Riu Plaza New York Times Square

Breakfast was good, rooms were too small for 5 people. Elevators take 10 mins to come. Overall it was not worth the money. Though the location was prime.

Within a very short walking distance of Times Square and Broadway. Modern, clean facilities and room serviced daily, polite staff, incredible views from room (24th floor), extensive breakfast options which were well prepared and plentiful, although, can be busy and cramped at certain times of the morning. No tea/coffee facilities but the Grab and Go served nice coffee, drinks (alcoholic and non) and snacks.

TV didn’t work on arrival. Internet didn’t work on arrival. Breakfast facility was over crowded! I wouldn’t go there again!

Poor experience at breakfast every morning. Didn’t matter what time you arrived there were huge queues. Not an enjoyable experience. There was a very strong smell of cat urine on level 9. Lengthy queues for the lifts every time. Disappointing that there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Overall an average experience which is disappointing and the hotel is beautiful and in a great location.

Woke up mjddle night fire alarm for 45 min no directions every get down stair they tell us go back up. Didnt take any money off that night or ask breakfast credit or room redit at bar. They said its not our fault so we not crediing anything. It took hours for eveyone to get in there room.

Needed a hotel close to the Rodgers Theater - this was perfect! No parking available so used Spot Hero. Such a cute hotel, everyone was so friendly and loved the Grab & Go store food options.

The initial impression of this hotel is that it is well maintained. The lobby is clean, with many places to sit, rest rooms, a bar and small cafe. Check in was painless, except that i repeatedly had to request a receipt. I finally got it on the last day of our stay. The room was exactly as pictured on the web site. A somewhat see-through shower wall makes things a bit uncomfortable. We enjoyed our stay here. The breakfast was outstanding and the bell boys were extremely helpful. The biggest disappointment was that there was no ice machine in the building. We were told to go to the cafe for ice. Although there were three people staying in the room, they would only give us two small plastic cups of ice. Each time, I had to go to the front desk and ask them to for help to get the third glass of ice. This became extremely tedious. The location is perfect, most of the staff is courteous and hard-working, so if you can live without ice, this is a very nice hotel.

The hotel was in an excellent location. The rooms were modern and clean. The Fashion bar and Grab & Go were nice conveniences. The lack of a restaurant in the evening was our only disappointment.

Excellent customer service. Clean and close to time square. My only complaint is that there isn’t an ice machine anywhere in the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The breakfast was worth the price.

There were bedbugs present in my room. I have bites all over my feet. Hotel will not contact me to resolve this.

This was the cleanest hotel we’ve ever stayed in. The hotel staff was amazing! The room was comfortable, as was the bed and the breakfast buffet was phenomenal. We would stay here again any time we were in ANYC.

Our original room was not ready, there was just a mattress, no covers or anything. The front desk upgraded our room because of the inconvenience. The upgraded room had a dirty shower tub and the heat was not working so it was very cold at night.

Spotless rooms, fast lifts, great location and can be affordable as NYC hotels go. Incredible amount of great restaurants and bars just outside and minutes from Times Square and subway.

My room was clean and beautiful. I loved being on the 26th floor! What a view!

The hotel location was convenient and the included breakfast was good, so we chose it. However, our room’s AC didn’t work on a 90-degree day in NYC. After a couple of calls, the front desk sent someone who wasn’t a technician but just checked if we knew how to use the AC control. By 2 a.m., they gave up and said the repair would have to wait until the next day, which was very frustrating. The next day, a real technician confirmed the AC was broken and they told me to wait for the fix. I requested another room, but the front desk said I had to wait in the lobby with my luggage until cleaning was done afternoon, adding to my frustration. I spoke with the manager, Jose, who gave us a “better” room facing a different street and two $20 coupons for the hotel facilities. He also promised a refund for the night without AC, which I never received. Travelocity is still handling that dispute. This isn’t about the money—it’s about trust. I paid full price expecting all amenities to work. If you can’t provide proper service, maybe hospitality isn’t the right industry. I used one of the coupon for coffee the next morning after a disappointing weekend driving back home. Thanks for the Coffee!!

All staff that I interacted with were polite and the hotel lobby is beautiful. I had 2 problems. First was at check in, the agent didn’t know the address for parking. They asked another agent and I was given the wrong address. 2nd booked a room that had 2 double beds and pullout sofa to my surprise the room had a see through glass shower had to shower with the lights offs. Strange choice for a hotel room reccommended for families.

