Opal Sands Resort

The accessibility to the beach was the bar none! The pool, gym, and restaurant were also excellent!

Opal Sands exceeded our expectation. Check in was swift, valet parking pleasant and off to our room in minutes. Gulf view with manatee, dolphins, pleasure boats entertaining us during our stay. This resort has a pool 3ft max. depth with lounge chairs adjacent to tiki bar and to the water below the sea wall. Just you and a waterview with the spectacular west coast sunset. Music and another bar/dining area on lower deck which lead to beach and pier. Inside dining was good, wine too with another sunset view. We extended our stay another night! Didn’t want to leave this place. Mobile check out was less impressive. When we returned home, I contacted accounting and promptly was credited $$$ to my cc. Five star resort and hoping to finalize another stay soon.*****

Opal Sands was a perfect stay for our family. The pool and lounge chairs overlook the Gulf. Dining amenities were excellent. A short walk to the public beach. And on top of that you can use all the amenities of the sister hotel Opal Sol

We liked that this resort was right on the beach and had a nice pool. Lots of amenities like a “pantry” on each floor with bottled water and snacks for the guests and free ice cream by the pool daily at 2pm. It was also nice that we could also use the pool and eat at the restaurants at their sister property Sol located right next door. Staff were friendly and accommodating and the rooms were comfortable and clean.

Absolutely gorgeous location. Clean, beautiful hotel with stunning rooms & views. Spa like bathroom, with luxurious shampoo/soap/conditioner. In room coffee bar, snacks/bottled water/bags of ice on every floor in the guest pantry and the most comfortable beds. Great pool / tiki bar and a few steps more, you have full beach access with rental chairs & cabanas. Worth every penny. We will definitely be back!

Great pool, nice staff, free water and snacks (ok bundled into resort fee). Beach access but no lounge chairs on the beach but pool chairs and towels were also part of the resort fee. Staff was attentive and rooms were big with great views and balconies looking out at the gulf. We would return.

This place is fabulous! Very nice resort. Beautiful setting, restaurants around to walk to. Got a great massage at the spa, too. The only suggestion I would make to the resort is to be a bit less stingy with the snacks in the pantry each day. They are a nice perk, but not if they are all gone right away ! Also, the pool and deck areas are beautiful views of the water - gulf front!

The facility and location are excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the rooms and the view were exceptional. Great location will definitely stay again.

Opal Sands is a VERY nice, reasonably new hotel (2016), with access to the PUBLIC beach a few steps away - keep in-mind that none of the big hotels along South Gulfview Boulevard - including the Opal Sands - have a private beach. They assess a $39.55/day Resort Fee which includes things like: a bicycle for each adult guest, in-room coffee, WiFi, water & ice, fruit & granola snacks, and access to their gym and outdoor pool & hot tub. This fee is disclosed by Expedia. Food, beverages, and other hotel services (such as the spa) of course are additional. There are no vending machines on the property. What is not disclosed: if you're driving to the property, you'll be charged $42.80/day for the car-park; there is no self-parking. With all room charges, fees, taxes and parking, we paid $576/day for a 4-night (Thursday to Monday) stay, which buys you unobstructed ocean views from every room.

Everything at the hotel is exceptionally clean. Food at the pool and Sandbar is very good. The Gulf is right in front of the pool, but beach access is down 2 flights of stairs and on the side of the hotel.

The hotel was fine. Pretty but not the luxury experience it touts. The view is bar none, and the sound of the ocean puts a smile on your face. It’s not quiet if relaxation is what you’re after. The patrons having fun at the pool and the music are quite loud requiring you to close the door for relaxing. The housekeeping is abysmal and again as a luxury hotel not something you expect to encounter as you’d imagine at least there is a supervisor that performs checks and balances. After checking in I had to abort my shower as I looked up and noticed clumps of hair attached to two walls. There was no apology, no manager to intervene as offered when I phoned the front desk. A young maid eventually came to clean this I and I was grateful. Three days later housekeeping came by again for the first and only official visit, evidenced by the made up bed -not clean sheets-and removed used towels. However the melted soaps, empty cleanser and shampoo bottles remained not to mention the trash. We resorted to wearing flip flops due to the sand and dirt accumulating on the floor- to be expected during 4 days of use at a beachside hotel. And to top that off they while leaving everything else used behind took the shower cap and all wash cloths without replacement. Could I have again called the front desk sure, should I have to? No. Also, given the lackluster first interaction I just decided to finish the stay and seek alternate lodgings on my next visit to an otherwise beautiful location.

Beautiful hotel! The pool chair covers were stained and gross. There were not enough serve staff at the pool

The staff was helpful and polite. The room was as described when booked. The pool area is nice but unfortunately the pool is basically for kids, you just cannot swim in it, there is no deep area for adults. So didn't enjoy it. The tips expected are quite high starting from 20% to 30%. Finally the housekeeping is very poor to say the least, they never cleaned our room or emptied the trash despite us being out for 6 hours everyday. They just knocked on our door around 5pm asking if we need anything for the room. Totally unacceptable for a room charge of $500/night.

