Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New York Staten Island

The rooms were cosy and clean but the staff need some serious customers service training. Front office were not welcoming, they advertise having a free shuttle every half an hour to the ferry port but it was never available and so we spent alot of money on taxis. There is also no restaurant on property as advertised.

Easy access to 440, clean property...plenty of parking

It’s not the best part of town and there’s no parking for the hotel. Had to drive around for almost 15 minutes to find a spot, to then walk with luggage and a sleeping toddler to hotel. The floors were dirty, even on the elevator. The tub stopper didn’t work and with a toddler you need a tub I tried putting a wash cloth over the drain, only to discover that the tub only looked clean. The washcloth was filthy when I picked it up to ring the water out. Not worth $340 for a night. Never again.

Was good ..not a fan of the parking lot there were not a lot of spots

The room and common areas were clean, bed was comfortable, daytime male front desk person was pleasant and greeted everyone. Person working the breakfast area was also very pleasant. Only downside was I didn’t realize how far it was from the Holland bridge into NYC or from hiking/things to do. The shuttle to the Staten Island ferry was nice but didn’t expect a 20 minute + ride or being the only one to use this service. Would highly recommend tourists spend more and stay closer to the city and take a look at Liberty State Park- beautiful walking paths with close view of rear of Statute if Liberty and the NYC skyline.

No parking was the worst and would've been happy to pay $40 so I did not have to drive around in circles

We chose this hotel because it had free parking, breakfast and ferry shuttle. There was a good amount of parking considering they were sold out, the breakfast was ok, the shuttle only runs every 2 hrs and you have to book it in advance so we didn't even get a chance to use it during our stay which defeated the purpose of booking here over the other hotels in Staten Island. The room smelled like wet dog, the toilet kept running, the TV doesn't fully shut off, the phone in the room didn't work, and there were a lot of random hairs all over the bathroom. I feel they could do a better job at cleaning the rooms. Most of the workers were friendly except the night front desk agent that seemed bothered when we stopped by, to inquire about the shuttle. The things that are out of their control were the other guests that were making noise at 5:20am on a Saturday. Standing outside our room talking loud, letting the doors slam constantly, turning the shower water on and off (everytime they did that, there was a loud screaching sound coming from the plumbing). The hotel should implement quiet hours! Maybe put signs to not let the doors slam because I didn't get any sleep after being woken up at 5:20am on a Saturday. I'm not a light sleeper, nor am I one to complain about every or anything but all these little things added up for me and I just felt I needed to leave a review. Hopefully management addresses some of these issues so future guests can have a better experience than we did.

I purchased a from for 3 nights. I checked in late that evening. When I took a shower after 2 mins the water went ice cold. The next morning the same thing happened. After going cold I stepped out for about 4-5 mins got back in and then it got extremely hot. After the 2 day I reported it to the manager and she did compensate me.

Was quite surprised that this was a Fairfield Inn & Suites due to condition of room. Very basic...but toilet ran, and there was a terrible stain/scratch in toilet...Literally had to run the water for a 1/2 hour to get hot water!!

First . The staff is great.. but beyond that the place Is in poor shape. Old and outdated is one thing .. but the room was dirty ! Take your shoes off in your room and your socks turn black ! Dirty bathroom .. mirror and walls smeared … bad.

Very clean, spacious with comfortable beds and very clean bathrooms with nice toiletries. Good Wi-Fi and wonderful breakfast. Staff pleasant and helpful. Would definitely stay again. Close to highway, but quiet with light blocking curtains.

The property once i entered the lobby was beautiful! It smelled great. Looked very clean and the staff was very friendly. My room was perfect. The walls are very thin so you hear everything and i heard doors opening and closing in the middle of the night for every night i stayed. It woke me up and i found that irritating because i kept thinking someone was trying to open my door. I couldnt relax.

The room was tight. No place to sit comfortably to watch TV. Basically, it's a place to go to bed, so it's very basic.

There was excessive noise throughout our stay. When someone used the bathroom in the neighboring room, it sounded as though my head was right next to their toilet. No noise insulation. Our door was installed in a way that it was about an inch away from the door jamb causing more noise from the hallway and a lot of light entering. There were washer/dryers in the hallway and someone was using them in the middle of the night so we had fun listening to that noise, too. Also, the room was tiny! One desk clerk was so uninterested in her job, it was like pulling teeth to get any information out of her and she didn’t even tell us that we had to reserve the shuttle for the Staten Island ferry even though I mentioned what a great service that was. As such, the shuttle was full and we had to take an Uber back or lose 2 hours. Thankfully there was one employee, Arnay, who was incredible. So, would I recommend the place—no.

