Property was nice. Didn’t like 3rd floor to many steps. No elevator. Noisy. Something was running (generator?) and it was loud entire night. Hard to get into dinner places With that said we did have a good time.

This resort is smaller in size (1 pool). Very nice beach with beautiful white sand. A good variety of A la carte restaurants (Italian, Spanish, Steakhouse, Mexican, Japanese). The food was good most of the time. They also have a buffet dining area that is located beside the main lobby area which is a long distance away from the beach area (750-1000 meters)!! The buffet could also have more variety in my opinion. The one thing I did not appreciate was the number of Coaties (Similar to Raccoons) roaming on the premises, I find that a better control of these animals should be done.

Everyone was so friendly and helpful!! The grounds were beautifully manicured. Unfortunately, there was a huge influx of red sargassum (seaweed) that they could do nothing about, but they worked sun up to sundown raking it up and disposing of it. The staff was very accommodating. The buffet was really good with lots of choices. The dinner restaurants were top notch. The snack bars and food trucks, and many drink bars were all exceptional. The pools were well maintained and clean. Lots of guest services were available as well. The wildlife at the resort was probably my favorite part!! Monkeys, coaties, birds, iguanas, and even a boa constrictor were all enjoyed! We can’t wait to return!

Hotel/Maroma beach is lovely - hotel clears seaweed if it occurs. Rooms (3319) are a good size but lack views and are in 3 block complexes. Only 1 large pool but so noisy, not peaceful. Hotel needs an alternative quiet area pool. All inclusive food / drinks were ok but difficult to book themed restaurants. This hotel is large so it is catering for the masses unless you upgrade to Privilege or Exclusive grades. Would not advise for disabled or elderly guests - long walks from rooms to facilities.

Beach was clean, sand wasn’t hot, water was clean, no rocks, shallow sea water- great for kids, great shades from palm trees, so much shade on property, great jungles in the middle of property. Easy access, enough parking spots, great service, clean and area, warm pool, lot pf activities and great evening shows. Food was good, lot of fruits and deserts. Book restaurants once check in because not always available. Italian restaurants and stake house were great food and service, special thanks to Juliana Garcia. Highly recommend, A

Great resort in jungle setting but along a very nice beach. Lots of beach loungers around pool and at beach. Never any line ups for buffet restaurant and reservations for other restaurants were easy to book. Food was good and lots of variety at Buffet. Stayed in Privileged category which is in the buildings closer to the pool and beach, and gives exclusive access to a certain area of the beach with lu gets and daybeds (free) and the beachfront Beloved restaurant, which is al la carte for all meals (it was fine but we only ate there once and preferred the Buffet restaurant). The check in desk and main buffet are a fairly long walk away from the pool and beach (about 400 metres with the 6 buildings with rooms along the path) so there can be a lot of walking. Dedicated coffee shop on site was great and had wide assortment of hot and cold drinks and many desserts. Our room was not one of the renovated rooms but it was clean and spacious. The AC unit was fairly loud but kept the room nice and cool at night. Lots of Coatis roaming around and saw one monkey. All staff were very pleasant and attentive. We would stay here again but would book a renovated room next time (they had none available to upgrade to when we stayed).

Having previously stayed at resorts at a slightly higher price point, we entered this trip keeping that in mind. This resort is so close to being a really great place. Check in was simple/great The room was great upon our arrival. We stayed in the privileged oceanview with the private plunge pool. Room 6320 to be exact. The private pool was nice to have, but could use some updates. It had missing tile and grout which subtracted from the experience. I have yet to find a pool in Mx that is heated, so I was expecting it to be cool. It was. But not terrible. The staff was close to great, but there was a wide gap in staff. Some were wonderful, others appeared confused and possibly new. The food was good. Only had two “great” meals. Both were at the steakhouse (The Grill). At other resorts (again at a little higher price point and we realize that) we’ve had much better food. Lunch options were sparse as the only ala carte restaurant available for lunch is Beloved. Reservation required and only available to “Privledged” level guests. The buffet was open for lunch as well as two food trucks, (honestly…meh) as well as a crepe place (also meh) and the pizza buffet (if you call it that with self serve and 5 pizza choices…the pizza felt undercooked each time we had it. We only returned for pizza another time because of the limited food options. We wanted to love this resort. And they honestly were very close. I’d have to think hard about returning at this price point

