Parking is very limited

I had a great experience. Uber had trouble finding it a few times. There’s no gym on site. The restaurants are ok but there’s dining in walking distance. It’s a cute boutique hotel!

Just wish the parking was better . Guest should be offered a discount on parking. But over all great spot. Close to everything.

Nice, stylish room. Our room was small but the smart layout made up for it. Our room, facing the neighboring condos was quiet. The common areas, especially the roof were really nice too. Only wish there was a gym!

We had a wonderful time at the Hotel Nell. Its atmosphere was eclectic and fresh. The hotel only has about 5 parking spaces so be sure to reserve ahead of time. But no worries, there is a garage next door.

Great boutique hotel about 1.5 miles from union station and 0.3 miles from Union Market. As such it’s not in the “heart” of downtown DC but close to the Metro. Love the roof top bar. Great value for the price.

Loved the overall aesthetic of the hotel. Rarely stay in boutique hotels but the price was too good to pass up. Overall, friendly staff. I will definitely give them that. Bartender on the rooftop bar didn’t seem like he really wanted to he bothered but he did his job and the drinks weren’t too bad. Only 2 things that would deter me from staying again is honestly the price for parking…$45 per night. Street parking is scarce! I was a bit sticker shocked after paying $90 for only two nights. I think its worth factoring in some type of validation or discount for driving guests. Also, $100 PER night for holds is unreasonable. So if I stayed 5 nights, a hold would be $500??? That’s a bit outrageous. Definitely wouldn’t do an extended stay for these two factors alone but one or two nights is cool! Didn’t worry about noise or cleanliness. That was all good. What you save on the room, you will definitely pay in parking. If you’re not driving, definitely a top 3 place to stay!

Great atmosphere and a lively rooftop bar/restaurant.

Hotel Nell is very cute with a rich history & the staff we interacted with was so kind but the parking situation is expensive & nightmarish. The staff seems a little confused on where you can park & when & there is an entire lot unused attached to the building which was incredibly frustrating. Our first night there was a drying fan on the floor in the hallway, I believe for a leak in another room, inconvenient but not at all an issue.. the second night the fan was no longer there & you could hear someone breathe too loud in the room next door. Wouldn’t likely stay again but mainly for the conveniences of parking & privacy, not because of quality or service.

Clean room and wonderful staff.

So, the staff was very pleasant and had smiles on their faces. Helpful and sweet What I didn't like was you had to reserve parking, an their was non. You had to make reservations at the restaurant upstairs. We didn't know that and had to order out. That was kind of disappointing. The shower was not clean and the sheets were not fresh. Overall, it's the cutest little boutique hotel. Now that I know about all of the reservations needed. I'll definitely return.

The hotel itself is beautiful but upon checkin my hotel room was dirty. The sheets weren’t wash, there was candy wrappers in the bed and the TV did not work. I want to give another try but I’m scared.

Selina Union Market DC Spent three nights here. The first problem was the so-called "experience fee" of $23 extra per night that they tried to charge us at check-in . Expedia had clearly stated how much our 3 night stay would cost (total due at check-in), and the "experience fee" was extra. In the end we paid for one night's "experience fee", and had 3 days of breakfast included (a sort of continental-type with cold slices of meat, bread, cheese - not bad). The room looked OK, but no tissues, hair dryer, iron, coffee maker, microwave, or fridge, not even a telephone to call the front desk - and we were paying more than $200 per night. Oh, and there was nowhere to put your clothes, no cupboard or chest-of-drawers - only a single structure consisting of a metal frame with 2 wooden shelves about 4 feet long. But the real problem was yet to come. The floor (wood laminate, or whatever) was FILTHY. It didn't look it, but in the morning after walking barefoot across the floor and stepping in the shower, the water ran black (and I mean BLACK not just dirty). I couldn't believe it so I rubbed a dry (not wet) paper towel on the floor of the bedroom, and it came up BLACK with thick dirt, anywhere in the room. So the bottom line for us was: it could have been a nice unusual hotel, with a nice foyer and pleasant rooms. But it wasn't!