Honestly one of the best hotels I have stayed at. Extremely clean and neat, hotel smells great, staff and cuisine options are also amazing. Super recommended

Our stay at the Opal resort definitely exceeded our expectations,from the valet,bellhop,desk staff, and housekeeping. The amenities were superb.Very clean and well maintained. Highly recommend, will definitely return.

It's not what i expected for the money! And the cleaning lady left a dirty spck on in the room on the couch, and couldve done a better job cleaning the room. when I told the receptionist all shebsaid was you want me to send somone up to clean your room? No I think they shouldve cleaned it roght when they had the chance. Theres no microve in the room but theres one in the hallway and the hallways smelled like food especially "popcorn" all day everyday. At one point it smelled like sewers. Over all the sister property "opal sol" is much nicer. So yea. Definitely not worth all that money.

Convenient location. Food was ok. Pool was too crowded and couldn’t find chairs most days. Room wasn’t cleaned regularly.

Billing issues. Made me rebook on a different card at the desk changing Expedia total from 384.00 up to 426.00 Bathroom and shower shower had hairs in it and walls were dirty in bathroom.

The hotel was beautiful! Great location and friendly staff. The room was very clean. The view of the gulf from our balcony was awesome. Great pool and attentive staff offering towels and drinks. We hope to return someday!

Nice property it takes a long time to get hot water to come on in the shower. Also we're awakened at 5:00 in the morning with the sound of somebody running some equipment outside of our window that woke us and disrupted our sleep. Would not recommend saying in the north end of this building.

Beautiful hotel in a little beachside getaway. Hotel offers a pretty lobby, good restaurants and a nice relaxing stay. We enjoyed the pool, gym, restaurants and bars. The gym was empty most days and had. Nice equipment and very clean. The room was a little well used and not completely as nice as the hotel, it had some wear and tare, but ocean views were great, snack pantry was a nice touch. Sunsets were beautiful! Cons are the parking is pricey, the breakfast restaurant closes too early, poolside drinks were too pricey for their more frat party style (everything has a sprite top off or way too sweet) then handcrafted -lacks sophistication. Opal Sol pool drinks and bar seemed better and better food as well. I think this is a great getaway, we stayed a week, it felt like we ran out of options of new food places, things to do after about day 5. The beach parking lot has a lot of honking and occasional loud music from beach patrons. The ocean waves are not loud enough to block that noise but otherwise it is pretty and peaceful for relaxing stay. Best part of the room was the balcony- nice to sit and watch the ocean and people below. The room was the studio model and felt small after a few days. It has everything but no desk or table only the little table outside on the balcony. We really enjoyed the pelicans and sea birds soaring around the hotel beautiful. We even saw a dolphin! It was not as romantic as the Caribbean but still a nice trip.

Opal Sands had the best view of the Gulf of Mexico. The sunsets from the balcony was always spectacular! The in-house Sea-guini and Sandbar Restaurants were both amazing!

This is not particularly handicapped friendly. No access to the beach without using stairs. One restaurant on premises. Had to walk through bridge to get to sister property and more restaurants. Rooms spacious and clean, and the view from the balcony was wonderful, but the sliding doors wouldn’t close completely so it was impossible to cool the rooms. All the staff were exceedingly helpful.

My friend told me it had the best views of the Gulf, that's what brought me to the resort. However, my view was blocked by a PALM TREE

Service was 2 stars. We experienced error on our room service dining each time. Only got room cleaning 1 day out of a 5 day stay. Had to ask for towels, trash to be emptied every day. One day rooms service knocked at 7:45 am - first day of our vacation. The bed was uncomfortable and our necks are still wrenched from the pillow. Will never go back. If you go , definitely stay at Opal Sol NOT Sands.

Great view from the room, spacious room, friendly staff. The only drawback is that there is valid parking the one you need to pay for; and the swimming pool is small. Great location- beach right near the hotel, walkable distance from Pier 60, restaurants, boardwalk entertainment .

It was a wonderful, first stay, experience. Staff and accomodations were 1st rate. Location was great and hotel had high-tech features. Will definitely come back again!

My wife and I stayed at this location for 3 days. We really enjoyed their overall service, staff is great and provide service with smile, there was a minor inconvenience for us but Rosa (front desk staff) was prompt to offer alternatiives, THANK YOU ROSA. In addition thank you was well to Lauren P at the See Guini dining area, Thank you to Sean and Wayne for your help to bring our many items in and out of our room, Keep up great work with smile!

the AC in the room was not working so the maintenance showed up shortly but could not fix the problem. the next day reception called me and when she heard my frustration she quickly transferred my call to the hotel Manager. He went to the room himself and he made sure the AC was working properly. He even offered free dinner for 4 of us and waived resort fees. I have traveled to many parts of US and the world but the service and the ocean views were spectacular. I highly recommend this hotel for business, pleasure even weddings.

