Great location across from cliffs and water. Great views out slider with private deck and chairs. Direct access from deck out to bike/walking path. Organic k-cup coffee was tasty and convenient. Front desk staff was friendly and super helpful. Only downside was WiFi was a little shoddy. Tv would go in and out.

Great location! It’s right on the haul road and has stunning views. The front office staff was very accommodating, letting us store a surfboard there! The hotel is very conscious about water usage and has low flow showers. You can rent bikes at the hotel next door. Wonderful place!

This is an old property but has been updated over the years. It has a lovely view of the ocean and the walking/bike trail is located just out the door. The plumbing needs updated. The toilet overflowed when my son clogged it and the valve to turn the water off behind the toilet was broken off. It took a couple hours to get housekeeping in to clean it up. The lack of housekeeping service because of COVID is a bummer. I've been many places throughout the world this year and this is the only place that is still using COVID as an excuse to not provide housekeeping services. Maybe it's just California in general.

We brought our dog and this place was more than accommodating for animals. Easy access and an area to wash off any dirt and sand for your dogs. Staff was friendly and responsive. Rooms were very clean and beds were comfy

Location is perfect! You can hear and see the beach. Quick access to the walking/ biking trail. Feels somewhat like a condo. Water pressure is low at the sink but the shower was fine. I’m assuming they all are conserving water in this area. Everything was clean. The only issue was coffee as you check. Either I didn’t see it with the cups etc or it wasn’t made. But coffee was in the room as per usual. Check in was easy and quick.

Beautiful location, great views just wish the room was a little cleaner. The vents were gross and the carpet with a bathtub is gross. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable but the pillows were very nice and loved that there was 6!! Overall it was still a good stay and would recommend for the views alone. I also enjoyed a the fact that the tv had Netflix capability.

Overall the place is nice, had an ocean view and a balcony. The double queen beds were comfortable. It was quiet and slept well while hearing the ocean at a distance. Upon arriving, we found nail clippings on the carpet, a used sock underneath the bench, and hair in the bathtub. We called front desk to see if someone can vaccum the carpet but they said they couldnt help me since they we helping another customer and they had a shortage of staff. In a few minutes, a staff bought us the extra shampoo and conditioner. Then we asked the person for a vaccum cleaner. They bought it to our room but we wind up vacumming the carpet, No harm, there must of been some miscommunication. At least I know the floor was vacummed.

We were pleasantly surprised with this property! Travelling for 4 weeks and booking all our lodging by looking at pictures and reviews can be nerve racking, but this place was a gem! Having to pick a different hotel the night before due to being in a terrible area, arriving here was a breath of fresh air! Perfect location to the beautiful walking trails behind the lodge meandering through beautiful wild flowers with the ocean crashing in the rocky coast in the background. A short walk to a nice beach and really cool bridge that was an old railroad bridge. Cute town with all the amenities needed. Will definitely keep this place on the list for a future trip!! The lady that checked us in was super sweet (name escapes me, I think Bridget??) and helpful with all the local attractions. Glass Beach is just down the road and is a must see!

Would have been a 5 star review if not for the horrible mattress. Everything about my stay was great except for the mattress that is a cheap spring mattress that was about as soft as plywood. Honestly the worst hotel mattress I’ve ever experienced.

We love that it's right next to the walking trail/bike path. You can see the ocean from the room; we had an upper room so were able to leave the sliding door open a bit to hear the ocean all night. Minor inconvenience: the refrigerator made a creaky sound when it turned on which lasted several minutes. I forgot to report that when we checked out. Also, the jetted tub is so high you have to use a step stool to get in. We didn't use the tub, but that's the only shower. We would have foregone the tub if we'd known. But a wonderful stay anyway. We'll be back.

It's a fine hotel. I think the carpet just got washed. The room smelled strongly of cleaning products, and the floor was slightly damp. Hopefully, that's not the norm. I had the lower level; there's very little noise barrier between levels, and I can hear everyone's footsteps. Otherwise, it's fine. Good location, plenty of parking with all the basic amenities you would expect.

Located right along the coast, our room had a beautiful view of the ocean. Biking and walking paths right outside the door. Room was a bit small and cramped because we had a jacuzzi tub. Having the tub (in between sinks and bed) seemed like a great idea but the room is so small, the tub was in the way, there was no privacy and it steamed the room up. Just awkward. Because it’s on the water, it’s pricier for what you get and there is no breakfast.

I love to stay here at Surf and Sand. The location is excellent, right on the walkway, unobstructed view of ocean and sunset. Balconies are the most comfortable viewing compared to 3 others I have stayed at near. Highly recommend, and a quick drive to anywhere in Fort Bragg.

