Excellent experience from check in to check out! We had a warm welcome and many excellent recommendations provided for the surrounding areas. Our room was excellent: spacious, clean, comfy and quiet (blackout curtains included)... everything we needed after a long day of travelling. The location is right off the main road and 10~mins from Downtown Vik. Breakfast was included with our stay and included an assortment of breads, waffles, cheese, cereal and eggs.

Property was off of Ring Rd. Anout 15 minutes outside of Vik. Near Black Beach and puffin viewing (unfortunately never saw any). Hotel is in a very isolated area, and offers a limited dining experience but need reservations. For a one night stay it fits the bill, no television except streaming, so know your passwords. Breakfast was good and was a good way to start your day. If traveling Ring Rd. Good place to spend the night.

The Volcano Hotel is small, privately run hotel with a limited number of rooms. The rooms are spacious with a large comfortable bed and sofa — a welcomed change from the cramped accommodation of the capital city. The staff was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable of the region. Breakfast is served daily and laundry service is offered for a small fee which was a life saver. The grounds are quiet and secluded, perfect for catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights without the need to leave your comforts far behind. A short 10 minute drive to town offers dinning options and shopping. Nearby is the iconic Katla Glacier and black sand beaches providing plenty of natural wonder to enjoy, in addition to the Dyrhólaey Lighthouse at the southern most point in Iceland where you have a breath taking view of the sunrise/set. We are so happy we stayed here and will certainly return on our next visit to Iceland.

We stayed in the Volcano hotel last year and really enjoyed it so we stayed for one night eastbound and another two nights westbound this year. There are no tea/coffee facilities in the rooms but limitless self-service facilities in the restaurant/lounge area with books to read and games to play. Excellent Netflix on the TV. Would definitely stay again.

Great location right on the main highway. Hotel is tucked away far from the street so no road noise. The host was very friendly and the breakfast was great. Room was spacious and comfortable. We got the room that you could park your car by it so it was easy to get the bags in and out. Dining area had a nice setup and there was also a cozy living room area set up for TV and board games.

A terrific place to stay near the Black Sand Beach and other local sites. It was very quiet, the room was large and very clean, and breakfast was great. The only downside was there was not a mini refrigerator in the room, but this is true of every hotel we stayed in outside of Reykjavik. Truly a wonderful stay.

Excellent location with beautiful views. The hotel is small and very comfortable. Very impressed with our room. Included breakfast was very good and it was especially nice that the dining area had access for hot tea/chocolate and coffee 24/7. Only a 10 minute drive to Vik which made this an excellent stopping point for our ring road trip. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Très bon séjour dans cet hôtel avec une chambre face à la mer. Grande chambre, literie confortable et très bon petit déjeuner. Parking gratuit juste devant l'hôtel. Juste une petite remarque, la baie vitrée de notre chambre était très grande et juste en face de l'entrée.

I have no idea how this “hotel” is highly rated. We had a very strong smell of urine in our room that wouldn’t go away. We encountered many spiders and flies in the room and near windows. Staff are not pleasant to deal with.

Bei diesem Hotel hatte ich mir mehr erwartet. Zwar war das Zimmer schön groß (ich hatte zwangsweise ein Dreibettzimmer gebucht, weil nichts anderes mehr verfügbar war) und nett eingerichtet, aber leider gab es überall schon ein paar Abnutzungserscheinungen, und der Kühlschrank war innen so eklig versifft, dass man nichts hineinstellen wollte. Das Frühstück war das enttäuschendste auf meiner ganzen Reise. Es gab wirklich nur die Basics, nicht mal hartgekochte Eier. Die vermutlich tiefgekühlten und aufgebackenen Croissants waren halb verkohlt, Schüsseln fürs Müsli gab es auch keine (mehr). Insgesamt leider eine sehr enttäuschende Erfahrung.

The Volcano Hotel was outside of Vik situated by itself. The room was very nice with heated bathroom floor. The quality of the stay was surprisingly really good after the first impression when driving up. It is a small hotel but everything inside was very nice. Breakfast the next morning was better than most places we stayed at.

