Great place to stay. Room was clean. The ensuite was retro but cool. The ammenities were great inc milk, milo, and tea. Downstairs there is a bistro that served nice food. The only issue was parking as the hotel bistro and pub customers had taken all the parks by 6pm when I arrived.

Recent renovation great. We ate dinner downstairs having a simple pasta & nachos. Great portion sizes and tasty. Rooms are all freshly done, bed Bewdiful and a whopping great TV to boot. The shared bathroom is hardly shared like the country pubs we like to fraternise. Shared mean you don’t have your own, but you have sole use of the shower and toilet behind a locked door. Fresh out of the box, the bathroom was flasher than my one at home. Lovely big shower stream and hot almost instantly. For just over $100 it was a great stay. Bit of traffic noise but an extra bottle of red with dinner fixed that! Eleanor who checked us in(at the bar) was very good

Although site advertises onsite parking there was none forced to park in the street away from the site, shared showers and toilets being shared is not a problem, the problem was one shower toilet area I looked at was filthy the other was clean other that toilet paper was removed and sitting in a heap on the floor

One night stay.great price, small but co fortable room. Extra clean.. one drawcard was the shower which looked great but hard to adjust with tap behind warer. Danger of getting burnt which i did slightly. 19 to 20 stairs to room, no lift, limited parking.

Great place to stay. Good Value. Convenient location, small rooms , but comfortable with an ensuite. Not all rooms have a bathroom, but the shared bathrooms are really nice. We have stayed here a few times. The food and Staff are awesome. We will stay again very soon. Please Note: Its hard to get an Uber or Didi in this location so just get the Bar staff at the Five Islands hotel to call you a Taxi.

Room was simple, clean and all you needed for such a convenient location and price. Festive decorations were left in rooms for Halloween wknd celebrations. Staff were very friendly and accomodating, meals available downstairs from accom with children’s playground. Best to check in early for car park parking, shared bathroom facility updated to more modern style since our last visit. Not our first overnighter and won’t be our last.

Staff were very friendly and helpful when checking in at the bar, rooms are accessible through a seperate entrance, up a floor of stairs and above the bar area, so there is some ambient noise through the floor til late but nothing that kept us awake. We got a deluxe room with private bathroom, and the bathroom was nice, modern, and very clean, with a nice shower with a big rainfall style shower head. Regular rooms don't have bathrooms, we didnt use the communal ones but they looked the same as the private one so are nice though you might need to wait. Room was well cooled with air conditioner and fan, and a small bar fridge that chilled water bottles pretty well. Usual amenities, including a kettle and tea cups etc. Overall a great and affordable stay over a long weekend, as long as you're not expecting any extra frills.

We chose to stay at Five Islands because it was a convenient and well-priced choice to rest after driving all day. The room consisted of 1 bed and a TV. The sheets were clean which was my main concern. The bathroom was another story. I took a shower in my slides. There was a pile of rubbish/dirt in between the sink and the wall. The whole building stank of sewage and I am very glad I am glad that we paid extra for a private bathroom, I had a peek at the communal ones and they were pretty gross. Our room was really noisy due to the pub downstairs, loud music and yelling and cigarette smells. Luckily we only used the room to sleep and were well and truly out of there as soon as the sun came up...

Cockroaches and ants in room. Blanket was covered with bed sheets, not sheets for blankets, which made sleeping rather uncomfortable. If you’re an early sleeper, look elsewhere. Bar underneath hotel is open to 4am with bands playing on the weekends. Bathroom stank from the pipes. Hallway up to rooms smell like cat piss. Hot water seems to be shared with the whole facility, so it’s hard taking a pleasant shower.

The room and bedding was clean but carpet on staircase and bathroom floor was not clean. Shower is over bathtub. Sign on ladies shared bathriom dissappeared overnite so i can only assume men were using the ladies bathroom overnite.

We did not get the room we booked. A nice room if a little more care was taken with cleaning. The bed cover had multiple stains on it and the jug had water left in it and had scum floating around in it. Not much can be done about the water pipe noise when the room next door has a shower and the hum of the AC units outside the windows. Next time I'll keep looking

Rooms were clean, bistro was fabulous, lovely manager. Only real issue is no heating or cooling, so with big air con units right outside my room, had to keep window closed all night due to the noise, so room got very stuffy with only the ceiling fan

Love staying at 5 I .. quiet n comfortable Staff helpful n friendly I was in Rm 13 .. bed could need turning as getting saggy where everyone sits on edge .. Kayla manager very helpful I'll be staying again this weekend and she did promise me an upgrade with ensuite as she had to run round and find my remote for tv .. also one pillow didn't have a pillowcase .. cleaning staff are friendly n helpful as well

The property was underwhelming. It'll do a job for a one night stay if you need to put stop somewhere, but the rooms are paper thin. My room had the giant LED sign right outside which was on all night, keeping my room bright as anything. And the room next door we had a shared window, so you could hear absolutely everything they were saying and doing. The bed was beyond soft, you just fall straight through it. Staff were not the most welcoming and left me feeling uncomfortable about even asking for anything, particularly in their bistro, they had no desire to do anything customer oriented. I wouldn't recommend the stay unless you can't find anything else on your pit stop trip around Sydney.

