The property was decorated really cool inside. Each floor had a theme. The stairs are super crooked so my mom wouldn’t have made it up there, but I feel like it added to the unique charm of the place. A little far from Times Square, but the surrounding area was nice and very close to Eataly! The shared bathroom was different, and not ideal, but it worked fine. I had an early checkout due to my flight and was told someone would be at the desk but when I was trying to leave, I had to hunt someone down. Overall, 4/5 this trip.

There are no elevators but they make it very clear so no one should rate it lower because of not having elevators. Also, bathrooms are shared but I never had to wait and it was super clean. So these are the only two drawbacks if they are must haves then don´t consider. But otherwise, knowing these it is a five star for cost benefit. Will stay again!

I was able to check-in earlier which was a plus. The staff were pleasant, and there is coffee/tea available all day. The reception area is just someone sitting by the front door with a laptop on a coffee table. The rooms are very basic (as expected), but good for the price/location. My main gripe is that the restrooms need better ventilation for how much they’re used. It’s constantly humid in there. There’s no elevator, so keep that in mind if you have heavy luggage.

Trendy hotel. The shared bathroom situation wasnt bad and i never had to wait. Staff was friendly. There is no elevator so you get the full NYC experience where a lot of buildings still dont have elevators. Free tea and coffee on level one. The room felt clean. The TV and music channels didnt work in my room. It kept lagging and finally cut out. Later I put on the white noise storm channel which was nice except it was interrupted every few minutes by commercials-kind of defeats the purpose of a white noise channel. The room was small but well designed. I would only wish for a small lamp thats dimmable instead of the harsh lights or nothing; and for a shelf or luggage rack since no where to out my back except the desk.

Everything you need for a short stay in the heart of NYC! Just steps from all major trains and right across from Eataly (amazing coffee, pastries, and other Italian goodies.) The rooms are small (hey, it’s Manhattan!), but cozy and efficient. Heads-up: showers are shared, so pack some flip-flops. Bonus: Fresh coffee and HOT tea all day long. Thank you for the excellent experience!

The room was clean, there's a small sink inside and the 2 shared restrooms each floor often get cleaned regularly, thank you for that! The staff was friendly enough. You shouldn't have such high expectations coming here, I think for the price and the convenient location, it's a fair trade, however this is better if you travel alone or if you're younger, athletic because you do have to walk up the stairs every day (no elevator). I came here with my mom and although I have no problem, she did find it a little difficult walking up the older, uneven wood stairs, and she's is still healthy (close to 60yo) There are eataly restaurants/market and the subway station very close by (3 mins walk) so that's a huge plus. I wouldn't mind staying here again if the price is right

Great location, and clean room. The shared bathrooms seemed to be regularily cleaned and had no issues with access (the rooms have sinks which is extremely helpful). The front desk experience was interesting. While i didnt feel very welcomed (and room wasnt ready for check in until 4:30 pm), I did appreciate that someone was always on site. To sum up, I think The Flat is good value for dollar and would stay there again if travelling solo/wanted a competatively priced option.

I loved how clean and safe this hotel is. Beds are comfortable, modern looking furniture, hallways smell nice. Bathrooms are shared but they were available and clean every time i needed to use one. Also, there are sinks in rooms. The hotel has very convenient location, close to a lot of restaurants and shops. I would definitely stay here again.

Clean, convenient hotel with just the basics; you get what you pay for. No free toiletries. No bathrobes, no slippers, no hair dryers in the bathrooms. The mattress was comfortable, and the room had nice bright lighting. The in-room sink was a plus. I appreciated the common refrigerator, coffee and tea bar, and the ice machine on the first floor. Friendly. helpful staff.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The rooms are very clean, nice bedding, great area, staff very friendly, great coffee. I was on one of the higher floors which if you’re not particularly fit could be an issue but for me it wasn’t. The only “complaint” is they use a really highly scented detergent for sheets & towels & I’m very allergic to fragrance so I would recommend going lighter on that but overall this is absolutely fantastic place to stay for the price

Staff was wonderful, the place was clean and centrally located. The only thing that was a real shame was the poor quality of the window that meant the room was cool and every single sound from the NY streets could be heard. So getting a good nights sleep (even with ear plugs) was not possible.

Stayed for 5 nights. Fantastic location, walking distance to everything. Room was good, bit noisy by the stairs but earplugs did the trick. Bathroom access never an issue. Room 305 needs a chair or table to put your bag/clothes on. Room is bare with just a bed and a little bedside table. I would definitely stay here again!

The Flat is worth considering if you're looking for lodging in Manhattan that's (for the most part) a notch less expensive than most others. The staff was pleasant, easygoing, and professional. I stayed in a bunk + private bathroom, which was clean with nothing to complain about. I do think it's fair to advise potential guests on the following: while on a relatively quiet part of the street, the building itself does produce loud noises. The HVAC/plumbing jolted me awake about every half hour. It wasn't too bad in my case because I didn't really need to be well-rested. But someone else, who's a light sleeper and does need the rest, might be distressed by this. And don't forget that there's no elevator (which isn't a criticism of the property - I think some travelers might overlook it in the description).

Great staff and location. Room and bathrooms were clean. Window was very drafty and needs more insulation and double panes . I had to sleep with my head at the foot of the bed and use extra pillows to block the draft from window.

Chic, cozy, and perfectly located, the FLAT NYC was a great stay. The room amenities are sparing, but my room was super quiet and clean. Front desk employee Isaac was a real gem—a real ambassador for the hospitality industry.

Terribly unfriendly staff. There was a fire in the hotel and they left everyone with no accomodations. And selectively refunded some people, not sure based on what. So I'm on the street with no room and all my things are wet

Had a great 4-day stay at The Flat. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. There is a lovely relaxing vibe to the place. The decor is great. What I really liked was the fact that the bed was really comfortable, and that’s all I needed. Shared bathrooms were clean and modern, and I never had to wait once to access one. The location is also superb. 2 mins from Madison Sq Park, very close to the Subway, and surrounded by great places to eat. Would definitely stay again.

Totally fine. Excellent location in manhattan. Free water and coffee makes all the difference and prob saved $15 a day. I was on the fifth floor and had no issues whatsoever. Even in a high end hotel in the city you’d probably want earplugs if you’re on the fifth floor so this place is no different. Would definitely return.

This location was ideal, to attractions within walking distance, subway, train etc. The staff were accommodating and friendly. The cleanliness was great. They stored my luggage prior to checking in and out. It was everything I needed for my stay and plans in NYC. Thank you.😁

Lovely location very close Flatiron Sq. near 5 Ave, Madison Ave and Broadway. Very easy to walk up and doen Manhattan. The hotel is clean and I did not have any problem with the shared bathrooms. There are teamaking facilities and you can leave food in the fridge.

Very good location. Staff helpful and friendly. Very clean rooms and bathrooms. One challenge, very noisy in front with delivery truck drivers working all night, no sleep for me as I like sleep at night and get up very early. However, transferred next day to available room in the back. Will stay again.

I had a great stay at the Flat, NYC. No frills hotel, never had to wait to access the shared bathrooms, bed was really comfortable, noisy at night with noise from outside (not from other guests) but that’s expected in New York so bring earplugs, just a really great stay. The location is perfect, and so many great places to eat nearby and lots of supermarkets just a couple minutes away too.

Staff was incredible and they kept everything clean despite there being shared bathrooms, it wasn’t even a problem. Loved having the bar downstairs it was like finding a hidden gem in the city. I would definitely recommend this place
