It was wonderful. The room and grounds were beautiful. There was a shuttle that took us into town so we didn’t have to worry about driving at night after enjoying the pub. Staff was extremely polite and helpful.

Lovely hotel next to the river. Only 15 -20 minute walk to the city centre. Plenty of parking.Staff very friendly and helpful. Large room with views of the cathedral and river. Beds comfortable - powerful shower. Tea and coffee facilities in the room. Lovely breakfast (help yourself but eggs cooked to order). No evening food at the moment but only 5 -10 minute walk to the nearest pubs serving food. Hotel offers a chauffeur service 5pm until 11pm to the city centre. Overall a great stay.

As a base for exploring Salisbury the Riverside is great. The building and rooms were excellent and the breakfast buffet good. The walk to the Cathedral is about 15 minutes and shows something of the character of the city. Two things to note about the hotel are that there are no lifts and there is no evening meal service. The hotel does however run a shuttle into town in the evenings.

There is no lunch or evening dining option at the hotel, so they provide a shuttle taxi service into Salisbury or it is a 15-20 minute walk into the city centre. We stayed in a riverside room which had access to the garden. This was lovely as you could walk to the river at the bottom of the garden. Unfortunately there are only curtain at the window which means that anyone walking past could see in. I think it would be good to put net curtains up to allow you to keep main curtains open without people seeing in. The room was very nice, plenty of space for clothes. We did not have breakfast and due to not having a restaurant, the free transport into town is a great idea, although it is close enough to walk. The driver gave us great recommendations for where to eat too. If I have a couple of niggles. There are no shelves in the bathroom, to put toiletries on and a handle in the bath would be helpful when getting in and out of the shower. The free shower gel/hand wash was lovely. We would definitely stay there again.

Great hotel approx 15 min walk from the city centre. Rooms were very comfortable and had air con. Breakfast was good hot and fresh and eggs were made to order and you helped yourself to the rest. I think more staff would help though at busy times as they were getting orders, drinks, keeping buffet stocked and cleaning tables. Only 2 on duty.

The hotel was beautifully and tastefully decorated with really interesting prints and historical artefacts. The view from our room over the flood fields and to the cathedral were breathtaking. Breakfast provided hot and cold options, with fresh coffee and eggs as requested. Although there was no dinner service, the hotel provided a free shuttle (or taxi) into town and back so you can enjoy many of the dining options in town. The bar is open in the evenings with a friendly service and wide range of cocktails and alcohol options. The staff are super friendly and happy to help with any queries. Our two night stay was a delight and with ample free parking and a short walk into town, we will happily stay again.

We enjoyed a king bed room with a view of the back garden. The breakfast buffet is quite good (fresh, hot scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, potato crisp) and french press coffee is served at your table. There is no dinner service. The bar offers bags of chips, and you can sit outside on the terrace or walk out to the river gazebo. The staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Stayed 2 nights, loved everything. The check in, guy took us to our room..the room, beautiful, spotlessly clean, room 34 perfect. Parking on site...fantastic. Walk into town about 10 mins, so easy. Great view of River Avon and Cathedral from deck. Can't recommend this place enough...do stay there.

Hotel staff were friendly and attentive. They have a shuttle bus in the evening if you don’t fancy the short walk in to town. Hotel was exceptionally clean. Shower wasn’t great, but did the job. Excellent value for money.

Lovely hotel, comfortable, clean and smartly decorated. A great location only a 15-20 minute easy walk in to Salisbury city centre with plenty of parking and a lovely riverside location. The staff were all friendly and polite and couldn’t have been more helpful. Breakfast was cooked or continental buffet and was very good.

No toilet brush in bathroom and no shelf to put toiletries on. Toiletries were Put a little stool next to toilet. Overall cleanliness good however very grubby round plug point where kettle tray is. Not much room on dressing table - a freestanding small chest of drawers with hospitality tray on would have been good. Staff nice. I upgraded to River Room - however thought it was a bit expensive overall.

The drawbacks in our room was no heating. The staff immediately provided a heater but this did not heat the bathroom. The TV was temperamental but again the staff did their very best to help. My personal preference would not be for the type of overhead shower provided. The bed was super comfortable and everything I needed was provided and very clean. I cannot remember ever staying in a hotel where all the staff have been so cheerful, efficient, polite, caring and helpful.

