Great location but had very little amenities. No ventilation in the room with only a window to spare during the heatwave. Lots of choice restaurants and cafes. Public transportation very accessible-subway is cheap and efficient. Rooms were a bit pricey.

Accommodation is basic but OK for a night, room spacious and clean but quite cold. I felt vulnerable as I was at the end of a downstairs corridor and the door lock was a Yale lock which couldn't be secured from the inside. Not great for a solo female traveller - probably wouldn't stay there again. Not GH's fault but parking also really difficult.

This is the 2nd time I have stayed at the guest house. The owners/ staff are pleasant & welcoming. Rooms have everything I need. Really good shower! Area is great for dining out & has a good range of cafes nearby. There is a pub/ bar across the road but area is still quiet. No on site parking but there are payment meters nearby if you need to use them

The hotel is a basic, no frills place, with no additional perks other than a place to stay. What I liked about it was that it was within walking distance of several major parks and university, with plenty of great places to eat and groceries close by. The two young people who took care of guests and housekeeping did their best, and were always kind. There is no heat in the summer, which means it is also very damp. My room had no air circulation and was cold and damp, with a strong mildew smell. It was in the basement, so highly recommend no one stay in the basement except for a very short stay. There was a window that could open into the dirty alley under the stairs, but that made the room colder and it can't be left open during the day or night. The age of the building makes it noisy, with creaking floors and the walls are thin.

I am 74 and they put me downstairs in the basement down long stsirs. There was a hole in the bathroom door. The sheets had old ink stains. There was 1 towel for 4 nights. No linen service.

Oh dear, where to start... The room was in the basement, dark and damp, especially in the bathroom. Hole in the wall, a dirty nailed up curtain blocked the light out. Rat pellets were in the cupboard. I don't know how it calls itself a three star hotel, when it doesn't provide breakfast. Ii like to patronise local businesses, but will not ever stay there again.

The room was spotless and the staff very friendly and helpful. Glasgow House is in such an ideal position, great for the restaurants, pubs, buses and underground on Great Western Road and a nice buzz about the area with the student population about.

Whilst the staff were pleasant, the rooms were very dated and dirty, mouldy bathroom and bugs crawling on bathroom floor, curtains that don't fit, wooden boxed bed bases that you kept cracking your toes on, curtains that don't fit the window the list is endless, and they had a cheek to take a £50 bond then check the room, hence to say it was cleaner when we left

Our room in the basement was quite dark and unpleasant. I saw a main floor room as we were checking out and it was of completely different caliber. It was chili and damp, heater wouldn't turn on. Bathroom was very clean though. The outside of the building does not at all match the photo online. The staff was wonderful, 6 stars for them!!!!

The mattresses were so terrible I can’t explain. You will be better sleeping on the floor. What I don’t understand is them people charging 10 pound extra if you check in late. I mean you’ve gotta be joking me . I have stayed in more than 500 hotels all over the world but never seen this sort of scam anywhere, fair enough if you check out late but checkin in late you pay extra too.All the best to the owners hope they make it big with all the extra tenners that they’ve been collecting.

For the price, it was okay as long as your room is not next to the creaky staircase. I woke up several times thinking a mice was in the roof. But it was just people going up and down the stairs. Room was cleaned everyday.

Was clean enough, very basic. Tea, coffee milk sugar etc provided. Soap and shampoo also on offer, very nice people friendly run. We were in room 8 there was a noise the entire time even overnight like a beat of music. Off putting to be honest. Worth the money at the end of the day.

I had an attic room which necessitated me banging my head or crouching as I moved around. The internet didn't work throughout. There was no air conditioning and no ventilation unless I opened the skylight. Given the age of the building they had made a noble effort to have it appear clean and in good condition. I suggest in future they give a warning for tall people before allowing them to book.

WiFi wasn't working and we both needed it for work meetings. Went to see if we could get it fixed, but were met with laziness, rudeness and a lack of care. It took almost an hour of pushing the staff to actually do something about the issue, before we were finally put in a room with WiFi. It wouldn't have been much of an issue if they had just been upfront and offered alternatives or a discount, but they didn't care and spent most of the time denying there was even an issue. Room smelled of urine. Only saving grace was the location.

The room was clean, but the bathroom left a lot to be desired. I could hear when others were using their washrooms, so a little embarrassing, and I couldn’t lock my door behind me. The lady who gave me my room key was very polite, but then was nowhere to be seen. I guess there must be a serious lack of hotel rooms in the west end of Glasgow, because I have a difficult time understanding how a property like this could remain in existence in any other situation. It’s a pity, because the location really is perfect.

Upon arrival was told the room wasn’t ready, however minutes later was told I could actually check in but for £10. Paid the fees and went up to the room - some amenities such as a kettle and coffee/tea etc but that’s about it. Bathroom was so dirty and there was a huge gap in the ceiling with a rope hanging down that went up to what I assumed was the roof. Felt a little unsafe. Woke up at 5am to loud talking, slamming doors etc, aswell as waking up absolutely covered in bug bites ( whether this was bed bugs I’m unsure but the general consensus was that they were ). Carpets were lifted around the skirting boards and although the stay was overall ok - there are some issues that made it a place I wouldn’t visit again.

Excellent location, near the university, couple of blocks from the subway, excellent bakery and coffee shop next door! Super friendly and attentive owners, comfortable, cool, and quiet room! Will stay here again!

Receptionist was very friendly, hotel is pretty old but is very handy for Kelvinbridge Subway station, shower was good and was good value for mamy for the location.

Used to live locally when I was a student so know the area well. There are some nice places to eat and have a coffee/drink nearby. Can be loud if students are out and about but from my room it was generally quiet at night. My room was compact but comfortable and I had everything I needed and the lady at reception was kind and willing to help get anything else I may have needed. Within easy walking distance of buses and subway. Would stay here again :)

Excellent location, close to subway and within walking distance from the direct city centre. Small but comfortable and clean room, with a nice shower and nice staff. Definitely a great value for money for short stays in the centre

We had a comfortable stay in a very convenient location, in the heart of the West End close to the subway, Kelvinbridge Park, shops, restaurants and the Botanic Gardens. The staff were always friendly and helpful.

Really nice room clean and spacious. Good options for food and drinks nearby very close to the subway station with links into the city centre also not far from the city centre either.

The room was spotless and the staff very friendly and helpful. Glasgow House is in such an ideal position, great for the restaurants, pubs, buses and underground on Great Western Road and a nice buzz about the area with the student population about.

Oh dear, where to start... The room was in the basement, dark and damp, especially in the bathroom. Hole in the wall, a dirty nailed up curtain blocked the light out. Rat pellets were in the cupboard. I don't know how it calls itself a three star hotel, when it doesn't provide breakfast. Ii like to patronise local businesses, but will not ever stay there again.
