Lamothe House Hotel a French Quarter Guest Houses Property

This is a great location righ the edge of the French quarter, however although we were generally satisfied there are a few things that are noted in the information we found. There is no elevator, so if have trouble with this not the place for you. They have a nice pool however they don't provide extra towels, the and sink drains were very slow. I spite of that we would probably stay there again because of the location.

Loved the private courtyard area. Very safe and secure. Staff were super attentative. They only thing i was disappointed about was the jacuzzi tub was not hot it was only warm. I would totally come back when a little warmer to appreciate the pool and jacuzzi

Lamothe is close to ALL the action: Frenchmen, French Market, Bourbon st, canal for public transportation. The pool is open all night for an even dip. And the staff is wonderful! Nothing is too much trouble for them.

Wonderful for its ‘just off Frenchman Street’ location and the staff are super nice. Plus pool and hot tub!

Location, location... Amazing place -if you are up to charming, old, southern properties. Parking is available ($30/night) in nearby secure location. Would come again gladly

Perfect location between Frenchman St and the Quarter. Old-school charm with a lovely courtyard. Feeling of being in transition, front desk not well staffed, jacuzzi broken for entire stay, no fridge or microwave.

Overall this was absolutely annoying experience. We wanted to love this hotel but the pool was filthy upon arrival. Looked like a swamp then it was closed the next two days of our stay. Fire alarms were going off at 7am!!! and then they out the day on our last day. Crew was very little help. NO ELEVATOR! and we were on the 3rd floor. AC was very low. You will sweat at night. I called Expedia for compensation as it was in the high 90’s the whole time we were there and the main reason we chose the hotel was for the pool. Coffee maker was terrible and not clean enough. Under the bed I found a Bobby pin and under a tv a piece of gum. We will never return. This is a hostel at best! No fridge, microwave, very noisy at night.

Big room. Great bed. Good pool. No complaints. Woukd stay again. Private parking No resort fee.

We stayed for a week at Lamothe for Halloween festivities, 2023. The checkin process was effortless, despite some logistics challenges with the ground floor salon hardwoods being refinished. The grounds are lovely, with a beautiful courtyard, and small pool and hot tub between the main building and the rear building where our room was. We took advantage of the hot tub and pool a few times, and the water was always clean and clear. The king-bed room where we stayed was nicely appointed with a comfortable bed, a great AC and heat unit (we used both), and room for our luggage. It was quiet and dark and we had no issues with noise from either the street or the hotel. The room only had external windows on the door which were covered with blackout curtains. This might make some people feel claustrophobic but to us it felt cozy. To our delight, we were steps away from our favorite club on Frenchmen Street and within a half mile of drugstores, restaurants, and the craziness of Bourbon Street. Suggestions for room improvement would be to include a mini-fridge and a desk. Suggestions for hotel improvement might include offering a king bed room with a kitchenette. Otherwise, we loved the property and will seriously consider it for future visits due to amenities and location.

Absolutely loved this historic guesthouse. The rooms are along the perimeter of an enclosed courtyard area with a pool in the center. The room was on the smaller side but very comfortable with ice cold AC and a ceiling fan. The location couldn't have been more convenient in terms of walkability, while still being away "enough" for the hustle and bustle of some of the busier streets in the French Quarter. They offer a private parking lot for $40/night but we were able to find free street parking in the area without a problem. Definitely staying here again!

We had asked the front desk from day one for towels to block the 1 inch gap under the door as bugs were coming in and we didn't want to be extra and ask for a new room. We were told that due to the rainy day, the hotel was out of extra towels and was promised more but never got them. We ended up using one of our own face towels and one of the towels provided by the hotel upon our arrival to block the gap. The hotel accidentally took our face towel when they came to clean up the next day, but we still heard nothing about the solution for the gap. We found a dead millipede in our bathroom the one day the new hotel towels were placed on the bed and not the bathroom. It was an overall confusing experience that left us wishing the hotel had been more clear on the room layout and location.

Hotel was in a very convenient location-super close to the French quarter and Frenchman’s street. Plenty of walkable bars, restaurants and shops. The pool is really nice -perfect temperature and plenty of shade as well. The hotel itself is a 2 star property; could definitely use some deep cleaning and it would have been nice to have a patio or balcony-or even windows that open. But for the price it’s a good deal.

Hardwood floors were so clean, you could walk on them with bare feet. Furniture marched the time period of historic building and they all passed the dust check. Day and night staff were very welcoming. A little noisy on the first floor but nothing a sound machine wouldn’t drown out! Clean pool and peaceful courtyard area.