Wonderful hotel! We had a great time there with the kids! What a beautiful shore and beach! Gorgeous pool! Excellent Wi-Fi speed throughout the hotel, on the beach, and in the room. Friendly staff! Great choice of restaurants! Service, cleanliness, comfort! We really liked this hotel, I recommend it!

Liked it other than a few things. Only bar at night is the lobby. This was bad for us as we like the outside near the beach. Mexican restaurant no longer open at lunch doing crepes and other lunch stuff. Staff were awesome. Was our third time. Likely our last since Catalonia big bosses in spain don’t listen to feedback and their own staff are leaving

Every employee we came into contact with at this resort was an absolute joy! The resort is a beautiful natural habitat for animals. It was so much fun to see the different animals. The room was beautiful and the food was fabulous. The maids came everyday and stocked our fridge with beer and Pepsi products. It was so easy to get an excursion booked and the concierge had a great knowledge of them all. Everything was extremely clean and beautifully managed. The beach area is large and very enjoyable. Do be aware you have the chance of seaweed during the summer months. It didn’t put one minute’s damper on the fun and enjoyment we had. I would love to come back!

There are no paper napkins. Dirty glasses in the buffet Coati climb on the waiters' stations, on the clean utensils. You can't leave your things alone on the pool , because coati open and rummage through bags, drink from glasses...

While the bartenders and restaurant staff were very kind and did a great job, the cleaning staff failed every day to refill anything in our room including towels, toilet paper and water. We made a request after the first day to the front desk and it was still happening every other day. I had to find staff in the hallway and get it from their closet myself.

The staff was friendly and very nice. The guest clientele was noted to be mostly French. Unfortunately, they weren’t friendly and this interfered with the vacation vibe. We met other wonderful guests from Canada though. Public bathroom in the lobby smelled like an outhouse. The room smelled like mildew the entire week. I had to purchase the Catalonia room spray to help with the smell. The bed was very firm and uncomfortable. This was an issue for us. Luckily we were on the 2nd floor, because the patio door didn’t lock. Spa facial and massage was service was wonderful!! Well worth the extra cost.

Second time visiting the resort. 2023 was great. 2024 was horrible. We had to move to 3 different rooms due to construction noise, dirty beds, AC not working in 2 rooms. This caused us to miss 1 full day of our trip waiting for rooms. The 3rd room was infested with fire ants and we were both bitten all over (we have photos) including our feet, legs and groin. They wouldn't do anything about it. There was no hot water until the last day. They didn't replenish toilet paper one day even when we called repeatedly. Hand towels & washcloths weren't replenished twice & rooms weren't cleaned until sometimes 5 pm. The power went out repeatedly. They gave us a spa credit for massages for all that kept happening but then wouldn't do the massages & made us choose another service. We talked to the manager who told us to follow up after the trip with an email & she would help fix/help with credit towards a future trip. Emailed repeatedly and she never returned one email nor did her management or any Catalonia representative. Called with no callback. I cried so much as this vacation turned out not to be a vacation but a nightmare with no one helping post trip.

We had a wonderful week at this resort! Don't pay attention to any bad reviews! Those guests must be crabby! This resort has a great feel... beautiful lobby, cozy sitting places sprinkled around the resort, manicured spaces, impecably clean throughout. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming. We are beach people and got to know Paola, the server in the privilege section, really well! She was so nice! Emilio, the recently hired beach/pool manager was also the best! The food was DELISH at each restaurant. The best we've had at all of the resorts we've been to. We made the required reservations at the beginning of our stay for the whole week. Worked out seemlessly. We would jump at the chance to return to this resort! Highly recommend!!

