Pros : Interesting decor and the bar sometimes has live music Cons : Hotel advertises valet parking on website and also has a sign at the front for "valet parking". Upon entering, was told that they don't offer valet parking and never have. The actual parking lot is in a bad area and you have to go onto a website to pay for it, then walk back hoping your car is safe for the night. The lot also had a sign advertising for a different parking website by scanning the QR code on it ... Got back to the hotel and was told DON'T USE THAT ONE, WE DON'T KNOW WHERE IT CAME FROM!! So there's a possible scam that you know about and don't do anything about??? The restaurant literally just has 5-6 things on the menu. And two of them are just a Cheese Plate and a Meat Plate that includes pre-packaged sliced sandwich ham. There was also some crab dip that was obviously bought frozen and then just popped in the oven for 15 minutes. This is not a restaurant. I'm pretty sure the "kitchen" just consists of a freezer and microwave/oven There is a strong perfumey smell EVERYWHERE. Even their soap, shampoo etc smell like it. I actually shudder when I think about it. So... I like the decor and the idea of the hotel, but execution needs some MAJOR work. Not a good experience.

No Air Conditioning. Very loud nightlife. There is no vallet, unlike what is advertised. You will be spending a lot of time and money on maintaining a parking spot.

The hotel is overall very dark and the rooms are so dark it was difficult to put on makeup in the bathroom. Lights were difficult to manage and the room was very small. Hair dryer didn’t work after trying several different outlets and trying to reset the gfi on the dryer cord. We were told there was no brunch only to find out there is but you just have to wait for the chef to arrive. There are many stairs outside and in to negotiate and the front doors are incredibly HEAVY so dealing with the doors and luggage was not pleasant. The parking is very frustrating! Have to park in a lot down the street and can only park for 24 hours at a time. Re-upping the parking has to be done from the lot-cannot add more time via the app on phones. REALLY inconvenient.

Love the property and the staff was very nice and helpful. My only issue: the lighting for the ambiance of the hotel was very dark. The elevator was dark. the common areas were dim. I am elderly and need to see where I am walking. Also not a good choice for a handicapped individual.

Decor is interesting and unique. We arrived a little early and they did not allow us to check in early. The room is tiny and we found an old wash rag in the bathroom and grape stems on the floor by the TV. Street parking was available. The shower stopped running twice while I was taking a shower but it came back on.

Stayed here many times and this was a dud. There was no one at reception for a full five minutes. When we were finally noticed, someone who did not work at reception checked on us. Then magically an employee came out from the room behind reception to help us. She did not apologize for leaving us hanging. The soap dispenser in the bathroom had dripped onto the counter top leaving the impression that the cleaning staff had not cleaned, and the hot water didn't get hot. Lots to improve upon.

This is a wonderfully quirky hotel. The decor is all over the place in a way that is truly enjoyable (if a little confusing). It’s a really nice taste of the charm of Charm City! It was clean, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. Service was also friendly and helpful all around. The WiFi was great. I did an hour and a half on Zoom while my husband was also online, and we had no problem. Cocktails at Bloom and pastries and proper espresso drinks at the Ash Bar were on point. They are both a little overwhelming and delightful in their over-the-top decor - reminiscent of The Shining (sans ghosts) or being inside a jewel box. The neighborhood is one of the most fun in Bmore. We ate at one of the many restaurants within a few blocks and then continued on to a concert at the Lyric Opera House just a couple of blocks farther. Call the front desk to get a parking recommendation for about $17 for 24h. It’s very close

Wonderful courteous staff and very clean rooms. The only reason it's not five star is because there was no assistance with my luggage, including no ramp into the building. I am an older woman and generally need assistance with that. This hotel has a lot of character

The bed was super comfortable! The room was small and the lighting very dim, so not great if you're trying to do work or sit at a desk -- but the bed is great, the shower is great, and everything was very clean. Quirky decor, which I found fun. Great location, very cool bars downstairs. Would definitely return.

The look and feel of the hotel was great and the staff were all very pleasant! However, you cannot control your own temperatures in your own room!!! We had told them on our first night that it was too hot and they had (initially) lowered the temperature. We woke up sweating and, again, asked the front desk to turn the temperature to 67. We came back that night and it was STILL too warm in the room. When we asked them to change the temperature again, they said that we were able to change the temperature in our room (not true) OR that we could text the front desk and ask for a temperature change. I texted the number immediately and received absolutely no response before checking out. Woke up the next morning and it was even warmer than the morning before. Would not stay here again!