Arriving at The Riverside was a treat. The car parking was easy and very convenient for access to the hotel. Our room had a double bed, TV drawer and wardrobe space an ensuite bathroom (with bath and shower facilities). The view from our room was beautiful and looked over the lawn (and the sculpture of the giraffe) to Salisbury Cathedral and the field around. The breakfast at the hotel was good (cold selections, hot food, cereals, fruits and patisseries. From the dining area you could walk out on the the balcony and then down impressive steps to the lawns below. A beautiful setting, a lovely stay! Thank you. PS We'll be back - God willing.

Staff was very friendly and attentive. Good breakfast. Jason who drove the shuttle very accommodating. The room was nice but lacked storage space in the bathroom. The bathroom fan cycling on and off was irritating. And it didn’t clear the steam from the shower. Pillows were flat and hard. But even with these shortcomings I’d stay there again.

We really liked this hotel a lot. We arrived late on Friday, after picking up my wife from the airport, but the reception staff were ready and waiting and when we decided to go to the bar for a nightcap, the bar staff were friendly and not rushed at all, even with only hand an hour till closing. The room was spacious and comfy, with a great bathroom, nice toiletries, effective air con, and nice complimentary tea, coffee, water and biscuits, etc. Breakfast was great, really well organised, and the distance to the city centre is easily manageable on foot. We made use of the free shuttle into the city in the evening, as it was raining and, again, the staff were super helpful. Ample parking, a fair few electric charge points for EVs and a great location for the road out to stonehenge, too.

I slept terribly. The pillows were flat and hard, the mattress was uncomfortable and I felt the springs on my back. Why have a winter weight duvet on the bed in August! The air con was directly above the bed, so far to cold to sleep with it on. Bathroom was quite small (room 4). The breakfast was lovely, easy parking and a nice quiet location. I wont be returning as slept so poorly.

The hotel is full of character and the staff were very friendly. The room was clean, spacious and comfy. We had a lovely view of the river. Breakfast was a self service buffet with plenty of choice. Unfortunately, the eggs and mushrooms were cold due to a malfunction of the heated container. However, as soon as we pointed it out, we were given freshly cooked replacements and our breakfast cost refunded. Impeccable service!

A lovely overnight stay at the Riverside after a full day at Longleat! The staff were incredibly friendly and professional. There was even a comp drink on arrival and taxi to/from Salisbury town centre in the evening which was unexpected. Breakfast was great too. Special thanks to Nora on reception - and Jason for his shuttle services!

There is nothing negative to say about this hotel. From the warm friendly welcome through to the equally friendly goodbye everything was spot on. Every staff members we met were so friendly and service was of a very high standard. We will stay here again

Our stay at The Riverside was superb. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. We were given a local map and advice on enjoying our visit to Salisbury. The location was excellent, a 15 minute delightful walk to the Cathedral and the main town. This enabled us to have dinner in the town and then walk back past the Cathedral. We thoroughly recommend a stay at The Riverside, you will not be disappointed!

Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for refurbishment. The stairs were quite a challenge for older people The room heating was not easy to adjust and the shower was difficult to control. The staff were lovely and cleanliness was excellent. The location was to die for with superb views of the iconic Cathedral. When fully refurbished it will be a five star stay.

Lovely staff, fantastic position, good breakfast. There was a wedding whilst we were there but it didn’t encroach upon our stay at all. Not 5 stars as a bit mean with the shower gel (one small bottle for 2 of us for 2 nights which wasn’t replaced), fresh water wasn’t replaced neither were the biscuits. Notwithstanding those minor niggles, we had a lovely time and will definitely return.

Lovely hotel! Our ensuite bedroom had a beautiful for poster canopy bed with views of Salisbury Cathedral, streams and sheep grazing. It was magical and so relaxing to sit and read with those views. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed breakfast, afternoon sandwiches and cocktails from the bar. It’s only a short walk to the Salisbury Cathedral and Close, where we soaked in the majestic cathedral and Evensong by candlelight. Salisbury is a large historical town with countless shops and eateries to enjoy. And it was easy access to major roads and other parts of the UK.

Breakfast provided hot and cold options, with fresh coffee and eggs as requested. Although there was no dinner service, the hotel provided a free shuttle (or taxi) into town and back so you can enjoy many of the dining options in town.
