The location was perfect for our stay in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The hotel was very nice, clean and quiet and yes upscale. However there was one very big wrinkle in our stay - the hotel lounge. The Wallace is a signature type hotel so it is not huge and relies on first class service. One would think that would include a petite lounge for its guests - not in this case. Apparently the lounge is run by a third party and as of late has become popular to locals; so much so that we found out at our arrival that we needed reservations for the lounge! Meanwhile my wife had called and was told about the lounge and the availability of small plates, but was never told about the need for a reservation! We weren’t the only guest facing this dilemma - multiple guests were in the lobby arguing with the front desk about the same issue. How do you allow non-guests to take preference over your own hotel guests for a drink at the lounge? Isn’t there also some sort of security issue when the lounge is occupied by people who aren’t spending the $600/night fee to stay at the hotel to begin with? Not a way to treat hotel ‘guests’.

I love everything about the Wallace. This was my third stay there, and it just keeps getting better! The rooms are beautifully done, proportions are great, and everything so clean and new. Nespresso machines and mini fridge. The gym is small but great, with peloton bikes. Every single person I’ve met on the staff has been wonderful in every way. They also are just opening their lounge downstairs with fabulous small plates and cocktails, and a beautifully designed space with fabulous ambiance. I believe the food/wine are done by a chef who has one of the best little Italian restaurants nearby (Salumeria Rossi), and the live music, with really good musicians… not to be missed. The only thing I regret is the fact that as more people know about this place it will be harder to get a reservation, and prices are already going up. But it is definitely my favorite new place to stay in a city I love.

Beautiful, modern, clean, spacious one bedroom - love the "hardwood" floors, comfortable bed, beautiful spacious bathroom, looks newly renovated including electric blinds, wonderful lighting options/switches. The only negative was we were there for 3 nights and no one came to clean the room or give fresh towels. Maybe they shared they don\'t do this unless asked? But anytime we asked for anything eg extra blanket, they were immediately on it. Excellent safe location walking distance to many restaurants and Central Park.

We have been coming to New York 5 or 6 times a year for 20 years to visit out daughters and this is the best hotel we have ever stayed at. The staff went out of their way to be both friendly and helpful. The hotel was immaculate from the lobby to the elevators and especially our room.

Lots of lovely features in this hotel and a good location. The room was quite small though - particularly for the price and that we were there for four days. It felt more like a room for one than two. The bed was very comfortable though and we slept well until woken in the morning. Worth noting that there was building work going on behind the hotel which for our room meant noise from 0730.

Amazing! The room wasn’t ready when we arrived, about 30 min past check in time, so they upgraded us! We booked a double queen and got upgraded to double queen suite. ALL staff were very friendly and accommodating. Room 401 and had a street view of 76th. It was so quiet at night. Couldn’t hear any other rooms except for doors closing, which, was no bother. Free bottles of water, pretzels, and granola bar stocked daily in mini fridge. Sheets and pillows were very nice. Huge, double head, shower. Near subway if you’re a subway rider. This is my favorite part of the city, so I like to be in a homey area vs nightlife. Will only stay here from here on out.

This is a lovely hotel and the Lounge and its food were great. Staff also were pleasant and helpful. Like many boutique hotels, the rooms were not the most comfortable. Ours was spacious, but the pre-programmed lighting was a pain—you couldn’t have the bedside lights on without the ceiling light being on, too and you couldn’t have just one bedside light on without all three lights on. I found the bed a little too soft. for my back, but that’s just me. Only one chair in the room so if you’re grabbing a takeout breakfast, etc. someone has to lie on the bed while they eat. Over all, it’s a great location and we were happy to be there in spite of my nit picky complaints.

Excellent!!! This hotel was fantastic!!! Great location in the Upper West Side. Room was fresh and large. Everything was automated including the shades. Shower was terrific offer both a rain shower and a standard shower head.

Our suite was terrific: clean, spacious, quiet, comfortable, and most of the staff were very friendly. Check-in was terrible. Check-in time is at 3pm and when we arrived at 3:05 we were told our room wasn't quite ready but that it would be ready in 10 minutes. Since it was supposed to be a short wait, we just sat down in the lobby. After 45 minutes had passed with no updates, I went to the desk to ask for an update as to when the room would be ready and was told to "Try being patient." We finally were able to go to our room at 4:00pm (an hour past check-in time). I understand that sometimes there are delays that can't be predicted or prevented, and had the front desk staff apologized for the delay and updated us once they knew it would be 4.5x longer than they'd initially told us, we would have put it down to annoyances that can't be helped and forgotten about it. But to be scolded for asking for an update after a 10-minute wait has turned into 45 (and a total wait of 55 minutes) cast a distinct pall on what would have otherwise been a perfect stay.

There a few minor shortcomings. My wife needs a couple of extra bath towels and my my requests for them had to be repeated each evening for the first half of our stay. Also, there is inadequate space on the bathroom sink area for toiletries. No room meal service.

Truly exceptional. Large, comfortable, well-appointed rooms. Lovely lounge in the lobby. But the staff were what really makes the Wallace wonderful. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I really loved staying there!

Everything about The Wallace was so easy. Staff was excellent and very friendly. Beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. Just around the corner from the Beacon Theatre in a safe, fun area. The lounge has a well-equipped bar with friendly and knowledgeable bartenders. Will definitely stay there again when seeing a show. This ins great hotel to stay in when in NY. Located on 76th upper west side it’s it’s quite and easy to get to. Great for visiting Columbia Uni or to stay away from the dreadful noisy, dirty, touristy mid two / Times Square.

Quiet residential area on Upper West Side. Nice oasis for tourists. Easy transportation with 72 St subway station. Plenty of gourmet grocery stores nearby as well. Don't miss Zabars and Citarella!

Favorite place to stay on the Upper West Side! A in everything!! The entire staff is kind and welcoming. The rooms are cozy and well appointed. Loved that I was upgraded to a junior suite when I decided to extend my stay. The lounge is a treat. The complimentary order of fries during happy hour is an added bonus. And they are deliciously crispy. An all around lovely experience!

An excelent surprise in NYC! We will definety make The Wallace our place to stay everytime we are back in town. Great service; brand new accomodations. No food services, but there is a lot afround the hotel so this is not an issue.