Careful. The smell at the buffet place is very strong and not pleasant at all. They don’t have enough staff. For the price you can get something a lot better. . At swimming pool and beach you have to way a long time y you want for some one to bring your drinks. DONT GO THERE ..

Poor value for the price we paid. Property is cutting costs on food, staff training, room maintenance, spa facilities, a la carte restaurants. Stayed in this property before (6 years ago) and thought it was fantastic. Most everything that made this property special, such as excellent restaurants, customer service, grounds upkeep is no longer there. While property grounds are still beautifully landscaped, the trash and food leftovers are not picked up, the tables in the lobby, around the pool and the beach, coffee shop are always sticky and full of crumbs which invites ants and raccoons. The food was the worst we had in 25 years vacationing in Mexico. We are not picking eaters, but the taste and the quality of food is similar to hospital or school cafeteria- bland, greasy, tasteless, re-heated or fried, and heavily processed. Our last meal at the Spanish restaurant (which is no longer serves tapas) was boiled potatoes with mayo for the appetizer, and a mystery canned meat with soupy rice for (the called beef ribs and Spanish rice). The Asian restaurant meals tasted like microwaveable lunches . B-loved and Grill- OK fish. salads, but tough and poorly cooked meat. Italian- the only good restaurant. Rooms- clean, but outdated. Airconditioner turned on and off every 30 minutes was so loud, it was impossible to get a restful sleep. Spa- poorly functioning sauna, tiny steam room and jacuzzi with mostly non-functional jets. Too bad this property is so mismanaged.

This was perfect for a simple getaway vacation. We arrived early and was able to check into our room right away. Within 15 minutes of getting to our room, a delivery of macaroons showed up! We had a Privileged Superior room. Our room was in the building closest to the ocean with an ocean view which was a great surprise! The room was simple and clean, housekeepers were very timely in their cleaning. Air conditioning didn't work the best, which we didn't mind. Servers and bar staff were 10/10. Hardworking and thoughtful! The buffet is to be expected but it was nice that you can build your own breakfast and they had other themed nights with food that is customizable. The privileged package was worth it, the Beloved restaurant was amazing, always great food. The Italian and steak house were very good as well. Not a whole lot of night life, a few people hung out in the nightclub but don't expect it to be like Coco Bongo! The shows were all very good. The beach was beautiful! We loved that there is sun coverage from all the palm trees on the beach. The coatis are crazy for sure, they are ruthless opportunists but you just need to shoo them away and they would move on. They are the worst by the pool but do come down on the beach every once in a while. Overall, I would defiantly come here again. It is not a fancy hotel by any means but it was always clean and great service and perfect for us!

The staff was friendly and very nice. The guest clientele was noted to be mostly French. Unfortunately, they weren’t friendly and this interfered with the vacation vibe. We met other wonderful guests from Canada though. Public bathroom in the lobby smelled like an outhouse. The room smelled like mildew the entire week. I had to purchase the Catalonia room spray to help with the smell. The bed was very firm and uncomfortable. This was an issue for us. Luckily we were on the 2nd floor, because the patio door didn’t lock. Spa facial and massage was service was wonderful!! Well worth the extra cost.

Hotel/Maroma beach is lovely - hotel clears seaweed if it occurs. Rooms (3319) are a good size but lack views and are in 3 block complexes. Only 1 large pool but so noisy, not peaceful. Hotel needs an alternative quiet area pool. All inclusive food / drinks were ok but difficult to book themed restaurants. This hotel is large so it is catering for the masses unless you upgrade to Privilege or Exclusive grades. Would not advise for disabled or elderly guests - long walks from rooms to facilities.