Good hotel. King sized bed was great. They offered breakfast, but we never made it to that. There isn’t much to do in the area. The mall is a few minutes drive away. We popped in one evening. It’s a great mall. If you’re interested in taking the ferry into Lower Manhattan, it’s about a 30 minute drive to the ferry terminal. The hotel itself is in a quiet area. Room had a small fridge. No microwave.

On check in I was just handed the keys. Front of the build looks great. When you park behind the building it’s a different story. No microwave in the rooms. The smallest refrigerator they could find sitting on the floor in the corner on the rug.

The AC is not working and blowing too cold air. AC is just next to the bed. TV remote not working and internet service not connecting despite Marriott member.

Definitely a good place to sleep for the night. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable. Rest of the hotel was clean as well. Check in and check out was easy. Wish the rooms were a little more sound proof but that’s just the hotel experience. Only downside is the location of the actual hotel. Desolate area next to abandoned buildings and abandoned shopping area. Kinda gives the creeps at night, but once you are inside and close the curtains you forget about the actual area as it feels completely different inside

This hotel is full of warm, caring people who truly care about their guests and want to help in any way they can, and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We stayed here with our two young children for our first week after returning to the US from several years abroad, and it was a wonderful way to come back. Every encounter was a pleasure and every issue was solved quickly and with compassion. The breakfast is pretty good, too! And, of course, everything was clean and the room was very comfortable. Highly recommend.

Due to delays with my apartment, I was fortunate enough to find a hotel that was perfect for my situation. You would think the staff here knew you from the neighborhood. If you needed clean towels or to book last minute night, someone was there ready to help. These days, especially living in New York, customer service plays a part with decision making, I’ll choose this place ten out of ten times.

I arrived at 2 pm and was told I would have to wait until 3 pm, as that was check-in time. I have never had to do that before. I went to my room and closed over the bars for security. Some time later, there was a knock on my door. I move slowly due to disability and by the time I was almost at the door, the door was pushed in. Luckily the bars prevented it from coming completely open. I was horrified and thought I was being attacked. It turned out it was a worker from the hotel who thought the room was empty. Then a lady banged on the door. She said she was at the wrong room. When I called the operator it was the same lady who answered and later when I called the front desk the same lady said, "I have already told you there is no reason to be upset" as though what had happened should not have scared me. In the morning, I spoke to the man at the desk who had the same attitude. I did not sleep that night. I had chosen the hotel because it was a Marriott but it certainly did not meet Marriott standards.

The housekeeper walks into your room without knocking. There was no do not disturb sign was provided. The manager Jeff is the worst manager. He wasn’t even being sorry for housekeeper walking into our room without knocking or asking. We were literally naked laying down and housekeeper walked in. The manager Jeff and whole staff was rude. I had to check out without even completing my trip. Check out One Day in advance because there was no privacy.

Depending on the reason for booking a hotel, you basically get the same thing with most hotels, it’s the extras that can make or break the experience. I actually stayed an extra day because of the staff and the comfort level of being there. I booked a few days here and a day there,(total of two weeks if not more) due to the delays with my apartment. I can honestly say that each interaction with every staff member there regardless of their job description was a positive and helpful one. Customer service, top notch, that’s my two cents.

The hotel was very nice, clean and comfortable no complaints except for the smell outside, it seems like the landfill smell is still in affect in a major way. It is strong. Other than that it’s a very nice nook

It was close to the highway to be convenient, but not so close to get caught up in the nonsense that can occur.

For a NYC excursion, I would definitely stay here again. But, it’s next to the dump, so there is quite the smell outside, theres not much in dining or shopping nearby, and late night ppl drag race right outside so you get the squealing of tires and roaring engines. The staff don’t want to help either. But, the room is clean, there is a free hotel breakfast, and it’s a lot less hectic and much cheaper than staying in manhattan

The inside of the hotel is very modern and clean. Rooms are nice and updated. No restaurant or bar to relax at.
