Hilton Garden Inn Stoke on Trent

The one thing that stands out to me is there is no obvious area to stop the car, unload baggage and check in. I found a small lot behind the building and left my car there as I walked back to the front to check in. The car park is actually across the street and once that was explained to me it wasn’t too much of a bother.

The location is very central. Free laundry is excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Only downside is that the car park is across the street, so no cover while checking in and out. Restaurant food was high quality and breakfast outstanding. The chef catered for dietary restrictions in a friendly way.

Quick check in, free laundry facilities and amazing breakfast. Visiting Stratfordshire University with my daughter.

Convenient for our trip to Alton towers, unfortunately after the first night our bedroom wasn’t made, no clean towels or linen despite leaving the note to state we wanted our room made. We had to ask for new towels after getting back around midnight. Also, car park is extremely narrow and tight, would recommend parking in the private paid one next door.

Car park not free and not next to the hotel. No concierge which makes you to struggle taking your luggage to your room. Room is quite and clean. Room size is good and comfortable.

We booked the hotel to visit our daughter who is starting University very shortly. Historically we had been to many Hilton’s as my husband used to travel for work but no longer does. The hotel was modern, light, clean and the rooms spacious. However, we brought our well behaved dog as the hotel said it was pet friendly, this is not really the case. Yes, you can have your pet in your room but you cannot bring them into the restaurant and you also cannot leave them in the room while you eat. Therefore, unless you want to eat in staggered stages, don’t bring your dog. The breakfast was a little basic, but it had all the standard food. If you disabled and cannot walk v far, there no disabled parking outside the hotel it’s across a busy crossing, across the road. I had sent a message asking where the parking was but received no reply, so rang at the drop off point. You had to walk down 4/5 steps and along to get to reception. I could manage this but not everyone would be able too. As a mention the pillows were awful, nearly flat had to use a towel underneath to give them any height. Overall for one night it was fine like an airport hotel but it didn’t really give off a vibe that would mean I would stay longer

A new property and level of service was excellent as to be expected Only criticism is in finding the hotel car park. This is a paid for car park, paid upon arrival. At a fee of £9 I would expect signage to the car park to have been better.However, the signage from highway approaches are terrible. This needs addressing.

Directions to parking (" on the opposite side of the road") were misleading as the access is, in fact, from a blocked off side street whose entrance was some several hundred meters away and not clearly signposted. . Full 15 mins wait to check in; only one staff member on duty; visit was on a bank holiday. Could not operate A/C in room resulting in a very disturbed night\'s sleep in an overhot room; no alternative natural ventilation available. Breakfast; highly unsatisfactory. (Even the girl at checkout said without prompting that it was "totally chaotic").At 09.00 the restaurant was badly overcrowded with people eating (and leaving a mess) all through the reception area. One of the coffee machines had run out of milk, mugs ran out twice, no cutlery/crockery available, self serving area dirty, yoghurt and fruit dishes empty, floor of restaurant dirty, obvious shortage of staff to refill/replace items/clean up between diners. (When challenged, the general manager did apologise for staff shortage and was himself very helpful and apologetic). Further long wait to checkout at about 10.00hrs. Again only one MoS on front desk. Although the individual MsoS were friendly and polite, that could not hide the fact that they were barely able to cope due (apparently) to staff shortages. These facts and the "chaotic" breakfast and dirty, noisy, restaurant area all amounted to a most unsatisfactory visit. I could not recommend this hotel to anybody.

Not happy with room and service this time. Booked a Queen room, was under the impression the bed would be big, it wasn’t, was told the ‘King room bigger’ I requested ’Non feather duvet & pillows’ on my booking as have severe allergies. Got in room & feather duvet & pillows on bed. Made two enquiries to have them changed, waited ages in which time allergies had kicked in, blocked nose, itching etc.. only for a non feather duvet & pillows to be brought to the room, which I had to put on myself as was told ‘it’s a privacy thing’, then had to ask for pillow cases as non brought. Red wine all over floor/carpet near bedside table & sticky under table so not cleaned properly. So overall not up to standard in my opinion.

Stayed here twice previously since 2021 and now not as good. Stained carpets. Stained towels. Grubby in places. Stained seats in restaurant. Generally short staffed in bar and restaurant with average food and service not good enough for the price charged. Needs Hilton to freshen things up and get the standards back.

Great hotel, excellent staff who can’t do enough for you. Comfortable huge bed and super clean throughout.

Nice new hotel with clean rooms. The air conditioning did not work in our room, we reported it and ask for it to be repaired. This never happened. Checkin was slow due to a lack of staff, dinner service was slow due to a lack of staff and the staff that were working appeared to have no knowledge of the menu or wine list. Many things on the menu were not available but the waitress did not know this, so had to reorder twice. Breakfast was ok, self service buffet with limited options

We booked this hotel to be near Emma Bridgewater and had never stayed in a Hilton Garden Inn before. We were delighted with the room - larger and much lighter than Premier Inn rooms, larger bathroom, good quality toiletries and very friendly staff. Will definitely look out for this chain in preference to Premier Inns in future!

The hotel was lovely clean and staff and breakfast were great Just the bed was so uncomfortable it was rock hard and lead to poor nights sleep and aches so it spoiled it unfortunately

Stayed for 3 nights with not a single good night sleep as the air conditioning keeps shutting off every few hours. Asked the receptionist about it on the first night but nothing changed. Probably trying to conserve energy but the room gets really stuffy and hot without the air conditioning on so I have to keep getting up to turn it on as I had my toddler with me.

