Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto-Kiyomizu Gojo

This was our first time in a Sotetsu property and the first thing that my wife mentioned after we hit our room was that this was a really upscale place. The property has quite a few things going for it - it's in a really great location, has a ton of amenities, and has a very attentive and helpful staff. First off, the property is in a really nice location just between the Gojo station on the Karasuma line and the Kiyomizu gojo station on the Kintetsu line. This means you can easily reach most destinations in and around Kyoto and even beyond (like Nara). It is also easily walkable to Kiyomizudera temple and even the Sanjo/Shijo shopping area. As for the property itself, it offers a ton of amenities. We're talking sunscreen, all sorts of tea/coffee, face masks, shoe polish, etc. - way beyond your standard soap/lotion and slippers. There are also additional items for free rental such as clothes irons, power adapters, umbrellas. The room itself was a bit on the small side compared to stateside but it was manageable. Note that there isn't a microwave in the room, though you do get a mini fridge. Another thing to note is that the water pressure in the restroom is superb, and apparently they use filtered water throughout the entire hotel. Finally, the staff is very courteous and helpful whether in Japanese or English. Check in/out is super simple and they'll gladly hold your luggage before and after you stay. Overall a superb place for a reasonable price in Kyoto!

飯店附近有公車、地鐵，很方便；一樓有提供各種盥洗備品，房間內提供的吹風機、電熱水器、空氣清淨機與加濕器，都是很高街的品牌及產品型號。 以及，在飯店的裡面(我記得是3樓)，也有自動販賣機、微波爐、洗衣機、烘乾機，這部分非常加分，甚至可以直接透過房間內電視，了解洗衣機的使用狀況，人不用專程跑到三樓去做查看。 還有非常用心、值得一提的是，日本的水，除非有特別標記不可飲用，大部分的水是可以直飲的，但飯店還有額外再把水做過潔淨，仔細喝水，口感的確不一樣。 櫃檯人員非常有禮貌，接待服務時也很專業、細心，讓我在忙碌的出差行程中，得到很好的關心和照顧，非常地感謝他們所有團隊，下一次來京都，我會再回來這裡，新年快樂！謝謝！💝💝💝💝💝

Good location, less than 5 min walk to the Dojo subway station. Staff is nice. Hotel has on-site coin operated washer/dryer. Good dining options and grocery stores nearby. Rooms on the smaller side but that's to be expected at this price point

All the washing machines stopped functioning because they ran out of laundry detergent and only an outside company can refill it. Room felt small however they gave me complementary breakfast for the entirety of my stay.

Hotel daily breakfast's menu is of good varieties. Walkable to subway. Near convenient store. Strong shower water pressure. Good & generous supplies of amenities to choose from. Rental of hair styling tools - no charge. Friendly staff. Cons - less storage space for clothes.

The hotel itself was great. It's located in a quiet part of Kyoto, and is equal distance between two stations for different train lines (Gojo and Kiyomizu-Gojo). There's a 24-hour supermarket close by, which was convenient. The staff were great and the room was clean, tidy and felt spacious. The only downside is that there were only 3 washing machines for the whole hotel and they were constantly in use. But otherwise, the experience was great.

I’m glad they let us leave our luggage at the hotel 1hr before our check in time so we can explore kyoto a bit. My husband and I enjoyed our room because it was so spacious, clean and comfortable. The AC worked very well for us and everything in our room made the experience great. This hotel is about a 8 minute walk from the nearest train station and approximately a 15-20 minute walk to the popular shopping and market. So if you don’t mind walking or taking the train, then this hotel is a great option. My husband and I mainly walked and used the trains to get around so it was very convenient for us. If your looking for a hotel I recommend this one.

The only issue we had was the laundry service. There is only 3 units in the entire hotel and they take too long to do a load. Also, some guests leave their finished laundry in the machines leaving them unusable until you call the front to empty the machine.

Modern property, microwave etc nearby, vending machines convenient. Local store provided nice fresh food option.

Friendly staff. The slippery duvet cover (which was kind of dirty) flat sheet combination was uncomfortable to sleep in. Wish they'd use only a simple cotton cover.

The room was clean but one of your cleaner decided to leave the used towels on a floor instead of collecting them

I'm a frequent traveler to Japan and usually stay at business hotels. I've been to other Sotetsu's, and can honestly say that this is perhaps the best Sotetsu that I've stayed at so far. Excellent English speaking and attentive staff. Excellent breakfast. Nice clean rooms. Great location. Highly recommend to businesses travelers or those within budget of this category of hotel.

Friendly and helpful staff. Consistent standard with the other two sotetsu hotels we stsyed in this trip but room is rather smaller. Breakfast selection could be better with more variety. Overall a pleasant stay.

You might want to consider that the windows are tinted and you won’t be able to open them either. Staying here felt like being in a box since there was no view or fresh air whatsoever.

Rooms were clean and bit more spacious compared to the last hotel we stayed at. Staff was very helpful and understood/communicated in English. The bed wasn't comfy, felt really hard. I had trouble sleeping the last few nights of our stay. Overall, good walking distance to Nishiki market and everywhere really. Lots of walking involved.