It wasn’t bad but my room wasn’t cleaned for two days even when I called.

Room was clean, quiet and private

Wonderful in every respect. Staff was great, having 2 restaurants on-site was very welcome, and the character of the place is pretty cool. It's an old seed factory/warehouse so there's a lot of interesting architectural tidbits all over the place. Perfectly clean. Smaller rooms than I expected but tasteful. Very quiet rooms internally, the only noises came from outside, through the windows. Side note: parking sucks. The parking ramp is small and fully occupied and tight corners to get in and out, so don't bring your biggest car.

Wall are so thin I could hear everything next door. Entire conversations, TV and when neighbors got loud at 1am after a night out it was just unbearable. Got no sleep! Water pressure in shower was literally dripping. No control over room temperature at all.. thermostat not working. Overall miserable stay!

The hotel was fine. But the next time we stay there, we ask for a room NOT facing the main street. Could hear all the cars driving past.

Very nice place! After checking in, a staff member my friend a small drink voucher which I thought was nice. The place was very clean and was pretty. The room was pretty small and walls were pretty thin though. Besides that it was great for a quick stay!

When attempting to freshen up, we noticed there was no hot water in the sink. We informed the front desk and they were apologetic while moving us to a new room. The new room was smaller, but TV and outlets did work. Unfortunately, our keys stopped working for the new room on several occasions. When trying to inform the front desk, we noticed a lobby full of people with no one there to greet them. One of the guests told us they had been there for an hour waiting for someone to return. Kudos to the manager Adam for stepping in and getting everyone taken care of, but we still had key issues until checkout. Also, the Asian restaurant was not open the entire duration of our stay, but Treehouse and staff were very personable. Shout out to the gentleman with the dreads (we forgot your name, sorry!) for turning our experience around.

Hotel Nell was a solid choice for our short trip to DC. It’s surprisingly hard to find reasonably priced hotels in the city that offer two beds, and this one fit the bill. The location was great for our needs — an easy walk to the metro and with plenty of restaurants nearby. The coffee shop in the lobby was super convenient in the mornings, though I wish it stayed open later in the day. One downside: our room faced the highway side of the building, and the street noise was intense. We only stayed two nights, so we didn’t ask to move, but if you're booking a longer stay, I strongly recommend requesting a room not on the street-facing side. I've stayed in downtown New York and heard less traffic and sirens at night. We also checked out Union Market nearby, but were disappointed. Not much was open for breakfast, and even later in the day, options were limited — seems more like a lunch spot. Overall, Hotel Nell is a clean, comfortable hotel with good amenities and a very convenient location — just be mindful of room placement to avoid the noise issue.

The location was great. Room is very small. Shower needs better curtain as the floor flooded whenever you ran shower. Sink did not drain well. Rooftop bar is nice but music blasts until 3am

This hotel was perfect for a quick night stay. We stayed here just passing through DC for the night. The hotel walls were super thin so you can hear everything going on in the room next door. Cleanliness was okay. Towels were old and ripped. The staff was extremely nice and friendly.

Pretty sparse and underfurnished rooms - no dresser, fridge just sitting on the floor. Terrible lighting. Not especially comfortable - ok mattress on a cheap frame. Had 2 different rooms and the TV worked in neither of them. Key card locks on rooms are pretty finicky. Loud - lots of road noise.

Very convenient to Union Market area, which was our destination. Very clean; staff was friendly. Small rooms, but typical for a city. A/C was limited by thermostat to 64F. This led to a stuffy environment with no airflow, which made it hard to sleep well.

A zesty overall vibe and nice main dining room (never saw the rooftop bar) were not enough to overcome what appears to be a fairly botched buildout with many glaring construction errors left unrepaired, really noisy rooms with decor details that often felt amateur and half-baked, blasé / indifferent staff, topped off with a fairly hefty price tag.

Awesome experience. Remarkable staff, magnificent customer service. Will definitely be staying again if they intend to maintain the same energy.