Nice clean rooms but noisy. You can hear people out in the corridors early in the morning. Kids run up and down and the doors are noisy. Small rooms but all you need as long as you are a heavy sleeper.

Our double booked room was given to someone else. We were put in a tiny 3m x 3m single room. When we asked the staff, she became argumentative and we were told bad luck that was all that was left. We were charged for 1 night and refunded the rest of our holiday. Slept in the car at the beach that night due to the tiny dirty room and facilities. Flea found on pillow. Very disappointed.

Easy to find with off street parking. Friendly and helpful staff assist with your check-in. Clean and comfortable rooms. You would not know that you were sleeping above a popular bar even on a busy weekend!

I’ve stayed at this hotel more than five times, and it’s generally a good budget option. The rooms are simple but have the basics—air conditioning, a ceiling fan, bar fridge, tea & coffee facilities and Wi-Fi. The shared bathroom is clean, though a microwave in the room would be a nice addition. The staff are usually friendly wherever I check in, and the manager is truly awesome. I requested a last-minute late check-out, and he was very kind to allow it. Overall, it’s a reliable and affordable place to stay, especially with such accommodating management.

Great location and great food, but on the intersection of two main roads so it's convenient but unfortunately too noisy. Windows need to be triple glazed to keep the traffic noise down. Bathroom needs to be properly renovated and repairs done.

Place is adequate for a one night stay, but wouldn't want to stay longer than that. People also need to bear in mind that the rooms sit above a pub and on a Friday night you will get some noise from patrons leaving the premises late at night.

Great place to stay. Good Value. Convenient location, small rooms , but comfortable with an ensuite. Not all rooms have a bathroom, but the shared bathrooms are really nice. We have stayed here a few times. The food and Staff are awesome. We will stay again very soon. Please Note: Its hard to get an Uber or Didi in this location so just get the Bar staff at the Five Islands hotel to call you a Taxi.

The price was right… bistro downstairs ( convenient) . Perfect for a nights sleep. Visiting a friend in a nursing home in Wollongong. Will stay there again for our next visit. Lots of others restaurants nearby. 💋🙏

Checked in with ease, the staff member was friendly. Female bar manager was open mouth coughing in the direct bar area, she did not cover her mouth or sanitise after coughing over the bar facilities. I would not recommend this place as management were rude and aggressive and RSA rules were not followed as a large number of patrons were clearly over intoxicated and were still being served. I didnt really approve of dogs being allowed in areas where people were eating & drinking. Lots of loud fowl and offensive language being used and patrons were not asked to cease using the language, there were children in the bistro at the time and could clearly hear the offensive language being used by intoxicated patrons. Very disappointed.

Great place to stay. Room was clean. The ensuite was retro but cool. The ammenities were great inc milk, milo, and tea. Downstairs there is a bistro that served nice food. The only issue was parking as the hotel bistro and pub customers had taken all the parks by 6pm when I arrived.

Recent renovation great. We ate dinner downstairs having a simple pasta & nachos. Great portion sizes and tasty. Rooms are all freshly done, bed Bewdiful and a whopping great TV to boot. The shared bathroom is hardly shared like the country pubs we like to fraternise. Shared mean you don’t have your own, but you have sole use of the shower and toilet behind a locked door. Fresh out of the box, the bathroom was flasher than my one at home. Lovely big shower stream and hot almost instantly. For just over $100 it was a great stay. Bit of traffic noise but an extra bottle of red with dinner fixed that! Eleanor who checked us in(at the bar) was very good

Hotel was overall amazing, with a great room and welcoming bar, don’t usually drink at pubs but found myself having a cold beer downstairs. Bit noisy with the people leaving the pub about 9ish, and quieted down after.

Food excellent.linen top of the range. Bed very comfortable.plenty of tea coffee and sugar. Staff very approachable. All things I find very important if having to stay away from home. chemist close . Transport to Woolongong central and return. Will stay again while visiting the nursing home.

Very clean room and adjacent bathroom which was new and modern. Tea and coffee making facilities and towels supplied. Great restaurant downstairs loved the $12 schnitzel, chips and salad night.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 5 Islands Hotel. We found the recently renovated rooms clean, very comfortable and well appointed. With temperatures reaching the mid to high 30 degrees outside the air-conditioning was a welcome respite after playing tourist during the day. The hotel is very centrally located and the rooms were well sound insulated to block the outside noise of the hotel and traffic. The cost of our room was very reasonable considering we were there during school holidays in early January. Parking was initally a bit tricky upon our arrival as the car park doubles as the public carpark for the hotel as well as parking foe guests. However, before opening and after closing times there was a good choice of parking spots to choose from. We would highly recommend 5 Islands Hotel as a moderately priced, comfortable and centrally located place to stay when visiting Wollongong. We will happily return in the future.
