The Marlin Hotel

The Marlin is a very nice hotel. It is located one block from South Beach and they provide beach bags, towels, and chairs for you. The rooms were rather big, well decorated, and very comfortable. A continental breakfast is provided. It’s OK, however, things run out and nobody seems to notice that it need refilling. There is valet parking for $42 a night. You can go in and out without extra charges. I would recommend the Marlin if you are going to South Beach.

Cute place but not sure why they charge a daily resort fee when there’s not even a pool. Also, the snacks and drinks in the room are 3 times the normal price and you get 1 free baby water bottle included, not even a full size.

Excellent hotel and restaurant

Lovely hotel 3 minute walk to the beach. Spacious clean room with all amenities , clean modern bathroom. Comfortable bed, beach towels available. Didn’t have time to try the restaurant but apparently it’s rated one of the best in Miami. Close to restaurants and shopping area. No staff to help with cases up to the room, no umbrellas in lobby so we got soaked in a thunderstorm walking back from car park No valet parking but $20 a day public car park close by (and could park right outside the hotel to load / unload cases).

Was a perfect size hotel within walking distance of many restaurants and one block from the beach. The amenity that provided beach chairs/umbrella/towels was also appreciated. Very helpful staff. Rooms were quiet. Would definitely stay there again.

My two priorities for a hotel for this trip were valet parking and that they served breakfast. I chose to stay at The Marlin Hotel because it offered both of these amenities. When I arrived at the hotel, I was told that they no longer had valet parking but there was a garage nearby. At this point I wasn’t going to search for new accommodations. I checked in and went to park my car. When I returned to the hotel, before going up to my room I asked what time they started serving breakfast. I was told they hadn’t served breakfast in a year, but there were nearby restaurants they could recommend. You can see from the pictures that they are still advertising valet parking and a breakfast buffet. The hotel blames Hotels.com. Hotels.com blames the hotel. I really didn’t want to give the hotel a bad review because everything else about it is lovely. The staff is friendly, the rooms are nice, and the location is excellent. However, I resent being misled and no one accepting responsibility for the inaccurate description online.

Watch out for the bogus, non optional “amenity fee”. It includes a couple of small bottles of water, espresso if you drink it and a rather lame “breakfast” consisting of boiled eggs, croissants, muffins or toast. Better to just be upfront with the room charges and not add this trumped up amenity fee. Otherwise a very nice boutique hotel.

Property is just a block from the beach. Beach chairs, umbrella, and towels are provided by the hotel. They have parking available at an indoor garage just a block away, allowing in and out privileges for a reasonable daily rate. Very attentive and friendly staff

Disappointing and misleading! This hotel advertises valet parking but unfortunately their definition of valet parking is driving 2 blocks down the road to a parking garage. This is clearly false advertisement. When an establishment advertises valet parking, you expect to drive up to the building where an attendant takes your car and parks it for you and conversely bring you your car when you leave. One of the very reasons I chose this hotel is because I had to check out by 4am for an early flight and walking to a parking garage with my luggage at 4am is a safety concern. Needless to say I was less than enthused to learn that I had no choice but to do just that - walk at 4am with my luggage to a parking garage where I was met with an out of order elevator and needed to dragged my luggage up 3 flights of stairs. This is just not acceptable. Be honest and update your website that you do not offer valet parking but rather you have parking available offsite. One other misleading note - charging a $27 “amenity fee” upon check in because you provide a Keurig in the room as well as beach towels, is truly underhanded. Coffee makers are standard for any hotel, regardless of the caliber. As far as the beach towels are concerned, you are a beach hotel, that should be a common courtesy based on your location. Although it was a nice hotel in a good location, there are plenty of other equally situated choices in the area that may not be so misleading in advertising their amenities.

I used the reviews to choose this hotel of the many in Miami Beach, particularly cleanliness. The reviews didnt do the cleanliness justice, its was spotless honestly. All of the staff are wonderful. It is quaint, well appointed and very comfortable. Fab location. Nothing to fault. I will be back asap.

