression of the stay. It was overall very good value, cheap for a city hotel with free parking and excellent breakfast included.

Secure parking, incredible friendly and welcoming staff, basic clean room, fantastic stay if needing to go to Birmingham centre

Perfectly acceptable stay, ok it wasn't the Hilton and the room was basic and comfortable, I would say 2*, for the price and location to the city center it was worth it. Staff were friendly, bar and lounge looked nice but didn’t use. Easy to check in and had no issues with the stay. Fresh sheets and a welcoming bed after a long day, 11am check out was a bonus. Parking was safe and secure but limited so get there early. Thank you

Don’t go after the picture on the website as they’ve been taken probably years ago when it has been renovated. It’s dirty, noisy and the area looks creepy. The car park…well you have a sport car then you better call the garage before you go in there. Won’t go back.

Poorly maintained property. Room just above the bar and hence very noisy till early hours of the morning. The good bit is the price for the room. I am unlikely to stay here again.

First impressions were not good. No one available to check in. Room was good size but needed a deep clean and walls, doors etc needed redecorating and greasy, unwashed smell greeted us. Bathroom toilet and shower looked clean but rest of it was very dirty and noisy fan going all night. Bathroom door did not close properly or have any lock. Window did not shut and had inch gap blowing wind and noise through it which we had to stuff with towel. No main light fitted so room was dark. No fire safety notices on door and flimsy lock that did not feel secure. Never any staff around even when we reported window, no apology just said couldn’t move us. Very unhelpful and unapproachable. Car park underneath had no ramp so was unsuitable for our car, so we had to park in the street. Very noisy lewd regulars in bar Saturday night made the lounge unusable for us. Ordered just 2 drinks from the bar which they got wrong and was just given a small bottle of wine without even a glass! We were so glad we did not order breakfast as would not have wanted to eat anything from there due to grease, dust & dirt everywhere downstairs. On the plus side, upstairs our room 11 was not as bad as expected from the downstairs and was of a good size and place was easy to find and had a lift although that too had seen better days. Beds were clean and comfy with feather pillows. Although cheap I would have at least expected room to be clean if basic! Would not stay here ever again or recommend to anyone.

Arriving the staff were lovely and the locals were all nice too. Good location and nice and quiet. It isn’t modern or super clean, it is rather dusty and the bathrooms smell damp. You get what you pay for really. The beds were comfy enough and there are smart TVs although take a while to get working. I have never seen a bed bug in real life before, but we did find what we believe to be one bedbug. We checked the entire beds and there did not appear to be anymore, so we really weren’t completely sure. I attached a screenshot from a video I took, but look out for tiny bugs that are reddy/brown. The cook was also lovely and the breakfast (full English) was delicious. Upon leaving, there was a dead mouse right next to my car. You honestly have to laugh but it was quite gross. All in all, not the most pleasant stay, however the staff were lovely.

I could go into great detail but my main concern is just to let people know that there are bed bugs in this hotel and if you stay here you run quite a risk of ending up transferring them to your home which I wouldn't wish on anybody. We stayed here and saw them/got bitten but when we have tried to tell the hotel about it (as have many others looking at the reviews - going back years!) they just deny it and carry on letting people stay there. This is totally unacceptable. If you don't know much about bed bugs then it's not just a case of getting bitten through the night, they are "hitchikers" and they travel around via people's luggage/clothes/anything they can get into. Please avoid!

Like - cheap price , friendly woman who was on the bar, cheap drinks, bar had a pay music box where you can pick your own music to play. Unique - nothing Dislike - There is a couple of things that need to be improved and changed. There needs to be more staff around the bar to help. Also the rooms are not maintained at all. The first room that we had. The bathroom floor was soaked so we moved to a different room. However , still with problems. The shower was leaking there was more water coming from the bottom of it than the actual shower head. The headboards abit sturdy and the chair wasn’t in the best of condition. The toilet wasn’t flushed on last use. Since we have checked out my partner has noticed signs that are bed bugs lingering around as he has bites which I believe has came from this hotel and that these bites are bed bugs. The standard of hygiene is very poor. I would highly recommend to get all the rooms checked. Bar didn’t have much beer on tap only carling & carling cider, cools and thatchers cider.

Looks nothing like the pictures. Very dirty, the bed was full of hairs & the sink was blocked with dirt. Hair all on the bathroom floor it was disgusting. Paid for breakfast but was told that they weren’t serving the following morning. The pub itself was very outdated & not clean. Only real positive is the pricing in terms of staying for 1 night & the location. The pictures are extremely misleading.

Had bed bugs. I found put after as i had lots of marks and it was very itchy. Notified the hotel through hotels.com but never heard back from anyone.