Room size is bit smaller than expected

Sehr freundliches, hilfsbereites und sehr gut englisch sprechendes Personal. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und von der Größe her ausreichend. Die Lage ist gut, es lässt sich vieles zu Fuß erreichen und ansonsten sind öffentliche Verkehrsmittel nicht weit entfernt. Einziges Manko waren die Lautstärke von draußen, dass sich kein Fenster öffnen ließ und der miserable Wifi - Empfang. Das Frühstück war, für meinen Geschmack, etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber dies ist ja immer eine individuelle Sache.

Everything was very clean, the service of the employees was superb. Two dislikes I found is that: 1. the fan in the bathroom kept spinning, there was no way to turn it off 2. it wasn’t possible to open the windows „due to safety reasons“. I kind of get it, but at the same time I really wanted some fresh air from outside, not the AC. Other than that everything was very good :)

A good stay overall. Rooms were spacious for its price. Only downside was able to hear sirens from ambulance /police cars during the night as the hotel is situated along a main road

Unable to communicate effectively with front desk staff where to leave our baggage’s while waiting for our ride. I hope staffs can communicate in English effectively to avoid misunderstanding and confusion. No garbage container in bedroom area.

Great hotel! Staff were super helpful, room was clean and quite modern. Had a great stay here and would highly recommend. Close to several stations and only a 15 min walk from Kyoto station if you’re picking up the bullet train.

Gute Lage, leider erst Check-in um Punkt 15Uhr möglich. Man hat die Gäste solange warten lassen. Schönes Zimmer. Zimmer hätte etwas gründlicher sauber gemacht werden können.

On last day we couldn’t buy tickets for breakfast. When we left we ask to the reception to call a taxi for us but they refused to do so. We spend almost 30 minutes on the street to finally get a taxi available.

The staff in both the front desk and the restaurant are so warm, so friendly and so kind they are absolutely amazing. Extremely professional and courteous and helpful. Every time I come to Kyoto, this is always my destination of choice.

Fantastic staff and a great property

Our stay at Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto-Kiyomizu Gojo was highly enjoyable. The staff offered excellent service and made us feel very welcomed. They were able to communicate all the different amenities they offered very clearly. Additionally, they helped with forwarding our luggages back to Tokyo. The hotel is in a very convenient spot as it's on the same street as a bus stop, and a train station. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a comfortable, quiet experience in Kyoto, but also convenience after a long day of walking!

I had a great stay! The staff was extremely helpful and the area was very walkable, walking distance from great shopping areas, sights, and restaurants. Close to Kyoto station and any necessary bus stops.

Walking distance to a very nice river walk.

This hotel is 5 minutes walk to the river and near a lot of beautiful restaurants. The train station and the subway station are at ten minutes walk. The room was good with a lot of lights and facilities. Breakfast was really good, with different options of food every day. All the people were really kind and ready to help.

Can’t fault this hotel. Was clean, provided amenities were very good, very good location between the Keihan and Karasuma lines. Bus options plenty also. Close enough the central spots with walking distance to dining spots. Cannot comment on breakfast as I didn’t have it at the hotel.

Das Gebäude ist an eine großen Straße dadurch hat man selbst im 10. Stock bei geschlossenen Fenster manchmal Geräusche. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber. Das Fenster ließ sich leider nicht öffnen, aber es gab einen guten Luftfilter. In der Gegend gibt es ein paar Einkaufsmöglichkeiten 7-11, Supermarkt usw. Die UBahn ist nicht so weit weg.

Ideal location for your visit in Kyoto. Minutes walk to a Nishiki Market, not too far from Sannenzaka and easily easily accessible Kawaramachi-Dori street. You can leave luggage to front desk with tag before check-in if you don’t want to waste too much time. Would gladly come back without a doubt.

Buffet healthy breakfast

Easily our favorite stay in Japan! The breakfast is full of traditional Japanese options, which is lovely. Great coffee too. The bathtub is wonderful, the water pressure is great, and the AC works really well. The rooms are very small, but this is normal and is fine for two adults. Good location as well, if you don't mind the buss or a small walk for train. We've stayed twice and we will absolutely stay again next time we're in Kyoto. We might even just stay at Sotetsu Fresa exclusively when in Japan. 💚

The hotel is very close to the train station and it's easy to walk to many interesting sights such as Higashi Hongan-ji and Teramachi. The room was spacious and clean. Many amenities were available on the main floor and the breakfast buffet every morning was very delicious and had many healthy options. My only dislike was having to wait to borrow a hairdryer from the front desk. I would stay again next time I am in Kyoto 🙂

Excellent choice in Kyoto. The hotel is very user friendly and the amenities are great. It’s close to lots of amazing bars, restaurants and very convenient to the Kyoto nightlife. There are two train stations nearby and great supermarkets and drugstores as well. Breakfast is excellent.

In Kyoto, this hotel is one the "5th Ave" while the main shopping district is on the "4th Ave". So it is pretty close to the shopping district, walkable. The hotel is also close to bus stops, subway metro station, and local train station. You can take bus or subway to the main Kyoto station to go to Tokyo or Osaka. The Hotel's breakfast is quite good, and the food items changes on different days, so you can enjoy lots of style of Japanese food.

Hotel is exactly as pictured! Very clean and convenient. Morning breakfast spread was very delicious each day!
