Motel One London-Tower Hill

This hotel is in a great location, bars, restaurants and convenience stores. Underground station is nearby with excellent network to all places of interest. Staff are super friendly and helpful. The front bar area is lovely for relaxing, I will definitely stay here again.

The rooms don’t have any closets, irons, safes or phones to call the lobby. There’s nowhere to put your clothes. This should be posted prior to booking.

I recently stayed at Motel One, and while the experience had its highlights, there were some notable drawbacks. The location is absolutely fantastic . The room was spacious enough, and the bathroom was equally well-sized, both maintained at a high level of cleanliness, which I appreciated. However, one issue really stood out: the pillows had an unpleasant odor, like greasy, unwashed hair or a lingering human smell. Despite the pillowcases clearly being clean, it seems the smell was embedded in the pillows themselves, which was off-putting and affected my comfort. The staff was polite but came across as somewhat arrogant, almost as if they were doing me a favor by allowing me to stay there. This attitude detracted from the overall hospitality experience. The breakfast was decent, with a good selection, but the setup was problematic. There’s no proper restaurant—just a bar area with limited seating, which wasn’t sufficient for the number of guests. People had to wait for a spot, and the bar-style tables were awkward and impractical for a meal like breakfast. For the price and in this prime location, I expected a bit more polish and attention to detail. You could likely find a hotel with better overall quality in the same area for a similar cost. That said, the stay wasn’t bad—great location and clean facilities helped balance things out—but it didn’t fully meet expectations. I’d recommend

Loved the lobby and the 24 hour bar. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Comfortable beds! The hotel was very close to Liverpool St Station. A convenience store was right next door where we were able to get water for our rooms. I'd stay here again.

Good hotel reasonably priced, always a frustration is having to request/collect ironing board and iron

Welcoming staff and a very clean hotel. Good location, good nights sleep. Like there was drinking water available in reception. You have to go down to you have to go down to reception to request an iron& ironing board - not provided in room.

Would be better if a fridge & safe were provided

The hotel was cosy and handy to the tube station at Aldgate. Breakfast was disappointing and no seats or tables available on the second day so cancelled and went to the cafe round the corner for a cooked breakfast at a cheaper price. Staff friendly, but definitely save a few quid and avoid breakfast.

Great hotel in a brilliant location, close to the river and great tube /DLR access. Rooms are simple but everything you might need, staff are helpful and friendly and the bar is very comfortable too

Just back from a two night stay and it was excellent! Right from check in to check out, the staff were very friendly and courteous. Nothing was too much trouble. The room and hotel were very clean and had all the amenities you could want. We will be staying again!

Don't be fooled by the reviews. This place is terrible I would never stay here again. First of all our room was right outside the lift on the 7th floor constant noises from that and from noises in rooms next to us you can hear when people used the bathroom. Hardly any space in the room despite booking a king bed we were given two singles pushed together very uncomfortable the pillows were a complete joke. The bathroom was not cleaned properly there was a smell and turns out cups were left from previous people that stayed on top of the loo. I would genuinely expect to recieve my money back for this stay. Just ridiculous.

The hotel is greatly located for Aldgate station. It has a beautiful lobby/bar. Breakfast looked great, although we didn’t have it. The room itself was very clean, with a nice bathroom. Yes they are small, but they had used the space really well. If you’re staying for a few nights with small cases, this won’t be a problem. The only downside was that one side of the bed didn’t have a side table, however, both sides of the bed had plug sockets which seems to be a rare find these days. We were really impressed for the price.

It's a 5 minute walk to the Tower Bridge. Very modern and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We were charged almost $100 more than what we had additionally agreed to and what was on our hotels.com confirmation. At the time we didn't argue, because we had just come in from a long day of traveling and I needed to review what the email was, this also occurred at the Motel One-Princes in Edinburgh (seems to be common with the chain). The bathroom smelled of mildew and mold.

