We got upgraded room as it was available. The staff were very nice and helpful. Keep in mind if you are driving, the parkade is off site and costs around €45 depending on the size of your vehicle per night.

The initial arrival at the Palazzo Doria Napoli was a bit of a surprise as it is tucked away on the first floor of a building that doesn't look like a hotel. But once you get inside... WOW! I have been traveling in the US, Europe and Asia for 3 decades and this hotel was one of the most special and beautiful experiences I have had and that includes staying in a castle in Scotland and an imported house from Bali that used to belong to David Bowie on a private island in the Caribbean. Every room at the Palazzo Doria Napoli is astonishing and the property is breathtaking. It is carefully cared for and managed by a small staff (husband and wife?) who are very friendly, attentive and accommodating. The property doesn't have things like bell-staff or bar-staff but a lively night life can be found literally steps from the property and the breakfast was generous and delicious. If you want to experience 18th century Royal Italian living...

How often do you have the opportunity to stay in a palace? This was absolutely amazing. For us, a once in a lifetime experience! We visited Napoli in January, so the weather was comfortable and the museums were not crowded. The Palace is historic. Garibaldi greeted crowds in the piazza outside in 1861 while standing on the balcony of the room which is now where you have a delicious breakfast. Amazing to stand there and imagine the excitement of unification! The Palace is filled with gorgeous huge chandeliers made of Murano glass, monumental paintings, royal furniture. There is an incredible vintage marionette installation. The beds are comfortable and the temperature was perfect, not too hot, and we were given a fan for ventilation and comfort. Great walk-in shower! The Palace is perfectly located with an entrance to Spaccanapoli nearby and is a short walk to the magnificent Archeological Museum (which has been greatly improved under its new director). The Dante metro station is close by, where one can take a bus to the Capodimonte. Taxis are available and plentiful. Cost to the central station is about 20 euros plus baggage. The front desk is one person. He likes to know exactly when you arrive so he can meet you downstairs and bring you inside. After that, entrance is easy and there is a lift. I would return in a heartbeat! Magnificent experience! I want to read their historical picture books.

Such a unique and exquisitely restored building! It is beautifully decorated in time period appropriate furnishings with no detail missed. You should stay here for a night just to enjoy the hotel. There are plenty of common areas for socializing, whether reading a book, enjoying a good conversation, drinking with friends, or playing pool. However, while the accommodations are well kept, the surrounding area needs a little TLC. It is a very lively area with much shopping and a lot of restaurants, but many of the nearby buildings are run down, graffiti-clad, and littered. Sidewalks are packed and the night life goes to early in the morning. We did not have a problem sleeping as the sound was muffled once you close the second set of doors going out to the balcony. The B&B leaves ear plugs next to the bed in case you are a light sleeper. Note that you must coordinate your arrival beforehand so that someone can come down and let you in when you arrive. After that, you will be given a code for the door to the building, which is actually a small door inside the giant front doors. Then, you need a key card to take the elevator to the 1st floor (the ground floor is 0). And, lastly, you will get keys to open the door to your room. You will need the room key both when you open the door to get in AND to open it to get out. And, we found out the hard way, you will lock yourself in the bathroom if you don’t bring the keys in there with you!

It is a dream hotel and looks exactly like pictures. The front door looks like a parking garage entry with a small pedestrian door inside, located right off the traffic circle. We texted the hotel as requested and they came to collect us. It’s in a very walkable area and there’s a bus stop right outside that goes to the airport, etc. The hotel itself is drop dead gorgeous with chandeliers in every room and more art and history books to browse than you could possibly get through. Everything from the check in desk to the beautifully ornate breakfast room including a bust of garibaldi, the full bar “salon”, the coffee “salon” is stunning. The breakfast itself included pastries, fresh fruit galore, yogurts, cereals, eggs, bacon, cheese and meat, toast and fresh juice with coffee anyway you like. The bedroom was exactly as pictured on the website and the bed was very comfy with heat and a/c. Staff was helpful, friendly and kind. We left our luggage the last day after checkout for a few hours no problem. No notes. LOVED our stay.

Renovated former palace. Only 6 rooms . Elegant breakfast area with excellent food. Pricey but the over all excellence of the property, helpful staff and excellent location were worth it. The entrance could be better marked when first arriving. Had to walk a few doors down to ask where the entrance was. After that it was easy.

