Residence Inn by Marriott New York Manhattan/Central Park

Room was fine but elevators getting up to room (42nd floor) and back down to lobby were a disaster. Often had to wait 30+ mins to get into elevator, often had to go up to top floor to catch elevator coming back down. Huge safety concern.

Room was great. Hallways were dark (brown everything) and elevators were awful (very slow and used by staff a lot )

Queuing for the elevators and squeezing into them nearly every time we had to go up or down. Ice was only on floor 35! One working ice machine for 60 floors of rooms! That is ridiculous. Ice should be on every 5th or so floor. You couldn’t get ice without a long wait for the elevator. Too many floors to use the stairs.

Bags of garage where left at the hallway close to our room for two days. From the four elevators only two were working so we needed to wait around 15 minutes each time we were use it. In one occasion, we waited for 30 minutes and decided to go down by foot from the 39 floor. First day, we arrived at 3:00pm and had to wait 1 hour to get our room. Service at the lobby was not friendly.

Our room was next to the elevators and could not sleep due to the elevators making noise going up and down all night. Making a raddling noise. I was trapped inside the elevator for 40 minutes until the technicians arrived. There were 11 people inside the elevator, but the elevator never stated anything about it being too full. We were trapped on the 4th floor. We asked the operator to contact Police and Fire Department.

The staff was great, the room itself was good. The elevators are another story. Ended up walking down 43 flights of stairs after 25 minutes of waiting for an elevator.

Cyril the manager was fantastic. The breakfast was ok. The rest was garbage. Apparently the building houses 2 hotel chains, Residence Inn and Marriott. We arrived 20 minutes before our check in and were directed to the “Bistro” on the 3rd floor. There was only one elevator working in the 65 floor building so we had to get in a long line to get to 3. Once there, the food was on the same level as skating rink food. We then went back downstairs to check in at 4 and were told that the cleaners hadn’t indicated that the rooms were ready so we had to wait a “few minutes”. Everyone else who was checking in also had to wait and there were only 4 chairs so everyone else had to sit on the floor. We sat on the floor for AN HOUR. Once the room was ready everyone waited in line to get in the one elevator that was working. They lost my son’s backpack and didn’t care. Hotel was run down and shabby. Throughout the weekend there was a variation on how many of the four elevators were working, and 4 for a 65 floor building is already insufficient. Location was close to Times Square. I will never stay here again.

Only 1 lift out of 4 operational for one day and only 2 of 4 operational on the other 3 days. We had to go up and down 48 floors using the stairs 3 times. Even when we got an elevator after about a 20 min wait, it was too full to accommodate us. Staff offered free appetizers as compensation - what’s joke! For the amount charged this was inexcusable.

I loved the hotel and staff. The elevator issue with two or more not working was terrible. We will not stay there again because of this issue. So many others agreed while we talked waiting for the elevator for 15-20 minutes at a time.

We checked into room 3907 on December 9th and were instantly captivated by the breathtaking views of the city and water. The location was fantastic, conveniently situated between Central Park, Times Square, and Rockefeller Center, making it easy to explore New York's iconic attractions. However, we encountered several issues with the room. The refrigerator was not functioning, which was concerning since we had medication that needed to be kept cool. We called maintenance for assistance but, after a few hours without an update, we followed up and were assured help was on the way. Unfortunately, after waiting longer, we decided to leave the room. On our way out, we informed the front desk that maintenance had not arrived. Upon returning several hours later, we found the refrigerator still wasn’t working. We requested a room change, but were told we would need to wait until the next day. They kindly offered to store our medication in their restaurant fridge for the night. Later that evening we discovered the lights above the high stands were inoperable. The next morning, after my shower, I stepped out to find the bathroom floor flooded, highlighting the lack of upkeep in the room. Fortunately, our stay improved in the new room, 4906. While more comfortable, it still showed signs of wear, with visible scratches and the bathroom barn door not fitting properly. Overall, while our experience had its ups and downs, I’m not sure I would choose to stay here again.

Easy to get to and check in was fast and room was ready when we arrived early. Loved the corner room and view. Bed was very comfortable. Only thing that was disappointing was the cleanliness of the bathroom.

