Shower from the ceiling was weird - needs a handheld to rinse out hair. No staff in office but they were fairly quick to arrive; no microwave; couldn't figure out TV or which internet to use. No dining area or small table except folding table in room. Major traffic noise.

The prices were way too high for this level of property. But, it's what the market would bear. For this price, though, not to offer any breakfast or even coffee - either in the room or lobby - is pretty sad. There is a Starbucks right next door, but shouldn't have to get dressed and go somewhere else to get coffee in the morning. Usually only casinos do this so you will go down and gamble. This was strange for this type of property.

The check-in process was quick and friendly. I arrived before 3 and my room was not quite ready. I returned later to get my key. I was escorted to my room and shown how to use everything. The gentleman confirmed I was happy with the space and I was. The room was very clean. No desk but a chair provided to I could do a little work on my laptop on the bathroom sink counter. I missed having coffee but there is a Starbucks next door that opens very early. The bed was comfortable but I did not care for the pillows.

The Castle Rock Hotel looks a bit dated on the outside, but everything is very clean, the beds are comfortable and the rooms are small, but extremely efficiently laid out to maximize space. Good Cable TV and WiFi, parking and very close proximity to the entrance at NAU. The management is also very friendly and accommodating. I loved it!

Older motel on old Route 66. We were surprised at the cleanliness of the remodeled rooms. Although it is located on a fairly busy road the room was quiet and comfortable There was no coffee maker in the room but the motel is situated between a McDonalds and Starbucks. What else would we need? I would definitely recommend this motel as a great place to stay in Flagstaff.

Rating this hotel has are well deserved. Price much lower than anywhere else. It may look older from the outside, but rooms are very clean and comfortable. Bed linens/pillows were plentiful, bathroom was spotless and towels large, fluffy and very clean and white. I was escorted to room after check in and shown how to work AC/heat, cable TV, lights etc and asked to make sure room was to my liking. They have free wifi, HBO and a ton of TV channels if wanted. No problem and no charge for parking. Checkout was fast and easy. Highly recommend Castle Rock. Family owned and operated and their pride shows in the rooms and service.l

This was a good place to stay. The bed was comfortable and the room spacious. The air conditioner was quiet, which has been a rare experience for us in hotels! The sink was located outside the bathroom and was surrounded by a large countertop, which I liked. The shower was large, too. However, there were no cups or an ice bucket in the room, so something to be aware if that's something you want, and the refrigerator was off, so it's necessary to turn that on if you need to use it. The hotel is close to several restaurants and stores. We were there on a weeknight, and we noticed some of the nearby restaurants closed rather early in the evening.

Renovated and very clean. Nice beds. Owner was very nice and gave a tour of the room to explain how to use the heater controls. Coffee in the room, however it is located between a Starbucks and McDonalds so it's a 1 minute walk for other coffee if thats your thing. Will definitely stay here again.

Impeccably clean, clear attention to details and amenities offered. Very kind and helpful staff even though we arrived after hours and they reopened just for us. I was able to fit in the parking lot with my trailer, but there are only a couple spots for larger vehicles so be mindful you may need to find parking elsewhere if they are full. Still, this was a five star venue on a budget. I’d stay again.

Extremely neat, clean, newly renovated room with a huge sparkling clean bathroom. This room could have used a few USB ports for charging but this is a minor thing. The owner was very nice and friendly, all in all a good place to stay in Flagstaff.

This place was so cute and super clean! As soon we walked in it smelled clean something that is so rare. The bed was comfortable also smelled clean! The staff was super friendly and helpful. The location was perfect, 8 minutes from downtown and there were nearby restaurants to eat. Highly recommend

The room smelled horrible. Every time the air conditioner kicked on, an overpowering air freshener smell was expelled into the room. We left at 2 am to find another hotel. We returned to check out after one night of a 2-night stay. We paid in advance, and a refund was refused. Hotels.com was unable to get us a refund. I would never stay here again. I will never book through a third-party site again. Lessons learned.

We could hear every word of a normal-volume phone conversation in the next room. This could be a problem if you had noisy neighbors, but was fine during our stay.

All rooms were remodeled and clean. The heat was turned off until we got to the room and it took several hours to reach a comfortable temperature. The shower had very low hot water flow.

I’ve stayed in many motels across the US and I have to say this was the best one I’ve been to. The rooms were modern and pretty, an absolutely amazing shower, the bed spread was gorgeous, and there was lovely, soft carpeted flooring. The manager is a very nice woman, very helpful. I don’t usually leave reviews but I couldn’t resist, the value for money is really there!

Looks like just another Motel. Great reception experience including tour of the room and the heating system(vital as minus celsius that night) Very comfy bed room clean and even a newish carpeted floor. Near main road but didn't affect our sleep. Good for the price

The staff was great and very friendly, however the room did not have things I generally expect, like a desk, A/C, or water pressure suitable for showering. Assuming the water pressure was a fluke, I would only stay here if I didn't expect to do anything but sleep and shower in my hotel room. If you're one to get hot at night, don't stay here between May - September, or you'll be deciding between not sleeping from the heat, or not sleeping from the noise coming through the open window.

The owner/manager was very nice and walked me to the room to show me a few things, e.g. TV and AC functioning. The room was cute and clean. There were two things that weren't perfect - (1) there was no top sheet under the bed's comforter, so that I had to be covered by a comforter likely used by previous people. That made me uncomfortable; (2) the curtains did not close securely so that no one could look in; I placed cushions up against the curtains strategically (it took 3). It would have been preferable to me, as a solo female, to know they were secure. Otherwise a nice stay, very comfortable bed.