Rooms were ridiculously small for money and lighting was horrible. Way way overpriced for what rooms offered. I doubt I will ever stay here again. Staff was nice but overall nothing explained about parking which is somewhat of a hassle(offsight).

This hotel is gorgeous with fun bars and in a great area. I docked points because our electricity kept going out every time I would use their hairdryer or steamer and then we would need to call the front desk for assistance. Happened 3x times. Would still recommend.

Loved this place!! Interesting and historic decor everywhere! Room was wonderfully decorated with canopy beds. Quiet and dark for sleeping. Close to everything in Mt. Vernon. Only thing to mention is the lighting. It too is old-fashioned which means dimly lit.

We have stayed at a few Ash properties, the front desk service at the Ulysses was absolutely horrendous. The staff member checking in handed us a pocket of room cards, we had to ask about valet parking (which was listed under amenities at time of booking, but actually do not have) and ended up purchasing and parking the car ourselves, upon check out the next day we realize there were free drink vouchers in our key pocket, which the staff member never told us about. At checkout, no one was at the front desk and when someone finally did arrive (the same staff member as the day before) we were greeted with less than helpfulness.

This is a old building that has been renovated into a hotel. You won't find modern conveniences like at a Marriott but it's fine for a casual stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. But the breakfast staff were very slow in taking orders, bringing out food, and getting receipts. We were made late one morning because they were really taking it easy. Bartenders were much more efficient.

It’s a must to stay here. This hotel is absolutely amazing. It was so cozy during our trip here to Baltimore (Inner Harbor) and while the snow did dampen things a bit, the hotel offered top notch excellent service. Every single person working there was friendly and welcoming. Their bar, the Ash Bar was great and their food was good. Drinks were great as well. And for the price, you can’t go wrong. Most things were either within walking distance or a short bus ride away. Inside the hotel is also beautifully done, lots of character. We will definitely be back!

Rooms were super quiet. Loves the character of the place. Would love to come back for a longer stay. Tons of places to eat in the area. Walkable and quiet streets for a city. Tried to get the offsite parking app to work, don’t know why it wasn’t (no fault of hotel) but the staff graciously helped us out with that situation when they could have just blown us off. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

The Ulysses was a wonderful place to stay, with a great location. Easy walk to many historic landmarks in Mt. Vernon, and walkable to the harbor/Fell’s point if you are okay with a longer trek! We enjoyed the unique and quirky atmosphere of the hotel, clean room and lobby, and welcoming staff. There were many great dining options in walking distance, and the train station was only a few blocks away, making it convenient to take a quick day trip to DC! Would certainly stay again and recommend to friends or family visiting the area.

The location is not the greatest and parking can be difficult. But the design is incredible. The room was very clean and neat. There was no one at the desk when I arrived and I had to wait a while but once someone did arrive they were quite friendly. The ash bar had excellent food and drinks.

Cool vibes and old school decor in a historic building. Located in the Mt. Vernon neighborhood, I would stay here again as its in a quiet more residential neighborhood with plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Highly recommend.

The neighborhood, interior design, ambiance, the bar etc were all top notch. Street parking was the only inconvenience. However, there are a few public parking lots nearby that cost a fortune lol. But overall, I am pleased with my experience. I will be returning in the near future for sure.

The Tomorrow Suite was a beautiful place to unwind - I especially loved the tub! Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Both of the hotel bars are gorgeous and fun places to grab a drink but I would recommend walking elsewhere in Mount Vernon if you're actually hungry.

The hotel is done like an old house--dark walls and quilts. It is very pretty. I was able to rest there, but the room I was in was very dark and had little lighting to help with that. It does not have a full restaurant--only appetizer like foods. The food is good, but sometimes, I just want a meal in the hotel. All in all, it is fine.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Ulysses for Memorial Day weekend. The staff were wonderfully helpful and inviting. The property is charming and design well thought out, if sparse. The Queen bed rooms are very small and I wish there was a better closet/wardrobe situation. If my stay was longer than 3 days, I'd be very annoyed with living out of my suitcase. All that said, what I absolutely adored was how dark the room stayed with blinds and curtain closed. I didn't need my eye mask to block the light of daybreak creeping in around the edges of the curtains as is typical. I LOVED THAT! There isn't room service and aren't any "open late" food spots nearby. As such, I wished the restaurant menu offered more than elevated snacks and bites but their sourdough bread during breakfast was delicious.