The room was generally clean, but we did notice many small gnats/moths in the bathroom and some towels had a strange smell. On the plus side, the room was well‑equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, utensils (forks/spoons, etc.), and a dishwasher, which is convenient for families or longer stays. Amenities: The hotel has a gym and laundry room on the 35th floor. Laundry costs $2.50 for washing and $3.50 for drying, which is reasonable for New York. Breakfast: Breakfast is included in the stay and was quite good, with a variety of options that worked well for both adults and kids. Location: The location is fantastic — right by Central Park and within walking distance of Times Square, Broadway, and multiple subway stations. Overall: While we experienced a delay at check‑in and some issues with bathroom insects and towel smell, the great view, helpful management, convenient in‑room amenities, and solid breakfast made our stay enjoyable. I’d recommend this hotel for families

This hotel is in a great location for access to everything you would want to do in Manhattan. The biggest issues were: the lobby had a faint garbage smell. This was not present on the street right outside the hotel or in the rooms. The refrigerator wasn't working. There was no fan in the bathroom which was problematic after eating greasy pizza! But, the biggest disappointment was the free breakfast. I don't know why so many have mentioned how good it was. The scrambled eggs were hard in the middle but runny. Not even sure how you do that. Pancakes were hard. Overall, nothing was good unless you are okay with cold cereal. If I had paid $32.00 that they charge for this breakfast, I would have been upset. But, I chose this hotel because of the breakfast thinking it would save a few bucks so I factored that into the cost when comparing hotels. We only ate there the first day and then found other options after that. We went back the 2nd day at a different time to see if perhaps the day before was a fluke, but sadly, it was no better the 2nd day.

Lobby smelled like horse manure & sheets were dirty in one of the beds. The lights in the kitchenette would not turn off, so engineering came and unplugged them which then unplugged microwave and kitchen area.

Refrigerator and dishwasher was out of order inn our completely stay, the technical staff tried to fix it 5 times without being able to fix it. Incredible poor service and no interest to help us with new room or any compensation. Was promised 100 USD for the food we had to throw away, but even after 1 month we have received it. What kind of service/support is this?. We have sent complain by mail/telephone and we wrote down all things that was wrong when we was there. We had mould inside our refrigerator that you sent up to clean when we told you. Coffee machine was out of order, it was replaced, missing the remote control and you came up with a new one. But 5 days without kitchen and no compensation. Unbelievable after traveling properly 20 times in the US this was the worst customer support we have experienced.

Very clean room, beautiful views! Amazing staff - so nice and helpful. Breakfast wasn’t great but it was a bonus that it was included. Elevators were slow at peak times but otherwise everything was great. I definitely will be back!

The Residence Inn is very clean and in a very convenient location to most area attractions. Our room was well appointed with a lovely view and a very decent size for a NYC hotel room. The breakfast was also convenient and had many options. We would defiantly stay here again when visiting NYC!

Well, the bed pillows have body odor and need to be replaced. There was no clothing storage available except for a very narrow hanging closet. However, there is a kitchen area with pots and pans in the cupboard with no stove to cook on. Could that space have been better planned to provide additional clothing storage space? Glad we were only staying for 1 night. The included breakfast was better than expected. The room was a complete disappointment.

Corner room, NW corner, floor to ceiling windows, top floor (65th). No sun the morning, beautiful sunsets in the evening. Cream and navy decor. Beautiful.

The room was small but well organized/laid out. The bed was quite comfortable. Our only reservation is that the frig lacked a freezer. The multiple elevators were speedy. The range of breakfast servings was quite broad. The location was convenient to Central Park. Many dining options close by.

The room was very clean. All of the staff were great. Beds could have been more comfortable- too hard in my opinion. The subway and construction noise made it difficult to fall asleep and sleep in.

Perfect position and Lovely breakfast. The room had an amazing view but was quite small. We got some troubles : 1) first night the hotel fire alarm started at 03.30am, and the director started announcing to stay calm, checks in progress, don’t leave the rooms…..you can imagine…not easy to get sleep after 20 mins of this situation 2) 4 elevators but not enough to cover all guests needs. We were at the 56th floor and several times we had to wait more than 15 mins 3) the third night coming back after dinner the battery of the locker was empty, so after several trial they had to call a technician to change the battery and reset the door (almost 1 hour in total). Said that, as we have a baby of 11 months, has not been easy, but I believe they can improve the service. Need to say, I’ve got a discount of 100$ for the issues - appreciated.

