Fanciest airport hotel in Raleigh, but mediocre at best. Airport shuttle took forever to arrive (a good 35-40min after our call), the van was worn out, seats stained and smelling like piss - though the driver was perfect. At check in we were given the wrong time for breakfast the next day so we showed up at 6.30am just to realize breakfast wasn’t until 7. Room amenities for one or two, though we booked the room for 3. Room service far beyond mediocre, frozen pizza burnt in an oven, cheap canned tomato sauce over watery pasta, 3 mains that an airport restaurant wouldn’t dare serve - 107$ including a “delivery charge”, mentioned nowhere. After our meal we called for the tray to be removed. Thankfully we didn’t hold our breath, the tray was still sitting outside the room at 10.00am the next day. The pool was freezing and windy despite the hot outside temperature, there was just one towel left, and the water was cold and the bottom of the pool had pieces of paper floating alongside with green marks indicating a simply not maintained pool. The breakfast was charged with a « large party fee » which again is unheard of and was written nowhere, when we enquired we were told this is in fact the « buffet fee ». Just ridiculous and not what is expected from a Marriott hotel, or from any hotel at this price point. Hard pass for us.

The Westin Raleigh-Durham hotel is beautiful & is located in a nice area in Raleigh (Brier Creek). Plenty of shopping & food spots. It’s also about 20 mins from downtown Raleigh, Crabtree Mall, & North Hills. I’ve stayed at the Westin a few times & it’s one of my favorite hotels to stay at; they have the best hotel gym I’ve ever used. However, I was a little disappointed with my last visit. We went to swim in the pool around 11am on Saturday & the tables outside had not been wiped off from the night before. There was dried food on the tables & a paper menu was floating in the pool. We also paid for the breakfast buffet for $24 per person with an additional $9 fee & the food was very bland. They had a lot of variety, but it wasn’t seasoned very well. We ended up not finishing our food, because it just wasn’t good. The pastries were dry & the waffles were way too hard as well; I’m guessing from being under the heat lamp? There also was no beverage bar, so we had to wait until a waitress came into the dining area to ask for water, juice, & coffee. They also didn’t put out any condiments, so we had to ask for creamer, sugar, butter & cream cheese too. Our room was very clean & beautiful with a great view, but there was dirty linen on the floor all down the hallways on Saturday & Sunday. When you pay $270 per night & $24 for breakfast, you expect a higher quality of hospitality & sadly, that’s not what we experienced with this last visit.

I always stay at this hotel when I travel to Raleigh for business. The staff is very friendly, I love the Starbucks in the lobby (opens at 5 am!) and the restaurant offers delicious meals. You can’t go wrong at the Westin!