Staff were friendly. Breakfast was good. Room clean but very warm and stuffy, especially after a shower

Hotel was lovely. Rooms clean and spacious, breakfast good value for money and under 18’s eat free which was a bonus.

The hotel itself was fantastic, however the beds are terrible. Had no sleep it was like sleeping on a brick.

Stayed for convenience for onward journey and it ticked the box. It feels like there’s not much sound proofing as you can hear everything from the adjoining rooms, banging doors to people in the corridor banging doors. It was reasonable and did what it needed to do. Person on reception checking us in had zero people skills…something quite important as the first port of call

Check in staff member was horrendous, there was not enough tables at breakfast so we were told to wait then groups the same size of ours were seated first. Looks like none of the staff wanted to be there

This Hilton has rooms which are clean and quiet, beds are good but no option to ventilate the room. The restaurant facilities can’t be worse: at opening time of the restaurant we ordered food and 10 minutes later you are told to order something else because they ran out of it. As we had chosen something else, the response was: “Is THAT all, you want nothing else?” In a very arrogant way. Then they even expect a tip afterwards. During Checkout, the receptionists were unable to produce an invoice. I wanted to know how much and for what I would be charged. This was the wrong question as the receptionist in jogging-trousers became very unfriendly. This is not what I’m used to experience in a Hilton Hotel!

I am writing to provide feedback on my recent stay at your hotel. Unfortunately, my experience was not up to the standards I had expected, and I feel it is important to bring this to your attention. I stayed for one night with my family, and during our stay, we encountered a significant issue with the room. Specifically, none of the electrical sockets in our room were functioning. This meant that we were unable to charge our mobile phones and laptop or use essential items like the hairdryer, which are basic needs during a hotel stay. I reported this issue twice via room service and even went to the reception around 11:00 PM to seek assistance. Despite my efforts, the customer service team repeatedly assured me that someone would come to the room to resolve the issue, but no one ever arrived. This situation was highly disappointing and caused a great deal of inconvenience for my family and me. As paying guests, we expect basic amenities like functioning electrical sockets to be in working order, and we were let down by the lack of response from your staff. I hope you take this feedback seriously and ensure that such issues are addressed promptly in the future. I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter and provide some form of resolution or compensation , thanks

Overall, it was fine. No major issues, but I have stayed in many Hiltons in my time, and it just felt slightly underwhelming to have the Hilton brand associated to this hotel. The check-in was really poor, and I do not blame the front desk staff directly, but whoever is responsible for staffing should be embarrassed. It took between 50 minutes to an hour to get our keys to our room. Breakfast was fab, and the staff on the whole were friendly, but again, I have been to Hiltons where the service came with a smile, and things were never too much fuss. Here, at times, it felt like we were putting people out, when asking a question.

It is not a reflection of staff but generally service levels were below standard and seems more of how they are setup to do by Hilton. 1. Room booked as per Hilton website to accommodate a family of 4. There were no additional beds in the room on arrival because house keeping team must have missed it while preparing room and they are not around 24 hours. Wasted 1 hr and only after kind lady at reception prepared another room herself. 2. Restaurant is open till 10 pm for dinner but no room service after 9 pm or last orders by 9:15 pm. Not informed when asked about this at check-in. Again, staff served dinner for our order placed just around 9:15 pm but a reflection of how Hilton is saving costs at the cost of service.

Decent hotel, good location for event we were attending. Clean room, breakfast was nice, useful bar, friendly staff.

Being terrorised by a homeless person outside of the property. Obviously not a new thing for staff … as their nonchalant attitude did not help matters. Front desk receptionist was rude and unhelpful. Restaurant staff were amazing as was the food!

This hotels is beautifully presented, it was just a shame that the service received wasn’t of the same standard. The reception on arrival was lacking in any welcome or information about the hotel. The front of house team were all trying their best, but it was obvious that they were lacking in any managerial guidance or leadership. They only team member with good people skills was the night porter. What a shame!

Second time we've stayed here and can't fault it. We included breakfast this time and enjoyed it - choice and quality was good. Located right next to centre of Hanley. We would stay again, free definitely.

The hotel itself was very good and the staff helpful. Parking was quite expensive. The area the hotel is in didn’t feel quite safe in the evening and there were not many restaurants nearby.

This hotel is real find , the beds are so comfortable and a great size , have stayed her twice now and it is excellent, great parking , great location for the theatre and restaurants highly recommend

The hotel was fine. The bar area was nice and modern and the room was large. Its a short walk to the city centre. We were there for the theatre and could walk there from the hotel in 10 mins. Fine for an overnight stay.

We didn't really do much in the surrounding area so we have no idea if this was near anything. It was annoying to have to park over the road and lug our cases from the carpark across from the hotel. The restaurant was booked up as there was a coach party staying, so we could not get dinner until after 8pm. Breakfast was good, hotel was nice, staff were nice. Would probably stay again if in the area.

Hotel is very nice, good facilities, clean. However, do not eat here unless you like microwave food. Very disappointing for a Hilton. Myself and my colleague had the lasagne. Very dry, not fresh. Had better from Lidl the week before. Also, the starter I ordered was leak and potato. It was orange when served. Pretty sure it tasted like carrot and coriander as well....

Parking across the road not ideal, and drop off area unclear and nowhere near the hotel. A bit disappointed tbh

Air conditioning was broken so way too big in room, ordered Nachos from the dining menu and they were appalling, wasnt fresh, melted cheese had gone hard and cold, everything in the plate was cold, complained to staff and was agk d if I wanted it warmed up, you dint warm nachos up, not even an apology and was getting dirty looks from the men er of staff, made me feel very uncomfortable