Very good location to access underground etc. very quiet area. There was no bin in the main room and no lid/bag in the bin in the bathroom which was a little unhygienic especially with female guests. The showerhead in the room was broken and not much water was leaving the actual head which caused a little bit of leakage. Otherwise a good stay

Clean, modern, stylish hotel with cozy lobby and well-furnished rooms with a comfortable bed. That said, the Comfort Queen rooms are TINY. We only had carry-on luggage for the 2 of us and we barely fit, but a full-size suitcase might be a challenge. We'd stay again as the location was convenient (just 2-3 minutes from Algate Station) and the hotel was modern and clean; just be prepared for snug rooms.

I did not like that the curtains are not two layered. There is an office building directly against the room and in order to keep privacy, we had to have the curtain closed all the time and there was no sunlight. There should be a sheer white curtain that lets sun in.

Great location to stay in. Nice quiet room. Stayed in 221 and the shower leaked and the flush on the toilet was continuous. Have to press it twice to turn it off. Other than that great stay. Will stay again.

Tiny room. Not sure if 2 people had stayed in it. No room for 2 cases. Heard tube on 2nd night all night. And couple rowing. Liked location but think.its expensive for the size of the room. No bath, no complimentary water or herbal teas. Was getting door knocked upon to clean room at 8.30 am. So not a restful stay. But basic and clean.

Hotel location is brilliant, so close to key underground lines and walkable to many sights too. Staff are always really friendly and welcoming. Reception & bar area is stylish and comfortable. Room is comfortable and bed great for a good night sleep. Just a few things need attention. The shower head was poor, no real pressure to it. Noise from neighbouring bathroom travels into your one. First morning we could hear someone singing and the next morning someone was throwing up which we got to hear very clearly. No fridge in room nor any complimentary water. Paper cups instead of glasses. No bin in room.

Stayed in a few Motel Ones now. I think they are great. My gripe with all of them is the lack of storage in the bedrooms along with them not being very well laid out for women doing their hair - never a dressing table with mirror above.

The hotel is becoming outdated. Shower head is leaking, toilet flush not working properly, constantly leaking and if the room is near the lift it gets quite noisy.

The room had no way of getting fresh air in as the windows didn't open. Room was hot and stuffy, smelt a little like unpleasant. The air conditioning unit didn't work properly so had a bad nights sleep. Bathroom was nice. But overall rooms all too small.

Most disappointing part of our overnight stay was when we returned from our anniversary meal approximately 22:30 on Saturday 11/2 back to the hotel’s 24hour (allegedly) bar. We got one drink from the barman who was very polite and conscientious. However, when we returned to the bar for a 2nd drink, we had to search for a member of staff and when he did appear, we were rudely told that the barman was on his break (about 22:45) and despite being made to feel like we were inconveniencing this gentleman in asking for another drink, he looked at the bottle of Amaretto and said “there’s not enough” and walked off dismissing us. It totally ruined our night away celebrating our anniversary in London at your hotel and we, along with other guests waiting for drinks and being treated in the same rude manner, left the hotel bar and went down a couple of doors down where the service was a lot friendlier.

Very friendly and helpful staff at every interaction, I felt at ease upon arrival and throughout my stay. Ver nice decor particularly in the lobby and bar area. Good location as well close to Tower Bridge and The City of London.

Easy to find close to the tube station only a couple of minutes walk, greeted by friendly staff check in went smoothly. Room was clean and comfortable even though it was the hottest day of the year at 31 degrees!

We checked in on the evening shift bc our flight was late. We were greeted by Marco & George and they were so nice. Even gave us a complementary drink at the bar because we were celebrating my daughter’s graduation. When we got to our room, there was a problem and so i went back down and immediately they moved us to another room. Such professionals! Will definitely stay here again.

Motel one was clean and the staff were friendly. It was walkable to a lot of attractions and restaurants. The bar had great drinks if you’d rather stay in after sight seeing. It was a great experience over all!

Good jump off spot half a block from the underground and bus depot. Walking distance to the Tower of London. Well worth staying there. Breakfast was too expensive at 13 pounds per person. Plenty of breakfast places on the main Avenue.

This was a great hotel, pretty centralized in London with a tube station nearby. The rooms were standard for London sized, a bit tinier than expected. The bar at the hotel had great drinks and the bartender was great. Overall, it was a great place to stay and will stay again in the future.
