Excellence Carmen Punta Cana - Adults Only All Inclusive

Loved everything about this resort. Only complaint was that neither of the hot tubs on our end of the resort worked all week. We told staff but they never got fixed. Otherwise, we loved it and will definitely be back!

Everything was great! Just didn’t like the fact the pools closes at 7p and that included your swim up pool as well, we’re all adults, we’re not children! We should be able to take a late night swim if we want, especially in our own swim up pool.

We felt that the property was clean and very accommodating. The food options/portions were really good for an all inclusive resort. I do wish that there were more pools. There are 2 pools and one of them has a swim up bar. Nonetheless, a very beautiful resort!

This is a fairly newer respect that is just beautiful. The beach was serene, the food was great but the staff!! Amazing people. Charlie did a great job setting us up with drink on the beach. Minerva and Ivanelsea were just such friendly faces to see daily at breakfast and dinner! The spa was simply the most serene I have felt in a long time and we loved the couples massage! The Excellence Club is the at to go. The food and drinks were so worth it! We will be back!

Beautiful property with well-maintained grounds. Plenty of space to lounge throughout the property, plenty of restaurant choices. Uncrowded beach and pool area. Spacious suite with swim-up pool and in suite jacuzzi. Well stocked mini-bar. Staff was great, always welcoming and helpful. Fun beach side entertainment and activities. Great place to relax and unwind.

Very well maintained property, with a beautiful beach. There was some sargassum on a couple of days, but they were working really hard to remove it. Staff is what makes this property excellent. They were kind, helpful, personable, and genuinely trying their best to make us feel spoiled. From housekeepers to waiters and bartenders and members of the entertainment team, they all did their best to ensure we had a great vacation! A few names worth mentioning are: Hanser (breakfast, set up chez isabelle for us), Estevinsion (who whooo), Robinson, Irenise (housekeeping) and Yari, Carlos, and Miss Kayla from the entertainment team. You are the reason why we will return!

This is our 2nd time so we obviously like it. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and staff took good care of us. Food was always good. My only feedback that I would really appreciate if action can be taken is the muggy or moldy smell of the room. They did provide us a dehumidifier all throughout our stay but it does not totally eliminate it. It can be a health hazard also for folks with respiratory issues. I suggest that they thoroughly check all rooms specifically the air conditioner vents. I suspect the issue is primarily coming from it. But, like I said, their service, amenities, food and drinks are outstanding. I just wish they get rid of the muggy or moldy smell of the rooms permanently.

The room was cleaned every day, but the floor was not swept all week. By the end of the week we were walking on sand. The food was great, but could have been hotter.

I never leave reviews but this deserves one. It was a good experience at excellence. The hotel grounds were very well maintained. The rooms were spacious. And the food was actually pretty good overall. Only thing is my room was super wet feeling and smelled. They brought us a dehumidifier and we kept it running the whole time and it definitely made it a whole lot better.

The food was very good and the drinks were great. Our room was beautiful and the maid service was fantastic. Always clean towels. It was exactly what we were looking for a peaceful restful vacation.

I loved the swimup pool, food, and entertainment. Majority of the staff were friendly and the property was very relaxing . I disliked the mildew smell in my room, the couch was stained and old, and the theater seating was not clean or comfortable.

The staff were great. Friendly and very helpful. The front desk staffs were rude at times. The rooms were not that clean. The bathroom and bath tub. The bathtub seemed like it was never cleaned. Got disturbed by staff multiple times each day as they have different people doing different task. I would have preferred 1 person taking care of the room instead of being disturbed 3-5 times each day. Staff walked in when i was in the shower twice.

My sister and I stayed 7 night and 7 days at this resort. When we first arrived, they didn’t have proof of our booking and weren’t very nice to us about it. We pulled up the booking on our end and they then took us inside and printed off room cards for us, and told us to sit and wait for our bell boy to take us to our room. We waited 30 minutes before a staff member came back to us and asked us what we were waiting on. He informed us our bell boy had left us already and we needed to find the way to our room, which was fine. We experienced the same thing leaving, where the bell boy said he would pick our luggage up at 9:30 am for us. We stopped in our room at 9:40 for a final walk through and nothing had been picked up so we took our luggage up ourselves which again wasn’t a big deal but it is advertised and we were told they were going to do something they didn’t. The house keeper did not clean our room daily. Our floors were dirty after the first day because we went on a buggy tour and she never cleaned the floors. I also cut myself and got blood in the bed, and we left for a day trip and when we came back that night our bed had been made and when I pulled back the blankets the bloody sheets were still on the bed. One afternoon, we were napping on the patio, the housekeeper came out on the patio to grab the trash and I woke up. She said hi to me and I said hi back and laid back down. After about an hour I decided to go in, and I went to the door and she had locked us out.