Good location - 5 min walk to the beach. A bit noisy, party area. Bathroom was updated, but my room was a bit dusty near the bedside lights and could be cleaner.

The Marlin was clean, comfortable, and cozy. It’s a perfect location close to lots of excellent options for food and shops. The room was perfect for me and my husband. We will would definitely stay here again the next time we are in Miami.

Very clean & welcoming !

I stayed in this hotel a few years ago and so wanted to return. The hotel is not what it used to be. Staff is not as friendly as I'd expect except for the restaurant staff. They don't valet park anymore so you have to go a couple blocks to park in a public garage. No one to help with your bags. The toilet paper holder was broken in the room so really annoying. Not nearly enough coffee provided in the room. In the mornings hallways were full of dirty laundry. The restaurant is still very good. I won't stay here again but will return for the restaurant.

The room was clean and spacious-

This was one of the worst hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. The room #106 was extremely small. There was no sofa nor arm chair. Very small closet that was already full of stuff that we were charged for but didn’t use like 2 large robes, a safe on the floor, and a large canvas bags with two beach towels. No room to put anything on the floor. There was an extremely small refrigerator full of expensive treats like candy mini bottles of alcohol, chips etc., leaving absolutely no room for us to put anything in it. We were not interested in purchasing that junk. We brought our own snacks like fruit, veggie salads etc and had no way of keeping it cold. The bathroom was very small with no vanity space over the sink, to put our toiletries. That was so inconvenient trying to figure out how to manage these items/or rather where to place them. The bathroom is so close to the bed, it felt like we were sleeping in the bathroom. I found out later that all of the rooms are not that small. The picture accompanying our reservation showed a room with a queen size bed and a sofa. Imagine the shock when we saw this room. We chose to stay there only because we were traveling with several other family members who were staying there and we arrived to late at night to try to find another hotel. We made due as best we could. Even the bed was uncomfortable. I awoke each morning with a slight backache. Only positive was the room was clean. We paid over $600.00 for crap. Will never stay there again.

Fabulous find- small boutique style hotel with very spacious rooms, upscale amenities and very friendly staff. Unfortunately, the only pictures I took were of the bathroom!! It was very nice! Huge, with a rain shower and removable shower hose. The hotel is located super close to the beach! They offered beach chairs and umbrellas. There are great restaurants all around. We were travelling with two 19 year old boys so they had their own room and raved about how comfortable the sofa bed was. It was literally big enough for two people to sleep in comfortably. The boys were playing music in their room pretty loud when I went over to visit their room but I couldn’t hear it at all from my room next door or out in the hall so I’d say the rooms are pretty sound proof. Although, at one point it did sound like there was an elephant walking above us but nothing that was too bothersome. The hotel shares space with a restaurant and they were very friendly and accommodating as well. They didn’t seem to mind us loitering around as the check in area is pretty small. I would definitely return!

We loved the large room and the spacious bathroom. The large closet was also a plus. Only downside was that our window was a view of the alley with the dumpster.

We booked a corner suite with a king-sized bed and the rounded windows overlooking the street. It was spacious, comfortable, clean, and had the view of the hustle and bustle along Collins Avenue. The room was surprisingly quiet, given the traffic and very busy restaurant just one floor below us, and the AC kept the room comfortable. The bed and bedding were very nice, and the bathroom had a giant tub as well as a shower with two shower heads. We stayed for 5 nights. The Marlin is only a block from the beach and Ocean Drive, which was an easy walk we made a few times a day just to people watch and grab a snack or drink. Parking was a block away in the municipal parking garage, and it was very easy to get in and out when we wanted to drive somewhere. The service was very friendly and helpful. There were only a couple things that were not perfect, and we have laughed about it - nothing serious. First, the TV in our room turned itself on intermittently the entire stay. I slept with the remote next to me, and would just turn the TV off if it woke me up. Second, we had a Nespresso machine in our room, but were only replenished with decaf pods. We even asked for more regular pods, and they brought us a whole bunch more decaf pods. I don't think the staff could tell the difference for some reason, but it was funny and they were trying very hard so we didn't say anything. If you want to stay in a wonderful, historic, slightly quirky hotel in South Beach, we recommend the Marlin.

