Hotel Villa del Mar Tradicional

Quaint older building. Clean. Bed was surprisingly decent for Mexico. All staff were amazing. Roof top offered stunning views. Upper terrace area was great to relax. 4 blocks from the beach, 1 block from the river trails, and surrounded by great places to eat. Con for me: noisy streets, and clubs at night.

Nice clean well furnished room. Everything worked as it should. Nice big pot of American coffee in the morning in the lobby. Nice relaxing rooftop that could use a little more furniture (I layed on a towel on the concrete) very friendly and helpful desk staff and maid.

First, I am happy that they had accommodation. It was a extra busy week with the festivities. I'm pretty easy going, but having decent Wi-Fi on an international trip is exceedingly helpful their's could use some work. I could not get the kitchenette with air conditioning. It was one or the other. And without a kitchen, not having an ice machine in the building really kind of sucks. On high point, the top deck is fabulous. The staff was more than courteous.

Es agradable lugar. solo no tiene elevador y para gente mayor si no es tan seguro. Esta en buena ubicación y el personal es amable. El precio un poco elevado pero quizá era por año nuevo.

Buen precio y ubicación en zona romantica. Un lugar limpio y tranquilo para relajarse en el bello Puerto de Vallarta. No cuentan con elevador, les recomiendo solicitar planta baja si tienen tema con el uso de escaleras.

The building this hotel is set in is absolutely gorgeous, historical, and unique, and what they've done with it is the peak of what a boutique hotel can and should be. The rooftop terrace should not be missed for its beautiful view of the city and mountains. The location is convenient by foot to Cuale Island, Malecon boardwalk, a local street fair, and the beach, but it just far enough to avoid the chaos of the nightlife. The rooms are newly renovated, small but very cozy. Our neighbor in the hotel said he's been coming back to Tradicional Villa del Mar for eight years and I can see why! I liked having a balcony but wished there were screens to keep the bugs out. Also there is no bathtub and our room didn't come with an AC, we got by with the fan but did wake up warm a few mornings. My partner is very tall and the bed was tough on his back and that would be the only reason we wouldn't return here. If you don't mind a firmer mattress, everything about this hotel is an unbelievable value and a great experience! Also the staff were extremely nice and helpful.

Good location, not too noisy, two nice rooftop sitting areas with good views. Nothing fancy, but 2 minutes walk to Rio Cuale.

It was fine for one night, but it is very very dated and needs updating. It was clean and comfortable enough and I was happy to actually have a hot shower. My room was on the street and I was expecting it to be noisy, but it was not too bad at all. No elevator! Lots of stairs to carry luggage up!

The hotel is colorful and has a very pleasant rooftop patio garden. However, it is somewhat worn in its material detailing.

Does the basics real well. Clean room. Good service. Nice deck to read with good WiFi.

Property was near everything. Bars, clubs, restaurants, the beach, the boardwalk, shops, are were within walking distance. Rooms were small but nice and clean.

The staff were wonderfully pleasant and helpful. The building is clean and feels secluded, while being a very short walk from great cafes and shops. This is the most reasonably priced and nicest hotel I’ve found in Puerto Vallarta.

Hotel was nice and clean. No ice or service on premises. Very poor internet, took me over an hour to connect and it was about dial up speed!, very difficult. Room was very updated but had difficulty with toilet issues and water pressure! Needed to find Starbucks to connect etc!, Staff went aboand beyond to assist me! Truly appreciated! No AC 😩 It was a great room but Somme of this issues were a bit disappointed!

Pros: Location, is walkable... close to the beach and malecon. Cons: I stayed in the first floor and is very loud, impossible to sleep/rest.

My room was recently remodeled and was updated. I was probably the first person to be staying in the room. I will definitely book the balcony room again.

En general bien, el cuarto que nos tocó tenia minisplit, la cama si es un poco incomoda, se sentían los resortes, pero si se descansa. Cuentan con agua caliente y tv, abanico en techo, y el personal muy amable.

Lovely hotel, with nice rooms. Our room with a balcony was small, but had large balcony windows and it had everything we needed for two people. The location was amazing, everything was walkable, though the streets were loud at night. The bed was firmer than we were used to with big pillows, took some getting used to for my partner. We had asked for no AC but there was a fan in the room, it worked well and was very strong. Reception was ALWAYS kind and helpful, in English and Spanish. Would stay here again.

I was here for Hurricane Lidia. The staff wre very helpful during this time. The location is nice, near the river Cuale and nice walk to the Malecon. One of my favourite breakfast places, cafe 449, across the street. My only complaint is no wifi in rooms only common areas.

The property was adequate for a sleeping room. The only negative issue was the noise of doors closing, the sound of the doors closing banging wood on wood echoed through the hotel as well as the sound of voices was very loud disturbing sleep.

This is my third time staying there. I did get a renovated room and it’s much better. No AC and that was the only issue i had.

I like the recently remodeled rooms with AC. The property is always nice and clean. The only downside is the WiFi which is nearly impossible to connect to.

Front desk staff were friendly and competant. Rooms are dated and balcony rooms do not have airconditioning. Lots of bugs get into the rooms but they are easy to kill. Fantastic location near lots of taco stands, and pharmacies. Short walk to the beach. Great place to stay for a couple of days to get an idea of the area before finding more suitable accommodations.

Excellent boutique hotel in the zona romantica. Very clean rooms and the property is charming. The staff is superb- friendly and accommodating and very flexible with respect to extra such as luggage storage after check out and in my case I moved rooms. Highly recommended.

It was a quaint hotel. Very simple no frill rooms. The cleaning staff were great. Cleaned room daily, only wish they’d provide extra towels. The front desk staff wasn’t very helpful when I asked for guidance. The location was great close to beach, shops, restaurants. Very walkable!

When I checked in the man at the desk seemed preoccupied on his phone. After giving me my key he failed to tell me how to get to my room. I went down the hallway and up 3 flights (my room # was 400) of stairs carrying my suitcase ( I am 75 years old)and there were no room # starting with 4XX. A nice man staying in the hotel helped me carry my suitcase up the last flight. He went down and asked the man "why didn't you help the lady" He did not get a nice response. the customer came back to to help me find the room - we could not find it. The man watched my suitcase while I went back to the desk. The desk clerk pointed to a flight of stairs to my left. I went back up the other stairs to retrieve my bag and climbed 3 flights to find my room- with the help of the customer. The nice man who helped spoke little English but was more helpful than the desk clerk. There was construction going on in the hotel that started at 8:30. All night there was loud talking coming from the lobby that echoed up the atrium and was loud in my room until after midnight. Children were talking in yelling in the stairway until midnight as well. The room was clean and the maid was nice. The lady at the desk on the second day was helpful, but the noise did not subside during my entire stay. I barely got 3 hours of sleep.

I love this place. Simple and perfectly located.

Excellent location within Zona Romántica, walkable to Los Muertos or the Malecón. Good value. Clean, bright room.

The property is well within walking distance of the malecon and the downtown center. Many bars and restaurants to choose from as well as street food vendors. Can be a little noisy at night but you do get use to it. Stayed 11 nights and would definately stay at the property on future trips. The staff were amazing, very friendly.

Linda, limpia y fué excelente que regalaran agua, té y café sin límite. Buena atención. Regresaría sin duda pues está en un lugar estratégico y de fácil acceso para caminar y el transporte.

This hotel is an excellent location for exploring all of the Romantic Zone and the beach. It is simple, but comfortable. My one issue with my room is that it did not have a coffee maker. I would suggest this improvement for a room that has a kitchenette.