I picked this property specifically because of the alleged in-house eating options. The first morning we were told there was no chef available so we couldn’t eat there and had to venture out. The next morning, we saw a small offering of food, but when we moved closer we were told by staff that it was only for a group of people sitting in the dining area. So again, no opportunity to get food in the hotel as promised. Also, the last night of sleep was really uncomfortable because the AC malfunctioned. We woke up to a room that was 84 degrees in the morning. I told the worker at the front desk about both of these issues and she said that a manager would follow up with us via email. I even corrected her when she read my email back to me incorrectly. I’ve yet to hear from any hotel staff. I’d also like to add that being a native Spanish speaker may be the only way to receive welcoming service from some of the staff. There were times when my presence wasn’t even acknowledged (at check in for sure). On a positive note it’s a super cute hotel. The rooftop bar has great food and drinks. However, if the idea of sleeping beneath a nightclub is off putting I wouldn’t stay here. It didn’t bother me because I knew what I was getting into, but it’s something people should be aware of.

I just returned from a 3 night stay at Hotel Nell with my teenage daughter. We both loved everything about our stay. Everyone was helpful and friendly from the front desk to the housekeepers, to the wait staff at The Treehouse and the little cafe in the lobby. One night I came down looking for coffee creamer and the cafe was closed but the front desk went over and poured me a glass of half and half to take up and keep in the refrigerator in my room. Much appreciated! This hotel is quaint and charming and it's in such a fun urban neighborhood with lots of great shops and restaurants as well as a Trader Joe's within walking distance. Before arriving we upgrade to the largest room the hotel offers and it was lovely; felt more like an apartment or Airbnb than a hotel and had a well stocked kitchen with dishes, refrigerator and a stove. We will definitely return.

I had a fantastic stay at Hotel Nell in DC! This boutique gem is stylish and comfortable, with a great vibe throughout. The rooftop bar is a major highlight—perfect for unwinding with a cocktail while enjoying city views. The location couldn't be better—just steps away from Union Market, packed with incredible dining options. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and memorable stay in the city!

A great hotel with lots near it.

Our stay was comfortable and very convenient. The front desk was courteous and welcoming. The location is great, providing walkable access to Union Market, La Cosecha and the NoMa metro station. I would highly recommending booking a room here.

Great hotel just outside of the congestion of the tourist areas. Close to metro, great staff and restaurants. The rooftop bar is a hidden gem. Utilize your sound machine in the room and you won’t hear any street noise at all.

Awesome boutique hotel. Decor in public space and guest rooms are very welcoming and comfortable. The main lobby and small outdoor balcony near elevator is the perfect place to sit and read, have a conversation or as I did waterpaint. The area is definitely a foodie adventure so many places to choose from. The Treehouse and cafe on site are very good. I recommend reservations for the Treehouse, the 2 times (5:30pm Wednesday &Thursday) I stopped in for an early dinner I was informed they had only bar seating. All the tabels were reserved. I was there about an hour and a half and only 3 tables has guests. Food is good and the waitstaff are pleasant and attentive.

Pretty boutique hotel in a convenient location near many dining options and just a 10 min walk from the metro. The hotel is pretty and well maintained and I overall enjoyed my stay. The only reasons I am not providing an overall 5 star experience is because my room was not cleaned over the entirety of my stay and that the hotel rooms are not properly insulated for noise, one can hear your next door neighbors having conversations or their very loud tv, same from anyone talking or just walking by in the hallway.

Breakfast was good but when it comes to pay the bill. I added the tip without knowing there was an auto-gratuity. Sneaky!

This was a birthday the gift for my fiancée! Overall everything was awesome! The only complaint was the Rooftop Bar! We were told we needed a reservation! While waiting to be seated, the staff weren’t very accommodating, the hostess had us waiting while there were open table, and bar tender never made eye contact why my fiancée, while she try to order our drink! Would definitely recommend Hotel Nell, but not the Roof Top!!!