Lamothe House is located in a historic building with a super quaint courtyard style. Overall, if you've stayed at a Motel 6 and can handle it, you can handle this. Everything feels clean, but visually, it doesn’t quite match up, so mentally prepare for that. For the price and location, it can’t be beat. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely return and stay here again. I don't recommend this for tall people, as the sink counter is right across from the toilet, and their knees might hit it. Overall, if you can look past the visuals and the occasional smell (I’m going to give the hotel the benefit of the doubt and blame it on the humidity), you should definitely book this place!

We stayed two weeks ago and came back for more this past week end! We stayed in a suite this time and last time were in the back on the first floor. Obviously, we were very impressed with this establishment! The gentleman at the desk both stays was very nice and extremely helpful. The bathrooms must have been recently remodeled, they were beautiful...all floors you could eat off of, immaculate.You couldn't beat their parking arrangement. You could tell the employ loved the place, it was well taken care of. A lovely establishment both Me and my wife would highly recommend!

Check in was good, nice staff. The building itself had old world charm. However, the room cleanliness was horrible with hairballs and white stuff on the floors. The shower looked as if there was black mold growing and the entire building smelled musty, which I guess may be because the building is old?

Absolutely perfect hotel. So clean and comfortable. Beautiful space very well maintained. Classic old New Orleans feel. The bed was super comfortable. The room felt very private and the climate control was perfect. This hotel seems to be in a great location very walkable to everything in the Quarter, yet still easy to navigate via Uber. Very nice pool. Comfortable temperature, clean, with a very nice hot tub.

For the price it exceeded my expectations. The staff are extremely nice and helpful. The room is large with great AC and nice bathroom. The rooms look better in person which is rare to say for hotels. Definitely will stay again next time in NOLA.

Good location! The property is outdated, I get the old vibe and it’s nice, but they should add practical appliances like microwave and mini fridge to the rooms. And the air conditioning should be fixed or changed for a bigger unit because the it does not cool enough, especially like the big room we stayed in.

It was so much fun seeing the beautiful architecture and furniture in the room and the hotel. Super fun experience! From a practical perspective it was a bit uncomfortable trying to walk around on the wood floors that made noise, I felt like I was being obnoxious to any downstairs neighbors no matter how much I tried to tip toe. Also be advised if you have a lot of luggage there is no luggage elevator and the stairs, as cool as they are, are very steep and irregularly shaped so dragging heavy luggage up and down to the third floor was a challenge.

We loved the location and vibe of Lamothe! The hotel is an easy walk to the main tourist attractions but is on a quieter street. The pool was a nice addition, too. However, we were disappointed in our room. Unlike the photos shown on the hotel website and booking sites, our room was not in the main hotel building. They've added a building in the back of the property for extra rooms which unfortunately had no windows, chairs, or coffee table. The lack of windows was claustrophobic. We would stay here again, but would make sure to get a room in the main building!

First things first, this is New Orleans. There's no other place on earth like it (good and bad!), so adjusting expectations accordingly is key to enjoying a stay in a historic building like the Lamothe House. It's not a hotel as much as it is a guest house. Services are limited and staffing is minimal. Rooms appear to all be different so what you see in photos may not be what you get. Originally given rm 214 above lobby w/ balcony over Esplanade st but had to move nextdoor to rm 213 b/c the a/c wasn’t working and it was approaching 80F outside. PROS- located in a quiet neighborhood walking distance to Frenchman St & the French Quarter. Historic vibes. Clean rooms & comfortable bedding. Secure, gated & reasonably priced parking located just off the back of the property. Nice Pool with hot tub in courtyard though we didn’t use either, grand suites have large wood doors separating seating area from bedrooms for privacy. CONS- Balcony doors were loosely closed and did not have proper locks, 214 had an unsafe soft spot in balcony floor, cup of used cigarettes and a rusty razor blade laying about & the lights shine brightly into the windows of 213 all night. lack of extra sheets and the pull-out couches were not setup to be converted to beds. Rm 214 had a small tv while rm 213 had 2 large TVs. Narrow winding stairs, uneven floors and raised lips in the floor for the sliding partitions create trip hazards and make it unsafe for those unsteady on their feet. No fridges.

The room was huge and had a huge bathroom and shower. On a hot August day, the room was cool. Though we were only a block away from some of the best music venues in the city, the room was very quiet. The bed was large and comfortable. I will stay here again because it was such a lovely place.

Location was OK if you can walk because nothing is close by. Quiet neighborhood. I felt safe. Room did not have any common amenities, i.e. safe, fridge. My room had very bad water pressure and the hot water took over five minutes to come. It was quaint, a New Orleans experience vs a standard chain hotel.

I was in the rear quarters where there was obvious construction going on. I was difficult to move luggage from the front property to the rear property. The room had no hangers, no toilet paper holder, (which i found out the fist time I used the bathroom and realized the new roll of toilet paper was across the room under the sink, and ultimately, the reason I left is because I could not get any Wi-Fi signal and was unable to connect while i was there. Hence my early check-out. I have not yet been refunded the $100 deposit I was charged when I checked in. Having said all that, the staff was lovely.

