Staff were really helpful and sweet. Loved the ability to use phone app to order room service and ask about any issues/book swimming pool. The pool was very busy during one session but quieter in the next and everything was very clean. Would be great to add in a swim suit dryer to the changing rooms as we came back the next day but my suit was stil wet! Overall really lovely place for families, not far from Waterloo. Pool and inclusive breakfast were a hit for kids :)

The hotel exceeded my expectations. Staff were extremely welcoming. I was greeted by Alberto on my arrival and he was just so friendly and helpful, and also seemed highly competent. The room was spacious and clean, and I appreciated the complimentary mineral water. Gym was well equipped, and the pool was nice too if slightly cold for my taste. Breakfast was also quite good. Location was convenient an room surprisingly quiet. I thought overall that it was great value and would return.

Fantastic stay and friendly front of house staff! Rooms were a little dusty and marked in the bathroom on the walls, sink was also badly water marked. Given a city view room as we were celebrating anniversary - room was decorated for us for a fee.

The mould in the bathtub and poor general cleanliness was the main downside of this hotel. Carpet had been poorly hoovered (if at all) and all fixtured heavy wear & tear. Large stains on the carpet floor. Reception staff friendly, decent bar attached. Nice breakfast with a wide range available. The swimming pool and sauna was great, limiting the number of people in the pool by pre-booking was appreciated to keep the medium-sized pool from being overcrowded

Things I liked: close to the underground. Great coffee shop across the street. Quiet block. Spacious rooms. Sauna and weight room. Water, tea, and snacks in room. Things I didn’t care for: terrible pillows. Staff were hard to find and some of them were friendly but some seemed annoyed I was even there. This was more than your general lack of customer service you might find in the uk. Also, the walls look as if they’re rarely cleaned. Not my favorite hotel, but it was convenient and generally good enough.

Front desk was lovely. Easy check in, even though we arrive early they gave us one of the rooms to put our luggage. The gentleman was friendly and vey courteous. House keeping was a different story, actually one of the days our room was not cleaned at all. We made our own bed...

Perfectly comfortable hotel. Walking distance to many of the sights along southbank. Large, quiet room. We couldn't work out how to change between the shower heads but it was all very comfortable, functional and we had a good stay. It was annoying that southwark tube station was shut this weekend as we chose the hotel due to proximity to a tube station on the jubilee line as were going to an event at the O2. Some warning of this would have been good in the many pre arrival emails But otherwise it fit the bill well

We had two rooms with a linking door in the hallway that was cool. They provided complimentary cookies and water in the room. My only complaint is that the shower/room wall can be frosted or clear which can be seen in the room. Totally not appropriate with kids (although they thought it was funny). Also, the bathroom light shines through the glass which is annoying for the sleeper.

Finding a family room with two tall teens is getting tricky but we had enough space here and the single beds were comfy and big enough. Bottled water, real milk, tea, coffee and biscuits in the room was all a great bonus. As was the decent wifi! The bathroom was a little odd since it is separated from the room by a mostly opaque wall but we managed!

We didn't have the greatest stay at this hotel. It's clean, looks nice, good location. But the processes of booking a pool time, and using an app for everything was annoying. It's nice to have the option but it was basically mandatory. We hadn't eaten so we decided to get room service. Used the app and waited. After about an hour of refreshing an app that just said our order was "pending". I called the front desk to ask about our order. We discover they somehow didn't see it and said it would be up to our room soon. After 1 hour and 45 minutes we finally got our food. We got a small "sorry". Food was good the first night but the breakfast was chaos. That's the only word i can use for it. So many people and the space isn't quite big enough. Things weren't being refilled very fast, we went up a few times to find trays empty. It tasted good but we honestly couldn't wait to get out of there. To much stuff scattered across a small room with way too many people. There was even a notice by the elevator that the breakfast is busy and recommending to order room service instead, which obviously is in our experience unreliable. Now heres the final bad experience. On our last night just as we were about to sleep the fire alarm sounds. We quickly get out and discover there was actually a small fire. We were allowed back in after 2 hours or so outside. Not hotels fault, but there weren't enough emergency blankets and little instruction. Scary and they were ill prepared.

I have never stayed in the Southwark area of London before but was pleasantly surprised to learn that a very quiet and well connected station was only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. The breakfast was really excellent and better than any of the same standard of hotel I have been in. The room was clean with plenty of space and there was never any delay in getting the lift. It was also a nice surprise to have a good sauna and swimming pool in the basement of the hotel Finally, Giuseppe, 1 of the managers went out of his way to forward on an important envelope that was supposed to have arrived for a meeting in London on the 1st day of my stay but did not arrive until several days after I left. As this was not what would normally happen he went above and beyond the call of duty to look after someone who was not even any more a guest. Exceptional customer service.

