Convenient, central location within short driving distance to everything you need but was a nice quiet area. Clean and although older, quite well maintained. Parking is quite tight but is covered and off street. Breakfast is a few pieces of toast and some cereal in a little basket in the room which was convenient but a bit basic. After hours checkin was straightforward. Good value for money.

The room we had was very roomy, with bed and bathroom on mezzanine level. There was a lounge, dining and kitchenette on ground level. A small continental breakfast was provided on arrival. Overall room was very comfy and reasonable cost.

Great place to stay. The room was spacious and clean. I liked the continental breakfast as well. I was at the motel before closing hours even though I received an email that my room key was available to collect from the after hours box. Upon arrival, there was noone at reception but my key was not in the collection box. I made a call on the mobile listed and the issue was resolved promptly.

We stayed for one night in an upstairs standard queen room. The room was very clean and well maintained. Reception was quick and efficient. While on a main street, our room near the front street was very quiet. The bed was comfortable. Two easy chairs were provided. The room had a TV, microwave, toaster and electric kettle. Meals could be eaten using two upright chairs set up at a bench. A breakfast with cereal packs, fruit juice, condiments and a slice of bread each was provided. Good value for the price.

The bed was comfy enough. However, bathroom especially toilet was in a terrible state. Ants and cockroaches around the place The breakfast that I paid and was supposed to be included wasn’t delivered for 2 our 4 days. Called and left message and never heard back from the staff person. Pretty disappointed with overall service. Won’t stay there again, that’s for sure

This hotel was ok for what we needed it for, which was a one night stop over on a road trip. Pros: Large hotel room. Breakfast provided (juice, toast, milk, cereal etc). Good location. Cons: Very aged. Toilet ran all night and took a long time to fill. Ants everywhere Mould in the bathroom Very noisy. Felt like I was going to fall through the bathtub and it squeaked while in it. Carpet on the outside areas. We couldn’t get internet to work but we had brought our own which isn’t an issue. The reception left the out of hours phone in the office so could not check out smoothly or get in contact. The whole hotel downstairs was open but only cleaners around.

Mixed reaction to this motel. It met our basic expectations for cleanliness and comfort but little things detracted so it did not justify a high rating. There was no on site reception and they forgot to send a code for the lock box and no answer to phone calls which caused some panic. We got the code sorted but the lock box was so hard to open the manager had to do it. We we arrived about 7pm and had hoped to eat in the onsite restaurant, but that was closed. The room was generally dark because some light globes did not work. There was enough crockery/cutlery to eat the breakfast provided and make a cuppa, but insufficient to eat a microwaved meal... no forks or plate which seemed odd given that a microwave was provided.

I asked for a late checkout and the property manager accepted for an extra charge. The room itself was well appointed and spacious. What I did not like about my stay was the property manager's questions which were several and I was slowly losing patience answering them. Apparently bookings made through Expedia.com do not show guest details and therefore why she had to ask me all the questions that could have been found on Expedia as part of my profile. The worst part about my stay was that the property manager's son (I assume) comes across as a weirdo always aggressively asking if 'I'm ok' or if 'everything was good'. He even tried to enter my room despite knowing that I had a late checkout however he was very apologetic about it stating that he assumed I had checked out. I do not understand why he assumed this as I had not handed my room key yet. They could have also called to make sure I had checked out so there was no excuse for the guy to enter the room. Fortunately, I was able to communicate with him from inside the room before he could open the door. Had he entered, he would have been witness to a fully naked man about to take a shower. This almost felt like an invasion of privacy and I would encourage guests to stay elsewhere.

Unfortunately we arrived after office was closed so had to call mgr to come give a key rather than emailing me a code to open the key box but we did not have to wait more than a minute. No food available close. The manager offered and did drive us to a mall where we could spend time waiting until out bus time. Room was very clean and modern bathroom looked new. There were breakfast items fir us to use.

Positives - The bed was comfy, nice and quiet area and in a great location. we walked to The Austral pub for dinner, so busy due to great food and staff. Negatives - The staff were totally rude, the place was so dirty, fingerprints all over the entrance to the office/restaurant so definitely not high touched surfaces cleaned and disinfected. The main reason we chose this place was the price and free breakfast knowing we had a huge drive the next day. They don't have breakfast at all as advertised on the site. We packed and went down for breakfast only for the place to be closed at 8am. No activity in the office or kitchen. I rang when we were out the previous night at 5.51pm to check when the kitchen opened the next morning and left a message for them to ring me back. They didn't. Would not recommend staying at this place at all.