Empleados muy amables. Julio nos atendió en lobster house, the grill y en teppanyaki y su trato fué excelente. La comida muy buena. Los previos del hotel limpios. Lugar tranquilo, donde pudimos descansar. No obstante, cuando llegamos la habitación tenía los sanitarios sucios, el jacuzzi con hongo (nunca se utilizó por esto) y el baño por las noches se mojaba todo el piso ya que el aire botaba agua. Esto lo notifiqué en front desk y solo me enviaron DOS toallas limpias para la habitación (ya que le mencioné que tuve que utilizarlas todas para ponerlas en el piso cuando el aire botaba agua)

My wife and i spent 10 days at Excellence El Carmen in Sept. It was our second stay at resort. We both spent our honeymoon here a year ago.the room, the staff, the food, and the property were second to none. Cant wait to return for the third time.

We were in a room that had poor AC service and was warm. We reported this to the property and they sent engineers to repair several times , but it never cooled properly and hotel did not offer to move us into a new room. This was not acceptable considering the cost for the package.

The ocean views were outstanding. The staff was accommodating. The facilities were immaculate.

The 2-story room with the plunge pool was soooo nice. We loved everything about our stay. The food and the staff were great. My birthday was well spent! will definitely come back.

The swim up junior suite was fantastic. All of the meals that we had were top quality and delicious. I can’t say enough about the staff , they were outstanding !

Overall, staff was great, friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious and nice except few things could be improved. Hangers in the closet were broken our stuck together. One of the taps in the bathroom was not fully functional. More lighting inside rooms, especially bedside. No door to bathrooms and shower may be somewhat inconvenient. We got upgraded to an ocean view suite because they originally didn’t give us a 2 double bed room as requested. The original room would have been in more isolated area with shower completely open view. Food was delicious although more take and go choices should be made available (e.g food truck) for lunch for people that like to enjoy more time on the beach. Pager system for waiting for restaurants is a good idea as you can be paged anywhere in the resort. The Grill, chez Isabelle, buffet stands out amongst all the dinner restaurants. Drinks at the Palms bar was excellent, always made with care. Revive bar had excellent juices and smoothies made to order. Although poor staff seems overwhelmed sometimes. A few Sun loungers on the beach were broken although still somewhat useable. Beach area was clean and well maintained. Night entertainment was good although prefer more live band music rather than shows (circus, legends, etc). Turn down service was great! Highly recommend!

The only problem that I had with my room is one piece of tile was lose. Unfortunately it is the point of entry/exit for the jacuzzi. Luckily i held on the wall to break my fall but I can for see a bad accident especially if intoxicated. Ieft my comment at the front desk. Hopefully it's fixed before the next guests arrival. Other than that I have no complaints. The resort is beautiful, the food delicious and the staff was freindly. Make sure to make you reservation for Spice (hibachi restaurant) at least a week before you arrive.

Our swim-up room was also top tier — clean, beautiful, and just steps from the water. Truly the perfect setup. The entire property is stunning, the staff are exceptional in every way, and the service is some of the best we’ve ever experienced. We will definitely be coming back.

The staff was equally amazing: attentive, kind, and always helpful. Our room was very nice, and upgrading to a swim-up pool was absolutely worth it—we highly recommend it! The beach itself is beautiful, but we noticed it’s rarely used. Unfortunately, the vendors selling items are extremely persistent, to the point where it became uncomfortable. Saying “no thank you” was never enough, and at times we had to leave the beach and go to the pool just to relax. That was really the only downside to an otherwise wonderful stay. During our trip, we also toured their sister resort, Finest, and were very impressed. We’re already looking forward to coming back with our kids to experience it together as a family. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would definitely recommend this resort!

I had a great time at Excellence El Carmen! The rooms are large, have plenty of amenities and plugs to charge all your devices. We ate at the delicious restaurants but had room service just as much. Service was quick and patient. I’ll definitely be visiting other Excellence locations after this trip.