The hotel is in a great location. Easy to get to many popular attractions and within easy walk of Broadway. The rooms are on the smaller side as a good amount of space is given up in the room to fit a kitchenette. Better use of the space would be to halve it and add a wardrobe or drawers for guests. The furniture has seen better days and I hope Marriot will be refurbishing soon. All in all though based on the cleanliness of the rooms, the great service in reception and it’s location, I would highly recommend this hotel. Especially if it’s your first time in NYC. Pay extra and reserve a Park view. I doubt there are many hotels that offer a view of both rivers and Central Park in this price bracket.

The view is spectacular, but our $500/night room had a window taped with green painter's tape to reduce the sound of the wind, and the mirror in the bathroom had a broken corner taped with duck tape.

We booked a Studio with 2 Double Beds, Non Smoking, Park View for 3 adults and one teen. We were in a corner room on the 47th floor, great views of the river and Central Park and the hotel is well located for visiting all the main attractions and for the subway. Guest laundry facilities were great and easy to use. However, that is where the positives end for us. When we arrived we were told the room was a “corner suite - one of the largest rooms we have” which I find really hard to believe. It was tiny even by New York hotel standards. There was no Kitchenette (hob) as advertised, (there was a microwave), the coffee maker was half full of water and coffee dregs from the last guests and there were dirty glasses in the dishwasher. Even if we had wanted to cook in the room there was no table or chairs to enable us to sit and eat (one desk chair and one arm chair). Additionally, the TV didn’t work when we arrived and a bulb was out in a bedside lamp - we waited about an hour for an engineer to come and fix these items. Overall the room felt not very well prepared for new guests. Throughout our stay, we had one day where only 3 towels were left and toiletries not replenished another where we were completely out of toilet roll and had to ask 4 times at the front desk to get some!! Also be aware lighting in corridors not great and walls painted a dark colour so the walk from lift to your room is a dark one. Overall a disappointing stay here.

Hotel was conveniently located to the theater. But no rooms with two beds made it difficult for the rest of our family to stay there as they only had king beds.

The room itself was great - tidy and good amenties. However, the delay to check in being to told to return a couple of times even though out arrival was at the check out time, and the wait for the lifts (sometimes up to 20 minutes) dampened our experience with this hotel.

The strawberry cucumber water in the lobby was a nice touch after a long day of walking. The room was very nice and well stocked with everything we needed, clean and the decor was nice.Although two elevators were not working out of the four they did the best they can during a holiday to pick everyone up off the floors when necessary. We just adapted and added more time to our day of getting to and from the room. Location was excellent. Easy to get to everything but not in the rift raft of Time Square. Easy walk to Central Park and to all the Broadway shows.

This stay was truly amazing! It was in the heart of Manhattan where it wasn’t too close to Times Square but only a 3-5 min walk into it! When we first arrived Frank upgraded us to the 65th floor with an amazing view! And Gen & Frank helped us out the whole time including remembered us daily and asked what we were up to. It was clean, the bellman was nice and having a complimentary breakfast helped budget as well. We will be staying again on our next trip

We appreciated the ability to leave our luggage here after checkout and enjoy the city. They also extended us a late checkout, which was super convenient.

We had a great stay. It was made even better by the service provided by Cyril at check-in. From room confirmation to understanding our needs, to making our daughters birthday in NY fantastic, He made our stay in New York a memorable one.

A week in NYC at the beginning of a journey to Europe & three days on the way back— both times at the Residence Inn on Broadway/54th, and both times superb. #1 asset is a well-trained staff (special praise for Cyril at the front desk!) who makes this feel like a small boutique hotel instead of the towering giant it is. Housekeeping is always impeccable, & they’ve reorganized the breakfast buffet to be un-chaotic, no small feat. The value of this buffet & its vast choices shouldn’t be underestimated. The rooms are comfy, super clean & functional with breathtaking views in every direction. Nice to have the kitchenette to make sure leftovers of memorable meals don’t go to waste! And the location couldn’t be better for walking & accessing other transportation, seeing shows & visiting museums, finding umpteen dining options & enjoying everything about NYC. Final classy touch is the availability of a competitively flat-rate black SUV waiting to take you to your airport on departure. If I could give 10 stars for everything, I would!

