Cons: Not enough lounge chairs for guests. If you don’t get to the pool by 8am, you don’t get a chair. Hot tubs were run down/falling apart and were luke warm. Rooms need a little updating. Need more entertainment options. Overall, I’d probably stay again, but only for a good deal.

I loved the property. The food was great! Our concierge Mario and Andres were amazing and always making sure we okay and taken care of. Now the spa! It was amazzzzzzing ! My girl Alma was out of this world! It was a 2 hour full body massage and facial!!!

Best thing is all suites have a large balcony facing the ocean. The hot tubs are in severe need of repair (broken tiles) and water was cold in one and lukewarm in the other. The new tower being built needs to be completed as it is a bit of an eyesore - you can see it is rusting from being unfinished for so long. Pillows weren't good on the beds. Adjacent hotel plays very loud music and was difficult to sleep since the hotel walls are thin. We could hear the people in the next suite talking also, As a whole, we really liked the Sunset Plaza, we thought the food was very good, our child liked the pizza's and burgers, We really liked the coffee shop.

Very nice smaller all inclusive resort on a beautiful beach. All rooms are ocean view. Friendly staff and very good service. In busy times, it could be difficult to get a lounger at the pool and there are no more than maybe 10 chairs on the beach.

Decent food, elevators kept having issues so there were long wait times. The hotel next door is really loud. Most employees were very kind, and a few that were not so great. Property is well maintained except the pools which were gross, the smaller pool wasn’t filtering at all and had so much sunscreen and whatever else floating around. Shade is limited and so is seating around the pools. Good shows and entertainment. Hotel has a lot of potential, hopefully when they are done with construction some things will be improved upon.

Spectacular views of both the mountains and the beach. Clean, comfortable room with good air conditioning. Service staff friendly and especially attentive/accommodating. Excursion prices were very fair and day trips were fun. Spa experience was outstanding.

Staff were mostly great, and attentive. The two biggest thumbs down for us were: 1) if you get a room on the second floor, you might be in for a late night raccoon gang party. They get in the vents right above the room ceiling and go absolutely nuts, right about when you’re in your deep sleep and will not stop even if you bang on the ceiling. We had to switch rooms after two out of six nights of our stay were impacted by this. 2) the hot tubs, both of them, were not hot during our stay

Loved this resort! Every room faces the ocean and every night they do a turn down service where they spray your room with the scent of your choice and leave little chocolates for you. The staff were AMAZING! They made you feel like family!! The pools and seating set up was great. Lots of different places to sunbathe. There were several restaurants to choose from and they changed their menus daily. Except the pizza place- it was always the same and to die for and always open! I felt very safe there too. They always checked you in and out at the gate. Overall great place to stay! Highly recommend.

Location is great, close to everything. Beautiful beach, lots of activities, food at the hotel was very good and good variety like snacks and extras. Property is very clean, rooms are very clean, service was excellent. I think it is a great deal.

The property itself is average to any other all-inclusive resort we've stayed. Our room was definitely dated and needed some repairs but nothing critical that we needed addressed while there. Bedroom a/c fan didn't work, so it did get a little warm in the room during the day, but the a/c in the main living area was good and kept the place cool enough with the ceiling fans running on low. The safe didn't work electronically, so we had to use the key, the living room tv didn't have a remote but we never needed it on so didn't ask for one. Being rainy season, with one torrential downpour, there was some water leaking through the a/c area of the celling and it appeared has been an issue for a while as there was mildew on the ceiling around the leaky area. Food was average. While it's a small resort and in off-season there is no buffet, ordering breakfast was fairly quick and definitely fresh, so that was good. Only had one dinner at the resort and it was underwhelming. Went offsite for all other evening meals. The common areas are all in good shape and provided a good experience for us. The staff is what made the difference for us. They were all fantastic. I don't have all the names, but Jose at the lobby bar, Jerry and others at the pool were fantastic and ensured we always had everything/anything we needed. The activities guys even came around to switch out towels during the day if needed. That never happens. Huge kudos to all the staff!!

