The person in front of me did not have a reservation and was told several vacant rooms are available and he rented one. He got the keys immediately. I arrived about an hour and a half before check in time and was told I could not get a room until after check-in time. Working in the motel industry for 18 years I realize all they had to do was change room number in the computer to a vacant and clean room. Next do to the condition of their sidewalk and lot not being shoveled my wife slipped and fell. Fortunately she was not hurt. The room was modestly clean other than blood on one pillowcase and hair in the sink. The entry door next to McDonald's had the card reader broken so there is no security and he could just walk in.

Although this is a modest property, it is extremely well located and the Staff does its very best to accomodate. Added plus for us was its Pet Friendly policy.

checked in at 4:23 pm room not cleaned dirty towels on floor garbage full bed not made outside door on side lock broken anyone could walk in no room card needed very unsecure broken bottle in outside parking lot this is why we were unable to check in when desk clerk notified of conditions he laughed and said he would have to talk with staff want a refund for unable to stay in such a place

I loved the sauna and I had a wonderful hot shower with great water pressure. Property is outdated and there is no elevator, however we had a lake view and the staff were so friendly. Busy street, so it is loud, but again, Lake view!!! We only stayed one night, so it was fine for that. Beds were decent comfortable. 3 stars. I would stay there again if needed.

We had a third floor room with no working elevator. We were told by staff that elevator has not worked in nine years. Three of use over 60 carrying our luggage up. We stayed 14 days because it was close to the hospital where our father was. Staff was considerate and hotel was clean but needed repairs and updating. At the time we booked this was the only hotel with room available. We thought we’d only be there a few days but complications developed and we were there much longer than planned. We were too tired to switch hotels.

I like to give good reviews, but couldn't do it for this place. Liked: Convenient to our tour location. Actual room was clean enough. Disliked: Hotel smelled unclean. Carpets in the hallway and dining area smelled like sour food. Dining area was not clean: cereal crumbs everywhere. Hot water and coffee dispenser tasted like burnt plastic. Boiled eggs didn't look sanitary: they were already peeled and in refrigerator, from at least the day before. Worst place that we've ever stayed at.

The hotel needed a good cleaning. The hall, stairs and entry carpets need a steam clean. The shower head sprays water out of the shower curtain on all the different sitting. The breakfast area was not too sanitary and very limited. The tub has a lot of caulk. The parking area needs to be pick up.

Room smelly musty and old smoke smell. The air conditioner was loud and did not smell or sound like a healthy feature. Stain on ceiling..part of bathroom door peeling off..areas of mold in the bathroom. In addition the pillows were like quilting material rolled up-uncomfortable. Breakfast was cold and unimpressive. Thankfully, Eric, at the front desk was kind and efficient!

The room was very dirty. Hair in the shower, dirt on the floor. I'm guessing our room only had the bedding changed and that was it.(I looked the bedding over carefully!) The side table was sticky. We were there for 12 hours and that was long enough. The room temperature was good.(one positive) Breakfast was gross with a watery sausage gravy and rotting fruit in a bowl. Luckily there were prepackaged bagels and yogurt to eat. I know Duluth is expensive in the summer but really rooms should be clean. I wasn't looking for fancy just a place to sleep before heading on. Very disappointing.

This hotel is tired. It’s not been updated in a few decades. The lobby reeked of pot when I checked in and my room smelled of pot all night too. We had to park in the back alley behind the hotel and I was not comfortable going back out in the dark to get something we’d forgotten. There were unsavory characters hanging out behind the hotel and smoking on the stairs.

Location was perfect for our needs. Staff was friendly and allowed us to check in early. Our room was on the third floor and there is no elevator but if you park in the back and enter the second floor then you only have to take the stairs for one floor. My only complaint is that the walls between the rooms allow the noise to filter through. We could hear the tv next door as if it was right in our room.

Room was clean, beds comfortable (but I was exhausted). Biggest disappointment was the breakfast. Juice was out. There was coffee, cereal, bagels and English muffins. All in a dimley lit room. Luckily there is a Burger King across the street

Advertised on hotels.com as having stunning views of Lake Superior, well it doesn’t. It has some partial views of the lake. Room was nice…had a king bed and a sofa so we had plenty of space. Breakfast not great…no hot items at all…just muffins, yogurt, cereal, fruit.

First thing to note, the hotel is set back from the lake by a couple major roadways. A busy road runs right in front of it. The write up had me thinking this hotel would be right on the lake walk, with a lake view room I paid extra for. I was disappointed to find my lake view room looked at a busy road and construction with the lake in the distance. It would have been better to get a room on the other side facing the neighborhood, not the road! The room itself was clean and comfy. The only problem with the room is the door had a big crack at the bottom - no door jam! I rolled up a towel and made due since I paid in advance and couldn’t cancel. Fortunately I was in a quiet area and it was a slower night so not much hallway noise. The staff was friendly and attentive. The desk guy ran right up when The phone didn’t work - no dial tone. Apparently some phones don’t work… I did end up with a good night sleep, but next time I’ll pay a little more for a hotel on lake walk!

We ended up moving hotels. We were given a room and then someone else was given the same room, they walked in as they had key access. Our keys were shut off without notice and we were locked out, and had to recheck in. Would not recommend for service or cleanliness.

Staff agreed to let us move to a different room after we reported that the side door slammed loudly each time someone entered/exited. Our new room was quieter (thank you!) but had a slow sink drain and the toilet didn't flush unless we held the handle down for over 10 seconds. I understood there would be a hot, full breakfast daily. Turns out it is continental on weekdays and they add waffles on the weekends. Staff made some adjustments to our bill for our troubles, and they were friendly and knowledgeable.

When I came my room was not ready. Check in time is 3pm and it was close to 4pm. Staff stated they were still working on it. So finished checkin but was told I couldn't go to room for another 20 minutes. So we left and came back after 7pm. Found out there is no elevator which is difficult for me meaning I have knee issues. So I just took it slow up the stairs. Went to look for a vending machine for snacks. Only have pop machines. The bed was very uncomfortable for me. I woke up many times in pain. The inside of the bathroom door looks like someone locked there dog in their and the scratched it really bad. There is no caffeinated coffee on the property. They did not have much to choose from for the Continental breakfast. The fruit looked like it belonged in the garbage. Definitely not worth what I paid to stay here.

This has always been our go to place of stay when traveling to Duluth. We like being far enough away from the hustle and bustle but still withen walking distance to coffee shop, lake walk etc. We don't look for fancy just a nice, comfortable place to rest our heads at night..

The Inn is easy to find, has a pleasant view of Lake Superior. It was a convenient location for visiting friends and sight-seeing both at Canal Park and driving up the NorthShore. The lack of having a printer on the business computer was inconvenient. I understand it will be replaced and hope it's available for guests soon.

The price was right but conditions were terrible. Guest rooms need an overhaul done. They need to be updated! Breakfast was terrible. Hot breakfast is only gravy and biscuits and spoiled fresh fruit everyday. Other items were cereal, muffins, bagels, and yogurt. We did tell the guy working in the breakfast area that the fruit was spoiled and even pulled out the bad ones for him. He only threw one apple away and put the rest back in the fruit basket. Don't think anyone is interested in having a shriveled up orange.

Propert was in descent shape, the morning breakfast area was terrible. Dirty, no food at 8:00 am staff walked in and then left. For the money that was paid and what should have been offered could have been better.