Overall the hotel is in great condition. The rooms are nice, the courtyard and pool are gorgeous, and it's a terrific deal. Downsides? In the carriage rooms in the back (where I stayed) the walls are thinner than the brick walls of the main house. You can easily hear people talking through your walls. I was also right next to the back gate, which you can enter and exit using your room key, and it slams so hard it woke me up during the night more than once. It's a minor quibble, but you might want to ask them for a "quiet" room when you book.

The property was well maintained, the staff was polite, the bed was very comfortable and we were in walking distance to everything fun in the French Quarter. My only complaint was the back property entrance-exit door which was slamming at all hours of the night. I asked if we could be moved, however we were told that the property was sold out for the weekend and we could not be accommodated. I recommend this place as long as you’re not staying in the back of the property as you will be woken all night if that door issue isn’t resolved.

The Good: easy check-in/out, friendly and helpful staff. King room was very clean, and spacious for a single traveler. Wi-Fi worked fine, bed was comfortable, though the pillows didn't offer much support. Areas for Improvement: there was no safe in the room. This is pretty standard at even budget hotels. There was also no functional deadbolt on the door. The door had a bolt, but it was covered, rendering it non functional. The door instead was limited to a security latch (the kind that have basically replaced chain latches), and one side of the door could be bolted into the door frame. Maybe that's enough, but particularly with doors that face directly outside, the lack of a deadbolt was curious. I should note though, that by facing "outside," I mean into a courtyard/alley which requires key access - your room door is not directly open to the street. Water pressure in the shower was pretty poor. Washing and rinsing hair really took some extra time because of this. The sink was clogged with a very slow drain. Generally the room was quiet but less so on weekends, given the proximity to Frenchmen. Some noise spills over from there into the wee hours, as well as loud folks walking the streets after a night of partying. My room was also an adjoining room. Though my neighbors weren't unusually loud, a good bit of noise through the shared door. I would stay here again, but it would not be one of my first choices. But in cases where the price is unbeatable, maybe.

We had a little hiccup with our initial room but was quickly transferred to a suite at no up charge by the professional and wonderful front desk staff. It’s a historic property so there were a few very minor things that are expected at such a property and they were not problematic issues at all in our second room. Then my flight got cancelled by the airline and I needed to stay another day. Carol is incredible, understanding, and made it possible for us to stay in our same suite. She even came to our room to give us updated keys instead of having me go to the front desk when I was dealing with rebooking my cancelled flight. Highly recommend. The proximity to Esplanade area and Frenchmen Street can’t be beat. The suite was large and comfortable. I will stay at this hotel again on my next trip. The marigny location is so much more enjoyable to me than the French quarter but it’s right by the quarter when I want or need to be there. Best of both worlds. This is a great hotel and I’m glad I found it! If you like a less touristy experience and being immersed in a lovely, quiet area that’s close enough to everything, this is that hotel. I can’t recommend it enough!

The state of the property is one of faded glory; it is a nice historical property but it is in a rather run down, decaying state; this is due to the overall condition of the property but also to the attitude of the staff; the staff [including the manager] has a rather lackadaisical, 'whatever' attitude; they seem to regard customers as a nuisance. Although we were excited to stay in a historical place, the state of the property and the attitude of the staff did not make this a pleasant stay! Next time we will be more careful to see through the veneer of a nice appearance that hotels put up online. Look for other options.

Hard to find they charged $40 a day for parking. We were not aware of that when we booked. No backup generator. We woke up to a hot room and spent the morning in the dark. We then decided to go home a day early. We asked for a refund but they said no.

The main building of Lamothe House is a 225y.o. house, with ornate moulding, wood floors, and winding staircases. They offer an "authentic experience." We definitely had some authentic experiences, which we took in stride. Our first room experienced a flood from the room above. In the second room, the climate control pooped out. The third room, however was great. The staff was awsome, and the manager promised to refund a night and adjust our rate for the smaller room we ended up in.

Andrew and Greg the front desk managers were so accomodating and a sheer pleasure to meet & greet! Their friendly manner and warm personalities helped to make our stay exceptional. The hotel is also within walking distance to the French Market and Cafe Du Monde which we enjoyed. Will surely stay again on our next visit, Thanks again guys You're the BEST!

We had the most amazing stay at this incredible hotel. We chose it for its authentic historic southern charm and location and regarding both of these this hotel went above and beyond. But more than that or shall I say the icing on the cake was how incredibly hospitable, friendly and helpful the staff was. We had a little issue and needed a room change and they immediately accommodated us without any fuss- we simply had to ask. But we especially enjoyed day to day good mornings, banter, and informational conversations regarding the history of the hotel/area from both amazing front desk agents Ms. Carol & Kellen! And I’m sad I didn’t get to say goodbye but enjoyed my poolside visits with Ms. Pam. The stay and staff are exceptional. Oh and the popcorn is the best I’ve ever had!!! We will definitely stay here again!

