I stayed at this Holiday Inn in New York City and was very disappointed to learn—after checking in—that the lower floors of the building are not hotel guest rooms but appear to be used for some kind of assisted or public housing. This means there are full-time residents sharing the elevators and common areas with hotel guests. For the price I paid (around $500 per night), I expected a standard hotel environment with proper guest security and restricted access to guest floors. Instead, anyone from the lower residential floors could freely access the hotel floors, which made us feel uneasy throughout our stay. Had I known this in advance, I never would have booked this property. This kind of information should absolutely be disclosed on the hotel’s listing so guests can make an informed decision before booking.

The staff was lovely and helpful. The area was disappointing. There were lots of homeless people and I did not really feel safe. The rooms were clean but decor was drab. They are renovating the outside so hopefully the inside will get a facelift as well.

Staff and accommodations are great, but after multiple visits I've noticed one of the two elevators are constantly out of service. Elevators are slow too-- management might consider closing for a period in quieter months just to fix or replace both elevators at some point.

There was scaffolding to the front of the property whilst we were there and this seemed to attract quite a few homeless people from the shelter on the other side of Delancey Street. It felt a little intimidating when entering and leaving the building. Otherwise we had a very enjoyable stay with good facilities and very friendly staff.

Secure building after 7 pm. Very quiet on my room on the fifth floor. Microwave and fridge, what more could you ask for! Excellent front desk staff and steps to the subway.

The place was good. It was convenient. Bathroom and beds were clean. The price was also very affordable. Free coffee and other refreshments in the lounge was great! Especially at this time of the year that we visited NYC. Overall, it was pleasant and great.

Staff were awesome! Very friendly, welcoming, and personable. I forget the gals name at the front desk, but she was wonderful especially! Room was way smarter than expected. Water pressure was absolutely garbage. That needs to be fixed asap. Definitely will not be stay here again bc of that reason. Did not have the breakfast. Air conditioning was good but the thermostat was glitchy. The room looked nice when we walked in the but door was so stuck together than I had to kick the door to get it open. The shower floor needs to be scrubbed better. It looked and felt dirty. More towels should be provided.

The rooms really need new carpet, they are filthy. I also had a puddle of dried urine around the toilet when I arrived in my room. This location is very convenient in my relation of where I need to be during my visit. But, it's very basic, and not "new and clean" like you'd hope for. The front desk staff is nice. I probably won't stay here again.

My room was sandwiched between 3 other doors and the amount of doors slamming at all hours of the night was annoying and disruptive especially when trying to rest. The room itself was nicely decorated but the bed was a bit uncomfortable, not the best. Windows were not sound proof so traffic noise was very loud.

Loved that our room/floor had just been renovated so the restroom and shower were really nice! The beds are a bit small (full) to fit 2 adults. The microwave and mini fridge were nice to have. Our view had a direct look at the Empire State Building which was nice to view lit up at night. There was a Dunkin, Baskin Robbins, McDonald's & Wingstop all on the same major road Delancey and 1-5 minute walks. Theres a subway entrance 1 block away and a bus stop 2 blocks away. DRAWBACKS: The area is a little sketchy however always had police presence which made it a tad more comfortable to walk around. Be very careful with street parking becasue they will ticket or even tow you.

Everything was mid, the shower curtain wasn’t long enough or the bar was too high so water kept spilling out onto the floor. It also would’ve been nice if the tv was smart. But it served its purpose for the quick trip.

Normal hotel and convenient location, very accommodating staff and good value. One thing was very strange tho, the drapes on the windows don’t close. Never seen this in a hotel before. Impossible to darken the room during daylight hours. Wasn’t broken or anything, just designed that way. Something to think about…

The staff let my sister get a room key without asking for an id, not even a name, she all she had to do was say that she lost the key to “her” room and they just gave her the key. That could of been some random person they let in my room and I’m extremely disappointed, I checkout the next morning and didn’t even stay there for the last day that I bought.

We stayed one night prior to cruise and found it to be comfortable and in an area where we could get to a store or restaurant very easily. The front desk personnel was very friendly at every encounter. They even held our luggage when we wanted to grab breakfast prior to departing for the port. It was a good experience.

My son lives in the East Village and I visit him several times a year. After trying spots all over the city, I found the HI and now it's my spot. Nothing bad to say. Easy access to wherever you want to go and a Target just a 5 minute walk away. No brainer for me!

The location of this hotel is really great and we liked the local vibe of the neighbourhood. Train station, Traders’ Joe and Essex foodmarket are very close. You are also very close to Brooklyn. We liked the water and coffee in the lobby and the staff is very friendly. The only negative thing I can think of are the small beds but we are very tall.

Me and my partner had a great stay in Holiday Inn Hotel. The room with the king bed had a decent size, it was clean and super quiet. The only complain is that the air in the room has a kind of musky scent ( there is a lot of moisture in the room) so the AC has to be on 24/7. The area is super convenient, close to train, restaurants and bars. Also in the evening there is a lot of homeless people around the area so always try to have someone next to you. Overall highly recommended!

So grateful that all our needs could be met with this stay. Friendly staff, able to hold our luggage right before arriving and after leaving, easy to use and clean facilities, an easily accessible location for dashing about the city. For a former NYC resident, I had a great time living in the LES for a week close to unique coffee shops and stores: an area of NYC that felt like a combination of no frills meets hip and exciting. Cities are constantly changing of course so I always keep this in mind and read reviews when planning.

We booked a premier king room with free breakfast. Our room was identical to some friends who were staying at the same hotel and yet they had a standard king. The staff didn’t seem to care about guest service - we asked about the free breakfast and were told breakfast was three items. Trouble was that at 9am there were only bagels and pastries left. No fruit. When I asked if they had any other food they just said No. the soda machine outside of our room had no sodas in it. Completely empty all 10 selections. would not recommend this hotel

We were very impressed with our stay here! Very close to the subway with a ton of coffee shops, bodegas, and restaurants. Essex Market is across the street with a variety of great dining options. We loved Unregular Pizza! We especially loved the pastries and coffee at Pause Cafe a few blocks down. Andres at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Our room was pristine with full-size bottles of Dove products for shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and hand soap. We will definitely be back and will continue to recommend this hotel!

Front desk employees are professional, friendly & helpful. Hotel was clean & tidy. My room was the same. The bed was firm which I prefer to a too soft bed. I ate breakfast & dinner at the new restaurant there, Cantina Sundown. Food & service was good. The only complaint I would have is about the breakfast. I ordered bacon with my eggs & they give you only one slice of bacon & the toast were the smallest pieces of toast I have ever seen. The pancakes I had one morning were fine. Overall I would say this is a good place to stay if you are planning on doing things in that part of NYC. I went to a venue called Berlin A which is a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Also went to the Tenement Museum which is a 5 minute walk.

Hotel is conveniently located near a subway station, and offers value rooms in lower east side of Manhatten. The hotel feels a bit dated, but the room and bed was comfortable, and staff polite, friendly and helpful. The restaurant had bizarre decoration and the food was poor standard - save your money and eat at one of the many great restaurants in NYC.

Just like your favorite Holiday Inn but with rooms downsized to NYC proportions. Our room had been renovated recently; don't know about the other rooms. The staff was welcoming and helpful, the Wi-Fi was speedy, and cable TV had a boatload of channels but few local nonprofit community channels. Full-service Burger King directly across the street is open early for breakfast. The hotel's continental breakfast was spare, with only a few items and a toaster.
