Cool vibe. Great location. Convenient to the Tate Modern, Globe Theatre, Borough Market, Blackfriars and Millenium Bridges and the Queen's Walk along the South Bank. Elevator was a bit of a joke, took an age and would be really inconvenient if on a high floor. Fortunately, we were only two stories above the lobby.

Unfortunately, the hotel was down to one working elevator when I first arrived. Within the 4 days of my stay, the only working elevator also went out of service which meant taking the stairs 5 flights of stairs a couple of times a day. Very inconvenient and difficult after walking all day sightseeing in London. Hopefully, both elevators is up and running safely very soon. Fortunately, the hotel staff were kind and helpful during my entire stay. Shout out to Shani at the front desk for being so kind and helpful. Another staff member named Shaniah was also helpful and polite. Overall, I had a pleasant stay minus the inconvenience of no working elevators for the majority of my 4-day stay. I would still recommend this hotel because of it’s location, well-equipped room, nice lobby, and helpful staff.

Perfect place to stay to explore London. Close to borough market and walking distance to the underground. The bar there was great and we would always end our night with a drink there before heading up to the room!

Property was great, staff very helpful. Left our previously booked accommodation to come here, shared a king size bed with my cousin and was still a massive upgrade. Facilities clean, aircon room, great technology and amenities. Only downsides were aircon on lowest temp and highest speed didn’t really cool down the room enough, and unfortunately the elevator broke on our last day which is not the property’s fault, but we did have to drag our luggage down 5 flights of stairs.

Easy check-in and check-out. Great breakfast and service. Fun to be able to choose the room yourself. A bit disappointing that one of the elevators was out of order — lots of waiting for the lift. But overall, a good experience.

Communal areas and rooms full of tech and visually stimulating. The staff were friendly and there was always someone around to answer any questions you had. It was on the whole clean, some of the displays were dusty and there was a long hair in the bathroom that wasn’t one ours.. The room was a great size and layout if your a solo traveller but a bit small for a couple. The air conditioner in the room we had wasn’t working properly which made the room uncomfortably hot, as they were fully booked they couldn’t move us and offered us a fan. One of the two elevators wasn’t working so there was often a wait for it and it would stop at every floor. The rooms are very similar to a Premier Inn Hub room but a lot more expensive, the food was also similar to what you would get at a Premier Inn or Travelodge which didn’t really fit with the look and feel of the hotel itself but it was hot and eatable. The Tech which controls everything in the room in the room and the little livery (4 books) made the room feel special (unlike the bed which was comfortable but was walled in on 3 sides, the vibrant displays in the reception, bar, dinning area and atrium were interesting and great to look through.

Loved our stay at this hotel SO much, this will definitely be our go-to if we're able to travel to London again if not for its prime location alone. The room itself is smaller than normal but there is plenty of storage space. Free Wifi was convenient for us being from the US plus all the lights, window shades electronics were programmed to an iPad. Shower water pressure were divine, plus room came with mini fridge and small safe which didn't seem like common amenities when initially looking at hotels. Check-In/Check-out was super easy via self-service screen and we were able to utilize luggage storage prior to checking in and after checking out. Best parts of this hotel: THE LOCATION - extremely walkable to major tube lines and so close to Borough Market. Other best part is the lobby/lounge/bar area where there are plenty of tables to hang out and where food and drink are available 24/7. Don't miss out on the food and dessert here, it's cooked to order and is AMAZING! I'm still thinking about the Chicken Tikka Masala and sticky toffee pudding we ordered here. Overall staff was so nice and friendly and the accommodations really made an impression on me, I will definitely make it a point to look for CitizenM hotels in my trips moving forward!

It was meh and the layout of the room is a bit weird. to add, the sink was really smelly and my ac was not working which took two days for the hotel to fix. They had “fixed” it the same day however the cold air started to come on the second day. Also the bed had hair on and it the sheets did smell a little. Also very little ventilation in the room, so I had to order a fan. It was ok for once but I would not stay here again

The first bed room i checked into was dusty and the phone didn’t work and the iPad connection to the tv didn’t work but when I went to complain they gave me a new room that everything was fixed and it was amazing and good views and comfortable bed and lovely staff and lovely views

Our room was not cleaned properly and there were hair all over (our own) which were not removed. Rooms are high tech and we liked that part a lot. Bed was comfy but only one way to get out of it because other 3 sides were next to the walls, which you don’t expect at this price.

