The receptionist was lovely. The room was sub standard for the price. It stunk of bleach, coming from bathroom sink. The tiles had dirty work boot prints all over them. The fans were covered in thick dust. The room was hot upon arriving and didn't seem to cool down. The bedrooms had better aircon. The balcony had 2 chairs and 1 small table. Room was booked for 3 people and slept 4. The dining table had rust and long time grim under glass. Only one of the 2 keys given to us worked. The pool has rubbish all around it. Loads in the garden beds. On the plus side the beds were comfortable. For the price, I would stay elsewhere.

Great staff that are willing to help as needed. The facility is in need of an overhaul but the location is great, easy walk to either Canelands shopping centre or MacKay CBD. The secure parking was great. We would definitely stay in the location again with three other hotels to compare prices with, River Oaks is worth a look if staying in MacKay.

Service was great. This was a last minute reservation and they were very accommodating to me and my family! We had a great time here, room was spacious and quite equipped with everything we needed and the gym and pool was amazing too! Great spot, conveniently located near town close to the lagoon, mall and other eateries. Would highly recommend.

My room was a ‘hotel’ style room, very spacious, comfortable king bed, bathroom was clean with good water pressure in the shower; breakfast in the restaurant downstairs very nice. My only negative is the stains on the carpet in the room (105b), makes the room appear dirty.

The lounges in reception really need replacing - doesn’t give a good first impression. Carpet in room very worn. Housekeeping is hit and miss. Sometimes bed made but not always and missed us completely one day (as we returned late we couldn’t tell anyone reception was closed). Restaurant isn’t always open so forget room service. The room we were in was extremely hot for October and the Aircon doesn’t go lower than 19 so rather uncomfortable and doesn’t cool down until late evening. Rather disappointed as we often stay at Oaks (and are away usually 200-300 nights per year) and this isn’t their usual standard.

Great location handy to major shopping Centre. Felt like carpet had been cleaned prior to checking in as it was wet. Little disappointed that it was advertised with breakfast included which was part of the reason I chose this location, however the restaurant was closed for the Labour day holiday on the Monday.

Great location with shopping centre one block away. Plenty of restaurants to choose from within walking distance. Rooms were clean… staff were helpful .. this was the second time we have stayed here and will not hesitate to stay here again.

Hotel room was good, comfy beds but not good for a sleep in.. lots of sun light comes through the blinds early in the morning as blackout curtains are not used. Would be a lot better with blackout curtains. We were given a 10% card for the restaurant below and we were informed this was for all drinks/meals over the weekend - as we found out when ordering it is only dinner meals so that was a bit disappointing as we had brekky there everyday of our stay

This place is as corrupt as the 2020 US election. Arrived at 2.45pm and room wasn’t ready. Told to come back in half an hour. Finally checked in, bathroom floor wet and took about 3 hours to dry out. Next morning went for breakfast as it was included in the room, but told a water main had burst in the kitchen so no breakfast. Was told we would be credited breakfast, but haven’t seen a single cent credited. Tried contacting them twice, nothing but thieves and pimps running this joint.

I had a horrible nights sleep due to some kind of banging noise - like an opening and closing of a door - I alerted staff earlier that evening and asked if i could change rooms but there was no rooms avilable that night. I spoke to staff in the morning of this issue and they were kind and compassionate. Made me a coffee for my troubles and offered a complementry night stay for the terrible sleep i had, I got woken up at 5.30am and the banging was still going on around 10.30pm so I was so grateful and will give Oaks another try. Hopefully a better experience. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Will hope for a quieter room on my next stay.