⸻ This was a complete disaster. My daughter’s birthday and our entire vacation were ruined due to undisclosed policies—specifically, they refused Apple Pay at check-in. We were charged $3,600 but only refunded $668. Staff on April 14th were rude, evasive, and one falsely claimed to be the manager, refusing to answer questions. We were told the real manager wouldn’t arrive until 2 p.m.—unacceptable for any hotel. We had to cut our trip short and were treated with zero accountability. This was not just bad service—it was dishonest and potentially illegal. Legal and BBB complaints will follow. Avoid this place at all costs.

There was an issue that happened while staying here, and while minor, the member of guest services went out of her way to make it right. I spoke directly with Taylor and she treated me with dignity and respect. Taylor was able to quickly and fully rectify the situation. How well a property deals with its mistakes is the sign of how well it is run.

The service people we encountered were hands down the best ever. Everyone. Front desk person was magical. Waitstaff excellent. I kept thinking, where do they get these people? Car park guys too.

Staff was not friendly in thr bar area when asking us to move. Additionally, customer service desk made us wait significantly to get our room. In return, they gave us extra time to check out, but next day when we were on our way to get our luggage, the room was already locked and we couldnt get in. We had to go downstairs again and asked for help. The new person that was there mentioned that we were not allowed to stay longer (even though we were offered that option since we waited for almost an hour to get our room).

An okay place but expected more for the price. Paid $1,300 for 3 nights & you would think everything would be included but no theres a fee for literally everything. The staff wasnt very friendly either which was disappointing. The bartenders at the sand bar were amazing though!! We ended up having to leave early due to unforeseen circumstances. We had already paid for the room that night & i got charged almost $400 for an early departure fee which is absolutely ridiculous. I have never in my life heard of that. Will not be returning

The room was nice, but the A/C was out and the manager was quite rude about it. To be honest the 2 guys at the front desk were much more pleasurable to deal with than the female manager. There was also another female employee was rude as well when I was reporting the issue. They had me and my husband get up and pack at 2:30am to relocate us to a different room, only to bring us a box fan 1.5hrs later. I feel like this is an upscale resort and we shouldn’t have been subjected to using a box fan and then deal with the rudeness from staff met after reporting the issue. There are also a lot of hidden fees that you aren’t made aware of prior to booking. Please be sure to ask the total to include fees to booking. Now the restaurant has excellent food!

Once again, Opal Sands Resort exceeded our expectations. The attentive staff, delicious food, and exceptional service truly made our stay memorable. We can't wait to come back soon.

Nice property, right on the beach

The best location on the beach! Stunning views, practically on top of the gorgeous Gulf. The Sandbar has great drinks and is a perfect place to watch the sunset!

We will definitely return if we visit Clearwater Beach again. We loved everything about this hotel! Perfect location and the view is exceptional!

Stay was great, however, the room appeared clean, but my daughter’s stuffy fell behind the bed and when i reached for it, it was covered in dust bunnies. The TV kept coming on by itself but was told that the tv remotes in every room were universal so it could have been a neighbor turning their TV on and it was turning ours on too. The walls are pretty thin, so i believe it. The restaurant on site (Sea-Guini) was very over priced. We ended up trying local restaurants in the area, off the resort. We enjoyed the pool and how close we were to the beach. Valet is mandatory at $40 a day. Overall, although pricey, we thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend. The views are beautiful!

Checked in at midnight and service at that hour was excellent. This hotel was perfect for our 4 night trip with a beautiful view of the Gulf and a very nice pool with plenty of lounge chairs. The room was spacious and clean. We had breakfast every day at Seaguini and also dinner there one night. Breakfast was very good and our dinner was amazing! The Sand Bar was also a nice experience for a quick lunch or a few drinks by the water. Service was top notch from check in to checkout…special recognition to Jonathan at Seaguini and Morgan at poolside. We will definitely stay here again when back in Clearwater Beach.

Beautiful property. Great customer service. Only downfall was Sand Bar did not accommodate large wedding party for after party although it had been previously requested. Had to go to bar to order drinks and food.

Love that it was walkable to almost everything. Beach and pool were right there. Wish there was another dining option indoors that was more family friendly and not so expensive and/or a gift shop that sold more food options for grab and go. Overall, highly recommend this property!

The property was beautiful and the 2 restaurants on site are great. The service at the restaurants and at the bar was excellent. Our room had a beautiful view. I am very picky about hotels so I have a few comments…the coffee machine in the room is for espresso only. There was no American coffee, cream or sugar. The Sandbar had some flooding due to the rain. I tried to extend the checkout an hour or two because I wasn’t feeling well, but the hotel could not accommodate that. The beach is not part of the hotel. You can’t take drinks out there. I would still recommend the hotel. You can walk to the Pier which is nice.

Front Desk staff was young, inexperienced and essentially learning on the job. Ocean Front Suite was really nice. Food was average and not enough options on Menu.