Arrived as a mid stop stay amd stayed 20 minutes max room was filthy took video of dirty there was stains in toilet on walls,carpets, marks on walls headboard, dust on windows. We left saying we cannot stay because of how filthy it was, i recived a call from mangeress this morning amd the voicmail she left included insults amd was vile, we called her back and was met with rude, vile comments and terrible custoner service amd spoke down to me and my partner, we passed phone to my partners mother amd the mangeress was so rude amd ended up cutting call off.

This was a truly unacceptable stay. Security was nonexistent, as the main room door, bathroom door, and window all failed to shut or lock properly. Furthermore, the parking lot was hazardous, covered in smashed glass. The level of filth throughout the property was shocking. The carpets were uncleaned, and the wardrobe had disgusting, dried streaks that looked like uncleaned sick. The shower head was completely black with grime, and what appeared to be black mold marks were visible on the curtains and all public banisters. Functionality was equally poor. The TV and WiFi didn't work, and the room was lit by only a single light source on the ceiling. Overall, the entire property was profoundly unclean and had an unpleasant smell. This establishment is in severe need of deep cleaning, maintenance, and basic safety inspections. I cannot recommend it.

I stayed for one night in a twin room. The bed was clean and comfortable. Coffee and tea making facilities were present. However, the negative things I have to say are that there was no plug on the hand basin in the toilet. Plus dirt came up the plug hole when I ran the taps and bits were floating around the sink. It made me feel sick and I borked at the sight of it. Some of the lights in the room didn't work because there were no switches to turn them on. The room window didn't open very wide because it had been fixed into a tight position, possibly for safety reasons. And finally, the photos of Royal George Hotel, Birmingham, are nothing like the hotel itself. In your gallery the bar and restaurant area is pristine with silver lights and well decorated. In reality it is not. I suggest you have one of your photographers pay them a visit.

When I 1st arrived everything was fine until my key wasn’t working properly took ages to get into the room. In the end had to changed key cards but was given the same problem. Then to make matters worse there was bed bugs which enjoyed biting me throughout the night to say I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Staff was very friendly tho.When I mentioned the bugs to the staff she said they don’t bed bugs and the they had special trained dogs to check the room

Good place to stay. Could do with a lick of paint here and there. Window in room broken did not shut properly and because its on a main road, could here road noise, but not a major problem. Remote control for the telly did not work even after changing the batteries and telly screen broken But these things are not game changers so no big worry. Right near Birmingham CIty Football club so if going to the match it is ideally situated and bust after the game. Lovely friendly staff. Great cooked breakfast. About a 40 min walk into the city but on the bus route and taxi easily available.

My interaction with staff was fine and a lovely lady called me a cab. The room was very drab with a broken window. The bed was comfy and warm room. It was fine just rather run down.

The property is run down. The window does not shut therefore it was very loud (traffic) Shower was not fully functioning, shower door broken could not close properly. Pictures do not look like the property in person. Staff very friendly

Large clean room. WiFi was weak or no existent. Despite signs everywhere NO SMOKING or VAPING the place was fully of smokers even in front of staff. No food hotel but large shopping centre with probably 6 food outlets about 300m. Easy to locate and get to with minimal city traffic. Did have an issue with noise the second night a fellow kept knocking on the door despite being told he had the wrong room. Quick check in. Room cleaned nicely each day

To start with the positives: the staff were really nice, the room was clean, and the breakfast was good. However, my room's window did not close properly, which meant that all the noise from the busy street and the cigarette smoke of the people smoking in front of the building came into my room. The bed was so wobbly I was scared it would collapse under my weight. Fortunately, it didn't. I was not happy that there was no storage space in the room: no shelves, only one hanger, no hooks or pegs. The sign in the room said that I would find the WiFi password on the invoice, but I did not receive an invoice. I did not receive anything at check-in, other than the key. The hotels.com receipt did not have a code, and none of the other communications from the hotel had it. On the plus side, I had good mobile reception, so I could use my mobile net. The emails from the hotel were confusing and misleading. They explained how to get to the car park at a different hotel, they explained how I can cancel my booking at a different travel company, not hotels.com, and they promised deep shag-pile carpet. There was no carpet in the room.