Decent room, bathroom needs upgrading for sure, puny toilet with a lid that slams shut. I could hear the tenants above us all night long, so not very quiet. No breakfast snacks or anything. Nice that it looks out on the coastline with an unobstructed view, and you can walk out off the back through a sliding door, plus it was easy to find. Expected a little bit better experience for the money.

Staff gave away our room to another guest before we arrived. She was going to make the other guest change rooms and have housekeeping come back to clean it. We agreed to accept a different room without the upgrades, then she started saying we hadn’t paid for the upgrades anyway. She was initially apologetic then started making up stories. The rooms were beautiful and very close to the beach. The staff was unfriendly and unpleasant.

Overall, the hotel was not bad. It was a little on the older side, but the beds were comfortable. I was very disappointed when check in is listed as 3 pm and though we didn’t arrive until almost 4 pm the room was not ready. I am disabled and had left my house at 4 am so not being able to get into my room until shortly after 5 pm was very upsetting. The staff was friendly and offered a bike rental but I cannot ride a bike. Instead she gave us a $20 credit. The hotel is also close to a busy road and you could definitely hear the traffic. The room not being ready was the biggest issue.

We have loved this hotel since 2018 when we first stayed here. We keep coming back because it’s consistently excellent. Clean room, friendly staff, ocean view is beautiful. There is a perfect running path right outside the room patios. Only thing that would make it perfect is if they still offered fresh brewed coffee in the lobby—there is an in room Keurig though.

The hotel view was incredible, so beautiful. The hotel was extremely clean. Inside and outside, which made my stay even more meaningful and enjoyable. I was impressed by the excellent teamwork from housekeeping to administration. The front desk was at its best. Joe is incredible; the family above me was making so much noise I had to turn the television up to 50,, and that didn't reduce the noise. I called the office, and I spoke to Joe. He was apologetic and concerned and said that he would call upstairs; within minutes, all the noise from upstairs had stopped. I can't thank Joe enough for his help and for acting promptly. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. I will say that some of the furniture is dated, but well kept and clean.

I enjoyed Thanksgiving week in a jacuzzi king room! The water was hot and the jets were strong! Everything was wonderful - from the view and the sounds of the waves crashing to the friendly reception staff. I liked how easy it was to pop up and go for a walk along the paved coastal path. It was nice to relax in the red chairs on the balcony. I was delighted to see whales swimming past. I hope to get back to Surf & Sand Lodge soon.
I enjoyed Thanksgiving week in a jacuzzi king room! The water was hot and the jets were strong! Great location! It’s right on the haul road and has stunning views. The front office staff was very accommodating, letting us store a surfboard there! The hotel is very conscious about water usage and has low flow showers. You can rent bikes at the hotel next door. Wonderful place!

Surf and Sand Lodge was a great stay. It was right off the coast and you can see the ocean from the balcony. Short drive into town and overall good choice to book your stay for vacation.

We were pleasantly surprised with this property! Travelling for 4 weeks and booking all our lodging by looking at pictures and reviews can be nerve racking, but this place was a gem! Having to pick a different hotel the night before due to being in a terrible area, arriving here was a breath of fresh air! Perfect location to the beautiful walking trails behind the lodge meandering through beautiful wild flowers with the ocean crashing in the rocky coast in the background. A short walk to a nice beach and really cool bridge that was an old railroad bridge. Cute town with all the amenities needed. Will definitely keep this place on the list for a future trip!! The lady that checked us in was super sweet (name escapes me, I think Bridget??) and helpful with all the local attractions. Glass Beach is just down the road and is a must see!

Loved the location. Beach is right there. Beautiful view from second floor. Very good coffee. Has refrigerator and microwave. Bathroom sink is outside the bathroom, which some people might not like. But it is convenient to water to make coffee. Staff members very friendly. Will be back. Our favorite place to stay in Ft. Bragg.

We have loved this hotel since 2018 when we first stayed here. We keep coming back because it’s consistently excellent. Clean room, friendly staff, ocean view is beautiful. There is a perfect running path right outside the room patios. Only thing that would make it perfect is if they still offered fresh brewed coffee in the lobby—there is an in room Keurig though.

Located right along the coast, our room had a beautiful view of the ocean. Biking and walking paths right outside the door. Room was a bit small and cramped because we had a jacuzzi tub. Having the tub (in between sinks and bed) seemed like a great idea but the room is so small, the tub was in the way, there was no privacy and it steamed the room up. Just awkward. Because it’s on the water, it’s pricier for what you get and there is no breakfast.

Location is perfect! You can hear and see the beach. Quick access to the walking/ biking trail. Feels somewhat like a condo. Water pressure is low at the sink but the shower was fine. I’m assuming they all are conserving water in this area. Everything was clean. The only issue was coffee as you check. Either I didn’t see it with the cups etc or it wasn’t made. But coffee was in the room as per usual. Check in was easy and quick.
