Stayed 2 nights

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights they were so many safety hazards such as exposed wires on the kettle wire, tv and bracket hanging from the wall and the wooded curtain canopy above the bed also hanging from the wall. I was told that this room was a complementary upgrade, I would have love to see the room we was going to have before the upgrade. Room 8 should be closed and truly accessed before it is booked out again, not an enjoyable stay at all.

We were given room 4, apparently it has an Infamous reputation as the lad who looks after the hotel called a few hours before check-in to ask if we wanted to find alternative accommodation due to the amount of complaints they have about this room. Unfortunately Hotels.com were not especially helpful in changing our booking and we were about to set off so opted to just keep the room. It is at the top of the hotel, 4 flight of stairs up. There is no bathroom, you have to share the one on the 2nd floor with room 7. The resident of room 7 appeared quite comfortable with this as they had set up their toiletries in there. Sadly they hadn't cleaned the toilet, I'm not sure anyone had for some time. In our room there is a bed, a broken chest of drawers and a counter top with a tiny kettle on it. Heads up, the plug sockets are tucked behind the curtains (nowhere near the counter) so you don't have to plug it in the TV socket and hold it as I did. Not that it matters as the electricity went off around 7am so we couldn't boil any water in the morning anyway. Oh and the kettle leaks. It was cheap and we slept fine, the bed was at least clean and relatively comfortable. I would not be staying here again, certainly not in room 4 at least.

Stayed for a Saturday night, room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The Collingwood is right in the heart of Great Yarmouth, good location, staff very helpful, parking costs £3.00 for 24 hours, quite easy to fins a parking space near the Guest House, defiantly would stay at The Collingwood again.

Good location, friendly service on arrival. Issues with electrics in room meaning we had the door knocked on a few times after 21:30 which was inconvenient. We were kept awake by neighbours who were up talking at silly times, but would not have been an issue if the walls weren’t so thin. Shared bathrooms could use a spruce up.