Hotel needs a facelift. It is very runny down. The biggest issue for me was the mattress was so uncomfortable. I could feel the springs and the mattress needs replacing. The window in my room also didn’t shut and hotel was quite noisy. The staff were friendly but I wouldn’t stay here again due to the comfort issues

When we first arrived we was horrified and wanted a refund .. the curb is about 5inches into the car park at the side of the hotel .. entrance looked scruffy and there was drunken men in the entrance .. so off putting.. staff was so helpful they sorted the room earlier for us I think we was expecting it to be horrendous.. was pleasantly surprised it was clean and fresh bedding in our twin room and it felt safe and away from the pub area…we was exhausted and grateful to rest … had a nice nights sleep .. staff were so lovely and helpful… room a little scruffy paintwork etc but basics were fresh towels and bedding and a tv … for the price I think we actually got a good deal .. even the drunken men in bar area .. were lovely and helpful and polite.. Breakfast was delicious staff friendly and helpful..soooo yes we would happily stay there again …everything looked much nicer in the morning.. breakfast Area clean and cosy … we recommend you give it a try .. lesson learnt.. Never judge a book by its cover ❤️

The room was clean and tidy but the remote control didnt work, the shower was difficult to work and the dpor was all broken so it was hard to close and lpck. The lady who checked us in, but the old man that was working throughout the night was very rude, and the drinker he got rhe ruder he got. He actually swore at us a couple of times.heneeds to stop drinking so much and learn some manners. The building is nothing like the puctures from what we saw and its pretty shabby and worn. Also the lift only goes to the first floor then you have to lug everything up the remaining stairs. I wouldnt stay there again

The check in was ok. But my room key was not working and was asked to pick up another which was quite inconvenient. We were traveling with an infant which was part of the booking but the reception and first floor smelled alcohol. When I returned back from dinner late at night the door was closed and upon calling the reception a drunk person came and opened the door who couldn’t even work properly. I felt very unsafe and uncomfortable with the whole setup especially as a first time staying there with family. Would not recommend for family visits as hygiene and maintenance of the room was also satisfactory.

Great staff, nice comfy clean room and a good breakfast in the morning. Far more than you could ask for when 2 people staying for under £100. Will definitely book again if we come back to Birmingham.

Very friendly staff. Hotel would benefit from a lick of paint but the room I booked was large, warm, clean and had lovely fluffy towels, so no complaints for the price paid. Take ear plugs if you're a light sleeper because it's next to a main road. The hotel is about 5 minutes' walk from Birmingham City football ground, which is a big advantage/disadvantage during the football season depending on whether you're a football fan or not!

The area is a friendly but rough working class (immigrant) area, but yet close to the central city. I haven’t found any shop or so around, but lots down town. I was in doubt when I booked this hotel, and even more when I got into their bar. Not speaking of the corridor leading to my room with its carpet...But I was positively surprised when I got the room, not perfect, not newly painted, but quite ok. The beds and sheets where clean and sort of new, the bathroom was very ok. I had two issues, to take a shower you ”need” to be inside to turn on the water, and the warm water takes a while to come, and the floor in the room wasn’t 100% vacuumed. I could definitely come back! And by the way, even if some things are worn out, ages ago, it has its charm, the locals in the pub take care of each other, have their social life attended too, so it’s all very familiar 😍

Access to restaurants for dinning was very scarce. Surrounding areas were noisy with late night traffic

This hotel is next door to the Birmingham Fc football stadium and is in a rough and ready area. The hotel is part of a local pub for those that enjoy a drink. The hotel rooms are decent and the bed was huge. The staff that greeted us and who we spoke to on departure where very friendly. For a reasonable priced city hotel i would defiantly recommend and i would stay again.

Clean and comfy double room, great value, easy check-in and check-out. Great location, about a £6 uber from Birmingham New Street so very convenient. Thanks again!

Beautiful room, friendly welcome and only 10 minutes from the city by 97 bus which stops outside. Recommended - just one reservation, be aware it is right next to Birmingam City Football ground so can be a bit noisy and busy when home games are on, there again, that may be an advantage for you!

After reading reviews I was pretty worried about staying here but actually it was fine. The room was clean the staff were pleasant, the area is a bit rough but fine. Walkable to digbeth. Beds were comfortable. It’s nice that it has a locked carpark overnight so you know your car is safe. The only negative was that when we got back at 2am our key card didn’t work in the outside door. Thankfully I had taken a photo of the phone numbers on the wall of the pub for the night staff and even more thankfully someone answered the phone and let us in. Would stay again

For the price, the hotel is fine. Right next to the football ground, and walking distance to the city centre. The place is a bit run down but was fine.

I couldn't find a microwave to warm my food. There was no fridge in the room and no telephone to communicate the staff. Above all the environment looks unkept and desolate. Inside the rooms were moderately ok but the open entrance and the corridor leading to the rooms were all untidy. The carpet inside the room was very very dirty and old. To worsen the whole situation, I requested for my breakfast which I paid for and was told they don't offer breakfasts, so how do I generally my refund for the breakfast not served.

Really good comfortable room, although room is above the pub, I had no noise at all. Breakfast was £7 and worth it, food was cooked fresh and coffee is brewed to order. Will be rebooking here for sure:)