From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. This resort exceeded every single one of our expectations, and we can confidently say, we will never stay anywhere else in Punta Cana. We don’t want to because nothing else could ever compare. Seriously!!! The People, OMG, the people! What truly set this resort apart was the people. We’ve never experienced hospitality like this. Every team member went above and beyond to make us feel like celebrities. Lol seriously! Special thanks to Leohandy and Richie (Welcome Concierges/Bell) your warm welcome set the tone for the perfect stay. Juana, the incredible manager of Las Olas your leadership shows in every corner of the resort.Rodrigo (The Chef) and Gloria (our amazing waitress at Las Olas) you made our daily special lunch requests happen with so much care, always delivering authentic Dominican cuisine that was absolutely delicious. The resort itself is very clean and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Outside of the resort and or excursions the area is extremely dirty. There is yeah absolutely everywhere. Closer to the airport got cleaner. The beach is not too appealing as well. Lots of seaweed and drift wood. Don't know if it's a season thing or not. Also the beach is very grey color.

The pools were excellent. Beach is beautiful. The only downside was the vendors that approach guests on the beach. The staff was friendly but some were a little less interactive than what we have experienced at Excellence resorts in Mexico. Well worth the money and I would definitely go again.

Wonderful relaxing getaway if you’re looking for a place to stay without the crazy club vibes. It’s far from all excursions and far from nearby local restaurants/shops, en exchange of being secluded and having that quietness. Best resort so far

The resort was very lovely, view from room was nice, far from the ocean, but we were able to see it. The beach was nice, they didnt really take care of it the way I have experienced at other resorts. Lots of seaweed came in and piled up on the shore, they just left it. Whereas most hotels I've been to rake it up daily and smooth out the sand. But it was still nice to just sit on beach and relax

My sister and I booked this for a long weekend getaway and it was perfect. The property was clean, staff friendly and helpful and the amenities on property were exactly enough. Only complaint was the seaweed, but we also didn’t realize we decided to travel during high seaweed season (late July/early August) so just be sure to check on that if you plan to get in the water!

Went here for our one year wedding anniversary trip. Expected your typical all inclusive stay, got way more. Typically you don’t go to an all inclusive and expect a culinary experience. The food at the restaurants we went to was amazing. Magna (excellence club only)..the 45oz tomahawk steak.. amazing! at Spice the Sushi! And sashimi. And the food at Agave was amazing. We loved the coffee shop went every night for coffee and a sweet treat. The breakfast buffet was great. Service was wonderful, they cater to you and are so friendly. You can even tell management was involved with interacting with guests. Our room was amazing too we have the two story plunge pool room. We want to go back already and would definitely recommend. One of our favorite trips & it was during hurricane Melissa, the weather wasn’t the best and we still had the best time!!! Also the entertainment!!! Karaoke night, tribute night, they even had acrobatics! It was so much fun!

Our stay here was a complete nightmare. While the staff were friendly on arrival, everything went downhill fast. The food was awful from the start — cheap meats, everything deep-fried, and questionable quality that left us both concerned. After a few days, my partner became violently ill with food poisoning so severe he was bedridden for three days and needed hospital treatment. I’d already raised concerns that some of the food tasted off, but nothing was taken seriously. When I tried to get him some plain bread from the buffet, I was told off and told food could only be ordered through room service — which only offered greasy fast food completely unsuitable for someone unwell. When we finally ordered bread, it arrived stale and inedible. A replacement was sent, and it was just as bad. Despite management knowing he’d been hospitalised, not one manager checked in on us or offered proper support. We were completely abandoned. To make matters worse, hygiene around the pool was terrible — guests smoked cigars and ate in the water while staff ignored it. This hotel has no standards and no care for guest wellbeing. If you value your health, avoid it at all costs. We wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.

Excellence El Carmen is a beautiful resort facility that is wasted by inept management. The resort has about a dozen dining options - but only 3-4 will be open any given day. All service interaction and information is done through a phone app - resulting in an experience where all vacationers are looking at their phones even more than usual. I had the unfortunate experience of falling ill to food poisoning from a dinner at one of their restaurants, from mishandled mahi, ruining multiple days of my stay. The resort has medical personal on site, but at a heightened cost. There was little to no concern from staff, nor ownership of the mistake. Things happen, but not being accountable was the nail in the coffin for me. I will not return to an excellence property solely due to that experience. A side note, the beaches were completely overtaken by seaweed during our stay, this is a force of nature and not one that can be attributed to this specific resort, but it seemed other resorts had heavy machinery in use to clear some of it away. Excellences solution was to have someone stand on the beach all day sweating through their clothes holding a pitchfork pushing things around every few minutes.
