Was listed by Expedia as having an elevator, instead no elevator and steep stairs 3 third and fourth floor rooms. Either Expedia is a horrible company or the hotel is lying. Hotel is over 30 years old, never had an elevator and never will. I have a bad back and can't climb stairs. Place is over priced, room was in front of the stairs so heard everyone

The view from the roof of the lake was nice. The room was fine and there was good hot water in the shower. The breakfast was simplistic and a choice between a local food of beans, scrambled eggs, cheese & tortilla or American food of fruit, scrambled eggs, toast & jam. The staff had poor English skills. There was a nice looking pool which we did not use.

Nos atendieron muy bien desde que llegamos, hasta pudimos dejar el carro después del check out en lo que regresabamos de pasear por el lago, la atención muy bien, el lugar muy bonito y la piscina fria, igualmente la disfrutamos

This hotel is better than most of the same standard. The bed linen was changed every day, there was a fresh towel everyday and a new roll of toilet paper regardless as well as new bars of hotel soap. This is quite an exceptional standard for the price of the room. The deep cleaning let it down however. The pool was always looked welcoming and clean but there was nowhere to relax around the pool at all. This was definately a disappointment and I found myself looking for other places that might allow day guests to use their pool. The breakfasts were lovely but there really needs to be more choice. There is American breakfast which is eggs or Guatemalan breakfast which is eggs. I did have to go and find somewhere else a couple of times just to avoid having eggs. Overall it was a lovely stay and is in a nice situation with views of the lake and not too much noise.

The property is clean and in a good location... The rooms are small & there are ants in the room. The reception is friendly but slow. Pretty typical for Latin America. The pool is very clean and modest in size, but there is no place to lay out and no furniture to do it on.

We really enjoyed our stay at Perla Maya! The location is beautiful with great views of volcanoes. It is off the beaten path which we enjoyed, as it provided a quiet & peaceful visit and it was amazing to sit outside for a delicious tipico breakfast! Room was clean, we had 4 ppl and it didn't feel too small, bathroom was very clean & spacious! The staff were very friendly & helpful with recommendations on getting around. Secure parking area is well lit & safe.

It was nice especially the view from the terrace and even from our 3rd floor room. It’s on the one end of town but we didn’t mind walking and it felt safe. Showers took awhile to get hot and low water pressure but nice atmosphere. Perfect midrange option.

A nuestra llegada nos comentaron que el desayuno estaba incluido al día siguiente, sin embargo, estuvimos esperando hasta 7:30 am y nunca nos dieron el desayuno. No cuentan con secador de pelo y las conexiones para toma corriente son escasas en la habitación. El lavabo tenía pequeños gusanos.

Walkable to the lake and main hotel area, at the edge of the town near a large parking area. Good panorama view on 3rd floor. It has a very loud circus next door that stops around 10pm. The shower works but has considerable mould. Bed was clean but hotel shows much evidence of low levels of maintenance.

The staff was so amazing and attentive. Our first room had an ant infestation and the bathroom ceiling had mold which caused a smell in the bathroom. There was no extra toilet tissue and you have to ask them for it. There should always extra bathroom tissue in the bathroom especially when 5 people are staying in a room. The mattresses on the bunk beds were super thin and you could feel the wood on your back. Very uncomfortable. The staff saw our first review and immediately offered to move us to a new room. We moved to a new room and the staff was so gracious to move our things while we were at our outings. The second room was nice but the shower was backed up like the first room. The breakfast was the highlight of our stay and the view on the top floor. There were 2 options for breakfast included in our stay both delicious. There is some noise at night from the neighbors, dogs, cats and rooster. The rooster at 12am was really a bummer. It was hard to rest. I want to express how grateful and amazing the staff were.

We really enjoyed our stay at Perla Maya. The view was amazing. We had a private terrace. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They provided a good breakfast. There were barking dogs in the neighborhood at night that could be annoying, but that seems common in the area. We would definitely recommend Perla Maya!

I ended up here when my other reservation was cancelled. The first room wasn’t very good - rock hard bed and couldn’t open a window to get any fresh air. The second room was better (great view of the volcano) but noisier (barking dogs) Also wifi didn’t reach the room and the shower didn’t have any hot water. Decided to just stick it out. They don’t speak a word of English so led to some confusion over how long I wanted to stay but we managed to sort it out eventually. The pool is nice but could use some lounge chairs so you can hang out there a bit. Breakfast lot was good.

El servicio excelente, el desayuno completo y muy bueno. Deben de mejorar el tener aunque sea un ventilador en las habitaciones ya que era cerrada y no tenia aire acondicionado, de noche da calor para dormir.

the place is nice from outside and it has modest rooms, I didn't like the fact that I only saw one electrical outlet in the room, bathroom had 0. and no shampoo and conditioner, they only provide bar soap. The room has no ac but they provide me a fan, which help a lot. But overall the place is nice, nice staff, the person in the front was really nice and gave me recommendations ( I ask for ).

The entire night dogs barking. After AM the roosters joined dogs with loud noise. We stayed 4th floor which had no hot water to shower and water was barely coming out of shower or faucet. Extremely low water pressure and we didn’t have wifi in 4th floor. The blankets were extremely itchy . Medium friendly staff . Not recommend

When I booked the hotel I chose to pay at the property. The hotel were exchanging to quetzales at a very high rate and said we had to pay 5% more if we paid with credit card. When I mentioned we were not happy they said “if you are not happy here don’t stay here” so we chose to not stay and looked for another hotel. I’ll give them 0 stars, bathrooms smelled like bleach and the property smell as full of mosquitos. Use this hotel as last option and also bring dollars in cash.