Room had two tvs, one didn’t work at all, the other had a handful of working channels, most of which were in Spanish. Both tvs were older so you couldn’t connect them to Netflix etc. we wanted to watch a movie and sadly could not. We liked a lot of things about this hotel, but having a basic thing like this not working means will never be back.

It was a good location. Art Deco outside as advertised. But some things could be better. 1) Check in area is very cramped - desk, chairs - all too big for space. Reconsider the space. 2) The rooms on the main floor where the restaurant is have no key card at the entrance to make sure guests only can get to the rooms. Security could be better. 3) I get the rooms on the main level facing the building nextdoor will not have a view. But when you advertise as a boutique art deco experience, your window shouldn’t face garbage. Literally. Clean up the alley. Maybe paint a mural on the wall. It was ok. Would try another place next time.

Reserved a front corner suite and it was a beautiful room. Very spacious. David was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about the hotel and the area Because of the location of the front corner room street noise can be heard but it’s not overwhelming. Great property.

Loved this art deco style hotel. We had a dinner at the restaurant on the main level that was fabulous! Great location, but partly because of the location, it is loud. The rooms are not sound proof so you hear everything that is happening on the street. The front desk was friendly.

When we arrived we waited about 15 minutes for someone from the front desk to greet us. There was only one person working so it was a very slow process. Once checked in we discovered the remotes controlled both TVs so they couldn't be watched at the same time. Also one TV didn't connect to apps at all while the other did. It was confusing. The only other option was direct TV which was basic cable and infomercials. When I called to ask for help, no one answered, so I had to walk down to the front desk to get assistance. He couldnt fix the issues so my kids couldn't watch TV.

Great price, great location and walking distance to the beach! Hotel even provides chairs, towels snd umbrellas! That was awesome! Gentleman that was at the desk when we arrived was so friendly and made us feel welcomed! Room wasn’t ready because we arrived early but he took bags and gave us towels and chairs so we could enjoy the beach until we were able to check-in. All staff were so polite and pleasant! Room was clean and spacious for myself and 2 children. The only thing I can say that was negative, was that I didn’t like the shower head but I would absolutely return to this hotel!

Lovely hotel very close to the beach in prime restaurant and bar area of South Beach. David was lovely and made check in a breeze. The ONLY reason we are giving a 4 star and not a 5 star was due to the fact that the front desk attendant would not give us any silverware from the restaurant to use in our room for a take out meal from another restaurant. She told us the only way to get tableware was to order room service and then suggested my husband go to Walgreens to purchase plasticware and napkins. REALLY??? Completely unacceptable. Sadly, he did so we ended up with a multi-pack of silverware and a double roll of paper towels because that is what Walgreens had.

The hotels were well kept, clean, close to the beach, and close to many places to eat. Management was exceptional. He was very accommodating, professional, and considerate. Will definitely return again!

We stayed here for one night while our flight was delayed. It was myself and my husband and our two small children. Overall our stay was fantastic- Ada at reception was great and got us checked in early, knowing we were travelling with two tired kids. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was fantastic. Definitely 5 star meal and service. The room was great. We had issues with the bathroom door, but the beds and bedding and throw blankets from Sunday Citizen were awesome. Over all a great stay!!

This property is a treasure. However, one of the ladies at the desk could benefit from a customer service class. I felt the dark-haired lady was a bit unprofessional upon arrival. On the other hand, the blonde-haired lady was an absolute gem—very professional and extremely helpful. Overall, the stay was great. The location is very convenient and safe, just one block from the beach. The rooms were clean and updated. I would definitely stay here again when in the Miami area.