We stayed here over the weekend and had a great time! The Staff are incredibly friendly and focused on customer service. Great location as well! I saw a lot of people commenting on the size of the room. We’re a family of 3 (2 adults/1 teen) and found the size was perfect. The bathroom is spacious. The only complaint we had with the bathroom is that b/c the hotel has a modern look, the shared wall and doors to the bathroom are frosted glass. So basically when showering you can see the shadow of the person in the bathroom. We kept the light off in the bathroom to prevent this (but still awkward ). All in all, definitely a good time. Don’t let the shower be a game changer..just be prepared for it!

Room 819. Tv did not work properly

Nice hotel, modern, clean, but there were several factors that made it inconvenient and uncomfortable, such as: 1. Only ONE bedside electrical outlet for power while in bed. The other side of the bed only had USB charger ports but they did not work so they were useless. 2. The bathroom was modern but had frosted glass walls between the bathroom and bed, so when one is using the bathroom at night, there is no way to keep the light from lighting the entire room and bed/sleeping area. 3. The thermostat in the room was displaying Celsius, not Fahrenheit, so unless you know that system, you have no idea what the room settings are and how to adjust. There was no way to change the thermostat to F. 4. The hallways are all tiled, no carpets, so the noise in the hallway carries. With carpeting in the hallways the noise is better absorbed and less disturbing when in your room.

The breakfast was excellent With a lot of variety. Only problem was that the shower leaked and got the floor wet.

Booked a room for 5 people (3 adults, 2 kids). Beds were too small and we could barely fit one adult and one kid to one bed. If there would have been just 5 adults, we would have needed to ask for a bigger room. Beds were also smaller that described on their site/ hotels.com introduction.

Loud room (both outside and inside noise) without room-darkening curtains, so it's also pretty bright both at night and in the morning.

Excellent location for Times Square. Room small for a family of 4. No real room for luggage. Rooms so quiet, excellent sound proofing. Great view from our floor 21.. Air con great. Breakfast choice was good. Lifts did take some time, but once you know it’s fine.

Disappointing Stay – Will Not Return Unfortunately, our experience at Riu Times Square was very disappointing. The hotel felt cheap and extremely loud, making it hard to relax. The front desk staff were surprisingly rude and unhelpful throughout our stay. Definitely not the experience we expected. We will not be returning.

A clean modern hotel. Check in was slow, 15 minutes in a long line. No room until 4.40. Staff very efficient. Comfy bed. Pillows not great. Bathroom very functional. Breakfast, included in room rate, was a feeding frenzy with many options. Packed even at 10am when service stopped! Nice bar also a grab and go mini deli was helpful. If only it was a little less expensive!

I brought 2 of my grandkids who had never been to NY for a 2 day adventure. We got a fantastic room on the 25th floor with terrific view. Room was well appointed. I have stayed here 2 times before. Because the one child’s birthday was a few days ago the front gave him and his sister a sleeve of very nice chocolates which they loved. The bellman was very accommodating, holding our bags in 2 waves and arranging for a taxi at the needed time. The breakfast was delicious and well stocked. Overall a 10 out of 10.

Hotel has great location! Staff on the other hand, not so much. Security decided to stalk me and harass me about being a guest and even went as far as to tell me “this is my house” then proceed to ask me to leave. Although, I was in the process of checking out and waiting for my black truck driver to arrive. Thank god another employee intervened! I did not like that the toilets were not soft close. The aesthetics in the rooms are totally outdated! Heater was unable to heat room. Also, stay away from windows as they open inwards below waist level with a complete opening for whatever may pass through. Terrible concept remind you I was on the 16th floor. This was a totally step down from recently departed hotel. Which was MOXY East Village and The Hoxton! Complete cuts above from this RIU brand. I will never use their hotel again. Finally, the valet and parking situation was a distraer. There no one to park and the hotel also doesn’t have its own parking which is always a deterrent from any hotel that I chose to travel to for purposes of leisure. I never venture to hotels that do not provide the bare necessities of feeling like a home away from home. After all it is travel for pleasure!

First impressions of the hotel was that it was lovely, clean and well presented. Unfortunately, their poorly managed processes and some staff truly let down the standard of the hotel meaning that we won't be back here. Bellhop services lost our bags due to poorly managed luggage storage systems. We were also mistakenly told 3 times our bags were at our room. Reception staff were initially helpful but then others including the manager weren't helpful when trying to resolve and action a resort fee reversal. The initial resort fee transaction was voided due to a hotel processing issue, but was informed that this would not be released which could be 30 days. This is a common issue if you look at trip advisor so please book with caution and bare this in mind if booking. Breakfast was okay. A bit manic at times but the staff were well aware and had an okay process to support this. We are due to return to NYC as a family of 8 but wont be returning here due to the many issues experienced being such a source of frustration and disappointment.

