This hotel surprised me. On a trip that took me to three different countries and six different hotels, my expectations for Hotel Basecamp when booking it weren't that high. But it exceeded expectations. It ended up being the nicest room on the trip. It was a very spacious room that had great lighting features and a really beautiful functional design (e.g., ledges on each side of the bed for your stuff along with USB A and C ports as well). There was excellent storage, a very nice bathroom with a great shower that actually closed properly, a steady hot water supply, and a nice big TV. The negatives? No fridge, no 24/7 front desk (I think the main property door was locked and front desk unmanned after 8 PM), and they use a physical key vs. card for the room doors. But the biggest negative was that the check-in was lengthy and cumbersome as I had to fill out multiple data screens (divulging more personal information than I thought was necessary) on an iPad. I didn't have to do that for the Italian hotels or the hotel in Lucerne, yet they said it was a Swiss requirement.

Everyone who worked at the property was very nice and friendly, gave lots of recommendations and helped us plan our visit to Zermatt. Very walkable into town, also provides a shuttle to and from the train station. We loved the place so much we ended up extending our trip!

Basecamp was comfortable and quiet. The bar/lounge and breakfast buffet were perfect for the start and end of our days. The staff was very helpful and kind. Would stay here again!

The Basecamp is great. You can walk to the ski bus in about 10 minutes. We stayed 3 nights and they picked us up from the train and took us back via their shuttle which made coming and going easy. The room was extremely dry and very warm. The beds were okay. We were 4 adults in a four person room. The top bunks are very hard to get in and out of and the ladder a little tough. Would be great for small children but difficult for adults. The staff was really nice, especially the lady who checked us in and helped us navigate the skiing and town of Zermatt, which would have been very difficult in the skiing part. . The breakfast was also good. We had a wonderful trip.

Absolutely fantastic hotel!! The staff was so incredible welcoming, friendly and made us feel at home. They suggested things to do in the area as well as restaurants, and made sure we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was so yummy several choices and really high quality food, especially the scrambled eggs was so delicious. The whole family’s favorite at the breakfast. They had local wine in the bar and several other choices. Our room was very spacious with one queen bed and one bunk bed. The room was very well planned fresh, clean and tidy. Down pillows and comforters. An absolute pleasure to stay at this hotel.

I love the town of Zermatt. The location of the hotel was perfect with a magnificent view of the Matterhorn. I cannot say enough about the staff. The ladies at the dinning room that take care of the breakfast are friendly and accommodating. They make you eggs to order.. The housekeepers are absolutely amazing and the room is very clean. The front desk attendants were always friendly professional and always willing to help and give recommendations. When you map the hotel on Google maps go the longer way on the main road take a left at the church…the way the GPS takes you runs you into a steep hill of cobble stones not good if you are trying to roll a suitcase. I had a travel backpack but if you have a suitcase that’s a tip for you.

We truly enjoyed our time here! As soon as we arrived, the staff got us into our room and they were so kind! The room and view were beautiful, breakfast was excellent, the hotel was super clean and beautifully furnished! We will absolutely be coming back!

Wow! We have loved all our stops, but what do you say about a place that is very clean, has a huge room, large bathroom AND a balcony that looks directly at Matterhorn?!! I say that we will be back. Rebecca at the desk was so helpful. She got us checked in quickly, gave us our key (a real key. You’ll understand it fits the whole vibe) and we were quickly off to walk around town. The hotel has a family run feel and I should have asked. Or maybe it says and we were just too busy having fun to notice. Rebecca was also very helpful in getting us information about skiing and made reservations at a fondue restaurant for us. I will say that everything in Zermatt is expensive so don’t let the price, alone, turn you off. This hotel and the town are so cool. It is definitely worth the small splurge. Breakfast is also included and quite good. Can’t wait to get back!

The room had an amazing view of the Matterhorn, and the bathroom had a glass ceiling that allowed me to see the stars and part of the mountains while showering. The staff, the breakfast, and the location were great. I will definitely come back here on my next trip to Zermatt.

Great stay in this hotel for a group of 4 friends. It was clean, near the city center, and had a great view of the Matterhorn and other mountains from the balcony. Wish I was able to spend more time in Zermatt and in this hotel.

This is a well-run, excellent value prop, good-location home base for skiing. Guests need to balance the exceptional view of the Matterhorn against the iffy shower arrangement when the bathroom portion of the suite is tucked under the sloping roof. The entire staff is gracious and on task.