Great place to stay but know there are 2 other hotels w similar names in the building on different floors. Make sure you have the number for the correct one because they initially have to come down to get you. We called the wrong one. Someone came down and said he didn’t have reservations for us and explained the situation. We called the correct # and someone came down, brought keys and an electronic card and showed us how to get in. The inside is as the pictures on their website show a true palace. You feel as if you are in a different era w 25/30 foot ceilings w enormous Venetian glass chandeliers in every room and frescos on walls and ceilings.

This is basically a B&B but in a Palace with historical connotations. Arrival is somewhat difficult without a key to the entry courtyard lift, where the "hotel"" itself is on the 2nd floor. The rooms are sumptuous, particularly the Breakfast room. However you are on your own for any other services.

WOW. Honestly what can I say? This hotel was purely amazing. Steeped in History, not many people can say they have stayed in a Palace of significance for Naples. Felt like a King for those 3 nights and my wife felt like a Queen. What a perfect place to stay for a honeymoon. The hotel staff were incredible, the cleaning staff were sensational. Everything was tip top! The balcony overlooking the Naples streets were beautiful. I really do not need to say anything else, see it for yourself and hit that book button!! Grazie from Australia. Palazzo Doria is a highly unusual and delightful hotel. The decor is quite extraordinary (the photos do not lie); it is in an historic building - for example, Garibaldi addressed a crowd from one of the balconies; the public rooms are outstanding. It really is a 'palazzo' and it has been lovingly cared for and sensitively restored/modified to make it a comfortably hotel. And the staff are truly delightful. Over the years wife and I have stayed in most of the best hotels in Naples and Palazzo Doria, in my opinion, knocks spots off the rest. As others have mentioned, the rooms are noisy, due to the busy streets and the historic nature of the building - but earplugs solve this minor problem and the compensations hugely outweigh this little issue. We regretted staying for only 1 night at the end of a holiday; when we next visit Naples, we will stay in this hotel. First class.

a spectacular property inside the walls. our room was massive with 2 balconies, a spectacular chandelier, amazing art on the ceiling and walls, large sitting area and a bathroom the size of most hotel rooms. Very comfortable to say the least. the other common rooms are similarly palatial with art and sculptures, etc. just amazing to walk around. but the location is noisy all night with vehicle traffic going by non-stop.

You are literally staying in a palace. Other than at breakfast, we never saw another guest. The entire property is stunning. Rooms are huge with 18’ ceilings. Breakfast was fresh and beautiful. Location may be the best in the city. At the center of everything. Naples is a loud bustling city that never sleeps. When you shut the 4” thick wood doors over the window, the room becomes dark and quiet. We slept great every night. I will absolutely stay here again when I return to Naples.

Stay here if you want to feel like you are Italian royalty! My wife and I stayed here and we absolutely loved it. Fantastic location. Amazing staff, delicious breakfast. Incredible room, fantastic breakfast room, what more could you want?!? 10 stars!!!

If you go to Naples, you must stay at the Palazzo Doria Napoli!! It’s like a mini Versailles, absolutely amazing. Our room had the most beautiful fresco on the ceiling, super high ceilings, a gorgeous bathroom, totally surpassed our expectations. The hotel is on the second floor of this grand old building. You will have to call when you are at the door and someone will come down and get you. Daniele was wonderful, and he makes great cappuccinos! Nice breakfast, too. We loved this place.

The room was a good size with nice touch of the minibar was included which has soft drinks and also beers and some snack food. The bathroom was rather small and dated and non-luxurious compared to the rest of the room. The room was generally quiet as it was looking into the courtyard rather than onto the street. Rest of the accommodation was also very luxurious with lots of chandeliers, billiard room and a bar/ reading room, all had a beautifully decorated interior . The highlight was the large breakfast room with the three chandeliers which made it an absolute gem of room with the beautiful painted ceiling with views out to the main road contrasting the serenity of the inside to the hussle of the outside. Breakfast which runs between eight and 11am. A disappointing first experience, when we first arrived 9am on the first morning; and they had no scrambled eggs and had run out. It wasn’t just the eggs, a number of items needed to be replenished but was not. Highly disappointing, considering that they had another two hours, of breakfast to get through. The coffee was at a good standard and generally the food was good at breakfast if adequately replenished once it ran out.

As the other reviews indicated, a truly exceptional palace. Magnificent. Huge room. Breakfast area is sureal. The breakfast itself is excellent. It is as though they took over a museum. It is nicer than many museums of palaces I have visited. A truly unique experience. The people are lovely. The only negative is the wifi, which is weak, but a small price to pay for such an exceptional experience.