We chose Castle Rock because it was listed as a Hidden Gem. When we pulled into the parking lot, we were suspicious. But we checked in with the owner/manager Sonya…SHE is the hidden gem! She showed us to our room, explained the workings of the amenities & the TV. The room was quaint…and roomy! Each outside room door has its own welcome mat. Castle Rock is walking distance to many restaurants & shops. We stayed 2 nights. The first night we just had pizza delivered to our room & that worked out well. Our only disappointment was that our toilet handle wasn’t working properly. We had to adjust it in the tank each time. But we’d highly recommend this place! And kudos to Sonya!

We needed a room for a night while we explored Flag. First time at Castle Rock and we were very surprised. Sonia checked us in and walked us to our room and showed us how to work the ac and tv while sharing info about the recent remodel. The room was super clean and cute it felt more like a guestroom at a fav aunts house rather than a hotel room. It was one of the cleanest rooms i have ever stayed in. It had the basic necessities including a mini fridge. The rainfall shower was a nice touch. Highly recommend staying here

No early check in! We arrived at 1pm and asked for early check in and the front desk attendant asked for $25 cash to have the room expedited. Furniture was from Walmart and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. Guessing the location warrants the nightly rate? Will not be staying here again.

It's a family-owned business, and it's a great place. We stayed only one night, and we arrived a bit late, but they were very accommodating. Also, it was very clean, which is my most important thing. It was super clean, and the beds were comfortable. There were lots of places to go eat. We did an early run, and there were plenty of places to have lunch or just go grocery shopping. I would come back if I'm In the area. Thank you!

I travel 15 days a month of work so I stay in a ton of hotels and don’t usually take the time to review them. But, this was lace was so nice! Friendly staff, clan comfortable rooms and quiet. This feels like a small, family run hotel where the owners take real pride it creating a good experience.

This is an older motel that has been renovated with care and attention to details, conveniently located close to NAU, shopping, restaurants, and our favorite bookstore, Bookman's. As a bonus, there is a Starbucks right next door. The managers are great, escorting guests to their rooms and making sure they have everything they need. Often when traveling we find even the nicest lodgings have super hard beds and too firm pillows. Not so here! The bed was perfect and we slept like babies. We look forward to staying here again in the future!

I needed a place to crash for 2 nights while taking my Advanced Trauma Life Support Class in Flagstaff. I found this gem with incredible reviews on Hotels.com. I love to stay at non-chains whenever possible because I feel like it gives me more of a local feel. The staff here was amazing, the rooms recently renovated, right in the heart of downtown Flagstaff, walking distance to so many restaurants and even Target. I plan to stay here again!

The Castle Rock Hotel looks a bit dated on the outside, but everything is very clean, the beds are comfortable and the rooms are small, but extremely efficiently laid out to maximize space. Good Cable TV and WiFi, parking and very close proximity to the entrance at NAU. The management is also very friendly and accommodating. I loved it!

Property has been nicely remodeled. Perfect for our overnight stay for a concert at Pepsi Amphitheater. Not far from venue and quick stop eateries nearby. Easy access from highway 17. Host was very accommodating at check in. Would stay again.

This place was so cute and super clean! As soon we walked in it smelled clean something that is so rare. The bed was comfortable also smelled clean! The staff was super friendly and helpful. The location was perfect, 8 minutes from downtown and there were nearby restaurants to eat. Highly recommend

We chose Castle Rock because it was listed as a Hidden Gem. When we pulled into the parking lot, we were suspicious. But we checked in with the owner/manager Sonya…SHE is the hidden gem! She showed us to our room, explained the workings of the amenities & the TV. The room was quaint…and roomy! Each outside room door has its own welcome mat. Castle Rock is walking distance to many restaurants & shops. We stayed 2 nights. The first night we just had pizza delivered to our room & that worked out well. Our only disappointment was that our toilet handle wasn’t working properly. We had to adjust it in the tank each time. But we’d highly recommend this place! And kudos to Sonya!

For this price, though, not to offer any breakfast or even coffee - either in the room or lobby - is pretty sad. There is a Starbucks right next door, but shouldn't have to get dressed and go somewhere else to get coffee in the morning. Usually only casinos do this so you will go down and gamble. This was strange for this type of property.

Older motel on old Route 66. We were surprised at the cleanliness of the remodeled rooms. Although it is located on a fairly busy road the room was quiet and comfortable There was no coffee maker in the room but the motel is situated between a McDonalds and Starbucks. What else would we need? I would definitely recommend this motel as a great place to stay in Flagstaff.

Very clean. I was very happy with my stay. The staff was so friendly and helpful. I felt very welcomed. The only thing I wish I had was a microwave, I survived tho. There were so many places nearby to eat I was pleased.

A hidden gem. It does not look as good on the inside as it looks in the inside. The quality and cleanliness of the rooms for that price and location makes it completely worth it. The only thing I could complain about is the bright light on the minisplit inside the room. The bright intense blue light shines right on your face when you are laying in bed and can be very annoying

Arrived a few hours early, 1 PM, and the office was closed. Called the number posted to discuss early check in and was told it was $20 an hour for early check in. Never heard of that. Property was a no frills room. Chair in the room was a metal folding chair. Older hotel and if you are on the ground floor you can hear every step of the person above.
