When arriving I learned their breakfast was $11 extra per person. I must have misread that breakfast was not included. However there is an amazing donut shop around the corner called Stan’s Donuts. Everything we tried was amazing! The pool is by reservations which we didn’t know about. Luckily we were able to get in right away and my kids didn’t have to wait. My kids were sad that other hotel kids couldn’t swim with them. We also were kicked out of the pool at the end of our time when we didn’t know. The kids swam for a while and I was preparing to give them notice to get out… but I had to abruptly pull them out. It was a small pool however we just didn’t know the rules. It just was different from any other place we stayed. Overall the majority of the staff were wonderful and kinds and seemed to enjoy their jobs. The hotel seemed clean over all. We really liked the closeness to the metra electric. Easy to head deeper in the city.

The staff were extremely pleasant. The power went out for 12 hours overnight. They need a generator for times like these. No lights, no ac on a 85 degree evening, no tv, no elevators and the stair wells were filthy. Location was good with plenty of options for dining.

Hotel is lovely and updated. Staff is exceptional and kind. Free breakfast was small, and there was no seating left. Had to eat in my room. Its difficult and cramped to get from parking garage to room. Also took a minute to even figure out how or where to park during check-in. I reserved on hotels.com and they did not have record of my reservation. Service desk had to totally redo my reservation and applied my online rate, but it took 3x the checkin time of other customers. Rooms were quiet, but hallways were absolutely freezing. Pool was closed and only open when reserved beforhand, something we didmt know and there was no signs indicating so. Pool is also so small it cant fit more than 4-6max people. My room remote was dirty despite being in a "sanitized and cleaned" sleeve. Built up grime abd dirt around the buttons. Bed had some black tiny fuzz balls on it, room could have used more blankets abd didnt have the extra pillows I requested.

Staff and service was fantastic, very clean throughout. Only thing that wasn’t great was the parking situation for check-in, had to circle the block several times before finding anywhere to leave the car as there wasn’t a designated area.

Lost power for a while night during our stay. I can tell the hotel was doing some electricity related construction as the hardware parts were at the entrance so the power failure was the hotels issue. It was very inconvenient as we couldn’t get in and out of parking. Staff was very friendly though so that was some good impression.

Construction interfered with operations. Parking was not provided to check in let alone to leave vehicle overnight. I was charged $40 a day to park deep underground with an offsite entrance. There had not been any notice in ads on website about this additional cost. I would have selected another hotel if I knew in advance. Not a viable location for persons traveling with a vehicle.

the staff was friendly and there was a terrific energetic vibe. It felt like a little home. The pool was so small! Wish they would use less throwaway food service items, it is such a waste. We appreciated everything else so much!

Just an overnight stay for a college campus visit, but had the Hyatt recommended by numerous people and it didn't disappoint. What a great community the Hyde Park area was. Rooms were very nice, big and extremely clean. Will definitely be making that out go to for all future trips to the Chicago land area

Parking for this hotel was a nightmare. We drove around in circles for an hour trying to find the parking garage because the staff did not give good directions and it isn’t directly next to the hotel. When we did find it, the key fob they gave us to get in the garage did not work. The rooms could have been cleaner. There were stains on the carpet and you could tell they just did a quick wipe down and sheet change due to the dust and debree on walls/windows/curtains/furniture. It wasn’t the worst experience but I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

While the staff was exceedingly lovely and kind, the property needs work. The bathrooms/tubs are dated with cracks in the ceiling, the pillows are not pillows but rather sandbags, ceilings throughout the property look dirty, light fixtures in lobby had cobwebs and were broken, the fold out sofa had a “mattress” that was 1 inch thick and squeaked with any movement. Cold be a great place with some TLC

This was our first time staying here. We were pleasantly surprised. We liked having a sitting area in our room. The location was perfect. The area is walkable with lots of restaurants and a movie theater across the street. The only thing we would have changed would be to have a microwave in the room or at least on every floor. Overall we would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is in walking distance or a short drive to terrific restaurants and public transit. My husband was able to take the metra straight downtown for the marathon. We didn't eat at the hotel but we're able to utilize a plate and plastic ware to hear up leftovers. The room was spacious and had plenty of space for storage. The bathroom was a bit dark but everything else was terrific!