Our family of five just finished an incredible stay at the RÍU Plaza New York, and it reminded us exactly why the RÍU brand continues to be top tier for us. Finding a hotel in NYC that comfortably fits a family of five is almost impossible these days, yet RÍU delivers with spacious rooms, thoughtful layouts, and amenities that truly make traveling with kids easier. The free breakfast was absolutely off the charts — huge selection, fresh, well-run, and a massive value when you're feeding five people in Manhattan. It set the tone every morning and really elevated the entire stay. The only downside was an interaction with the manager at the on-site Fashion Bar. Her approach to simple guest questions came across as skeptical and guarded, almost as if she’s been burned too many times. It didn’t match the warm, guest-first attitude we’ve consistently experienced with the RÍU brand. It wasn’t enough to ruin the stay, but it was the one moment that didn’t feel like RÍU. Overall, the RÍU Plaza New York remains one of the best family-friendly options in the city, and we’ll absolutely be back.

Clean hotel and nice staff

Everything was fabulous! We got in early so dropped our bags off earlier in the day and got our tickets to retrieve them later after check in time. When we arrived later, Mery checked us in and was so extremely helpful. She was very thorough, detailed, and answered our questions before we could even ask them. She was extremely polite and mailed a postcard for us (we provided the stamp). I'm not picky, I don't need anything fancy, just a bed and a nice place overall. My adult daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights in October and this was a perfect location for everything near Times Square and Broadway. The Bellmen will even hail a cab for you or suggest private car service for a fee or Uber. For the city, it was extremely quiet. Of course in any hotel you'll hear noise like other guests closing doors but aside from that this was quiet. No concerns with the bed or AC and I like a cool room. As many reviews mentioned yes, the frosted glass in-between the bathroom and bedroom is a little interesting but if you just look away when the person's showering, it's not a big deal. The only con I would say is the bathroom light is pretty bright as far as shining thru the frosted glass if someone is still sleeping. A lot of people made comments about the breakfast and how busy it was but it's New York, it'll be busy anywhere you go. It was organized in a fast, New York way when you have droves of people coming in at all times so I think they did great! Would definitely stay again!

We always love staying @RIU when we come to NYC. The staff is all kind and helpful. Shout out to Mery checking us in. My only issues were the keys didn't work for the elevator 3 trips to the front desk. Then the room key didn't work another trip to front desk. The food in dining room was luke warm. I don't know how you fix that? Coffee hot with warm milk. Thanks

Riu is now our future go to for NY Broaway trips.

Amazing stay for 2 nights with the family. Comfortable room and sofa bed, spacious bathroom. Really good breakfast buffet and location is right in heart of midtown. Can easily walk to Times Square, Central Park and rockerfeller center. Would highly recommend staying here.

Very new hotel in a fantastic location- steps from the theater district, and great restaurants on the same block as the hotel.

A friendly check-in, comfortable stay, and easy check-out. The Hotel Riu Times Square is right on Restaurant Row, and within walking distance to everything you want to see and do in Midtown

This location is perfect for doing Broadway shows. A quick walk to Rockefeller plaza and times square. Loved everything about this hotel

Very nice property close to theaters and Times Square. Relatively easy to get to, but be sure you don’t have your cab or Uber take you to the other Riu hotel in the area like we did. Not a long walk but different location

Times Square traffic is crazy. Parking is a challenge. Otherwise, it’s my first choice for a weekend trip to NYC to see a show. The breakfast is also crazy! Crazy Good 😊.

Wonderful location for Broadway shows & being close to Times Square. Breakfast gets a long queue, but staff is very efficient and handled it well.

Centrally located hotel. Clean and fresh. Excellent breakfast, fresh berries, vegetables, yogurt, nuts, apricots, bacon, scrambled eggs, different types of bread, donuts, etc. Fast service by friendly staff. A bit hard beds. We slept 2 adults and two teenagers in a double room with a sofa bed. Pushed the double beds together, 1.35 cm wide and slept 3 in them. The sofa bed quite short. No possibility to make tea/coffee in the room. Recommended.

Breakfast is included in the package. I ate one of the two days. On the day I ate, I took a croissant to eat later. A team member met me at the elevator to tell me that I could not take it and pretty much hi fived another member as if they did something great. Very unprofessional and bad taste. You are going to throw it away. I feel robbed at this point. Give me my money back for the day I didn't eat????

Hotel is great central location, very clean and friendly staff. Bed was big and comfortable. Breakfast had a lot of choice, although was obviously busy during peak times so maybe get up early if you don’t want to wait