Our go-to stay when visiting Miami. Great location. Within walking distance to shopping and one block away from the beach. Rooms were clean and well maintained. The staff marcel at concierge were rude, very thick accent which could barely understandable. When I ask for clarification, the answer was either “ I told you already or it must you first time here “.When someone cut in front of me, instead of acknowledging the situation and correcting it, a daytime women concierge told the people who cut in “he is OK!”, continuing loud conversation in Spanish, was awfully rude when I raised the issue.

Well located close to ocean drive, but thankfully (for us) much quieter,

The Marlin was a good stay, if you want to easily walk to the strip without paying a crazy amount of money. It’s a little quiet for my taste, but super convenient for a luxury stay without crazy foot traffic. As a matter of fact, I don’t think I saw a single other guest there in my 48 hours. If that is your preference, this is an awesome stay.

Great location - one block from Ocean Drive - we went to The Versace Mansion 3 blocks away for dinner - a must see and the cost was the same as any other restaurant in the vicinity- took the hop on hop off one day which was so so but did give us a lay of the land - great trip over all

The Marlin Hotel is a wonderful property that is perfectly located near Ocean Dr and Lincoln Rd shopping. We stayed for only one night but would absolutely be back again. The rooms are very nice, well appointed, with a large comfortable bed. The location is 10/10. Quite literally a 1 minute walk to the beach and just off Ocean Dr so you’re close enough to the nightlife but not too close that you can hear everything. It’s also about 10 minutes to Lincoln Rd. A plethora or food options available nearby as well. Azteca Mexican is just a block away and is phenomenal. Staff are super friendly too! My only complaint, if you want to call it one, is that the hot water in the shower takes a very long time to get hot and did occasionally fluctuate in temperature. Not a big issue though, and honestly it’s probably because the building is nearly 100 years old. Overall, fantastic spot.

Great location

Property was centrally located in South Beach. Only disappointment was breakfast was not available in restaurant. Also, restaurant operated independently from hotel, so meals couldn't be charged to your room.

This is the third time we stayed at this hotel. The location is perfect, the rooms are nice and they provide chairs and umbrella for the beach. They changed a few things this year, including the restaurant on site. It looks very nice but we did not have the chance to try it. They no longer offer breakfast- it would be nice to have that option. As to the staff, some are very welcoming and helpful but one was exceptionally rude. She seemed very bothered- does not match the rest of the staff. Everything else was great.

Great location, accommodating and friendly staff. I had the corner suite which had a great view and a very comfortable bed. The bolognese and alla vodka pasta at Osteria Positano were chef’s kiss. I had a great stay.

Well appointed good size room. Nice decor. Friendly and helpful staff. Very good high end restaurant for lunch and dinner. No breakfast is available at all. This was the only negative of this otherwise beautiful and well located hotel.

We recently stayed at The Marlin and overall had a wonderful experience. The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of South Beach on Collins Ave—and the Art Deco charm, history, and boutique feel of the hotel really set it apart. The staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating throughout our stay, especially when a temporary issue with the key card system arose. While it was a little inconvenient to be escorted to our room each time we returned, they had it fully resolved by that evening, and the team handled it with grace and professionalism. The property itself was incredibly clean and well-maintained, and the vibe was upscale yet relaxed. However, there were a few minor downsides worth mentioning. The bed was firmer than we personally prefer, and the in-room entertainment was limited. The TV only offered a small selection of basic channels, and we were unable to connect to Netflix during our stay. Another area of confusion was the room service. The room details indicated that service from the on-site restaurant was available, but when we called to place an order, we were informed that it wasn’t possible over the phone. Instead, we had to go down to the front and wait for our food in person, which wasn’t the convenience we expected from a room service offering. Still, these small issues didn’t take away from the overall charm of the hotel. If you’re looking for a stylish, centrally located place with friendly staff and a clean, comfortable atmosphere this is it.