I booked two rooms for 4 adults and 2 kids. We arrived to the property and the staff was rude, they told me that I booked just one room, I had my reservation and confirmation with me, but they didn’t care. I was dissapointed about the way they handle the situation, the lack of customer service was bad, they didn’t even offer options to solve the issue. This is not a free service, we are paying for it, they could do better. At the end I left to find a different hotel.

Arrived at the hotel and the clerk tried to dump me in a cheap room instead, while I booked a deluxe room. They said the room was already occupied!?!! Not only that owner tried to charge me 20 euro more for a cheaper room. Breakfast and facilities okay but not great. Wifi was very poor.

La reservación no se cumplió como se solicitó en la aplicación, me terminaron brindado una habitación barata y pagué el hospedaje caro. Me dijeron que si me daban la habitación correcta tenia que esperar a las 06:00 de la tarde y debía entregar la llave y esperar, tuvimos que tomar la habitación que me dieron porque veníamos de un viae cansado y necesitabamos descansar, nuestro Chek in fue a las 03:00 PM, teníamos que esperar 3 horas o más.

Perla Maya Hotel was in a great location! It was easy and walkable to restaurants. shopping and ferry locations. The hotel staff is very exceptional, they make your stay feel like home. Thank you Jose Manuel, Domingo, Tomas and Daniel for making us feel safe and also thank you kitchen staff Claudia and Michelle for great breakfasts. I will definitely return to this hotel next time I come to Panajachel!

The staff here was incredibly hospitable and thoughtful. They sincerely want you to enjoy your stay and are kind and sweet. The rooms are basic, but comfortable, and it was a quiet place to stay.

Hay fotos tomadas en ángulos que no tienen nada que ver con el hotel, son engañosas…el hotel es viejo y totalmente descuidado, para ingresar tienes que agarrar un callejón peligroso y no está pavimentado gran parte del suelo, la persona que nos atendió por la noche se encontraba en estado inconveniente…tache para todo

The location is very close to town and the hotel ticks all the basics that are needed. I'd stay there again if we return to the lake

Walkable to the lake and main hotel area, at the edge of the town near a large parking area. Good panorama view on 3rd floor. It has a very loud circus next door that stops around 10pm. The shower works but has considerable mould. Bed was clean but hotel shows much evidence of low levels of maintenance.

The hotel was away from the main streets and would have thought it would have therefore been quieter but far from if! The noise of either dogs barking and/or cockerels at it throughout various points in the night didn’t make it a restful stay. This wasn’t the hotel’s fault though. Rooms are clean, breakfast was provided which is simple but nice. The staff were friendly but everything in Spanish so bring your translator!

We really enjoyed our stay at Perla Maya! The location is beautiful with great views of volcanoes. It is off the beaten path which we enjoyed, as it provided a quiet & peaceful visit and it was amazing to sit outside for a delicious tipico breakfast! Room was clean, we had 4 ppl and it didn't feel too small, bathroom was very clean & spacious! The staff were very friendly & helpful with recommendations on getting around. Secure parking area is well lit & safe.

A nuestra llegada nos comentaron que el desayuno estaba incluido al día siguiente, sin embargo, estuvimos esperando hasta 7:30 am y nunca nos dieron el desayuno. No cuentan con secador de pelo y las conexiones para toma corriente son escasas en la habitación. El lavabo tenía pequeños gusanos.

The view from the roof of the lake was nice. The room was fine and there was good hot water in the shower. The breakfast was simplistic and a choice between a local food of beans, scrambled eggs, cheese & tortilla or American food of fruit, scrambled eggs, toast & jam. The staff had poor English skills. There was a nice looking pool which we did not use.

The dirt road we turned into was a bit terrifying not knowing where we were headed, but once we arrived, a young man greeted us w a smile and asked if we were checking in. He led us to the lobby and I was so surprised at the cute and beautiful hotel. Breakfast was great, and the suggestions Jose Manuel gave us to go do where great! I will recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Panajachel!

El servicio excelente, el desayuno completo y muy bueno. Deben de mejorar el tener aunque sea un ventilador en las habitaciones ya que era cerrada y no tenia aire acondicionado, de noche da calor para dormir.

This hotel is better than most of the same standard. The bed linen was changed every day, there was a fresh towel everyday and a new roll of toilet paper regardless as well as new bars of hotel soap. This is quite an exceptional standard for the price of the room. The deep cleaning let it down however. The pool was always looked welcoming and clean but there was nowhere to relax around the pool at all. This was definately a disappointment and I found myself looking for other places that might allow day guests to use their pool. The breakfasts were lovely but there really needs to be more choice. There is American breakfast which is eggs or Guatemalan breakfast which is eggs. I did have to go and find somewhere else a couple of times just to avoid having eggs. Overall it was a lovely stay and is in a nice situation with views of the lake and not too much noise.

Not really to our like, specially for the price, we were expecting a more comfortable stay. The staff was very helpful, but the rooms felt like a more like a motel 6, no a/c, very noisy and you don't really have privacy as the other tenants are right outside your door. The pool gets turned off at 6 pm and there's a dirt road that you have to drive to get to it. Once again staff was very helpful, but that's about it.

There was noise from barking dogs next door. The mattress was very hard so we had difficulty sleeping. Also, the shades hit the wall when pulled down and made noise at night.