We stayed at the Volcano Hotel for just one night, and we arrived after 9pm. Our key was left on the concierge desk with a very nice note. 😊 This room was by far the smallest we stayed in during our 8 day visit to Iceland, but it was very clean and the bathroom was large and modern. We slept past breakfast, which I believe ended at 9:30, but it smelled really good. Our room was close to the common area where breakfast was served, so we were able to hear quite a bit of noise in the morning, but we needed to get going for the day anyway. This hotel is in a great location, and we very much appreciated the guest book in the room that included some must see sites relatively close by. I don’t know if I would stay here again unless it was just for one night, but it was a fine stay for what we needed.

This lodging doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside, it is modern and lovely. We had an ocean view room, which meant we could see a small part of the water across the landscape. Excellent breakfast, we did not make a dinner reservation in time but it smelled fabulous. Prime location to visit Dyrholeay and Reynsifara Beach.

Das Gebäude ist sehr ringhörig. Man hört den Nachbarn Duschen uns das Klo spülen. Es war sehr sauber. Was wir besonders geschätzt haben, ist die Garderobe. Man hat viele Kleiderbügel um die nasse Kleidung aufzuhängen. Auch war toll, dass man immer Zugang zu Tee hatte. Das Personal ist supernett und macht einen sehr guten Job.

The exterior of the building looked like a tired old motel, we joked that it reminded us of Schitt’s Creek. However, we learned at check in that the building was once a school and the seven rooms (apparently each a classroom) were very spacious - plenty of room to spread out. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, shower in bathroom was tiny. Staff members were friendly. Breakfast include delicious home made breads and scrambled eggs. As for the exterior, as we traveled through the area we realized that most buildings looked similar.

Volcano Hotel was great for our group of 8. It was clean and the dining/common area was nice for gathering. Breakfast was wonderful! There were no controls for heat in individual rooms and at least one was too warm. There were some issues with no response to emails prior to our arrival and there was no one to check us in when we arrived but were responsive a while after we messaged. The location was good for getting to Vik and nice and dark for viewing the northern lights, which we were treated to, even from the windows of our room. I would definitely stay there again.

The girl overseeing everything during our two-night stay at the hotel is fantastic. She cooked the most delicious scrambled eggs every morning, helped with all our requests, and provided the best laundry services for us, on top of everything else she is responsible for. Her superb service was greatly appreciated and made our stay at the Volcano Hotel the most enjoyable.

I have no idea how this “hotel” is highly rated. We had a very strong smell of urine in our room that wouldn’t go away. We encountered many spiders and flies in the room and near windows. Staff are not pleasant to deal with.

This lodging doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside, it is modern and lovely. We had an ocean view room, which meant we could see a small part of the water across the landscape. Excellent breakfast, we did not make a dinner reservation in time but it smelled fabulous. Prime location to visit Dyrholeay and Reynsifara Beach.

It's outside Vik but convenient to drive to it. It's also close to the black sand beach. It's quiet and clean. The rooms are spacious. Breakfast is nice, especially since there are no restaurants nearby, which provides extra convenience for travelers.

Property was off of Ring Rd. Anout 15 minutes outside of Vik. Near Black Beach and puffin viewing (unfortunately never saw any). Hotel is in a very isolated area, and offers a limited dining experience but need reservations. For a one night stay it fits the bill, no television except streaming, so know your passwords. Breakfast was good and was a good way to start your day. If traveling Ring Rd. Good place to spend the night.

We preordered a yummy dinner of lamb and char with dessert. We watched the Northern Lights from our bed. So cool. Breakfast was tasty too. Friendly and helpful staff. Recommend.

We would absolutely stay again. This boutique hotel, which started out as a school house has the feel of a wonderful bed-and-breakfast. The staff is very small and wonderful. The person who welcomes you and checks you in is the same person who makes your dinner reservations and asks you what you would like for dinner so she can prepare it. There were three entry choices. All were delicious. Breakfast was also very good. Unfortunately, it was cloudy the evening we were there, but on a clear night this is the ideal location to see the northern lights.

We had a fantastic stay and only wish we could have stayed longer! The place was peaceful, relaxing, and perfect for unwinding. The complimentary breakfast was a lovely bonus, especially enjoyed with the beautiful view. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, making our stay even more enjoyable. We'd happily stay here again and highly recommend it!