Check in was a bit chaotic as no record that I had paid, so was asked to pay again..but luckily the young lady intervened and problems were resolved, other guests were offered complimentary drinks, yet even though check in took so long we were not, in the morning we had a bill pushed through our door for restaurant that we hadn’t paid for this transpired that this was for laundry for the previous guest, other than these the rooms were pleasant clean and tidy and modern

The Hotel is close to St Paul’s Cathedral and the London Bridge. The London Eye is also close by. It has a bus stop right next to it where you can take a bus to the Farringdon Station for the Elizabeth Line to LHR. Staffs are very helpful and the breakfast is delicious.

We had a 3 Night stay here for a family trip. It was very conveniently located to the Underground yet still in a very quiet area. The beds were very comfortable and we slept great - didn’t hear our neighbors or any outside noise at all. We had breakfast included and there were ample choices for everyone. The restaurant for dinner didn’t have a huge menu but the food was very good! We booked the pool two different times and enjoyed it very much! Our only complaint would be that the wall between the shower and the beds was a foggy glass type wall and you could see through it if the person showering got close enough to it - also when you turned on the bathroom light in the middle of the night it would light up the whole hotel room. Overall we loved our stay and would absolutely stay again! Very friendly and helpful staff as well.

We really liked how convenient this hotel was to the Tub station. It was a 1 minute walk and we were there. The hotel was on a less busy side of town, which we liked and it felt safe. Room was clean and water stocked in the fridge daily was a big plus! We would stay here again.

This hotel is easily accessible from a tube station and conveniently situated for exploring London. The staff were friendly and helpful - something that you don’t always get in a London hotel! We booked the pool in advance and had it pretty much to ourselves - which was great for family swimming races! The sauna was a pleasant bonus as well. Our rooms were more than adequate - ours was a corner room with views of The Shard! All in all an excellent stay in a well priced hotel.

Great location, very easy to walk from Waterloo and close to the London eye. Good swimming pool and gym. Would of been nice if the pool was a little warmer. Great bar and we had good food. Expensive and service charges even if you're just buying a single drink. Maybe this is normal these days, but annoying. Good breakfast and the staff were excellent. Room was nice, the kids loved the see through shower! Good air conditioning and TV. A little cramped with the kids beds, but we were comfortable and it worked for our three night stay. We would stay again.

We didn't have the greatest stay at this hotel. It's clean, looks nice, good location. But the processes of booking a pool time, and using an app for everything was annoying. It's nice to have the option but it was basically mandatory. We hadn't eaten so we decided to get room service. Used the app and waited. After about an hour of refreshing an app that just said our order was "pending". I called the front desk to ask about our order. We discover they somehow didn't see it and said it would be up to our room soon. After 1 hour and 45 minutes we finally got our food. We got a small "sorry". Food was good the first night but the breakfast was chaos. That's the only word i can use for it. So many people and the space isn't quite big enough. Things weren't being refilled very fast, we went up a few times to find trays empty. It tasted good but we honestly couldn't wait to get out of there. To much stuff scattered across a small room with way too many people. There was even a notice by the elevator that the breakfast is busy and recommending to order room service instead, which obviously is in our experience unreliable. Now heres the final bad experience. On our last night just as we were about to sleep the fire alarm sounds. We quickly get out and discover there was actually a small fire. We were allowed back in after 2 hours or so outside. Not hotels fault, but there weren't enough emergency blankets and little instruction. Scary and they were ill prepared.

Staff were really helpful and sweet. Loved the ability to use phone app to order room service and ask about any issues/book swimming pool. The pool was very busy during one session but quieter in the next and everything was very clean. Would be great to add in a swim suit dryer to the changing rooms as we came back the next day but my suit was stil wet! Overall really lovely place for families, not far from Waterloo. Pool and inclusive breakfast were a hit for kids :)

The hotel exceeded my expectations. Staff were extremely welcoming. I was greeted by Alberto on my arrival and he was just so friendly and helpful, and also seemed highly competent. The room was spacious and clean, and I appreciated the complimentary mineral water. Gym was well equipped, and the pool was nice too if slightly cold for my taste. Breakfast was also quite good. Location was convenient an room surprisingly quiet. I thought overall that it was great value and would return.

The mould in the bathtub and poor general cleanliness was the main downside of this hotel. Carpet had been poorly hoovered (if at all) and all fixtured heavy wear & tear. Large stains on the carpet floor. Reception staff friendly, decent bar attached. Nice breakfast with a wide range available. The swimming pool and sauna was great, limiting the number of people in the pool by pre-booking was appreciated to keep the medium-sized pool from being overcrowded

We were very excited to come back to the Novotel in Blackfriars. Despite being early to check in, we were given a room so we could start our vacation in london early. The pool is lovely, the room was spacious, clean, and had everything we would need. We had two tvs in our room that were identical so the remotes operated both of them. That was the only challenge! Breakfast was also perfect and had everything we could possibly want to eat.