I liked everything about the hotel, except the uncomfortable mattress, which I remedied with my backpacking air mattress. Everything else was perfect, including details like glass rather than plastic glasses. Quiet and roomy.

This was one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in. Big room with a separate sitting area, everything new and clean and modern design. It was a little bit of a trick figuring out how to get to their parking (you have to check in first, then use your key card to get in and get out), but I really appreciated that after we checked out we could leave the car there until 3, so we were able to leave the car there while we did stuff in the morning. It took a surprising amount of time to get an Uber (13 minutes). There were a lot of food options in easy walking distance. The hotel also sells breakfast, but we didn't try that.

Crowded cars on the streets, no where to park to even check in, had to park 2 blocks over at MCDOnalds( quite a few homeless people just hanging out on the side walk) and had to walk to checkin. Tried to check in at 4pm. The check in time was 3PM. I was told the room wasn’t ready and had to wait until 5:30 in the lobby until it was done. I had to get a parking pass to be able to park my car under the hotel, which I had to walk back to McDonalds to get. Not a great experience and morning staff was not friendly, breakfast was a normal continental not to bad.

I reserved a month before and when I go in to check, they were overbooked whats the point of reserving then I was not accomadating for anything, I even paid $ 40 for parking for nothing and I was never notified about this issue at all to even have time to look for another place to stay at.

Checked in late at night and front desk worker was rude. Did not greet us at all and acted annoyed she had to do her job. There was a drunk person screaming in the lobby, the front door was broken, and someone was sleeping with a blanket on the couch in the lobby. Lots of drunk people trying to break into business across from the hotel. Parking was not convenient. We slept a few hours and left as soon as possible because my kids were terrified.

We got to our hotel very late at night because our flights had been delayed by a couple of hours. When we got there we were told they over booked and so they didn't have a room for us the first night. We were sent to a different hotel for the first night and then the next 2 nights we came back to the Hyatt. We were told that the 1st night would be on them, however when I checked on the payments we were still charged for the 1st night. It was very inconvenient and we were not happy that we hadn't been notified prior to our arrival.

This is more of a self-serve kind of stay: if you need coffee packets or a refill of any room amenities, the receptionist instructs you to come down to the lobby to get them yourself. The one time staff delivered towels up to our room, they were moist and staff refused to take our used ones back, saying they would "grab them later." If you make no requests, though, everyone is very friendly!

There are many restaurants near the hotel, making dining very convenient. If you have business at the University of Chicago, this hotel is undoubtedly the first choice. It is 1 mile away from the bookstore of the University of Chicago. The parking is self-park, at $40 per day, and you can enter and exit at any time. Considering the safety of the surrounding area and the parking fee, this price is undoubtedly very good.

Lovely hotel in a wonderful area. Walkable with many restaurants and amenities nearby including an art gallery and a state-of-the-art workspace. The hotel staff members at Hyatt Place are kind and friendly and they will tell you where to find all the good food. Uber from ORD will cost around $50 midday on Friday. Great place to stay.

I stayed here for the Chicago marathon. It was cheaper than being closer to the start of the marathon. The staff was friendly and helpful. The property was clean. It is close to the 51st/53rd train station to be able to get to the expo at McCormick Place. Public transportation to the start of the marathon was also possible and easy. There was a Whole Foods close by. There were a few restaurants within 1 to 2 minutes outside of the door. I felt very safe walking around this area.

The day stuff was very good , friendly and helpful. The food in the Placery was disgusting!!! I placed an order one night. When I went down to pick it up I had to wait 20 minutes for someone to help me. I thought my food was not delivered yet! When someone came over my food had been sitting on the counter the whole time. Cold and dried out!!!

you think you are getting a nice stay for what you pay, but wrong! the bathtub in our room had drainage issue and water was sitting there. when the next morning I discussed with the front desk they just apologized and did not even try to give me consessions. breakfast was terrible too! low quality food, not that many options, and gone by 9:30!! will never stay again!

The staff were consistently friendly and helpful. My only complaint is how hot the hallways were, it seemed as though no air was flowing in the hallways on the guest floors. The breakfast was $11.00 and was surprisingly decent for a hotel buffet style breakfast.