I really liked the single ipad to control everything, the lighting and overall general concept. Unfortunately, my shower had mold all around the top, the room was much smaller than expected with very little storage with some of the controls being pretty confusing to where I never figured it out (thermostat). I also requested for the room not to be cleaned the night before and they cleaned it anyways. The breakfast was mediocre for the price.

“A Shadow and a Stench Have Fallen Upon This Place” Four nights at CitizenM Bankside. Three rooms. And from the moment we crossed the threshold, it was as if we had entered Mordor by way of a train station loo. Both rooms carried the same unwelcome signature: the persistent odor of toilet brush holders clearly on a long, unbroken tenure. The climate control, set with hope at 20°C (68) refused to yield anything below 28°C (82). The air was heavy, unmoving — more Mount Doom than London in August. A fan was promised but, like the return of the King, never came. We were offered a room change, but the new room bore the same scent and heat, as if cursed. The iPad “controls” were little more than props in this drama, serving the role of magical talismans that, sadly, held no actual power. At checkout, they offered one free night — a gesture that seemed almost rehearsed, perhaps given often to travelers who endure the same fate. Later, when I requested a full refund, they declined, narrowing the whole affair to “an AC issue on the last night” while politely ignoring the matter of the smell. This place is marketed as 4-star, yet I can find no evidence of official accreditation from the AA or VisitEngland. I’ve reported the matter to both, and to Google, for review. If you seek a night’s rest, look elsewhere. But if you wish to undertake an endurance trial worthy of the Fellowship — complete with heat, odor, and empty promises — then by all means, CitizenM Bankside awaits.

Our room was not cleaned. We left the room at 1pm and asked for the room to be cleaned. The toilet was also blocked so asked for that to be unblocked which it was but then was not cleaned afterwards. And neither was the room.

The room was not what we expected based on thee photos. Now having been there we understand the photos. The room is like a "pod" or a studio. There is little privacy in the room as the shower/toilet are in the bedroom separated by a translucent wall. It is very small and the bed is unusual, taking up about a third of the room, you have to crawl over you partner to reach the far side, and it is not very comfortable. Although the hotel advertises air conditioning it did not work well, if at all. We discussed this with the staff who offered to set the temperature for us but this did not help. They then sent a fan to help cool the room. It was hot throughout our stay which made it uncomfortable. We talked with other guests about the heat and they had the same issues. We did not switch hotels as there is a no refund policy.

Well, I’m not quite sure how to rate this hotel. The other reviews are correct- the temperature in the rooms is exceptionally hot. They gave us a fan for our second night and that helped, but you’d think that after many reviewers comment on the temperature, that they would try to fix this issue. The rooms are also quite bizarre (again mentioned in many other reviews). The bed takes up a third of the room and one person needs to climb over the other to get out of bed. The shower and toilet are located together and enclosed in frosted glass and not conducive to privacy. The sink is in the main bedroom area. The room feels more like a space shuttle pod than a hotel room, but we enjoyed our stay. The place is quirky for sure. The location is fantastic.

The location was convenient and the room itself was quiet, however, the room itself was so small. We barely had room to put a suitcase on the floor and to walk around it. Also, the bathroom is super small! You have to go over the other person to get in and out of the bed if there’s two of you.

Giant comfortable bed, very modern controls for the lighting, temperature, tv, etc. Frosted glass walls around the shower and toilet don't allow for much privacy, but overall a very nice modern, sleek hotel!

Wonderful place to stay everyone went out of their way to help as I was there by myself but I had an amazing time. The staff is friendly and kind. And the place is immaculate. Thanks for taking care of me while I was all the way in London.

2 staff at reception, but I was directed (fairly curtly) to a screen to check myself in. Not a good first impression. Room was tiny and lacked complimentary tea, coffee or bottled water - which seems a little mean when you're paying £234 - breakfast was offered for a further 50. If you wanted tea or coffee you could go downstairs and pay. The room was clean but miniscule. The 'bathroom' is a small pod inside the bedroom. Good comfortable bed. Techy iPad control system for everything which worked fairly well - except for the radio feed. Overall not great value.

CitizenM is long on attitude but doesn’t always live up to the veneer. This property suffered a total breakdown in video service for my first day (about which the front desk was a bit clueless) and had one of two lifts out of service, which made waiting times often quite long. A request for a one-hour late checkout was met by the demand for additional payment (I declined). It’s slick and techie but felt lacking in genuine service and quality.