The food was delicious and the staff was nice! The only thing that sucked was that our room never got cooler than 78 degrees!!! The AC wasn’t working properly! Maintenance came and “fixed” it… still no AC. Overall I would return it was a cheap nice place

This is my second stay at Catalonia Playa Maroma. The first stay was in a Privileged Superior room which gives you the option of having 2 large beds but is not fully updated, just refreshed (bathroom and floors are still old). This time we stayed in a Privileged Suite. On Expedia it says you can get King bed or 2 double, that is not true. Because it\'s a suite, it doesn\'t have room for two double bed. There is the bedroom section with a kind bed and the "living room" area with a pullout sofa. For our two kids, 4 and 6, the sofa was adequate. If you have 2 teens, that pullout sofa will be uncomfortable and you\'re better off selecting a Privileged Superior room. Being Privileged puts you in Buildings 5 or 6 closest to the pool/beach/specialty restaurants and access to Bloved restaurant. Pro: For the money, this resort has everything you need. Big buffet, good specialty restaurants especially Italian and Steakhouse. Bloved- this time the food was disappointing, however, last stay it was delicious. Hibachi is standard, the apps are really small and the dessert is odd, but the showmanship was great! THE STAFF AT THE RESORT IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. Everyone was helpful, kind, attentive. Beautiful beach with NO ROCKS and absolutely gorgeous well-maintained grounds. Cons: Even the renovated suite bathroom has mold. Coatis steal your food/drinks the second you put it down. Pool has loud music all day so couldn\'t nap in Building 6. No evator so if mobility issues ask for 1st floor.

Great resort in jungle setting but along a very nice beach. Lots of beach loungers around pool and at beach. Never any line ups for buffet restaurant and reservations for other restaurants were easy to book. Food was good and lots of variety at Buffet. Stayed in Privileged category which is in the buildings closer to the pool and beach, and gives exclusive access to a certain area of the beach with lu gets and daybeds (free) and the beachfront Beloved restaurant, which is al la carte for all meals (it was fine but we only ate there once and preferred the Buffet restaurant). The check in desk and main buffet are a fairly long walk away from the pool and beach (about 400 metres with the 6 buildings with rooms along the path) so there can be a lot of walking. Dedicated coffee shop on site was great and had wide assortment of hot and cold drinks and many desserts. Our room was not one of the renovated rooms but it was clean and spacious. The AC unit was fairly loud but kept the room nice and cool at night. Lots of Coatis roaming around and saw one monkey. All staff were very pleasant and attentive. We would stay here again but would book a renovated room next time (they had none available to upgrade to when we stayed).

Having previously stayed at resorts at a slightly higher price point, we entered this trip keeping that in mind. This resort is so close to being a really great place. Check in was simple/great The room was great upon our arrival. We stayed in the privileged oceanview with the private plunge pool. Room 6320 to be exact. The private pool was nice to have, but could use some updates. It had missing tile and grout which subtracted from the experience. I have yet to find a pool in Mx that is heated, so I was expecting it to be cool. It was. But not terrible. The staff was close to great, but there was a wide gap in staff. Some were wonderful, others appeared confused and possibly new. The food was good. Only had two “great” meals. Both were at the steakhouse (The Grill). At other resorts (again at a little higher price point and we realize that) we’ve had much better food. Lunch options were sparse as the only ala carte restaurant available for lunch is Beloved. Reservation required and only available to “Privledged” level guests. The buffet was open for lunch as well as two food trucks, (honestly…meh) as well as a crepe place (also meh) and the pizza buffet (if you call it that with self serve and 5 pizza choices…the pizza felt undercooked each time we had it. We only returned for pizza another time because of the limited food options. We wanted to love this resort. And they honestly were very close. I’d have to think hard about returning at this price point