For a huge, towering hotel in one of the busiest areas of Manhattan, the Residence Inn is amazing. The staff is warm, personal and accommodating (typified by Cyril at the front desk). The rooms are large for Midtown Manhattan and filled with thoughtful details — big mirrors, ample drawers, hangers and shelves, iron/board, workspace, and a very nice kitchenette that means you can stash delicious leftovers and not have to eat out all the time (nice on a busy day). The facilities are in great shape thanks to devoted, speedy housekeepers. The buffet breakfast and late afternoon happy hour are remarkable. You can easily walk to most Broadway theaters, to MOMA, Central Park South and West, Lincoln Center and Rockefeller Center. The food and shopping options are plentiful. When you leave, the black SUVs favored by celebs are available for airport transportation, for a flat rate comparable to a cab ride. We stumbled onto this, and it’s become our go-to place in Manhattan a half-dozen delightful times.

We recently stayed at the Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Central Park and had an absolutely brilliant experience. The location is superb, just a short walk from all the major attractions in New York City, making it ideal for exploring everything the city has to offer. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and exceptionally clean, with breathtaking views overlooking the skyline and city below. Waking up to that view each morning was a highlight in itself. What truly made our stay memorable, however, was the exceptional service provided by Cyril at the front desk. From the moment we arrived, he went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. His warmth, professionalism, and genuine care added a personal touch that made all the difference. He was always ready with helpful suggestions and ensured every detail of our stay was perfect. Highly recommended, we wouldn’t hesitate to return!

Stayed here since it was close to an event I was attending so it was a convenient location and not too far by some other tourist attractions to visit. Lots of places nearby to grab a bite to eat as well which was nice. Overall it was a very nice hotel, staff was friendly, check in and out was easy. The breakfast buffet was a lovely room and had a nice spread which was nice. We had a nice view from high up on our floor, the bed was comfy and a working elevator the whole time. Would stay here again.

Great location for a city stay with easy access to transportation options including access to JFK Airport. Comfortable room with a panoramic city view and a breakfast buffet in the morning. I would stay here again if in NY.

Great hotel in excellent location while in Manhattan. Close to Central Park and easy walk to most other tourist areas such as Times Square.

For my first visit to NYC, this location was perfect! Central Park, Broadway, Time Square, Rockefeller Plaza, all within walking distance, as well as endless shopping and dining options. Just hop on the Subway if you wish to explore other pockets of this wonderful city!

I thought this place was great. Perfect location. Easy to walk around and very close to Central Park. The hotel is super tall which gives you a great view of the city.

We arrived a day later due to a cancelled flight that we communicated to Expedia (but was not forwarded to the hotel). The hotel was very accommodating and gave us an upgraded corner room with the most amazing view over Central Park and Manhattan! The hotel offers a hot breakfast buffet with changing options which was delicious! A minor downside is that only disposable dishes are used which on the other hand allows an easy take-away of drinks and snacks. All in all, the stay was awesome! Would highly recommend!

Great location, staff was lovely. Breakfast has lots of variety and plenty of seating, but the hot selection was not hot or even barely warm, and we were down for breakfast pretty early. I thought maybe they didn't have the bain-marie on high even to keep the food warm but then when they brought out more fresh home fries from the kitchen, they were cold too.

I think I've found my go-to hotel in NY. 10/10 hotel with incredible views. The breakfast options were great and the hotel is just a few blocks from Times Square. Will definitely recommend

The breakfast was hot, varied, timely, and delicious! If that’s important to you, this hotel is a very solid choice.

Clean room, free water and ice cream in lobby was a great touch. Breakfast wasn’t great (watery eggs, cold food, and burnt coffee every morning), but some prepackaged and fruit items worked. Everything else was perfect.

Great location for all the main attractions. Amazing staff and service. Unfortunately our shower door was not closing fully causing small flooding in the bathroom. Breakfast options were wide but not always tasty.