The receptionist was not welcoming or friendly at all. We felt like an inconvenience to her. The rooms are tiny, with no tea/coffee making facilities. You cannot just turn on one light, to visit the bathroom during the night, they all come on. We have stayed in a number of CitizenM hotels and this is by far the worst. Overpriced and not value for money.

Ok I’ll be honest , the bar staff need to be on the ball they are nice enough but not quick enough the training needs stepping up it’s inadequate to say the least , first cocktail dropped second made with vodka instead of gin , not good enough 35 mins waiting for drinks and they were not rushed off their feet , it’s all down to the manager and it’s seriously lacking on the bar front , apart from that a very pleasant stay indeed , thank you

Great location in the Bankside area. Usual CitizenM vibe and quality. Just south of the Thames near the Tate Modern. Very convenient to the area around St Paul. Multiple underground options. Close to Borough Market area dining.

Touchless check-in led to a "we don't clean your room by default; if you want it serviced, you must tell us." Room size is outrageous for a couple of tall people... It is also a good 10-mins walk from the nearest tube.

Two quick nights in London. We found this location of citizenM to be perfect. Very walkable to the Tate and Borough Market. Very friendly staff. The room was small, but we knew that going in. Reasonable rate and comfortable bed (and pillows). We really enjoyed The Table Cafe just four minutes away.

Service was mixed - front desk was pretty good, although unclear who was helping at any given time. Breakfast was the worst food we have ever tasted and the kitchen staff unfriendly when asking a straightforward question

Citizen M is always a great choice whether for family or solo travel. It's clean, well proced, well locayted, modern. Overall, we had an excellent stay. Breakfast options could be better for the price.

Perfect location with public transport links. Breakfast was very expensive especially as you have an m&s across the road with a fresh bakery. Main room was very clean and the bed and pillows were very comfy. The tablet was a nice gadget to control your room but the tv volume fluctuated and could hardly hear it at points and you also couldn’t connect our device to the tv. The down side of the shower was the build up of limescale on the waterfall head. Would stay there again due to a perfect location. But lots of little things let it down

Breakfast is quite expensive but I gave it a try on my last day here after reading the reviews. Good selection of fresh fruit, but otherwise ordinary (good quality though). Wish there are more international tastes rather than British ‘classics’. The calorie cards are helpful. Breakfast comes with hot drinks until 11 am. No wonder people are sitting in the lobby rather than their rooms lol. As for the hotel: Friendly welcoming staff. Modern compact room with thoughtful functional design and communal areas with many useful things that might may or may not be needed during the stay. And the AirPlay is pretty cool. Beautiful courtyard, though privacy may be an issue. Hope the curtain helps. The price is alright for London and the facility is more than enough for a short stay.

Loved our stay at this hotel SO much, this will definitely be our go-to if we're able to travel to London again if not for its prime location alone. The room itself is smaller than normal but there is plenty of storage space. Free Wifi was convenient for us being from the US plus all the lights, window shades electronics were programmed to an iPad. Shower water pressure were divine, plus room came with mini fridge and small safe which didn't seem like common amenities when initially looking at hotels. Check-In/Check-out was super easy via self-service screen and we were able to utilize luggage storage prior to checking in and after checking out. Best parts of this hotel: THE LOCATION - extremely walkable to major tube lines and so close to Borough Market. Other best part is the lobby/lounge/bar area where there are plenty of tables to hang out and where food and drink are available 24/7. Don't miss out on the food and dessert here, it's cooked to order and is AMAZING! I'm still thinking about the Chicken Tikka Masala and sticky toffee pudding we ordered here. Overall staff was so nice and friendly and the accommodations really made an impression on me, I will definitely make it a point to look for CitizenM hotels in my trips moving forward!

It was our first time in London and this was a good hotel choice because of the cleanliness and amenities. Upon check in we were able to chose our floor height and room view. Close to Borough Market and London Bridge. Our room was cosy, with a very comfortable king sized bed. Breakfast was excellent with a lot of healthy choices and americanos/cappuccinos included. Although we weren’t in the heart of London, we found most of the sites we wanted to visit were walkable.

This is a wonderful hotel in the great location and fabulous staff – but big word of warning do not be conned into paying extra for a High room. We did exactly this and were told that anything above the second floor was High! Lesson learned