The resort was beautiful, lots of trees everywhere and it made you feel like you were in in the rainforest. The room, even thought we paid for a romance privilege package, we did not receive all that was mentioned on the site. The room was dated and not the newer one that was mentioned we would get. I was hoping that since you were paying more for the room it would be closer and more convenient to the beach and pool area, it was not. Save your money and get the cheaper rooms, closer to the beach and pool area. The staff in the buffet area, was a hit or miss on them being friendly and/or courteous. The buffet food overall not the greatest but it was not bad either. The staff in the restaurants were superb and the food very yummy, would suggest to make reservations ahead of time and eat there whenever possible. There are 5 specialty restaurants to try. My favorite was the Japanese one. If you are wanting night life this is not the resort for you. The pool closes at 8. Which was very disappointing, since it it extremely hot during the day and it would have been nice to have it open once the suns sets. If you are traveling with small kids then yes this will be good for your family. Overall it was a pretty place with animals running all over the place, which I love. Would I go there again probably not.

The property is serene and quiet (not a party resort) which was great. Its also not a huge resort which is nice. The beach was not usable during our stay due to the Sargassum weed issue (do your research before booking anywhere in Mexico during the summer). We spent all our time in the pool which was great. The only down side to this resort was an issue with service which was not handled well. We booked dinner at one of the restaurants the first night and when we arrived they informed us that its only for their privilege members which we were not. They couldn't tell me why their system let me book it. They offered to seat us in 2 other restaurants but only if we were willing to purchase a $50USD bottle of wine. Aside from this incident which was not great the overall stay was pleasant and I would recommend the resort.

This is our favorite place, our home away from home! The service and attention to detail is amazing. We have made some amazing friends at this resort over time. We had some very special help this trip from Arantza Ramos in guest services. This trip we were a group of 12, and were completely satisfied as always.

Upon arrival, the lobby looked outdated with parts of the roof missing, and the buffet area had a foul odor. Thankfully, the other restaurants were excellent with great food. Our first night was difficult — the room next door had a woman with several children screaming nonstop. I called the front desk twice for help, but no one answered. I eventually went to the door myself, and while the noise briefly quieted, it soon returned. The mom appeared drunk and overwhelmed, and the children were out of control. Overall, most of the staff were friendly and helpful, but guest services were hesitant to provide smaller bills, which was frustrating since these were meant for tipping their own employees. Scheduling dinner reservations online was also a nightmare — the system doesn’t allow changes, and adjustments require a long walk to guest services. Another disappointment was the lack of communication about the privilege amenities. At check-in, nothing was mentioned, and I only learned days later about the privilege breakfast and dinner options, which I then missed out on. The free 30-minute massage, however, was excellent and a highlight of the stay. In summary, while the staff (outside guest services) were wonderful, the specialty restaurants were enjoyable, and the massage was amazing, the outdated facilities, noise issues, poor communication, and frustrating reservation system left a lot to be desired.

I encountered an issue where my bank account was being charged twice anytime I utilized my card at the resort. As it turns out the resort does a pre authorization and primary authorization on cards (not all cards), which in turn puts a hold on double the amount for a few days. This was a surprise to me and when I attempted to understand what the situation was the resort staff was not helpful at all. Other than that the stay was good and I will be back with lessons learned.

The staff at this resort provided the best customer service that I’ve ever received in Mexico. Fernando and Elena at the lobby bar. Henry at the Beach Bar. Constania with the Ground Management. Carolina at reception. Angel greeting in the lobby. Jose helped with the bags and getting us safely into the car. Some name I have forgotten but every single person was awesome. The food at the dinner restaurants was good. The buffet was your average buffet food but it was not bad. There is always something to eat. The grounds were beautifully kept. The pool was good - not very big but also not crowded. The beach was beautiful!! Lots a trees and plenty of lounge chairs!

The hotels grounds, and many of the service staff are quite nice. That’s where it ends. All of the infrastructure, from the buildings to AC and even plumbing, seems to be failing quite miserably. This place may have been nice 10+ years ago, but i would not recommend coming here now. Front desk staff are not very helpful, you really have to complain and create a bit of a scene to get even a simple thing like for instance the lock on our door fixed, or an option to move rooms when ours would not go below 30 degrees. Our experience wasn’t isolated as we heard story after story about people’s bad experiences.