We added a night through hotels.com, and after the first night I got a call accusing us of failing to vacate our room on time when we were in fact staying for another 4 nights, and had confirmed twice verbally with another staff member that we would have no issue. The person apologized but this was not a great way to start our trip, minutes before starting a pre-planned tour. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, but the climate control didn't work great and we found ourselves getting overly warm at night. Also difficult was that there was no fridge in the room, which was a drag, as it meant we had no place to put leftovers after a meal or to store beverages, snacks, etc. if we wanted to come back to the room during a break between activities. The listing on Hotels.com says there is a shared fridge and a shared microwave; this is not true. There was only one small chair and no desk, so again, not really inviting if you needed to kill 45 minutes to an hour before dinner, for example. The lack of guest laundry facilities was also a challenge.

Housekeeping was not up to date. They did not come how often they supposed to but what made me stay my whole 6 days was the workers Bailey and Andrew. They both have went above and beyond to make sure my sisters and I was comfortable. Any problems we had they helped us with, they gave us a great list of restaurants to try while we was there. Overall just great people and workers who deserve a raise.

An absolutely lovely hotel. The room was very spacious and air conditioned. The staff went above and beyond expectations with their helpfulness - we cannot thank Palestine Riles enough! We would recommend this hotel to everyone - it is situated in the French district and very close to Frenchmen Street where we enjoyed many music sessions and lovely food. Thank you for everything!

The staff is absolutely AMAZING! We just happened to find this hotel on Expedia and thought it looks so cute we had to try it. We booked for one night. We arrived late afternoon and by the time we got our luggage into our room we were ready to book an extra night. We extended our New Orleans vacation because of how wonderful the staff was and how easy they made everything for us. The day staff was training a new guy and even he was super nice and friendly. He gave me advice on where to go for my birthday the next day. I came back to wisconsin telling everyone I know what an amazing time we had at Lamothe House and how we can’t wait to go back again next year. Just for the hotel and staff. Shout out to the amazing concierge man too! He was the friendliest and most helpful person ever! The staff there has made us want to return yearly! We were also secretly celebrating our engagement the day before and plan to stay there when we come back down to the gulf to be married next year!!!

First night we were there the street had a power outage for three hours. The temperature was 86 and humid and we had to deal with the heat until the power came back on. Didn't hear anything from the hotel about how we were managing or that the power was out. Had to here from a guy on the street. Overall experience besides that and a hiccup at checkup was great and very friendly

Loved our stay at the historic Lamothe House! Remember, it is an old, historic building. We stayed in a courtyard room. It was comfy, enough room, and right out to the pool (which was wonderful in the heat). Staff were friendly and helpful, nice area to walk to a lot of places but out of the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street. Beautiful courtyard.

If we go back to New Orleans, we wouldn't stay anywhere else! It's a 5-minute walk to Frenchman St so when you finish your nighttime revelry, you're back to the hotel in moments. And yet it's very peaceful and quiet during the evenings, great for recharging the batteries. Just Keurig coffee is offered, which is fine in a town where you want to eat out breakfast, lunch and dinner! The property itself is a historical home, so if you're look for a sterile environment, stay at the Hilton. This place has character and some of the facilities are a little worse for the wear, but everything is clean and the staff was extremely friendly. The pool and courtyard were a welcome refuge from the heat of the day and we typically had it all to ourselves. Thanks to the Lamothe House for a wonderful stay!

Room service did not take orders so why bother to advertise. Location was good a little further than I expected from the crowds of Bourbon Street.

The property pictures look nicer than when you show up to the entrance. It was a great stay as far as comfortable bed and room. Shower and bathroom were nice. Rooms are intimate sized. Would have liked atleast a microwave on the property. Conveniently located next to businesses. For Mardi Gras this place was quiet.

It was fun place, but our room across street didn't have any windows except super high above the door, so felt a little weird. Gorgeous inside and nicely renovated bathroom and comfy bed. Parking was ok lot with gate. The website on Hotel.com said it had breakfast but it did not. Pool was warm but we didn't go in.

3rd time here. Only minus is they decided to remove refrigerators from rooms except suites. A bizarre decision. Best part,no kids. Relaxing oasis.

We loved staying at the Lamothe House! It was walking distance to restaurants, bars, music and activities. It has New Orleans old world charm with amenities like a safe in the room, coffee maker, hair dyer, iron and ironing board. It would have been nice to have a small refrigerator and a microwave. What would have been really nice would be an elevator or someone to help carry our luggage to our second floor room. The broken toilet paper holder could have been replaced in five minutes after a trip to the store. Still, we highly recommend the Lamothe House and plan on staying there on our next trip!