I stayed at Hotel Basecamp for a short ski weekend. I loved the location which was in a quiet neighborhood just steps from a major crosstown street. It was easy to walk to all parts of Zermatt and then return to the hotel without getting lost. Plus there were multiple restaurants nearby. Being on the east side of the river going through town allowed my room to have full unobstructed views of the Matterhorn. Waking up and sitting on the balcony while listening to the church bells echo across the valley with the Matterhorn as a backdrop was truly magical. The included breakfast was substantial and allowed me to save money by only needing to pay for one additional meal per day… though I was tempted by all the wonderful restaurants in Zermatt, one can only eat so much! The room itself was large with room to spread out, clean and comfortable. The furnishings perhaps a little dated, but the bed was comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. This will be my first choice for lodging if I ever make it back to Zermatt.

Hotel Basecamp was a wonderful place to stay. We arrived after closing and the staff had arranged for us to have an easy self-check in. Unfortunately, I was not feeling well during our one-night stay and the staff was happy to allow us a late check out, knowing I needed a bit more rest. Everyone who worked at the property was very nice and friendly, gave lots of recommendations and helped us plan our visit to Zermatt. Very walkable into town, also provides a shuttle to and from the train station. We loved the place so much we ended up extending our trip!

Wow! We have loved all our stops, but what do you say about a place that is very clean, has a huge room, large bathroom AND a balcony that looks directly at Matterhorn?!! I say that we will be back. Rebecca at the desk was so helpful. She got us checked in quickly, gave us our key (a real key. You’ll understand it fits the whole vibe) and we were quickly off to walk around town. The hotel has a family run feel and I should have asked. Or maybe it says and we were just too busy having fun to notice. Rebecca was also very helpful in getting us information about skiing and made reservations at a fondue restaurant for us. I will say that everything in Zermatt is expensive so don’t let the price, alone, turn you off. This hotel and the town are so cool. It is definitely worth the small splurge. Breakfast is also included and quite good. Can’t wait to get back!

The hotel was placed not far away from the center of village with the easy access to the main ski lifts. The room was very nice, spacious enough and very clean. The breakfast was full of variety of foods for everyone. Overall, it was a pleasure to stay there for several days. Definitely recommend ed.

I stayed at Hotel Basecamp for a short ski weekend. I loved the location which was in a quiet neighborhood just steps from a major crosstown street. It was easy to walk to all parts of Zermatt and then return to the hotel without getting lost. Plus there were multiple restaurants nearby. Being on the east side of the river going through town allowed my room to have full unobstructed views of the Matterhorn. Waking up and sitting on the balcony while listening to the church bells echo across the valley with the Matterhorn as a backdrop was truly magical. The included breakfast was substantial and allowed me to save money by only needing to pay for one additional meal per day… though I was tempted by all the wonderful restaurants in Zermatt, one can only eat so much! The room itself was large with room to spread out, clean and comfortable. The furnishings perhaps a little dated, but the bed was comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. This will be my first choice for lodging if I ever make it back to Zermatt.

I love the town of Zermatt. The location of the hotel was perfect with a magnificent view of the Matterhorn. I cannot say enough about the staff. The ladies at the dinning room that take care of the breakfast are friendly and accommodating. They make you eggs to order.. The housekeepers are absolutely amazing and the room is very clean. The front desk attendants were always friendly professional and always willing to help and give recommendations. When you map the hotel on Google maps go the longer way on the main road take a left at the church…the way the GPS takes you runs you into a steep hill of cobble stones not good if you are trying to roll a suitcase. I had a travel backpack but if you have a suitcase that’s a tip for you.

This was the best hotel we have stayed at during our 3 week Swiss vacation. The staff was very nice, super friendly, and helpful, especially the lady working the front desk each day. The breakfast was very good and organzied every morning and it spoiled us, none of our other hotels offered the same. The room itself was beautiful and very spacious. We had a skylight in the shower and a balcony overlooking the Matterhorn. I loved the laundry service. Yes it was extra but very worth it, they washed it in the morning and by the time we came back from exploring our clean laundry was in our room and folded. I would stay at this hotel again and next time longer. Thank you!

They suggested things to do in the area as well as restaurants, and made sure we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was so yummy several choices and really high quality food, especially the scrambled eggs was so delicious. The whole family’s favorite at the breakfast. They had local wine in the bar and several other choices. Our room was very spacious with one queen bed and one bunk bed. The room was very well planned fresh, clean and tidy. Down pillows and comforters. An absolute pleasure to stay at this hotel.