The property is located on beautiful Maroma Beach. Power white sand with warm clear emerald green and blue water. Walking along the beach is beautiful and relaxing. The resort is largely in the jungle with a long path to the beach and pool area. Sit down restaurants are available if reservations are made in advance and the staff really are eager to please. The chefs would benefit from cooking lessons but are very eager to please and learn. The resort is remote and about 30 minutes from Playa Del Carmen making the resort a little remote and quiet.

This was our 8th stay at Catalonia and we plan to go back next year. The pluses: perfect location, beautifully groomed and landscaped grounds, no golf or gambling, attracts visitors from around the globe, fantastic staff gorgeous beach (when there is not sargasum grass), generous rooms, varied food choices, excellent guest services. Minuses: A/C in rooms is uneven, food is in some restaurants could be upgraded. Deafening assultative and unnecessary loud music at the pool with the bass at an unacceptable volume damaging to the hearing of children and adults. Great juice bar at the pool and great espresso in several locations. Beautiful walking path through a jungle landscape between the beach and the reception area and bar/coffee bar. We plan to return next February.

The beach was not usable during our stay due to the Sargassum weed issue (do your research before booking anywhere in Mexico during the summer). We spent all our time in the pool which was great. We booked dinner at one of the restaurants the first night and when we arrived they informed us that its only for their privilege members which we were not. They couldn't tell me why their system let me book it. They offered to seat us in 2 other restaurants but only if we were willing to purchase a $50USD bottle of wine. Aside from this incident which was not great the overall stay was pleasant and I would recommend the resort.

the beach was beautiful but the seagrass was horrible. It is not the properties fault and they were trying their best to clean it up. the hotel was very clean and the staff was great, always smiling. the downfall is all the walking! everything is far to walk and no golf carts or other transportation to help. If you are in great shape or younger would not be as much as an issue.

Great resort in jungle setting but along a very nice beach. Lots of beach loungers around pool and at beach. Never any line ups for buffet restaurant and reservations for other restaurants were easy to book. Food was good and lots of variety at Buffet. Stayed in Privileged category which is in the buildings closer to the pool and beach, and gives exclusive access to a certain area of the beach with lu gets and daybeds (free) and the beachfront Beloved restaurant, which is al la carte for all meals (it was fine but we only ate there once and preferred the Buffet restaurant). The check in desk and main buffet are a fairly long walk away from the pool and beach (about 400 metres with the 6 buildings with rooms along the path) so there can be a lot of walking. Dedicated coffee shop on site was great and had wide assortment of hot and cold drinks and many desserts. Our room was not one of the renovated rooms but it was clean and spacious. The AC unit was fairly loud but kept the room nice and cool at night. Lots of Coatis roaming around and saw one monkey. All staff were very pleasant and attentive. We would stay here again but would book a renovated room next time (they had none available to upgrade to when we stayed).

It’s my second time in Catalonia and I love everything that they try to preserve and offer. The walk from lobby to the beach is amazing and relaxing you feel like you are in a jungle and at the beach. The wild animals, the birds. I love the palm trees at the beach and there is much beach room and shade and chairs you don’t have to worry about not finding a place to sit. The food is really good. Limited options but everything is edible. I love their house wine and coffee place. I wish they had more sea food options like crab, shrimps and crawfish on the grill. It’s become one of my favorite places.

Beware Expedia or the Hotel will not provide airport transfers. When buying from Expedia you will not have transfer included. You will have to pay $100 extra one-way. Expedia customer service is unreachable and the hotel can't do anything about it. When buying directly from hotel, they might provide transfers, at least others did. Hotel itself is ok, typical resort. Staff is friendly. Night entertainment is a bit mellow more oriented for 50+ crowd. There is kids daycare and shallow pool but no water slides. Beach would be great if they clean seaweed regularly.