Amazing experience with some of the most amazing staff and servers. First day I had a cockroach in my room, but the cleaner came in right away and took it out. Sadly all other rooms were booked. But didn’t have anymore issues after that. A few of the staff members go above and beyond. And they were definitely the highlight of my trip.

The front desk customer service is really unprofessional, I have been to all over the world that I have never meet the service like this , very unacceptable!! This hotel offer free wifi and primier wifi , but the web page might lead you to click to premier one accidentally. When I checked out , the front desk said to me that we click 3 times , we showed her that we have never used that and our setting always shows free WiFi , and we didn’t even have to log in after the first day check in . She said even it shows free WiFi on your setting , once you had click that bottom and even you click out right away , we have to charge you !! My roommate tried to tell her that we had never used that , then this front desk tried to show her how to make this mistake .. So you know it will be happening so easy ? Then you told me regardless if we used it , regardless the setting wifi shows that we are not link with your premier wifi , we will still have to pay and for three days ??? We stayed for 4 nights , we went out of the hotel for excursion 2 days whole day .. then she insisted to ask us to pay ??? This is just a ripe off , and I have never know that you have to pay the service that you didn’t get !! We end up to pay cause our driver was waiting by the entrance and she repeated what she said that even you don’t use it , you have to pay .. I told her that I won’t be back and I’ll give here bad review , she was still repeat the same words .. she was ruining my vacation at the very last

WiFi didn’t work the whole trip. Allegedly due to hurricane so I’ll give them benefit of the doubt. Kinda sucked tho bc both my bf and I had to work remote so we had to go to nearby cowork cafe. And at night we couldn’t stream any shows before bed. Food was pretty good, room was good, can’t complain otherwise. Def a small resort tho but in a cool area, could def go off resort and wander around by foot (and we did).

My stay at Sunset Beach was absolutely wonderful! I had a supreme deluxe double room on the 14th floor with the most beautiful view. And it was in their new tower which I loved. I had the all-inclusive package and the service was phenomenal. I even got a sparkling champagne with my room and stocked mini bar. It was rare that I had to ask for anything because the staff was on it! Special shoutout to Ruben who helped me with a birthday surprise for one of my friends. I was really grateful for him. Decent food, elevators kept having issues so there were long wait times. The hotel next door is really loud. Most employees were very kind, and a few that were not so great. Property is well maintained except the pools which were gross, the smaller pool wasn’t filtering at all and had so much sunscreen and whatever else floating around. Shade is limited and so is seating around the pools. Good shows and entertainment. Hotel has a lot of potential, hopefully when they are done with construction some things will be improved upon.

we lost $200 from our room and we put the privacy on door but they still went in to top up fridge or clean room- they ignore the sign. We reported it to the front desk and security and they said they will give us an answer within 48 hours but they did not and we had to go ask them update and they were careless and didn’t offer us any credit for our loss or they didn’t try to make us happy as their customers with a credit or free special dinner or tour etc. They just said we can’t find it and that was it- poor response to our issue and no follow up with a report. They didn’t even apologize afterwards about our loss.

Our check-in experience was unfortunately frustrating. We had booked three rooms separately, not as a group, but were told by one staff member that we all had to check in together—despite there being two employees available. The team member struggled with the first reservation (I’ll let that guest speak to their own experience), and this delay left us, including a tired and overheated 2-year-old, waiting over an hour with no communication or empathy from the second staff member. Part of the building is under construction which looks pretty ugly, but no big issue. My biggest complaint and the reason for my three star review was the staff. We experienced theft. My wife\'s blouse sweater was stolen in our suite. We are very sure she didn\'t lose it somewhere. We are from Canada, it\'s kind of chilly weather when we left home that\'s why she wore it. When we arrived in Puerto Vallarta, we enjoyed a consistent humid weather for the whole duration of our stay. My wife had never have a chance to re-wear it. She found it\'s missing when we were dressing up for our departure. We been using the extra bed as our "wardrobe", our clothes were all exposed lying on top of the bed.