This is a great place to stay and my first booking. The motel is showing signs of ageing, but it is located in a quiet location within walking distance to the Caneland shopping centre and Mackay CBD. The room was well appointed, but I wished there was more counter space as I found that I was constantly running out of space to put plates, food and cutlery.

Went to the MECC for a Jazz Brunch and this location was perfect. Walkable to the town centre. Towels were ok but not real soft and fluffy. The pillows were ok but quite thin and only one spare in the cupboard. The bed had one blanket that was minky soft but it was also very thin with no spare blanket to use. and it was it cold while the aircon was hard to get to the correct temp in the room so half the night we were freezing and turning up the aircon a bit at a time. No spare blanket. The receptionist was great.

I was travelling and Mackay was my half way stop. It is in a quiet area, clean with helpful staff. Could not fault it. Just what I needed. I found a great place for dinner within easy walking distance. 🙌

Our stay at the Shakespeare Motel was pleasant. Our room was very generously sized and was spotlessly clean. There was plenty of onsite parking. The property was quiet and peaceful. Please note as of February 2023 the restaurant is open Monday to Thursday only. Alternative restaurants are about a 10-15 minute walk away. We were pleased with the complimentary continental breakfast basket provided.

On ne devrait pas annoncer ce motel comme ayant un petit-déjeuner compris, car ce n’est pas réellement le cas. Tout ce qu’il y a comme petit déjeuner, c’est un panier avec deux tranches de pain, des sachets de céréales, des petites boîtes de jus et de quoi se faire du thé ou du café instantané. Cela dit, la chambre est bien, c’est tranquille et le lit est confortable.

Mixed reaction to this motel. It met our basic expectations for cleanliness and comfort but little things detracted so it did not justify a high rating. There was no on site reception and they forgot to send a code for the lock box and no answer to phone calls which caused some panic. We got the code sorted but the lock box was so hard to open the manager had to do it. We we arrived about 7pm and had hoped to eat in the onsite restaurant, but that was closed. The room was generally dark because some light globes did not work. There was enough crockery/cutlery to eat the breakfast provided and make a cuppa, but insufficient to eat a microwaved meal... no forks or plate which seemed odd given that a microwave was provided.

Was not told when we booked in to take our breakfast up to our room then. As it was part of cost, it was not delivered to our room, thought it may be outside room next morning but was not. Also no book inside room telling us anything at all. Would have liked to know if bottle of wine was complimentary or we had to pay if we drank. No book, no know.

Great place to stay. The room was spacious and clean. I liked the continental breakfast as well. I was at the motel before closing hours even though I received an email that my room key was available to collect from the after hours box. Upon arrival, there was noone at reception but my key was not in the collection box. I made a call on the mobile listed and the issue was resolved promptly.

Found the room at the Shakespeare Hotel very clean and well presented. The kitchenette was well equipped. The bed was comfortable. The shower was nice and water was hot. Parking was easy. The only thing that would have made it better was the restaurant operating for breakfast and dinner.

We stayed for one night in an upstairs standard queen room. The room was very clean and well maintained. Reception was quick and efficient. While on a main street, our room near the front street was very quiet. The bed was comfortable. Two easy chairs were provided. The room had a TV, microwave, toaster and electric kettle. Meals could be eaten using two upright chairs set up at a bench. A breakfast with cereal packs, fruit juice, condiments and a slice of bread each was provided. Good value for the price.

Positives - The bed was comfy, nice and quiet area and in a great location. we walked to The Austral pub for dinner, so busy due to great food and staff. Negatives - The staff were totally rude, the place was so dirty, fingerprints all over the entrance to the office/restaurant so definitely not high touched surfaces cleaned and disinfected. The main reason we chose this place was the price and free breakfast knowing we had a huge drive the next day. They don't have breakfast at all as advertised on the site. We packed and went down for breakfast only for the place to be closed at 8am. No activity in the office or kitchen. I rang when we were out the previous night at 5.51pm to check when the kitchen opened the next morning and left a message for them to ring me back. They didn't. Would not recommend staying at this place at all.