Beautiful beach & nice pool. Small lobby with limited seating. Lobby flooded when it rained. Only two bars on the whole resort. Every drink was made different - no consistency. Our room was extremely musty and dated but some rooms were updated. Courtyards were nice. No elevators. Same food served every day at buffet & by pool. Limited choices for lunch by pool & beach. A la cartes were nice. Entertainment was just a dancing & singing show in different costumes- no variety. Silent party was fun. Coatis were a nuisance. Staff were friendly & helpful. Whole resort felt dated and that corners were being cut.

Le camere sono belle e funzionali, la spiaggia è bella, il personale (tranne alla reception) è gentilissimo e sempre sorridente. Il ristorante a buffet è veramente deludente,si salva solo a colazione, il cibo proposto è sempre lo stesso e di bassa qualità! Quasi impossibile provare i ristoranti alla carta perché sempre pieni e con poca capienza.

Upon arrival, the lobby looked outdated with parts of the roof missing, and the buffet area had a foul odor. Thankfully, the other restaurants were excellent with great food. Our first night was difficult — the room next door had a woman with several children screaming nonstop. I called the front desk twice for help, but no one answered. I eventually went to the door myself, and while the noise briefly quieted, it soon returned. The mom appeared drunk and overwhelmed, and the children were out of control. Overall, most of the staff were friendly and helpful, but guest services were hesitant to provide smaller bills, which was frustrating since these were meant for tipping their own employees. Scheduling dinner reservations online was also a nightmare — the system doesn’t allow changes, and adjustments require a long walk to guest services. Another disappointment was the lack of communication about the privilege amenities. At check-in, nothing was mentioned, and I only learned days later about the privilege breakfast and dinner options, which I then missed out on. The free 30-minute massage, however, was excellent and a highlight of the stay. In summary, while the staff (outside guest services) were wonderful, the specialty restaurants were enjoyable, and the massage was amazing, the outdated facilities, noise issues, poor communication, and frustrating reservation system left a lot to be desired.

Buffet was honestly the best of the food options - had dinner at 3 sit down restaurants (including Bloved) and the food was woefully under seasoned. You also cannot get alcohol before 11am (after 2am), which was unfortunate if you wanted a breakfast cocktail. Other than that, everything was great and would definitely come back again.

Having previously stayed at resorts at a slightly higher price point, we entered this trip keeping that in mind. This resort is so close to being a really great place. Check in was simple/great The room was great upon our arrival. We stayed in the privileged oceanview with the private plunge pool. Room 6320 to be exact. The private pool was nice to have, but could use some updates. It had missing tile and grout which subtracted from the experience. I have yet to find a pool in Mx that is heated, so I was expecting it to be cool. It was. But not terrible. The staff was close to great, but there was a wide gap in staff. Some were wonderful, others appeared confused and possibly new. The food was good. Only had two “great” meals. Both were at the steakhouse (The Grill). At other resorts (again at a little higher price point and we realize that) we’ve had much better food. Lunch options were sparse as the only ala carte restaurant available for lunch is Beloved. Reservation required and only available to “Privledged” level guests. The buffet was open for lunch as well as two food trucks, (honestly…meh) as well as a crepe place (also meh) and the pizza buffet (if you call it that with self serve and 5 pizza choices…the pizza felt undercooked each time we had it. We only returned for pizza another time because of the limited food options. We wanted to love this resort. And they honestly were very close. I’d have to think hard about returning at this price point

Liked it other than a few things. Only bar at night is the lobby. This was bad for us as we like the outside near the beach. Mexican restaurant no longer open at lunch doing crepes and other lunch stuff. Staff were awesome. Was our third time. Likely our last since Catalonia big bosses in spain don’t listen to feedback and their own staff are leaving

Food in Buffett is all the same everyday. There is almost no see food option. For the 9 days of stay we had shrimps once. Fruits and sweets are great out there.

It was a wonderful vacation with kids. The food, the entertainment staff, and the cleanliness of the rooms were all amazing… but most importantly, there is so much greenery and a beautiful beach. I will definitely come back here again.