For the price point, this was a great place to stay. It may not have the facilities, dining options or entertainment as a larger resort, but if you plan on spending more time off resort, this is a good spot. Pools, beach, bars and food were all sufficient but not spectacular. Easy to catch a bus, taxi or Uber to the Malecon or Marina for excursions. Deluxe room was clean and nice. It wasn't particularly large, but who spends that much time in there anyhow. Resort next door is a bit noisy later into the evening. It didn't bother us, but could imagine it bothering someone else. Overall we had a good experience. We probably wouldn't go back only for the fact we like to try new places and could more than likely find something similar or better. It is worth a visit.

This resort is just the perfect size, not too big neither too small. Everything you need in terms of pools, beach, service and food. Everything was great. All rooms facing the ocean is a big plus, and the fantastic view of the sunset each day. Finally situated at a walking distance from downtown Puerto Vallarta and the Malicon boardwalk.

Over all this is a good value for the price. Located right on the beach, every room has an ocean view, nice pool, attentive staff, generally clean (although it was hard to keep sand out of my room's floor). The plumbing is not the best (slow shoer drain, malfunctioning toilet flush, etc.), but that's common in slightly older hotels. One big issue is the quality of the food. There are 2 main restaurants and a pizza place. Other than breakfast, which was fine the 2 meals I had in the restaurants were of poor quality, so I ate out the rest of my stay (there are some excellent restaurants in Puerto). Perhaps that's what you get for that price. However the drinks are free with the deal, so that can be important. This is a great place for families with kids. Taxis are more expensive at the hotel than elsewhere in the city, so consider Uber if on a budget.

The staff were wonderful, very friendly and helpful. September is slow month in PV, and the resort was not at all crowded, which was nice. We had a room with two queen beds instead of a king, but a king would have been a different category grade of room. All the rooms have beautiful, large, ocean-view balconies. A/C was great. Everything was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Loved having a choice of many pillows. Two disappointments were the restaurant where the food was very bland, and the beach had very difficult entry and exit from the water. You can't blame the hotel for that because the beach had a steep pitch into the water which caused a difficult undertow when exiting. Once in the water and past the small breakers, the land fell away and you're quickly in deeper water. Few people went into the swimming area despite the presence of lifeguards. The vendors on the beach were annoying and brazen. They are supposed to stay beyond the roped-off area, but didn't. We've been to Mexico more times than we can count and expected vendors. However, the use of loud clown horns to attract attention detracts from peacefully relaxing at the beach. Not the resort's fault. In general, this is a very small, quiet resort. Maybe it's livelier in busier months, but it was pretty dead after dinner. September wasn't a great choice for various reasons. If it's not raining, it's sunny and humid with rain threatening in the evenings. Some restaurants downtown close until October.

Loved this resort! Every room faces the ocean and every night they do a turn down service where they spray your room with the scent of your choice and leave little chocolates for you. The staff were AMAZING! They made you feel like family!! The pools and seating set up was great. Lots of different places to sunbathe. There were several restaurants to choose from and they changed their menus daily. Except the pizza place- it was always the same and to die for and always open! I felt very safe there too. They always checked you in and out at the gate. Overall great place to stay! Highly recommend.

While we were on the top floor, the view was obstructed since we had a corner room and there was a wall on the side. The food was very underwhelming. Hardly any vegetarian options. Not worth the price I paid for the "All inclusive" hotel.

The size of the resort was good for us, somewhat on the smaller side but with 3 pools and on the beach. Food was fine but often not as described on the menu and also not served hot. With only the two restaurants, for a longer stay (10 days) options were limited . Lunches had the best options.

One of the two reasons I did not rate 5 stars all around is to do with activities on the resort. One of the evenings they had a group come and sing but it was less than an hour long. The other, we attempted to utilize the jacuzzi but the water was cooler than the pool… I also notice the pool likely needed nightly scrubbing, noticeable build up. All staff provided excellent service. One of the days I was hungover and one of the waiters went out of his way to bring me a table of hangover remedies he felt that would help me, which I was so surprised and grateful for. The food was great for it being at a hotel and the bartenders were personable. We enjoyed the drinks that were provided and did not get sick from drinking at the resort. I do recommend this resort if you are contemplating, you will not be disappointed.