This place is truly a palazzo! The rooms are unlike any I’ve ever stayed in. The artwork, furnishings and public areas are akin to being in a museum. That being said, the room was comfortable and airy. A wonderful breakfast spread was supplied. Drawbacks: it felt slightly understaffed. A few times I went to the desk and there was nobody around. The staff I met were all friendly and helpful. Also the area is central to the historic district, which means two things: it’s crazy noisy (the hotel supplied earplugs!) and convenient to most of the great Neapolitan sites and food.

Palazzo Doria is a highly unusual and delightful hotel. The decor is quite extraordinary (the photos do not lie); it is in an historic building - for example, Garibaldi addressed a crowd from one of the balconies; the public rooms are outstanding. It really is a 'palazzo' and it has been lovingly cared for and sensitively restored/modified to make it a comfortably hotel. And the staff are truly delightful. Over the years wife and I have stayed in most of the best hotels in Naples and Palazzo Doria, in my opinion, knocks spots off the rest. As others have mentioned, the rooms are noisy, due to the busy streets and the historic nature of the building - but earplugs solve this minor problem and the compensations hugely outweigh this little issue. We regretted staying for only 1 night at the end of a holiday; when we next visit Naples, we will stay in this hotel. First class.

Air conditioning stopped working on multiple nights. Card to operate the elevator did not work one evening when returning from dinner, therefore we could not access our floor. We had to wait for someone to come from outside to get us access to our room. We were expecting a much better experience.

I strongly recommend staying at Palazzo Doria Napoli. The hotel is an experience unto itself. It was conveniently located (short taxi ride from the airport and to the central train station), including walking distance to restaurants, grocery store, and shopping. The rooms were incredibly clean, decadent, and stylish. The staff were responsive and offered helpful recommendations for dining, and navigating locally.

Such a unique and exquisitely restored building! It is beautifully decorated in time period appropriate furnishings with no detail missed. You should stay here for a night just to enjoy the hotel. There are plenty of common areas for socializing, whether reading a book, enjoying a good conversation, drinking with friends, or playing pool. However, while the accommodations are well kept, the surrounding area needs a little TLC. It is a very lively area with much shopping and a lot of restaurants, but many of the nearby buildings are run down, graffiti-clad, and littered. Sidewalks are packed and the night life goes to early in the morning. We did not have a problem sleeping as the sound was muffled once you close the second set of doors going out to the balcony. The B&B leaves ear plugs next to the bed in case you are a light sleeper. Note that you must coordinate your arrival beforehand so that someone can come down and let you in when you arrive. After that, you will be given a code for the door to the building, which is actually a small door inside the giant front doors. Then, you need a key card to take the elevator to the 1st floor (the ground floor is 0). And, lastly, you will get keys to open the door to your room. You will need the room key both when you open the door to get in AND to open it to get out. And, we found out the hard way, you will lock yourself in the bathroom if you don’t bring the keys in there with you!

We texted the hotel as requested and they came to collect us. It’s in a very walkable area and there’s a bus stop right outside that goes to the airport, etc. The hotel itself is drop dead gorgeous with chandeliers in every room and more art and history books to browse than you could possibly get through. Everything from the check in desk to the beautifully ornate breakfast room including a bust of garibaldi, the full bar “salon”, the coffee “salon” is stunning. The breakfast itself included pastries, fresh fruit galore, yogurts, cereals, eggs, bacon, cheese and meat, toast and fresh juice with coffee anyway you like. We absolutely LOVED our stay, wish we had stayed here longer. The hotel and rooms are stunning. It was in the city so with the shutters open you could here the street but at night we closed the shutters and had a great dark and quiet room. VERY convenient to the downtown shopping and Spanish quarters. Loved that we stayed in a historic building, we did a walking tour and our guide talked all about it. You should definitely book your stay here!

We loved the palazzo, which is an amazing building and surpassed our high expectations. All staff were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed this stay so much that we plan to return. Imme served us very well at breakfast and made it a very pleasant experience.

As the other reviews indicated, a truly exceptional palace. Magnificent. Huge room. Breakfast area is sureal. The breakfast itself is excellent. It is as though they took over a museum. It is nicer than many museums of palaces I have visited. A truly unique experience. The people are lovely. The only negative is the wifi, which is weak, but a small price to pay for such an exceptional experience.

We felt like we were staying in a castle! Gorgeous hotel, amazing staff, and such an incredible experience staying in this hotel. Don’t go there an expect modern amenities, but go for the amazing breakfast and beautiful hotel! One of the coolest places we’ve ever stayed! The only thing missing is a view of the water!
