The Inn at Ocean Grove

Besides Ashley, our very friendly and hard-working innkeeper, the staff overall was very supportive and accommodating. The breakfast choices were very good, and the seating was plentiful. Loved the rooftop views and the bathroom facilities were great. Parking is a bit tough on the weekends but better during the week. The room itself is a bit tight and could possibly use a small chair when seeing the TV.

They should not say they provide parking , because they do not.

Convenient, quiet, great porch sitting. A perfect getaway spot!

Great location, great staff, very charming property. The stairs are narrow and difficult all the way to top with luggage, but that’s not unusual for the era of the building. Just practical to advise of this in advance, however, as not everyone is fit enough to navigate.

This is a very cute, nicely appointed B&B with super inviting and friendly staff. The beach is a quick few minutes walk away. There are a couple common areas like the dining room, multiple porches, a tv room and a rooftop outdoor space with seating. One night we caught the sunset and it was beautiful! We did not get live cable in our room, but it was available in the tv room. There are quiet hours past 10 pm but the rooms are not as soundproof like Hotels might be, so you can hear people walking down the hall and going down the stairs at all hours. Because the building is old, there are little things like small slits between the door jamb that light came through from the hall that was directly on my face when laying in bed, so we had to hang something to block that. Not a huge deal, but just a little adjustment needed. For additional fees, you can rent beach passes, towels, chairs and umbrellas, and bikes. Parking is typical parallel street parking and there are no designated spots for the property, so it’s wherever you can find it. The furthest we parked was a few blocks away but after the beach goers head back for the day, it’s easy to find something close by. We enjoyed our stay and would consider booking here again in the future.

Nice location, very nicely decorated breakfast smelled great although I didn’t have a chance to eat it. BLOWDRYERE R A NO-NO. Any appliance or hair appliance that draws a lot of power is not recommended at all. Keep in mind is a 100 year old home . If you need these items, I suggest finding them wireless, battery operated or something that does not require you to plug-in because it’s a $100 service fee every time they have to come out and reset the breaker. They are not allowed to show guests where the breaker box is so no way around that fee. I was not charged this fee, but they were very clear about it upon check-in. Overall great time. For the price in that area you can’t beat it.

Adorable little Inn in Ocean Grove, great proximity to Asbury Park and the bike rental was a big bonus for us!

We recently stayed at The Inn at Ocean Grove and, while the location is undeniably ideal—just steps from the beach and within walking distance to everything—the overall experience did not meet expectations, especially considering the cost. We understand that the house is older and appreciate its historic charm, but that shouldn’t mean the infrastructure is outdated. We were told not to use a blow dryer at the same time as the air conditioner—an inconvenience that speaks to a lack of necessary upgrades. For the price point, reliable electricity should be a basic standard. One of the most frustrating issues was the gap in the bedroom door. The top hinge was detached from the door frame, leaving a visible crack that let light pour in from the hallway—and worse, created a lack of privacy. You could actually see directly into the room from the hallway. I ended up stuffing a towel into the gap just to feel comfortable enough to sleep. After reading previous reviews, it’s clear this is not a new issue, yet nothing has been done to fix it. Another letdown was the lack of housekeeping or maid service. At no point were we told this wouldn’t be provided, and had we known in advance, we would have reached out to the innkeeper to clarify expectations. The lack of communication was disappointing. In the end, while the location is the inn’s strongest asset, it’s not enough to outweigh the unresolved issues, lack of modern comfort, and poor communication.

The room was very small. The bed was too soft! Stark white everything and not cozy. Short walk to ocean was nice.

The room i picked out on Expedia was so below what room we got. Yes we asked for a lower floor room but i was so disappointed. The room was tiny and you have to crawl into the bed from the end as it was up again 3 walls. The bed was comfy. We were not impressed with the breakfast. Everything was reheated. The coffee and OJ were great.

We enjoyed our recent stay at The Inn, great location and the custom breakfasts were very good. Staff were very nice and the property was very clean. Loved the various decks the Inn has to hang out and rooms relatively large bathroom. However, probably will not stay here again because of a couple of issues many may not have issues with. The room did not have a ceiling fan, and because of the obvious age of the home, there is no central a/c. The solo window unit was not sufficient to keep the room cool and was very loud. Fortunately the second night we kept the windows open but it would be miserable over the summer. Second, the tv was only Rukku combatable which led to not being able to watch various live football games. Again, not a big deal to some but the other homes I've stayed in the area did not have these issues which made for a more comfortable stay.

It is an older building, and the rooms are small, so it will not be for everyone. We were happy with the value for what we were looking for, but people need to keep that in mind.

We loved our stay at the end of September at The Inn at Ocean Grove. We stayed at the apartment so our daughter, who is at a nearby college, could stay with us if she wanted. It has a kitchen which was nice because we cooked a few times. My advice would be to bring pans if you plan to cook. The breakfast was delicious. Ashley and Gene were very nice and accommodating. We hope to come back again when it doesn’t rain the entire weekend.
