Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shinmachi Bettei

First time in Japan and Kyoto was our first stop. We did not know what to expect and this exceeded our expectations. Would definitely stay here again! We didn’t even want to leave. We felt safe here and it was close to the station, restaurants, Family Mart! 100/10.

The hotel was very clean and quiet and beautifully kept. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. We did not use the onsen - I have a lot of tattoos and was not sure if that would be ok since I read mixed reviews about that. But we also were pretty busy, and the days were hot so it was hard to imagine going wanting to sit in hot water. I am sure I could have asked - most places in Kyoto did not mind the tattoos (including nice restaurants and temples). I was prepared to cover up if needed. We did not eat at the restaurant but it looked good! There were just so many choices nearby. It’s in a great location - very walkable to Nishiki market and other restaurants as well as Gion. A quick car or bus/train ride to places like Arashiyama as well! Close to the train station - you could walk with few bags or get a cab for cheap.

Fabulous hotel! Very well kept with a friendly and helpful staff, rooms are comfortable and spacy, breakfast was very testy. The most important is the hotel’s location! You can reach almost all major Kyoto attractions just walking. Thank you very much for the amazing hospitality.

The laundry room could have been more user friendly. There was no place to sit, only 4 machines for the entire hotel but I was so happy they were there! Breakfast was great.
